The Duck & The Peach Washington Reviews from The Last Year
Rounding up on my rating, somewhere between 3.
5-4 stars. I went for weekend brunch and sat at the bar. I ordered a matcha latte (I was very lucky they still had some matcha as I think they took this item off the menu), the spinach omelette, and one pancake. Omelette was fine, maybe a little rich, with arugula salad that was very fresh. The pancake was good although they douse the entire thing in syrup so after you've had a couple bites the whole thing is kinda soggy. It wasn't bad by any means but for a James Beard award nominated restaurant I would have expected more amazing.
The food was good, but the service was better.
Unbelievable hospitality. Our server was fully engaged and thoughtful about our orders and what we would like. They are hiring the right people for the right places. On point, great meal!
My experience here (food and service) was so bad, I got
My experience here (food and service) was so bad, I got written confirmation from the manager that I would be fully refunded (after emailing them about my experience). Manager also offered drinks on the house if i came back in. Never got a refund. Never going back.
I'd heard good things about this James Beard-nominated
I'd heard good things about this James Beard-nominated place before a trip to DC and what I was told didn't do it justice. It was one of the best meals of my life. Beyond the food, there's much more to love about this restaurant. But first...the food! I had four simple dishes and their passionfruit cocktail. Let's start there. Well balanced, not over-sweet, and really refreshing. Also, big shout out to Danielle. I sat at the bar as I was there solo and she was warm and engaging. Excellent service! I also had the butter lettuce salad. So simple but so flavorful and fresh. A perfect start and match with the passionfruit cocktail. It's perfectly dressed and comes with sheer slices of mimolette cheese, which adds a delicious saltiness. Next, I had another simple but amazing dish, the jamon & cheese tartine. The pan de cristal bread, serrano ham, and quadrello cheese were so a perfect combo.. Just four great bites of food. The star of the show was the asparagus risotto. The perfect creaminess and citrus flavors balanced by the shaved asparagus. The last thing I'll point out is that when the check arrived, Danielle proactively pointed out that there is no tipping. The restaurant is committed to paying living and just wage to everyone from the kitchen staff to the servers, with benefits. They bake the cost of that into the prices. Kudos to management for those progressive policies. Would've loved to try more dishes but it was my last night in DC. Will definitely be back!
It was our first out of 2 nights in DC and I wanted to have
It was our first out of 2 nights in DC and I wanted to have high-quality, memorable, delicious food and that's what The Duck & the Peach provided! The ambiance felt artsy and people were dressed casually but the food was fancy and expensive. My partner and I got the duck feast and everything was tasty, particularly the duck. We are duck lovers who eat duck a lot especially from Chinese restaurants and this duck was so tender and the skin was crispy the way I like it. We also had the mint ice cream bar for dessert which was super unique, almost savory and wrapped in an edible covering but I couldn't place what the covering was made out of (maybe white chocolate)? It was an expensive meal but we also took home left overs and we would come here again!
Our recommendation would be not to plan a business dinner
Our recommendation would be not to plan a business dinner here as the meat entrees or rotisseries are all for 2 or more people and sharing could be awkward. We enjoyed the duck and it made a nice fried rice the next day with leftover duck. We could have fed 4 with one duck, The asparagus risotto was lovely too.
This spot is located right across the street from Eastern
This spot is located right across the street from Eastern Market and is a nice spot to stop for a sit down meal when shopping the market. The open space concept is really beautiful, clean, and modern. I would recommend a reservation, as we stopped in on a Saturday mid-day and we were turned away indicating we needed a reservation (even though many tables seemed to be open), but we did find a spot at the seat-yourself bar so we sat there instead! Bar service was similar to hostess - indifferent about us, seemed more interested in talking to her coworkers than taking our orders or checking in on us. We ordered the duck fat potatoes which were the star of the meal. Cooked to crisp perfection, they were the perfect salty crunchy bite. The chicken salad sandwich was unique. I liked the grated tomato, but the bread fell flat for me and there were a lot of bones in my chicken, which made it a little tricky to eat. The chorizo Benedict was really tasty and enjoyable! Overall, it's pretty expensive for very average food in my opinion. The meal was good, but nothing to write home about. There's also a 22% tip included - I'm seeing this at a lot of DC restaurants now. I am happy to oblige, but now I see why service at the duck and the peach is no good, they don't have to earn it :(
We had drinks and Appetizers at the bar, would recommend!
We had drinks and Appetizers at the bar, would recommend! The passion fruit smash cocktail was sweet and delicious. The potato chips and jamon & cheese tartine apps were great. The service was quick and friendly. Plus it was very clean with great decor.
I give the service, atmosphere, and food all high marks.
We were seated promptly and our waitress was great. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tables are nicely spaced and we had a sense of privacy. We ordered the duck feast- rotisserie duck, cooked carrots and a rice dish. The duck was outstanding and the supporting cast was good. If you've never had rotisserie duck I recommend you give it a go.
Service was great but food was horrible.
Not what is expected based on menu. Got a plate of plain pancakes and it was a pile of soggy ick. Photo attached.
Potato Benedict is the Best
This is a terrific restaurant. Delicious food, friendly service, nice environs. It is also popular so make your reservation in advance. I am a benedict lover and this one was awesome. The best home fries I have ever eaten (seriously, so good) was the base instead of bread and it was served with Jamon. The Bloody Mary was good but my son's espresso martini was divine. They have a lot of walk-ins which can fill them to capacity quickly. We chose to sit at the bar rather than wait for a table. This turned out to be nice; visiting with the bartender/servers behind the bar was so much fun.
Another fabulous dinner experience
Another fabulous dinner experience from the winter veggies to the duck and the amazing array of deserts! Great wine and mock tails were recommended by our server Amy. We look forward to our next visit.
Charming
Three of the four dishes we had were knock-your-your-socks off fabulous. The goat cheese stuffed dates melted in your mouth, the porcini rice was exquisite in its blend of flavors and the celery root salad was astonishing with the olive tempalade. The fish did not match up. While the flavors were subtle and appealing, the fish was barely at room temperature. It was as though the dish had been sitting in the kitchen too long before being served. I regret not returning it to the kitchen. Jason, our waitstaff, was attentive and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was clean, modern and inviting. If back in DC, I would give it a second chance.
Okay, but we would have preferred more lunch type selections
We went for lunch on a Saturday, but they only had a brunch menu, which was pretty much all breakfast food. The one exception was the rotisserie turkey sandwich, which most of us ordered. It was generous on the portion of turkey, but our sandwiches were soggy on the bottom.
Top notch dining experience
This restaurant has been on my bucket lists since hearing about it while following the D.C. dining scene. Well,it did not disappoint! My wife had dinner here over the winter while traveling for business and came back with rave reviews. We had a anniversary weekend away in D.C. and planned on this for our special evening with another couple. While waiting for them to arrive we had a cocktail which started with a warm greeting and smiles from the staff, I’m a creature of habit when it comes to my gin choices but I was curious to try something different, when I was told my choices by our very informative sever. Best dirty martini I’ve ever had. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and had more friendly staff in the dining room. We chose the chef’s tasting menu, being a chef myself I knew I was in good hands. We started with watermelon tomato salad which was the perfect combo of sweet, spicy and salty. Onto a delicious crudo of kanpachi fish with a coconut broth with hints of ginger and Thai basil. Onto sliced wagyu steak sliced over cranberry beans and heirloom tomatoes. The rotisserie chicken and rotisserie duck were on point as the entrees with a delicious tomato rice and peach salad to cut the richness of the poultry selection’s. Desserts choices were sublime and the perfect bites to the end of a perfect meal. Service was as good as the food. Highly recommend.
Comfortable dinner
We had a fabulous experience, left feeling that it was as comfortable as eating at home without the effort. No ordering anxiety, a great balance of service and being left to enjoy
Delicious Rotisserie!
We absolutely loved this place! It had a very eclectic and warm atmosphere! Service was quick, attentive and very well informed-able to answer every question we had about the menu. Some of the people in our party had allergies and they went WAY above to accommodate and make us all feel comfortable and not awkward about asking. We had the Ratatouille and butterhead lettuce which were both light and delicious! Great to have well-cooked veggies!! We also had the Wagu steak and the rotisserie chicken. Both were amazing and we were all but licked the plates. I would HIGHLY recommend this place-I so wish we lived closer so I could go back.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
