Kyoto Tokyu Hotel Kyoto Reviews from The Last Year
Good hotel overall; room for a few improvements!
We had a nice big room (especially by Japanese standards), a good bed, and high-quality amenities. The breakfast buffet was very good, but pity they had no cappuccino and it would have been nice to have more fruit selection. Excellent water pressure for shower. The atrium at the lobby area was nice, but kind of weird to go downstairs to reception. Location is not great (nothing much around the hotel), but their shuttle service to the Kyoto Station is very helpful.
The worst breakfast organization I have ever experienced
The hotel itself is OK but the breakfast service is more than awful. There are people waiting at the entrance, through the lobby to the elevators and then people are taken to their tables one by one. The corridors are so narrow that you can hardly pass each other. Almost half an hour has passed before you can drink your first cup of tea. So disgusting to say the least.
Most Inhospitable Hospitality Experience - Truly Pathetic Combo of Pretense Friendliness and Utter Uselessness
Pros: Friendly staff Pleasant interior Good in-room amenities (except bedding) Useful hotel shuttle Cons: 1. Major language barriers every step of the way, even concierge and reception. This is a 4-star premiere hotel in Japan's second largest tourist destination. Yet, virtually no English is spoken by staff, including "Upper Management". Special shout out to Mr. Yamamoto, a so-called general manager, who needed a translator to understand our concerns. Wouldn't English be the FIRST pre-requisite to run an international hotel? Having visited >40 countries, I can't think of one hotel where the bar is so low. Meritocracy and putting best talent in leadership role? Not here. 2. Horrendous bedding. Prison-grade extra firm mattresses + absurdly flat and useless pillows. Noting could be done about the mattresses (which created pressure points almost instantly), but pillows! We requested softer/cushier pillows thrice! We were told the hotel ran out of because it's a high season?! I couldn't believe my ears. 3. The Gym is located in a separate building and is hard to find. I had the misfortune of "asking for directions" from one of their staff. Again no English but the lady pointed me in gym's direction and managed to eek out "need key". I nodded, fully confident she meant my room key. What other key could she possibly mean? I learned soon enough after my room key wouldn't let me in. Back at the Reception I was told that I need to fill a PAPER FORM to receive a gym key, which incidentally looked like an oversized conference badge and wouldn't even fit in a pocket. That form, aside from being a bureaucratic time-waster, asked me to certify that I didn't drink any alcohol before gym use. I told the front desk to print 100 copies of their form, make a tight roll and sit on it. Incidentally, the "gym" has space for <=3 people and exactly 7 pieces of equipment, of which 2 are treadmills. A selection clearly made by someone who's a fitness theorist, not a practitioner. 4. Hotel restaurants serve very mediocre food at x3 price of local restaurants. Worse, their room service ends at 10PM. My family happened to be checking in at 11PM so no food. Bad as this is, no one bothered with a list of late dining options for late arriving guest. Staff is not trained not only in English, but in ANY manner of problem solving. If it weren't for another guest who happened to be walking by and suggested that we try UberEats, all 4 of us would have gone to bed starving. 5. Low quality breakfast, using the cheapest ingredients. I've seen better fare for sale at gas stations. Their kitchen has a flat stove intended for making omelets and fresh breakfast. They even had staff milling around and doing unrelated chores. However, we were told the made-to-order station hasn't yet reopened due to COVID. Really? You clowns are still using COVID as an excuse for laziness? That is pathetic. Guest Tip: steer clear of their "smoked salmon", unless you don't mind eating smelly clay. 6. Literally fed up with hotel food, we decided to book a table at a local restaurant. Again zero help from their concierge. We were asked to make our choice and "they would be happy to make a reservation for us". That's hot how concierge works, but were quite exasperated by that point so we went upstairs and did our own Google search!!! When we called the front desk, we were told we'd have to come dow to complete another PAPER FORM where among other things, we'd have to agree to a ~$100 room charge in case of a no show. Turns out restaurants don't require a deposit. This is done to "protect hotel's reputation"!!!! This property is so concerned about its reputation with restaurants that it's fully oblivious about losing face with its guests? This is bewildering. OK, Kyoto Tokyu Hotel, now is your turn to try and white-wash the situation, as you have done in previous reviews. Let me help you get started. Feel free to copy/paste. "Dear ... thank you for taking the time ... sincerely appreciate your feedback ... will help to improve the quality .... regret to learn that .... wasn't the experience you expected .... aspire to provide the highest levels of service .... exceed your expectations in the future .... thank you very, very, very, much. P.S. Mr. Yamamoto, your offer to comp our breakfast for ONE day is too generous (especially considering our breakfast was included in room rate). Keep the change. Consider it my donation toward some Hospitality management + English courses for you. I assure you these would do far more to help you save face than your reservation deposit tactics.
A lovely hotel, super breakfasts, and make sure you visit Nara
Very nice clean hotel. Super dining room, with an excellent and varied breakfast buffet. Room was a good size with very comfortable beds. There is a free shuttle service which runs regularly to and from the station, we found this very convenient and it only took about 10 minutes. An excelent service. From a personal point of view I would have chosen a hotel nearer the centre to allow us to walk about in the evening and chose restaurants.
Quiet, clean hotel but not a lot nearby
Pros: Taxi stand at hotel entrance Air purifier in the room, but the buttons are in Japanese. Not sure if there’re English instructions available. 2 hotel restaurants to choose from for breakfast: buffet restaurant with Japanese and western fares and a traditional Japanese sit down restaurant Laundromat within a 10 minute walk Concierge available There’s a temple next to the hotel Cons: Not a lot of restaurants nearby. There is a hotel shuttle that can take you to Kyoto station where there are many eateries. There are some restaurants within walking distance but I think one would have to walk on a pedestrian overpass in order to get to most of them. There is a restaurant and a convenience store around the corner, probably around a 10 minute walk. (Could be less, but it was cold and windy when I did the walk so it seemed longer.)
DESIGN
The Hotel has a very beautiful design with waterfalls and many amenities in the room. The good shower and smart mirror and toilet are very useful. The breakfast is a bit disorganized and the service is not very good either. The bathroom appears to be made from a container
Tokyu Stay Kyoto Sakaiza - Shinkyogokudori
Our stay in Hotel Tokyo Stay Sakaiza Shijo Kawaramachi was the most beautiful experience in Japan. This hotel is centrally located with all amenities and all shopping, restaurants, Train sSation & Bus Stations, within couple of minutes walk. Loved the room, good pillows, excellent bathroom, a small refrigerator & a microwave in the room - even has a washing machine! Would highly recommend this hotel to all my friends & family when visiting Kyoto!
Fulfill Expectations
Kyoto Tokyu Hotel is located close to Kyoto Station. There is a free hotel shuttle that goes back and forth between there and hotel that runs around every half hours. Very convenience because we used public transportation to do our own sightseeing. Public transportation ends back at Kyoto Station. Our room was very nice. Staff service was exemplary. Japanese breakfast buffet was excellent. A small number of western food choices.
Great stay
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel in Kyoto. We had a room for three people and it was spacious. The beds and the pillows were so comfortable. The staff was amazing and very helpful. It's about 20 mins walk from Kyoto station but they have a shuttle bus that runs back and forth event half an hour. Just be mindful of that if you want to be closer to the station. The breakfast was delicious with many options. All in all it was a great stay.
Comfortable hotel with good location
Very comfortable and well located hotel. It has a bus to the station with established schedules. In front, there is a very convenient and varied restaurant, since we liked the ones at the hotel. Large and comfortable rooms, although the pillows need a change. Two blocks away there is a laundromat that operates 24 hours a day and is very convenient. Good breakfasts, although I would add a little more variety for Western people. Very friendly people.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
