Amazing food and incredible staff!
The whole experience at Pied a Terre was fantastic from start to finish. I was booked onto their kitchen experience and arrived to an incredibly warm welcome (and a delicious cup of coffee) and then met the fantastic kitchen team. I was quickly put to work in the kitchen under the supervision of the incredible head chef Asimakis. I worked in different sections of the kitchen on a variety of elements which I would later eat in the restaurant. My 4 hours in the kitchen was incredible and the team were very welcoming and willing to share their knowledge with a very keen, amateur home cook. I then met my husband upstairs in the dining room for an incredible lunch. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff made the whole experience from start to finish something that I will never forget.
Be the first to ReplyUnforgettable birthday treat
My partner organised this surprise visit here for my special birthday celebration; it was the first time we’d eaten here, but based on our experience it won’t be the last. Yes, it is pricey, but totally worth it if you have something special to celebrate. We both had the 8 course tasting menu and I can say truthfully that every course was exquisite, from the canapés through to the petit fours. Not being experts on wine, we requested advice from the talented sommelier on a wine that would go with most courses (I am awkward because I can only drink white wine). His suggestion of a Spanish Alberto Orte Escalada do Sil 2019 was perfect for me. Partner also had a very nice red. I thought the eggs Kayianna was a delicate canapé served in a real eggshell. For my starter I opted for Ionian Sea, a beautifully presented plate of sardine pieces, mustard seeds, caviar, and fennel, while my partner had St Austell Mussel risotto, which he said tasted amazing (it certainly looked amazing). Main courses were sea bass followed by the chef’s signature dish of grilled French quail, which was melt in the mouth gorgeous. The next course was a millefeuille of brie, with celery and quince jelly – a clever take on cheese and crackers. The next two courses were desserts; the first a beautifully intense rhubarb tartare paired with a delicate rose petal sorbet. The second dessert paired chocolate in two different forms of crémeux with pear, accompanied by chestnut ice cream. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted such amazingly intense fruit flavours before. Like everything else, the petit fours were delicious and the perfect end to a perfect meal. I must not forget to add that, throughout, the service was impeccable.

A very enjoyable evening. The food was, as ever, excellent, as was the service. Not cheap, but you pay for quality. And the evening was made extra special when Chef Asimakis came to see us at our table, and then also asked if I’d like a tour of his kitchen (which was extremely impressive).

Excellent food and accommodated my husband’s nut allergy very well. The wine pairings were divine. I loved the cosy ambiance.

We had a lovely lunch in this pleasant small restaurant. The food has Greek influences and is beautifully presented. The service is friendly and relevant and the wine list varied and interesting. The atmosphere was good with a busy but not Full restaurant One to go back to

Recent visit to one of my favourite restaurants. As I follow a plant based I love that I can eat Michelin quality food. Not so delighted on this visit. We were with guests who we recommended the restaurant to so did not want to make a fuss. Overall the menu lacked the care and imagination of the meat menu. Lowlights were the Artichoke that was not prepared properly and scratched my mouth as I ate it. A main course with a bought in plant meat substitute. If this is one you can buy in Waitrose they are two for £8. I had a third of one on my plate. I would expect you to make your own meat substitute. All cheese was what I can buy basically in any good grocers. The cheese course. Well I could have prepared this and I don’t cook. 3 crackers/bit of sliced up celery and tiny bits of cheese in a mound. Compare this to the truffle brie on the meat menu. Good job you don’t do BBC Masterchef as the chef assigned this would have laughed. The rest was ok. A few blobs of chocolate for desert - again compare with the meat menu. The only outstanding dish was the pasta and this has been on the menu for years. The place looks tired and the loos were no better than those at St Pancras Station. You need a visit to Invernadero in Madrid - an art in how to look after plant based eaters. And for 4 of us £600+. Anyway I can see from other poor reviews that you don’t appear bothered. Likewise I can’t be bothered to spend my money with you in future. Good luck and let’s hope a plant based Michelin reviewer does not turn up anytime soon.

First class experience. We cannot wait to go again! Went for my 30th birthday. Such a lovely, warm, unstuffy restaurant. The food was outstanding- both got the tasting menus with wine pairing. Wife ordered the vegan tasting menu which had some real treats on it, the vegan carbonara and fermented soy bean delicious! 5 stars cant fault it and definitely recommend

We were a party of three celebrating a 70th birthday. From the moment we walked in the staff were welcoming without being overbearing. The atmosphere was cosy without being pretentious. We went for the 10 course tasting menu and the food was amazing; beautifully presented and perfectly portioned. I wanted to particularly recognise Ciarán for really enhancing our experience. He was so knowledgeable and friendly, he made the evening for us.

Being frequent travelers to London from LA and having eaten at many Michelin star restaurants, this was by far and away the most disappointing. The restaurant was dated, tired and awkwardly lit, the ambiance stale. And let’s not get on to the Christmas music! However, the worst was yet to come: the food. My partner and I both ordered the 10- course tasting menu with the wine pairing. The food was uninspiring, over salted, and lacking any depth of flavor. The wine was just okay as was the service. This was absolutely not worth the money, nor time spent there. Hopefully it can get back on track otherwise I see stars disappearing.
Be the first to ReplyHad the 10 course taster menu
The Greek and French twist was unusual. The starters were lovely but the mains were AMAZING!! The desserts were out of this world. I will definitely be going back!! True artists when it comes to the presentation. The service could have been better considering.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing if you want something a little different.
Lovely people working in a very friendly and comforting environment. Food was great and very different. A fine food twist with Greek islands influence. I went , i was impressed , i said i would return and i did. The menu on my return was almost identical ( a set tasting menu) but that didnt matter as most courses were knockout. I`ll return for more of Chefs amazing food but i`ll wait until everything has changed on the menu. I was very well looked after and service was superb.

We had the most wonderful evening. Not only was the food so beautifully cooked and presented, but the service was outstanding. I was so impressed that the staff had remembered that one of the four of us does not drink alcohol and had a range of alternatives at hand. The service was so professional, but also friendly and made the experience even more special. Thank you all.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming for a Michelin Star
I took my partner here for his birthday and we were both disappointed by the overall quality, portions, and therefore cost of the tasting menu. I cover feedback on service, presentation and atmosphere, food quality, portions and cost. I asked for recommendations from a foodie friend of mine who suggested Pied a Terre as an excellent restaurant for a special celebration. I decided to book with them for my partner's birthday and despite having researched and looking through reviews, we were both disappointed by the overall quality, portions, and therefore cost of the tasting menu. Service: Let me start by saying that the service is great. We were grateful for the staff looking after us, they were polite and checked in on us often. They also added a touch of 'happy birthday' to the last dessert which we did appreciate. It was surprising though that they did not ask why we had left food on our plates, as I would have told them honestly and kindly. Presentation and atmosphere: The atmosphere was beautiful and very intimate. The presentation of the food was really well thought out and exquisite. Food quality: My partner and I have been to several restaurants with excellent tasting menus, from unrated restaurants to those with a Michelin star or two. We were excited to try the 10-course tasting menu (standard dinner tasting) considering it was a special meal. And while there were some dishes that were great (starters and dessert), the in-betweens including the mains were either too rich or quite plain. This is disappointing for what is meant to be a top-notch experience at a Michelin star restaurant. Most of the dishes also had truffle in them, which to us did not add value to or save most of the dishes that were quite average in taste. The dishes were well-cooked but could not be described beyond 'good' for the most part. Portions: Several of the dishes had a heavy element. It seemed fine with one dish but it carried on for several dishes - (1) truffled duck egg, (2) parsnip puree, (3) parfait, 4) olive oil confit egg yolk - as the key heavy elements of the dishes and were quite big portions in consideration of the other elements of each dish. We very much struggled from the 5th dish and had quite a lot of leftovers from that point especially the 6th dish (smoked quail) which was the chef's well-known/main dish! This is the first time we had leftovers at a Michelin tasting menu, which we never do in Michelin tasting menus given how expensive they are! It was surprising to us how heavy the dishes were considering these are usually well thought out to ensure diners are left pleased but not insanely full at the end of the meal. We ended up feeling so full to the point of feeling sick, having not even finished everything. Bear in mind that we have done 2 tasting menus in a day recently (lunch then dinner) and we felt far fuller after this meal than that other day. Cost: Given the experience with the food quality and portions, it was so painful to pay £150pp for a 10-course menu that did not live up to expectations. It was especially disappointing because this was meant to be a really special treat for my partner's birthday, and I can only be grateful he appreciated the thought, planning, and was a good sport throughout. I leave this review not to be mean to the restaurant as I am sure they are loved by many and do an amazing job behind the scenes. I've simply made my concerns clear in the hopes this will help someone else. I ignored the negative comments as they were not as many compared to the positives, but I also think my friend's recommendation is likely an old one from a few years back when perhaps the quality was better. If you do decide to go to this restaurant, I would perhaps recommend going for the a la carte menu as it may give you a better experience in terms of ensuring you do not feel so full at the end of the day.
Be the first to ReplyChef conducted job interview from the table next to ours during our dinner. Very loudly!
The vegan tasting menu was great and the waiters were fantastic. Unfortunately the chef decided to conduct a job interview during service on the table next to ours. This was toward the end of the evening and there were two other tables with guests having dinner. The chef did NOT go to the office or to a quiet table away from the paying guests but sat on the table immediately NEXT to ours. The chef and the new staff were talking in loud voices, drinking wine and discussed pay package and other details. We asked a staff member why was the chef imposing his business affairs on the guests and exposing the new staff member in such a way. We complained that we could not enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, the food and our own conversation due to how loud they were talking. We were told that the chef saw no problem with his behaviour! We said that we were paying guests and deserved to be able to enjoy our dinner in a relaxed environment. The waiter could not say anything else and left mumbling. After about 40 minutes, the job interview concluded and we even knew were the new staff member was going on a trip and why, that he could start hours before his shift because that’s what the chef does and other details. As well as his salary. We were then sent the smallest bonbon with an apology from the chef. He ( or a manager) did not bother to come over to our table to apologise. We were then overcharged by a lot. Luckily we noticed it as we were outside of the restaurant. This was quickly rectified by Emelyne who was always excellent. Sad to say that we’re not going back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service, great food, great experience
I took my family for the 8-course vegan tasting menu. The restaurant had a nice ambiance, very welcoming and excellent service. It was very professional but engaging and all staff built a rapport with my family. Food was awesome, whilst not the cheapest was well worth the money. Highly recommend. Great wine list to!
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding vegan food, fantastic restaurant
My son treated me for my birthday to the vegan tasting menu and I was absolutely blown away. Every course was a delight and utterly delicious… even the cheese was amazing, which is normally the one thing that’s a bit of a let down on the vegan front. Also, the staff were all so friendly and attentive, some of the best service I’ve had anywhere, they managed to make us feel really special. I loved it. Enough said!
Be the first to ReplyGreat fun!
Needless to say this was one of the best birthday dinners I've ever had! The presentation of the food was just fantastic as was the service. We had such a wonderful time and it was made to be such a unique experience for us by the team there.

Amazing food, excellent hospitality. Me and my boyfriend had a dinner for my bday and honestly was amazing. My only concern is the place was cold and the portions quit small
Be the first to ReplyExceptional meal, well worth the price.
I really enjoy opportunities to experience a tasting menu with wine pairing and this meal did not disappoint. Unless you're used to this type of meal, and have a few hours to sit back and take in the experience, it can be a bit overwhelming. Even for those who are not really wine drinkers, I cannot recommend it highly enough. The first sip (prior to the course) has one taste and after sampling the food, has has another. It is the pairing that adds a layer that would otherwise not exist. If I had to point to one thing that I would do different, it would be taking a break just before the main course because I was so full I couldn't finish it and I needed a good 10 minutes before continuing with the cheese course. I hope to be able to return again in the future.
Be the first to ReplySlugs in vegan tasting menu
Experience started off very good, staff were very welcoming. I'm a vegan and decided to treat myself for my birthday so myself and a friend went to celebrate (we only do tasting menus twice a year on our birthdays). The food was very good, until I received the 7th course. I started to eat it and a couple of bites in realised there were two live slugs in my salad. I called the waitress over, who immediately removed it from the table and I advised another waitress that I didn't want a replacement since the thought made me feel nauseous. The dish included vegan cream cheese, so all I could think about was the creaminess of that and how I could easily mistaken a bite of that for a slug. My friend who was having the meat tasting menu, also returned her plate since she felt a little sick after she saw the slugs on mine. They came out after half an hour with the next dish, I was feeling better by then and was okay to eat more since the rest of the dishes didn't contain salad. A waitress came over to apologise and said they would take off a drink, but we both misheard and thought she said they would take off all drinks. When the bill came, we were surprised to see that they had charged us fully for the tasting menu and only taken off £30 for 2 drinks. We asked to speak to the manager, and this is when it all went downhill. We would have accepted a proper genuine apology, however, the manager (David Moore) had a smirk on his face the entire time. He refused to take off more money and when we told him to at least take off the 7th course because we didn't finish eating it he responded with 'well, there's no way for me to know that you didn't finish the meal', we told him to ask his staff since they saw the slugs and took the plates away, but he wouldn't. His excuse for the slugs was 'its all fresh produce so things like this happen', which I couldn't accept. There were about 6 tiny leaves of salad on my plate, how do you miss 2 slugs?! Also, not something I would expect from a Michelin star restaurant... maybe McDonalds. The whole time we were trying to explain it was unfair for us to only received £30 off, he made it seem like we were trying to get a free meal. We ended up not paying the service charge so saved around £60, including the drinks coming off. I was okay with the £60 off, but this should have come from the restaurant itself, not from us refusing to pay service charge. A genuine apology without a patronising smirk would have also gone a long way. First time I've ever written a review. The waiters/waitresses were very good, it was the manager that completely ruined the experience, there was no regret from his side. I wish I knew it is legal to not pay for food, I would have walked out without paying after the encounter with David Moore.

We had the 10 course vegetarian dinner menu (perhaps two courses more than were needed) and nearly every mouthful lived up to the expectations when you think of Pied à Terre. Highlight were the Eggs Kayianna in the capanés, the Summer Tomato Salad for starters (tomato sorbet was something else!) and the Baked Soy Bean Terrine for mains. Desserts were light and refreshing, with the only disappointment being the rather sub-par olive oil and vanilla macaron (both were dry and crunchy, rather than soft, gooey and slightly crisp). Overall, an experience that must be had and shared! Even managed to snap a selfie with Exec Chef Asimakis as he was doing the rounds. Special mentions must go to Kieran and Sam for their incredible knowledge and table hospitality throughout the evening.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent but pricey food
This was brilliant cooking of very nice ingredients. We loved the Greek twist on the cooking. One flaw in the dishes, was the use of bright blue curacao as an analogue of the Aegean Sea. Personally you do not want to see bright blue food - the jelly was tasteless. I suggest plating in an interesting blue bowl. Otherwise the food was perfect. Service was excellent and not overly obtrusive. Wine selection in the flight was unexciting - shame not more of the exciting Greek offerings. Overall excellent cooking of nice ingredients. As with all these things, rather expensive for what you get. (Was the Turbot really necessary? could something interesting be done with another fish?)
Be the first to ReplyMy "Kitchen Experience" at Pied a Terre
I spent a morning with Chef Asimakis and his team in the kitchen which provided me with a close-up impression of how much they care about what they do. It’s a tightly run ship and the attention to every detail was meticulous. The team was very welcoming and keen for me to see everything they were doing. I helped in small ways with some of the preparation always aware that what I was doing was being closely overseen and checked by someone in the team. Hygiene standards were "forensic" and everything leaving the kitchen was passed by Chef for his approval before being taken upstairs. My husband joined me after, and our lunch and wines were perfectly paired; the sommelier was extremely well informed and articulated her choices in an engaging and interesting manner. I was delighted with my “Kitchen Experience” package and would heartily recommend it to anyone interested in seeing how a restaurant of this calibre works at a “nerve centre” level. Enjoyed a six course lunch with wine pairing as part of my package. Spectacular as expected.

With a special birthday looming and two previous amazing dining experiences at Pied a Terre, there was only one place we wanted to book to celebrate with friends!! And it didn’t disappoint! The quirky owner with a wealth of floral shirts welcomed us with his usual enthusiasm and the staff were helpful in explaining the finer details of the menu. The beautifully created little extras are what make this restaurant so special. We opted for the 8 course menu which was amazing start to finish with each plate lovingly put together and beautifully presented. The restaurant had a great buzz about it and is ideally located opposite Charlotte St hotel for pre dinner drinks. We look forward to our next visit to the amazing Pied a Terre!!
