Osteria Mozza Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
7/16/24 dinner for two.
Ambience was lovely and service attentive. We shared Grilled Octopus and Busiate (Sicilian) pasta, both delicious. My Wagyu Beef steak unfortunately was a poor choice, severaI bites I could not chew and considering the price I was not expecting it. The maitake n spinach it came with were amazing. My partner got Beef Tagliata and it was flavorful and good. The tiramisu too was very enjoyable but note that the strong flavors of caramel n toasted hazelnuts do not allow the Mascarpone to come through, and isn't that what a Tiramisu should be about? Wine choices are a bit limited unless you go by the bottle then all gates are open.
Outstanding
I don’t think I will ever enjoy a meal more than this. Service outstanding from everyone we encountered. This was more than a meal it was a dining experience. I can’t properly put into words how amazing the food was. I just wish I lived closer and could return regularly. I would like to give ten stars if I could.
Celebrated a friends birthday.
They acknowledged that at the beginning middle and end of meal. Nice touch. We had a 3 hour meal. The best kind of time spent. Osteria really lends itself to this enjoyment. Our waiter Justin picked up on our non rushed vibe. He spaced everything out beautifully. We ordered several dishes on the burrata side of the menu. All amazing. I particularly enjoyed the anchovies dish. Old fashion was on point. Midway through the meal we noticed Patrick Stewart and his wife were dining just behind us. He was celebrating his birthday as well. We joined in the singing of Happy Birthday. Lovely moment. His wife thanked us on the way out for joining in. Loved that nobody bothered him during his meal. Everyone was chill. As it should be. The antipasti and primi dishes were just great at opening up that appetite. I could name a few but can't spell them correctly. For Secondi I had the veal...wife had duck confit. So ya Amazinzing. Yes I've used that word twice now. But I added an extra zing. I really judge a place on desserts. Osteria did not disappoint. First time trying Pavlova. The merengue was like an airy big hunk with black currant sauce. I'm so glad I ended my meal with that climatic burst of flavors. Another meal for the ages. Thank you Osteria!
The space was nice and obviously service was top notch.
But I think the food was just ok, especially for the price. We had the Orecchiette with fennel sausage and swiss chard, which was pretty basic. We also had the Sweet Corn Cappellacci, which my boyfriend thought was AMAZING and super unique. As for me, I did not expect the corn to be creamed. I kind of think of creamed corn as like cafeteria food. You don't really need fresh corn for it because you can't taste the freshness of corn in creamed corn. At a place like this, I was surprised to find creamed corn in my pasta.
Good stuff here.
Overall, good experience. Our waiter seemed to be having a tough night or maybe a bad day. He was kind of cold all night, so rather than assuming he's bad at his job, I'm going to assume that he's human and had an off night, so it's fine. Street parking is hard, valet was $14. I didn't see a way around it so..... We were taken into the back room, where it was a lot quieter (which we appreciated). We got the burrata with the crispy peppers and olive oil galore. I can't remember what it's called, but it was our favorite. We also got the agnolotti. My first time having this. Basically, Italian mini-dumplings. For me, I thought these were super cute and little pockets of delight, but I found them just a bit disappointing. It was just....ok. The flavors were ... a bit bland. For the last dish, we got the duck confit, which was really nice. Super tender, the skin was really crispy, and they had this pickled thing (I'm really not sure what it is) that's a little sweet, and some sweet corn, which has a bit of a kick, and that was delicious. Overall, experience was good. I'm interested in trying the pizzaria next door next time. (From October 2019)

We came here for a dinner reservation and overall had a good time. Traffic led to us being late, which meant our table was given away and we could only get bar seating. Overall the appetizers and small plates were much much better than the main entree, and the bread was to die for. Will def come back here for the bread alone.
Outstanding experience.
A friend & I took ourselves for our birthdays last night and from the minute we got there until the minute we left, it was special. We were wished happy birthday by several of the staff which was lovely. We got there about 10 minutes before our reservation but they seated us right away. Shawn was our waiter and he could not have been better...so professional yet friendly and helpful. I can't remember ever receiving better service with attention to detail by all staff members. Drinks were excellent & served with an embossed initial ice cube. We started with buratta & peaches with prosciutto plus the olive oil garlic bread. The bread was dripping with luscious olive oil. The egg yolk and ricotta raviolo is a must with the beautiful sage browned butter. We then had the pappardelle with lamb ragu which was so flavorful. We split all of these but I could have easily polished off each one by myself because they were so good. None of the desserts spoke to us and I remember Nancy's amazing butterscotch budino which was not on the menu. I asked Shawn about it & he made it happen! It was served with candles and was as yummy as I remembered. Traffic in the area is horrible but this place is worth the drive.

Beautiful night to eat Italian! Started with wine and Nancy's favorite cheese trio. That bread is amazing and the cheese is beautiful. The Cesar was one of my favorite dishes. Tagliolini is amazing! Cacio e Pepe not my favorite. Duck confit and Rock cod both good! Olive oil cake yes! Tiramisu not so much. Great night, lots of fun flavors, some hits and misses but overall so good! Definitely would return again. Thank you
Hands down the best meal of my life.
Lovely atmosphere, outstanding service and the food is extraordinary. This dining experience I will remember forever

We wanted to eat here for my brothers birthday, his favorite restaurant. Made a reservation online via open table for 3 people for June 14 and later changed it to 7 at 9:30pm. Decided that was too late for dinner so we canceled it on June 3rd. My brother called and got a table for 8:45pm on June 14 for 3 people. We we checked in the hostess Tracy and to whom we explained about the changes in our reservation. Tracy said not to worry about it "we will not charge you for cancelling the reservation" upon which we said thank you, even though we canceled well ahead of their deadline to cancel reservations. Tracy's attitude was a little arrogant but either way the next day I got an email for Osteria Mozza with a $280 gift card. Thought this was strange so I checked my CC to only find out they charged me for it. This was the cancelation fee for 7 people and how nice of them to send a gift. I called Tracy the next day and she said the manager will call me but we first needed send the email with the cancellation notice. It took 2 days of me calling and hounding them in order to get Sean the manager to call me back. Another snooty guy tried to blame me. Yep, he told me that I did cancel the reservation but it got rebooked. I tried to explain to him that we did rebook for 3 people and we did eat there on June 14th but he wasn't hearing any of it. Nothing offered to us for their mistake but they did say they will refund the money. These people that work there think they are above the rest of mankind. Really just all arrogant! As far as the food goes the Burrata w/ the Peach was very good and the Little Gem salad was also very tasty but the Grilled Whole Orata was not good at all. It was a whole fish so one would think is such a nice restaurant the waiter would have de-boned they fish for us but they did not. Overall it was okay. For the price there are so many better restaurants out there.

Excellent place to celebrate a special occasion! Went for our anniversary and used to go to the amaro bar for their pre-pandemic prix fixe menu. The burrata with bacon, shaved Brussels sprouts, and the pappardelle with lamb ragu are my favorites! It's buzzy inside, and the lights are low to the point where everything glitters, including your silverware. Pretty magical! Enjoy!
Best thing I ever ate
We had an amazing meal here. I had the best thing 8 ever ate- egg and ricotta raviolo. I told my spouse that I wanted to live inside that dish. Service was excellent and the ambiance was great. Quite pricey but 100% worth it. Everything we ate and drank was excellent. If you’re wondering which of the many, many great restaurants to try in LA, this needs to be at the top of your list.
I wanted to enjoy it, but waitress was condescending.
She actually said, "this is not the build your own pasta kind of a place." I was simply asking her if there's anything vegetarian on the menu. Do not come here if you are vegeterian. Everything was too salty.

over rated but not a bad choice, La has allot better options available & more affordable
Still one of the best in the city.
The pastas are outstanding. The bruschettas are scientifically balanced perfection. The Food, ambiance and the service are top shelf. This continues to be our favorite celebrating spot.

Just cut it out right now and stop scrolling on yelp if you found this place. Let's get right into it. Walked in, greeted quickly and seated right away even though we were 10 minutes late (we're cringy I know) it was perfectly crowded enough to people watch and also enjoy the noise level. Catalina was our server and she was prompt, professional and charming. I believe the other girls name was charity (forgive me if I'm wrong) and she walked us through the menu and answered all our questions which I love. The food was pretty damn delicious. They were smaller portions but worth every single bite.
This place is great for a more expensive & high end place.
Desserts are not my favorite here, however I love the orrechiette with Swiss chard! So yummy! The steak is also amazing here & so is the garlic bread. Ambiance can be super Laois in the first room or a little quieter in the back room (but it's darker). Service is pretty good too but slow for refills.

We had a reservation for the late valentine's dinner at the Osteria Mozza. The server was very friendly and informative but our pasta took almost one hour to be served. By the time we had the pastas, we had to leave so we asked a different server for To go boxes, and he took our pastas to the kitchen. What surprised us at the time of leaving was our pasta were dumped and they offered us freshly make them again. Since our Uber was there, we just asked partial refund. It was a first time for us tried the restaurant but honestly disappointed a lot. Not sure we want to go back, but hopefully it will not be like this next time.
Food: 4.
5 stars Ambience: 4 stars Service: 2 stars (for main server) and 5 for other server (not ours, but she was really nice and helpful) First thing: At a restaurant with so many sections of the menu, why are you insisting we order everything at once? It's difficult to know how hungry we are going to be after the first or second course and ordering everything (other than dessert) at the same time is clearly intended to rush us along. We didn't appreciate it, we were made less confident in what we were ordering and how much food we'd potentially be wasting, and it just felt not.. welcoming or hospitable. At a restaurant at this price point we shouldn't feel rushed, especially with at least 1/3 of the restaurant having available seats and tables for the two hours we were there. Second: Our server was very cool and aloof, rarely came to check on us, and another server ended up taking care of us most of the time. Thank you, Jenn, for being so great. Third: Everyone we entered with was rushed through and out by 1 hour 10 minutes after they ordered -- and these were multi-course dinners. We were there the longest at 2 hours and 15ish. This included cheese course, salad, appetizer, pasta, entree, coffee and dessert. That's just nuts. Fourth: The food was really good and so were the drinks. Ultimately, we may be back. I've been coming here since they opened and I've always enjoyed it, but before COVID they started this ordering everything at once thing (not consistently though, because we have gotten out of it on occasion after some complaints), but the feeling of being rushed is just getting so much worse. We're here for good food, good drink, and good hospitality at this price. You succeeded on the first two but absolutely sucked on the last one. Be better, Osteria. You're not good enough to make up for how badly you rushed us through our $500+ dinner. PS: Jenn, you're the only reason we didn't complain to the manager. Thank you for helping to soften the blow of the rest of the experience. You were great.
We ate there last night.
Food was ok but nothing to write home about. There are much better Italian restaurants than this one. Back in the day this place was unbelievable. Wasn't even busy which tells you a lot. Save your money.
Had a great night at Osteria Mozza this weekend.
We got corner seats at the mozzarella bar and delighted in watching the preparation of the delicious looking charcuterie selection. We ordered the anchovies and mozzarella which was surprisingly scrumptious. We then ordered the Pici pasta and the pork shank. The shank was tender, juicy and very flavorful. Maybe a bit on the heavy side. The only note I'd make would be that the pasta, though light and had a beautiful bite to it , was slightly bland. Any complaints though would be immediately forgiven as the service was friendly, helpful and absolutely impeccable.
This restaurant never miss a beat well crafted cocktails.
I tried the red butter lettuce salad for starter and had the branzino as my main dish both did not disappoint. Service is top notch the attention to detail. And truly staff makes you feel well taken care thanks John.
Did not meet expectations.
Very disappointing food. We had high expectations which were not met. Raviolo was served with burnt butter sauce, actually black. Cioppino came without broth, just a few scallops, mussels and a piece of fish placed on a scoop of tomato sauce. This was not cioppino. The rabbit was overcooked. Tiramisu was sodden and inedible. I will not go back and suggedt a revamp in the kitchen. Service however was very good.
Perfect
A perfect place with perfect food perfect service perfect ambience. Food was exceptionally good without any doubt but what makes it special is the service particularly Caitlin was super. Not just good suggestions but also kept the process in good pace. We didn’t wait for long in between meals even also the restaurant being busy. What was also surprising was the price level…very decent for a Michelin star restaurant. Only wish if there were more option of wine by glass…
Exceptional Italian Experience!
After having experienced exceptional Italian service and food, I've tried to find similar places here in the US. Those places are rare here. Restaurants with staff and management dedicated to making sure you have not only the best food but best experience is an absolute joy! Add to that a menu that covers pretty much everyone's preferences and food made to delight your senses is the best!
Getting complacent and living on past glory.
Ciopinno was salty and broth tasted stale. Fish was rubbery as if precooked and reheated when served.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
