La Nonna Ristorante Vail Reviews from The Last Year
Fast service and great pasta.
We were a walk in with no reservation and the hostess was very nice and accommodating
Only So-So. Great food and inedible food at same table
Our experience was very mixed. Server explained all of the dishes and pointed out the calamari and wild boar pasta as two of the best dishes in the house. One couple ordered the Caesar salad which looked fresh and delicious, and the right size for a starter. We had the calamari and it was fried tough, almost burnt, rather than light, and fluffy. The fried squid looked like it came from a freezer bag, rather than made in-house. The gnocchi bolognese was heavenly; soft pillowy pasta in a very tasty bolognese sauce, not at all heavy. And the tagliatelle with lemon and fresh spring peas would bring you back on another visit for that dish alone. However, the wild boar tagliatelle was cold, did not melt the unnecessary grated mozzarella it comes with, and the pasta sat in an inch of grease that drained from the cold meat. It was inedible. So disappointing as the restaurant is lovely, the view of the ski runs is spectacular, and the pasta is homemade.
Hands down our favorite meal in Vail!! I don't even like
Hands down our favorite meal in Vail!! I don't even like pasta that much but loved this!! Small, cute, intimate restaurant so reservations are suggested ! We had an amazing experience! We began with cocktails and some appetizers! Octopus was excellent and tuna was one of the best presentations of tuna crudo o have ever had! Then we had the pasta course and this pasta hater finished her dish / maybe it was the 4 hour hike that preceded this - maybe it was the truffle as I love truffle anything - or maybe it was just that damn good! A spectacular meal in Vail and one that took the honor of best meal of this trip !!
Best Italian restaurant in Vail.
Fresh food & good options! Staff was nice (which is apparently hard to come by in Vail). Went in the summertime and it was super hot fyi.

We arrive at 5 pm on a Friday and it was already attracting a crowd. We were offered a Splendid table on the 2nd floor patio overlooking the main drag (and beyond to the ski slopes) with most welcomed and precious shade. We were ably and courteously served by Max (who has an unmistakable laugh) who guided us along each step of a great meal without hurry. He recommended the split of a most pleasantly surprising Pinot Grigio (the one at the top of the list) that started us perfectly as we considered the menu. What was first served was the best octopus EVER! Tender, not chewy, in a splendid lightly spiced olive oil that we were encourage to sop up with the focaccia, which was lightly toasted. Entrees delivered included a veal scallopine that was topped with a thin slice of pancetta and a white very thin cheese slice. Creamed but stiff mashed potatoes and a garlic sautéed spinach were well matched to the veal. My wife had the Crevette pasta with a side of the same spinach which she enjoyed judged by the few remnants left of either. We spent with tip $100 each. Not bad for Vail Center! Google takes you to the front of another restaurant at street level. La Noona is on the second floor with it's entrance located back from the intersection 300' +/- up a wee bit off a wide pedestrian alley.
Omgeeeee food is to die for! Great service and hands down
Omgeeeee food is to die for! Great service and hands down best Italian restaurant in Vail!!
Great family dinner in Vail
Great reasonably priced family dinner in Vail. My family of five (2 adults, 3 teens) all loved what they ordered. Nice wine list by the glass. Casual Italian restaurant with very good food.
La Nonna is one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever
La Nonna is one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to, period. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was on point. The restaurant has two dining areas and limited seating at the bar. Make reservations well in advance.
This place was recommended highly by everyone we asked.
Although it was summertime, we walked in and easily got a seat outside for two. I loved the look of outside and the decorations to go along with the Italian feel. Sean was our server and he was amazing! Gave many recommendations based off of things we liked and what went best together. The drinks were phenomenal, the calamari was delicious, and the view made it all the better! I would highly recommend this place to anyone and I know if I make it back to Vail again I will stop there!
Food was decent, but what really turned me off this
Food was decent, but what really turned me off this restaurant was the service. My boyfriend and I (21 & 22 years old) are visiting Vail as a last minute weekend getaway and decided to try this place. As soon as we walked up to the host stand we were told by the manager there were going to be no tables available and to find a seat at the bar. Originally not an issue, but we later overheard the same manager offering a couple sitting by us who also didn't have a reservation a table on the patio. When we sat down, we were approached by the bartender who was nice but definitely viewed us as college students. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe, however the bartender determined I didn't know what I was ordering and proceeded to ask me if I was sure with my decision then explained the dish to me. Not only is this strange but also partially offensive because the man next to me ordered it, but was not questioned. Once we got our food everything was fine, until we asked for our check. As soon as we made it known we were leaving, they began clearing everything from in front of us then proceeded to wipe down the bar while we were still sitting there. As a fellow employee in the hospitality industry, I find it completely unprofessional to wipe down a table when a guest is present unless there was a spill. The entire meal made us feel unwanted and uncomfortable. Although the food was good, I will not be returning to this restaurant.
Delicious.
I love the gnocchi, the best i have had. Nice service. Very busy make sure you make reservation in advance. Will come back again next time when I'm in town
This is my favorite high end establishment in Vail village.
The food is outstanding, the service top notch and the ambiance is very nice. I am a frequent patron and have never left a meal disappointed. I often get the Wild Boar entree and it is exceptional. On our last visit we shared the lemon pie and wish we ordered 2. Go. You will have a great meal!
Too expensive for the value and too loud to carry on a conversation
We went here for our wedding anniversary dinner with another couple. We got married in Vail , ski there all the time and wanted a special evening. We heard a lot of hype about La Nonna. We expected more, but, it was really just average , nothing to write home about in terms of superior food. The portions were smallish , the drinks were way overpriced , even for Vail. The music was obnoxiously loud Eurobeat. We were told we could not have a drink in the bar while we waited for our table even though we had a reservation and we were on time. La Nonna needs to get over itself and serve reasonably priced real food to real skiers. We have traveled all over the world. This year we had superb upscale Italian food in Thailand and Switzerland ,for a fraction of the price as La Nonna.
Great Italian meal in a nice setting
We had a fabulous meal at this restaurant. Highly recommend reservations a few days in advance. My wife and I shared an order of mussels and a dinner salad as starters and then we each had a pasta dish for our mains. We split a nice bottle of wine, suggested by the waitress, from a reasonable wine list. For reservations a deposit is required and also note that the restaurant may place a time limit on the seating, typically about 1-1/2 hours, which is adequate. Besides the great food, the staff, and especially our server, was excellent. The setting is also nice.
Not what is advertised
This is marketed on their website an an intimate spot, cozy and family oriented. It is a big restaurant playing club music at a very loud level. Almost surreal. Our server was great. Food was very good unti entree then failed. Worst part the owner or whoever he was held course in the corner ordering countless bottles of wine, visited by the chef for 40 minutes and the other co owner NEVER left his table. We are so sad how this turned out
Delicious food! Italian, cool ambience, cozy and romantic ,
Delicious food! Italian, cool ambience, cozy and romantic , love the menu! Lovely location and service
We got lucky and got a reservation last minute.
The food was pretty good aside from the lobster truffle pasta and the drinks were decent. I loved the vibe at the restaurant. Definitely coming back!
Despite the fact it's still hard to get a table, it's weird
Despite the fact it's still hard to get a table, it's weird to say the quality really went down in 23/24. Four meals here have all been bad this season. Gluey, overcooked, cold pastas. Bad attitude at the hostess stand upon arrival. Lackluster table service. It's vail and I'm ok spending a small fortune on a decent dinner, but they were 0-4 this winter/spring season. Hopefully next year they manage to retain some better staff and improve the food quality and I'll be able to edit this review.
We had such a great time eating here last night! We were
We had such a great time eating here last night! We were staying at beaver creek but my girlfriend loves Italian food and has been wanting to come here for a really long time so we drove the short 20 mins to Vail. The village has a free parking garage (after 4pm) and it's only a 3 min walk to the restaurant. As soon as you walk into La Nonna there's a coat check. From there you walk upstairs and you're greeted by what seems like your family. Everyone is so friendly and ready to make your experience amazing. Our servers name was Alena and let me tell you something... she was THE nicest, MOST helpful, MOST cheerful person you've ever met! She really did do everything she could to make sure our dinner was the best it could be. Now for dinner. To start.. for someone who's not super familiar with Italian, this menu was stressful.. You basically need a translator just to figure out what's what.. Though I can see how it would be fun and part of the experience for most people. We started off with some bread and oil (FOCACCIA del GIORNO). For my meal I ordered the TAGLIATELLE VERDI al CINGHIALE. It was really good but personally not one of my favorite dishes. I think I would have really enjoyed the GNOCCHI alla BOLOGNESE, It looked amazing! My girlfriend got the RAVIOLI TRE FUNGHI which was soooo good. For dessert we got the the chocolate mousse and the tiramisu. Both were absolutely amazing. One very important tip if you're wanting to try this restaurant.. Make reservations way ahead of time. We called a month before and they only had two times available for that day. I'm not sure if it's always like that but I can definitely see this place staying booked. The service was great, food was great, atmosphere was great, and we really enjoyed our time eating here:)
simply the best!
this spot was a cut above every other italian restaurant in Vail Valley, in every way. From the service to the food, it was excellent! After introducing herself, our server asked if we had any dietary allergies. It was so nice to be asked, instead of having to remember to mention it. and...the calamari was, hands down, the best ive ever had.
it is 100% worth making a reservation a month in advance to
it is 100% worth making a reservation a month in advance to the day! great food, would eat here multiple times during a four day trip if possible!
The ambiance had a cozy feeling.
More of a date night than a family night vibe. Love the fresh made daily pasta. I loved all the pastas I've tried. Large wine selection. Service was great but you can tell it was a busy night. The restaurant was packed for a weekday. I would make your reservations early! I also loved that they had a coat check since it was nice and warm inside.
La Nonna = La Don't
Wow! What a colossal disappointment. Olive Garden would have been so much better. It was our 33rd anniversary. The lady that took our reservations was super nice. We arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation and had a nice Manhattan and glass of chardonnay in the bar. Then we were seated at a nice table in the upper room. So far, so good. Our waitress was a bit gruff, especially when she dumped our $18 pichet of wine into our glasses, but OK. Kind of like Berta on Two and a Half Men. Our calamari was good and well-seasoned. So far, so good. But then the train went off the track. My wife had the gnocchetti with sun dried tomatoes and I had the gnocchi with Bolognese sauce. Bolognese is never really deep in flavor but this was just on this side of OK. The gnocci was OK because it wasn’t too dense. The dish was a 3 out of five. However, the gnocchetti was a different matter. It was just a big bowl of glommy, sticky pasta in a salty goo of pesto-ish sauce. As stated above, Olive Garden would never serve such a heaping bowl. Home-made? When and in whose home? When we declined dessert, Berta (the waitress) seemed to take it personally. Then, then worst moment arrived. Along with our bill, Berta put down a votive candle cup (think Dollar Store), filled with little glass beads, a birthday candle, and a Party City Happy Anniversary thing onto our table. Geez! If that is what you are going to do, just don’t do anything. Cheesy doesn’t even begin to describe this. Even the people at the next table were laughing. When we have celebrated our anniversary in Vail the last six years at other restaurants, they not only served up some good food, but also some recognition that they appreciated us spending our special night (and some bucks) at their establishment. As we were leaving, the manager (?) asked if everything was fine, my wife (as she is wanted to do) let her know what a joke the meal and the anniversary thing was. Of course, no apology was forthcoming. The bottom line – there are much better restaurants in Vail, especially for the price that you will pay. If you are out for a special occasion, you can do much better that La Nonna.
My son had a nosebleed so we asked for our food to be
My son had a nosebleed so we asked for our food to be packed up so that we could leave. The server told us everything was in the bag but when we got back to our hotel, we had one entree completely missing and half the dessert was missing as well. Super ridiculous for a seven hundred dollar bill. No one picks up the phone either.
Sat at the bar, enjoyed delicious cocktails.
Calamari was fantastic, followed by the flavorful braised wild boar ragu and surprisingly amazing linguine with seafood. The pasta was a delightful surprise. Ended on a high note with a light and decadent crème brûlée. Ambiance was lovely too. Highly recommended
Definitely a go to in Vail.
Great food, and great service menu and wine list. All fantastic. Plus the most glamorous owner.
Very nice restaurant but overpriced and did not live up to
Very nice restaurant but overpriced and did not live up to expectations. Pasta was not what everyone said it would be. Guess they never had Italian food in NYC or NJ.
Homemade pasta.
The pasta is perfect. Excellent homemade soups. The specials are cooked perfectly. Whether it be halibut or veal scallopini gelato is homemade and super high delicious creamy flavor.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
