Moon Palace® Cancun - All Inclusive Resort Cancún Reviews from The Last Year
2 1/2 stars
I read many reviews before our trip. I found most of them to be very true. There is a strong sulfur smell coming from the ocean. It’s worse in some areas. We smelled it everyday while walking .5 miles to the pool. Very few went in the ocean. Rooms are dated but not too bad. Pool service was great. It was clean and the staff were very professional. An adult only pool is needed for non Grand guests. The food was consistently bad. We compared the flavor and quality to airplane food. We tried several restaurants, pool service and room service (bad food). Service however was good. We tried several “alcoholic” drinks all over the property. The should just say it’s a dry hotel. To say they are watered down is being generous. For families who want to cheaply vacation with their kids I think this is a resort for you. For adults traveling without kids who want good food, good drinks with alcohol and relaxing pool time it’s not the resort for you. I’ve stayed at better.
Amazing resort where the staff work really hard
Please don’t pay attention to the bad reviews, moon palace is an excellent resort with extremely hard working staff who cannot do enough for you. We are still here as I write this and have come as 2 families of 4 - with 4 teenage boys between us. We have had no issues booking any restaurants for all of us and the food has been incredible with lots of variety and options all day. The beach is lovely as it can be, they work hard to battle the seaweed, it is unfortunate that this climate change issue has affected the water and beach, but this isn’t the fault of the resort! We paid money to go into the grand for the day which was good value as can use the water park and restaurants. We have also booked some trips and looking forward to the cenotes!
Fantastic family holiday
Back from an amazing experience @ Moon Place, Cancun. We stayed in Nizuc and couldn't fault the accommodation, we had a garden/sea view room which was wonderful and was cleaned daily. We experienced all restaurants and Habibi's in the Grand was our favourite. Least favourite and not worth going too is Los Caporales in the Lobby of Nizuc, (we went lunch time) and Agra - Indian served near the pool in Nizuc for dinner- it's not a patch on the Agra a la-carte restaurant which is def. worth going too, best fish curry ever. Hubby played a round of golf and we experienced breakfast and dinner at all restaurants there, all were fantastic. Must give out a massive shout out to Edwardo, Alfondo & Daniel - pool conceriege @ Nizuc who's attention to detail and service at the pool was exceptional every day. If you are looking for a beach holiday, this is not the place to stay, we saw no-one on the beach or swimming. Seaweed lines the shore line, which to be fair they were clearing up everyday. The smell is not pleasant we didn't really smell it at Nizuc but you will def. at Sunrise. The cost of the tours were ridiculous, exp for a family of 4. We done the Dolphin exp, which was wonderful. But not what we thought, seeing them in a pool and not in the sea didn't sit comfortable with us. We will be back....
Group of 17
We just returned from Moon Palace Sunrise. The food was great but the servers really make the meals special. Shout out to Josue at Palapa Asadero for remembering us each day any making sure we were taking care of! Eleodoro at Riviera Maya made the whole meal an experience not just dinner! Delfino took care of our big group for breakfast at Gondola, we had time to relax and enjoy time together. And Gaspar at Carvao(formerly known as Arreficies) he was not our main server but gave our large table so much attention and made the best Mayan Coffee. These people made our trip memorable and made us feel special!
Great Service
The service was the best at el smoke Texas style. We were sitting down no more than 20 seconds when the servers came straight to us asking if we need any drinks or food and everytime we would request something, they would bring to us within a minute.
good times at smoke
restaurant smoke is very good. restaurant manager lorenzo was awesome. food is fantastic!!! had a great time. highly recommend it. all the food is fantastic and the service was awesome. come by and check it out. you won’t regret it. definitely coming back
Trip is not complete without meeting Ernesto the Dancing Chef!
We always enjoy our time at Palace Resorts and this trip was not exception. This time we want to give a shout out to Ernesto the Dancing Chef. Best ice cream and hands down best dance moves! Your trip will not be complete until you've danced for some ice cream!!
Dancing chef poolside
Ernesto the dancing chef serving ice cream poolside made our weekend! So fun, friendly, best ice cream server in the world. He dances with you and makes you feel so special as he serves you a bowl of delicious fresh ice cream or sorbet!!
Eneresto the Dancing Chef is one of the gens of this place
Ernesto the Dancing chef is the BEST. He dances, serves ice cream and brings all the energy. The man is a gem and should be everyone's bestie. If you don't see Ernesto, you're missing out on one of the best parts of this resort! While you're enjoying the pool, be on the lookout for him!
Won't likely return :(
Beds so comfortable, food was good, service was great. Dancing chef was the best. The trip planners were not great. First excursion was amazing, booked a second one being told it would include everything that it did not. They refused to help and we had a 12 hour day with one small snack, hours left on an island when told only 2 hours and one meal in 12 hours.
Ernesto
Ernesto is the best ice cream man and dancer in the whole resort. Ice cream was delicious and he’s so fun. Gracias Ernesto
We will be back!
Our family of four just spent 8 nights at Moon Palace Sunrise and we really had the time of our lives. The service here is the best we have had out of several all-inclusive resorts we have tried. The employees seem genuinely happy to be here. I believe this resort and its Palace Foundation does a better job than most of supporting its staff and it really shows. I had dinner last night with my youngest son at the Pier 8 Seafood restaurant and met the loveliest waiter, Javier Cuautle. He's is such a kind soul and deserves to be recognized for his wonderful service and positive energy. We had great conversation with Ivan at Momo restaurant and he was incredibly helpful navigating the menu and our allergies. Alejandra at the vacation planning desk was wonderful to us and helped us plan the perfect day trip to Isla Mujeres. Thank you so much, we had the BEST DAY ever! Ernesto the dancing ice cream man is a real treasure and a must visit for everyone staying here! He is so much fun!! Look for him near the pools in the afternoons. Be sure to note the employees who stand out to you and make your trip even better We have learned that they benefit from these mentions through an incentivized program that has many perks and benefits - it really makes a difference for your stay and in their careers. Cheers Moon Palace, you'll be seeing us again!
Moon Palace Sunrise ice cream
Ernesto the dancing chef is amazing! He made the atmosphere so much fun! Shaking his booty, making everyone dance and smile. He is the best! Our experience was made 100 times better because of him. Can't not wait to come back with my family. Give this man a raise.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
