Kitchen Sink Supper Club Beacon Reviews from The Last Year

My husband and I had driven up to Beacon from the city to tour Bannerman Island and after perusing reviews online, we decided to try the Sunday Supper at Kitchen Sink and we are glad we did. What a wonderful place! The staff is very welcoming and you can tell they all work as a team to showcase the beautiful food. Such interesting combinations of flavors but nothing overwrought. And perfect portions! It was too hot to sit in the lovely garden but next time we are "up the river" we will head back to Kitchen Sink for sure!

We love tasting menus, so we decided to try this since we are staying in Hudson Valley region. I need to try to be fair though since we did one 2-star and one 3-star Michelin restaurants in NYC this same week. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and down to earth (LOL, compared to the starred restos). Communal seating meant we were at a table with a mom/daughter pair. It turned out lovely, and it was great to converse/share experiences with new dinner companions. Food from local farms were used. Dishes were unique and tasty. From this menu, the eggplant, gazpacho and green crepe were favorites. Would love to come back again as the menu changes frequently.

We had the most incredible dinner and more importantly a delightful experience. It was like theater on a plate. Every bite was better than the last. It is an intimate space that proves the best things come in small packages. Everyone in the room felt like friends by the end of the evening. Specifically, we came to enjoy the Anthony Bourdain-themed dinner. Pairing wine to each course was perfect. The chef brought us on Bourdain's journey through every unique bite. We didn't want the evening to end. We are thrilled the Kitchen Sink is catering our wedding in September.
Went here for Valentine's Day, our first dining out date.
I usually cook on this day but decided to venture out and see what's out there. Was intrigued what KSS had to offer and decided to do the chef's tasting menu. They are only open for supper on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The place is intimate and the tasting menu was presented on the table with the optional wine pairing. From the moment we had the first bite, it was just an experience. Bite after bite was a delight for our taste buds. Although the ingredients were familiar, the taste was not. It truly needed the attention of your taste buds to enjoy each bite. You don't know what you don't know and each bite of this course was phenomenal. The pork that was served was a cross breed of an Iberico and Berkshire hog (I was told) from a natural farm. That parsnip puree and its sauce was unlike I've ever tasted. I literally wanted to lick that plate clean. The meat may have been overcooked as it was a little hard to cut into it. If you want to experience a Chef's tasting locally at Beacon, head to their website for reservations and check out the menu.

Incredible food and service! We have dined here for 2 different menus and we definitely will be coming back!
We went with another couple for a weekend trip to Beacon.
We picked Beacon because there is good golf (Centennial and Union Vale) and good food in the area, such as the Kitchen Sink Supper Club. To be honest, we were not optimistic when we first sat down because the chef explained that the seasonal tasting would be a "celebration of tomatoes." I had selected this restaurant based on online reviews so I felt horrible because my wife and the other couple do not really like tomatoes. Fortunately for me, they were all willing to give it a shot; although, they did really have a choice since we had to prepay for the meals when we made the reservation. Interestingly enough and fortunately for them, this "celebration of tomatoes" did not mean that every dish was tomato-forward in taste or presentation. In fact, the presence of the tomatoes was barely noticeable in a few dishes such as in the ceviche and the salad. I am usually not a fan of ceviche but I really enjoyed this one because of the corn 3-ways and the scallops. It just goes to show that you should not dismiss this place just because you do not usually like the dishes on their seasonal menu; you should give them a shot. One of the dishes in their regular menu is an MLT: mackerel (!) bacon, tomato and greens on a brioche. Luckily, this was changed that night to a delicious creamy tomato soup. The only thing missing was a grilled cheese sandwich to dip but with so many courses, we were probably better off without it. The stars of the night were the inside out ravioli and the Wagyu beef steak tomato. As the name implies, the tomato sauce was inside the ravioli and it was quite the flavor bomb. The wagyu steak cubs with accompanying tomato cubes were perfectly cooked and so well seasoned, and the cubes complemented each other perfectly. I did not know what to expect from a tomato dessert but as with a couple of other dishes, you could not really tell there were tomatoes in there, which was just fine for my fellow diners because they were tomatoed out at that point.
My dinner was spoiled by a service error.
While the server apologized, she neither offered to make things right nor asked how she could. In detail, we were a party of three; as entrees, I ordered maitake, my companions scampi and lamb tagine. The server first brought the scampi and maitake, but misidentifying the maitake, announced it as the tagine and placed it in front of my companion who had ordered tagine; my companion, not knowing what to expect, naturally started eating when I encouraged everyone not to wait for me to get my food. When the server came back a couple of minutes later with the lamb and put it in front of me, I immediately saw and pointed out the mistake. But by that time my own entree looked like someone else's leftovers, and perhaps a quarter of what was always ever going to be a dainty portion was now gone. If I'd initiated a fuss, say by sending my food back to the kitchen, that would have embarrassed my companions. And the staff knew I was a vegan, so I was never just going to have some of my companion's lamb to round out my dinner. So beyond missing the pleasure of seeing the presentation, I actually walked out the restaurant hungry despite ordering a $39 entree. It's worth noting that this establishment always includes the service charge in the bill. BTW, the dish was delicious.
Amazing food, service & ambiance.
Love the Chef's Tasting Events. So creative and delicious!!!!
Cute restaurant with ok food.
We had the carrot salad and caponata which was ok. The shrimp scampi with bucatini lacked garlic and seasoning -- the shrimp was bland. Although the pasta was nicely al dente, it did not seem like it absorbed the sauce. Perhaps it was not tossed. It was pretty soupy. The best thing we had was the bolognese. The sauce and pasta were integrated well and the dish was tasty, well seasoned, with deep tomato and venison flavor.
Delicious and very creative menu.
We had a lovely time and hope to return the next time we're in NY.
