Dreadful experience
Never going back here again. We had been loyal customers for many years but this visit ended that. Booked days ahead for Sunday yum cha with friends. We had two booking slots to choose from 11:00am and 1:30pm. 11AM was too early so went with 1:30pm. Upon arrival at 1:30pm we were shown upstairs (no offer of upstairs or downstairs given). Yum cha offerings that arrived on trolley were sparse, mildly warm if not cold and poor quality. Suddenly at 2:00pm yum cha trolley service ended. When questioned why we were told yum cha service upstairs ends at 2:00pm. Only goes longer if you are seated downstairs. This was never mentioned at any point until now. The staff were rude, the quality of the food was poor, we had to ask many times for additional dishes that were ordered first up for a vegetarian customer with us and it cost a fortune. Never going back again. I have already been given names of superior venues in the same area that people rave about. West Lake has lost the plot and lost a loyal group of customers.
Another stupid surcharge
Reasonable yum cha ruined at the end by stupid surcharges. Surcharge because it's Sunday, surcharge because I use my EFTPOS card. It's a wonder I don't get a surcharge to have a glass of water, which I had to ask for 3 times

We enjoyed a very nice meal and were served quickly as we were going to a show, On payment we were surprised to be charged a 15% surcharge, it was quiet Tuesday evening. We won’t be returning to this restaurant.
Animal cruelty at it finest
Never go to this animal abusive location, see the photos for your self. Dead / dying fish in the tank. How is this ever ok Australia? Owner & workers totally ignorant to my plea.
Very bad service
Very bad service. The waitress was so rude and old man as well. Last time I went there at lunch time, she simply said No Seat to me while there were so mnay seat empty. I was asking for mango juice, he replied No back to me straightaway. So inpatient, and the quality of dishes is terrible. Will never go again!
Food Is Good But Customer Service Lacks Common Sense
My spouse and I went after the tennis open late in the evening. It seemed like every step of meal had to be initiated by us. No initiative to come back to take our order. Neglecting to bring glasses of water and a pot of tea after we requested it. We had to ask twice and I witnessed another table getting up to ask for water. Waiter made a snide remark when we asked for dinner plates (twice) and then brings us dessert size plates. What are we suppose to do, eat from the serving platters? They never came by to ask how the food was and not one finished serving plate or anything was cleared from our table during the entire meal. On the other hand the food was tasty and enjoyable. Excellent wok flavor with our fried noodle dish. Won soup was good. Too bad the poor service and attitude didn’t match the cuisine level of satisfaction.
Won’t be back
I visited Westlake Chinese restaurant (Bourke St, Melbourne) on 9/01 for yum cha. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Let’s say customer service isn’t their forte… When I walked through the door the so called Maître D stood in the middle of the restaurant, not even acknowledging me. I walked to him. Anyway, after being seated, a waitress came by and served me some tea. Then waited for 10 minutes or so before the ladies with the trolleys came by with food. Picked a couple of dishes and requested one specific one. “It’s coming” came the reply, so I waited…a bit later some dishes came & one of them was similar to what I wanted but not quite that I was after, so I asked the waitress again & once more (3 x) …. On the last round the very same waitress asked “what are you after” I got up and told her that I asked her 3 times for a dish & went to pay. What annoyed me is that a lot of tables were able to order dishes not on the trolleys and got them. Is it because I couldn’t speak the language? As the same were more attentive to those who spoke the same language. That’s not acceptable as we’re all in the same country!
Westlake is still good, but prices have jumped a lot
This is our go to restaurant when we come to Melbourne. There were 6 of us including 2 little girls, we had sweet and sour soup, roast pork, half a Peking duck and Cantonese beef, the meal overall was normal Westlake standard with the exception of of the beef which was tough and we sent it back. We replaced the beef with salt and pepper prawns which was the pick of the dishes Service was excellent as always and Westlake was still very busy, the fried rice was ok but it was lots of rice and very little extras. Prices are way up,$20 for fried rice and &40 for salt and pepper prawns

I’ve been coming here regularly since 1995 . Starting when I worked for a bank in the city and up until now when I’ve been bringing my family of 5. Lunches, dinners and weekend Yum Cha have always been nice. Prior to tonight, our last visit back in May wasn’t good. We all were sick after dinner. We thought perhaps it may have been something else but tonight proved otherwise. We walked in just after 6pm, plenty of tables and more staff than rice grains. We were promptly rushed to a table but at the front near the window, but then moved by the owner to a table down the back where he said someone was sitting at that 1st table. We were swarmed by multiple waiters asking for our order before we were even given menus. This was not a good sign. I asked for some water and soft drinks for the kids but after asking us several times for our food order, they still hadn’t bought the drinks. Once the drinks came , we went to order our food. It was very obvious that both the food menu and wine list had significantly increased in price, say about 300% compared to current inflation since May. A bottle of wine that was $23.99 at the bottle shop down the street was on the menu here for $84.00. $17.00 for prawn toast - I thought that was a whole loaf but it turned out to be half a slice cut in two!! Then $15 for 5 pieces of Chinese sausage - seriously. To make it worse, all food came out cold. And when the steamed rice didn’t arrive after asking for it 4 times, we were told that they were very busy and no staff, despite 6 waiters standing idly by. Steamed rice then suddenly arrived, piping hot and burnt my son’s hand. The bowl was untidy and looked like it was some other diners left overs. They clearly just microwaved it as the steam stopped after a minute or two and it turned hard like a rock. Overall it was just terrible. Service was poor and they couldn’t care less. Despite 25 years of supporting them, this new owner who’s the protege of the original tall slim guy with the mustache, has one service for Asians and another sub level for others. Never again - NEVER!!
In decline. Now it’s just an expensive way to fill your stomach with oily stodge.
This was the go to place in the ‘80’s….. it’s been in a slow decline ever since. The Yum Cha selections seem like they’ve been prepared in a factory somewhere. Lightly spiced, full of salt/msg/stock powder. Service is bad with staff straight of the boat unfamiliar with southern China/cantonese food. Beer is provided without glasses unless you request them. Stay away. You’ll be disappointed!

My wife and I found this to be the best Cantonese Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. We both enjoyed the Mongolian Lamb, and the pricing was reasonable; the service and ambiance here was warm and inviting. We had dinner here twice trying the beef with broccoli on our second visit.

Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
