Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman - Ko Olina, Oahu Kapolei Reviews from The Last Year
Don't believe the fancy pictures.
This place is far overrated, overpriced and the food is gross... Totally weird fusion food... plus 20% gratuity... No thanks.... Most folks go because there's nothing else!
So this is my first trip to Hawaii and I really wanted some
So this is my first trip to Hawaii and I really wanted some good food. After reading reviews I decided to check it out. This place first of all has really great food! They have really good pizza, burgers, and so many different options! The truffle fries are the greatest though. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and it's only 10 minutes away from resorts and public beaches. Their service has always been good every time we have went and their cream pies are amazing !

Come here for the Mai tai Poke tacos were good, but tiny Live music, loved the environment!
Food, drinks, ambience, and service were excellent.
Pineapple and pork pizza and White Walker were our favorite food/cocktail pairing. Music was great too; lots of 2000-2010 millennial indie rock and beach wave jams. Me, wife, and toddler considered it a highlight of our trip to Aulani.
Really a 2.
5 experience. The macadamia crusted fish was great, but the portion is much smaller than it has been in the past. Everything else we had to eat was mediocre and nothing arrived hot. There wasn't much value for our money. Service was very slow with long wait times between drink orders and getting our drinks, then waiting for apps, then waiting for mains, then again waiting for the check. Our waiter disappeared completely each time and never offered an explanation or apology for the delays. In the last month we've brought visitors here twice, because of the ambiance and sunset view, but there are too many other places around that offer the same or better, with consistently great food and service
Love this casual place in Ko Olina.
They use organic and local farm ingredients, as well as local beers. We were so tired from traveling that I failed to take pics of our food except the strawberry cream pie made from local Kula Farm strawberries. It was amazing! This was our third time here and every time it's been great and the hosts, servers and bartenders super nice and helpful.make sure you make a reservation for dinner! Happy hour is a good time to go too

This place has the best views! And the food and service is always amazing. Highly recommend the Mai Tai with your meal.
visited twice so far and we liked the food and ambience.
it can be busy in the afternoon so service is not consistent when they get busy. minus one star for that other than we enjoyed our time there. food was delicious yet tend to be on a bit higher end.
The worst hamburger and fries in the world.
Over cooked fries, over cooked burger. The burger had so much salt on it you could not eat it. Slow service and cold food . I hear the cook's name was No-Can-Cook.
Definitely worth a visit if you're nearby.
Parking lots are small and you must pay. Fries were delicious! The fresh catch of the day sandwich was soooo good. Still thinking about it now. The kids cheese pizza was tasty. Service was quick considering it was very busy when we visited. It's a chill kid friendly restaurant.
If I lived on Oahu, I’d come here all the time.
If you have food allergies, this is the place for you. They handle them better than the Disney resort across the street. And, their food is very good. My lettuce wrap fish tacos were yummy. They also have good choices for children and are happy to accommodate all special requests.
Happy hour is the time to go!
We came here for happy hour after visiting Aulani. We parked (paid) in this shopping area and walked to and from Aulani. We got here exactly around 3:30pm and were seated within 5 minutes. Their happy hour deals (3:30-5pm daily) are so good. 1/2 price appetizers and $13 pizzas (with some exceptions). We ordered the vegan tortilla soup, garlic truffle oil fries and a margherita pizza to share. There was live music during our meal. The tortilla soup and pizza were excellent. I wish the fries were crispier. However, for the happy hour deal, we would happily come back again. Unfortunately we did not have time.
We looked forward to our visit to Monkeypod while staying
We looked forward to our visit to Monkeypod while staying at the Disney Aulani resort. However, the menu wasn't what I would call inspired, although the staff were wonderfully helpful and attentive. We ordered a couple of happy hour appetizers, nothing to write home about, however. My husband enjoyed his Poke Tacos which were small, but tasty. My son had the steak, which he found very disappointing. The chicken wings were good? And the Thai inspired bowl wasn't bad, but everything lacked flavor and imagination. We sat outside, as with many Hawaiian restaurants, but then we had to battle the flies, and even with the little fly-fans, that's no fun.
Wonderful food and service.
We loved the ambiance and we loved that it was so close to the Aulani. The highly recommend the Buffalo wings with the whipped cheese/feta sauce. We will be back!
This was a delicious meal.
The cocktail special was so different and delicious. The service was good, but certain things weren't explained to us. We ordered a root beer and it was flat which was normal for this restaurant. I wish they would have explained that before we ordered instead of acting like we should have already known. Will definitely return, though.
Meh. Most expensive Mai tai I've ever had (I think
Meh. Most expensive Mai tai I've ever had (I think $18)....and I was shocked when it arrived served in a SMALL glass. Poke tacos are miniature, fries were cold. Fish tacos were good but not very filling. I expected more
What a fantastic surprise! So far best food on the island.
Fresh mahi-mahi not frozen all natural ingredients. Great service great atmosphere great live music!
The food was a tastey heaven in my mouth it's the best
The food was a tastey heaven in my mouth it's the best restaurant on Oahu. Definitely go to their happy hour at 3:30 you can get a pizza for $13.
Pretty good food but you definitely pay 'Disney' prices.
We tried several items and the only item I'd say I would not order again would be the Poke Tacos, that's a pretty weak menu item. On the positive side the burger was good, the chorizo pizza was delicious and the wings were something I'd absolutely order again. The service lacked and we were seated next to a fountain that smelled like chlorine, which definitely affected our review.
The service and ambiance are great.
As for food it is okay. I got the saimen noodles, it was salty for me. And they didn't fully cooked the noodles. It was all stuck together. Luckily they remade it, but I was still disappointed with the dish.
We had the best food and best experience here!!! Our
We had the best food and best experience here!!! Our waitress Jasmine was so kind, she knew we were celebrating our daughter's bday and she brought her a slice of pie with a candle. The food was delicious- the ribeye and macadamia crusted fish was amazing. We can't wait to come back!
Family friendly, delicious food.
Walking distance from Ko'olina resorts. Allergy friendly (server was very knowledgeable). Food was made fresh and you could tell. Also, their Mai Tai was delicious (in both alcoholic and non alcoholic versions).
Amazing happy hour
I’m tempted not to highlight the happy hour so people don’t make it too busy for me. 😁 We love this restaurant and typically come for happy hour and eat half off appetizers and pizza. Friendly staff and live music 3x/day.
Great place for dinner
This is a fun, lively and busy restaurant. I would definitely recommend reservations. We started with the signature Mai Tai (delicious) and the seasonal hard cider. Our server was super friendly and answered all our questions. The appetizer dumplings were great, but beware of the super spicy sauce if you are sensitive. The entrees were amazing. I had the macadamia crusted mahi mahi - so rich and delicious and my husband had the ahi steak which was super flavorful.
The service and the food was delicious
Although the yen is weak, I still wanted to eat something delicious, so I went to Monkeypod near the hotel. It was crowded, but we were seated right away and shown to a table on the second floor. The service was good, and the food came quickly after we ordered. The garlic truffle butter French fries were delicious and disappeared quickly (lol). I'd like to visit again when I go to Hawaii.
Please visit this restaurant.
What a nice meal and time at Monkey Pub. Curiously, open table somehow booked me at the location in Maui even though we are in Oahu. The reception staff indicated that this has happened more than once. They were able to seat us within 10 mins so Ty! My wife had a best ever mojito from the bar and I had a Thai curry fish and scallop special. Fantastic. The pizza and roasted chicken legs were also excellent. Service was nice, location great, nice vibe. Definitely recommended.
An absolutely amazing experience!
We were at a nearby resort about a year ago, but each time we wanted to grab a bit to eat, the lines here were out the door so we went elsewhere. Fast forward a year later and with a slightly larger group, the winning vote was to wait until we could get a table. The wait actually wasn't bad at all, and the food was absolutely amazing, and the service was truly next level! Everything we ordered was a hit, as we all sampled bites from each others plates. My only regret if there was one, would be that I didn't order more of the lobster deviled eggs appetizers. :) Monkey Pod Kitchen is our new go-to when we are on Oahu!
Great place to catch the football game and good food
Monkey pod had great atmosphere and good food. The staff were personable and offered good recommendations. This restaurant is an easy walk from Aulani.
Delicious food at moderate prices at an expensive resort area.
Delicious food. Service was excellent - restaurant was very well run. We came back for another meal.
Do not recommend.
We ordered Pina Colada with a Chambord shot. They put lemon juice in the pina colada which completely destroyed the flavor and clashed with the Chambord. We also had the potstickers which were good. Then we ordered the fish and chips. The fish was very dry and the french fries were so over fried they were completely charred. We had to dig through to find a few we could eat. Will not be back
Good Food
My wife and I went here for dinner. We started with the poke tacos, the ahi tuna was light and complimented by the ginger and avocado cream sauce on delicious wonton shells. We both had a pizza, I had the Margherita and my wife had the Kalua Pork & Pineapple. they were both very good, my wife's pork, roasted pineapple, jalapeno and green onions were a good combination. We were quite satisfied with the food that we also visited their restaurant on Maui.
Nice Alternative if Staying at Aulani Disney Resort
Nice alternative if staying at the Aulani Disney Resort Hotel where we found the food overpriced and of average quality. Monkeypod is a small restaurant chain with 4 locations in the Hawaiian Islands. The Monkeypod at Ko Olina is a big place and has a lively scene. Creative drink menu and a large beer list. The food was very good although the fish tacos I ordered were just okay and I didn't enjoy my meal as much as my wife with what she ordered.
