Husk Charleston Reviews from The Last Year
I visited Charleston and came here for dinner.
I will say, some dishes were better than others, but overall I enjoyed my experience. Ambiance / Service: from the outside, the restaurant is beautiful. The inside isn't nearly as nice as the outside, but it was still an enjoyable dinner. I wore a dress to dinner, but you can definitely dress casual. Service was great - our waiter was very friendly. Food: from my experience, the appetizers were the main star of the show. The entrees were a bit disappointing / underwhelming and the dessert had potential, but was a big miss. -Storey Farms Deviled Eggs: I love deviled eggs and these were the most delicious ones I've ever had. Comes with 2 eggs (4 halves). -Pimento Cheese, Country Ham, Biscuits, Pickles: ok, I will say that this was my first exposure to pimento cheese and I'm obsessed. This app is seemingly simple and so satisfying. Great to share. Salty, savory, sour, sweet - perfection! -Heirloom Tomato & Peach Panzanella: get this. It is sooo good. The peaches and tomatoes were so ripe. I loved everything about this dish. -Roasted Chicken: this entree has potential, but I found it underwhelming. Loved the crispy chicken skin, but the actual meat was dry. I also felt this dish was undersalted. -GA Pork Chop: this too was underwhelming. Needed more sauce & seasoning. But I actually enjoyed this more than the chicken - it had more flavor and was fairly juicy. -Hearth Baked Skillet Cornbread: I personally did not enjoy. Bottom was slightly burnt. And the taste of the cornbread was a bit unusual (for me) and not something I enjoyed. -Dessert was some type of peach tart. Peaches were delicious, but the actual tart didn't seem cooked all the way. It overwhelmingly tasted like alcohol and it was goopy, so I assume it wasn't fully cooked. We didn't finish unfortunately.
This was the best food I've ever had.
We came here for brunch. Service was outstanding.
Loved the separate house " Lounge/ cocktail bar".
Lily did an amazing job making sure we were comfortable. We made our way to the main house for dinner. Our server was underwhelming as they did not recommend or guide us at all through the menu. The first course took far too long to show up and was delivered by who we think was a manager. They apologized and mentioned sending out a nice dessert tasting after dinner ( which did not happen). Saying this the deviled eggs were very tasty . The corn bread and grits were extremely flavorful. Grouper cheeks maybe not paired well with their Thai chili sauce. Aesthetically very pleasing restaurant ( perhaps individual lighting at tables) and bar. Everyone outside of our server was very warm and inviting,
Service was world class ~ food was mostly delicious.
Steer towards the oysters, pork and the pimento cheese and away from the scallop tartare.
So disappointed in Husk.
The restaurant was lovely but we were seated at a table right above the air conditioning vent. The server did her best to help us by putting down some panels to block the flow but I don't want to shiver through my meal. The food was very disappointing. I've been to other Sean Brock restaurants and loved the food but this was a let down. The appetizer my daughter and I shared was the fig torte. It was a mess of a dish. You couldn't even find the torte as it was pushed to the side under some greens. Instead all you got was an overly sweet mess of cheese forward on the dish. Not very appealing. The vegetable entree was somewhat interesting and the potatoes were very good but the rest was mundane and pretty tasteless. The sauces on some of them were not better than grocery store dipping level. The duck was tasty, nicely cooked but overpowered by the peas and sauce plus the slices of peach on top were not ripe and offered no sweetness. We had two desserts--coffee mouse - absolutely awful, tasted like instant coffee whipped up with some weirdly strange fennel ice cream. Again inedible. The blueberry dessert was much better. I really expected more from this restaurant not to mention that it cost over $200 for the meal. The best thing about the restaurant was the server. She was excellent and even took the coffee dessert off the bill as she saw that we were not eating it.
It's a pass
We heard good things about this restaurant and you need to make reservations. We checked the menu before we went and both of us were not excited about the menu. We went anyway because we wanted to know about the hype. It's OK. The food wasn't amazing, it didn't wow us at all. My boyfriend got the shortrib and I got the swordfish. Shortrib was good. Swordfish had small pieces of fish and lots of sauce. It wasn't much of a dish. We had the fired oysters for appetizers and it was lackluster. We watched Youtube videos beforehand and we mentioned the secret menu and heard we can get a burger but was told that it's only at the bar. The waitress was very matter of fact. She knew the menu very well.
My family and I ate at Husk on our first night in
My family and I ate at Husk on our first night in Charleston, South Carolina. It definitely was an amazing introduction to Lowcountry food. The tuna Crudo was amazing. The sauce was delicious and had just the right touch of flavor, chili, oil, and complexity. Wife and I had the short rib which was very good. My son had the swordfish, which had a interesting smoky sauce. Ambience is very nice and service was impeccable. Great dinner!
Way overhyped and extremely overpriced.
My bill was nearly $500 for me and my wife. We did have $120 porterhouse and a few drinks, but for the most part it was just okay. Did I mention the air was out???? I mean come on....... It was nearly 100* yesterday. I could have given it a 4 star, but not when I'm eating in a sweat box.
The food is always over the top excellent with excellent
The food is always over the top excellent with excellent staff! It's the second time we've eaten here and just as wonderful as we remember
The food and service were great! .
.. but then toss in the summer breeze we got to enjoy while eating on second floor porch made everything that much better!!
The restaurant is very lovely.
Service was great. However, the food was just ok. While our meal was not bad, it left little to be desired. Lack of flavor and seasoning. Chicken was well cooked but bland. Cocktails were good. There are definitely better restaurants in Charleston. Over priced for what you got.
Snobby service and an inventive "precious" menu
If you like snobby service and an inventive "precious" menu, this is the place for you. I have eaten in fine restaurants all over the world including plenty with what I would call "modern twist on classics" or "inventive and untraditional" with lots of unexpected ingredients listed per dish. Sometimes it's delightful. Sometimes, like Husk, it is self conscious, snobby and a chore to understand the menu. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask what "pine needles" as an ingredient in a dish consists of. Truly the only thing I could think of was perhaps they introduced a hint of it by burning it and using the smoke. As if it were the stupidest question/suggestion in the world, it was explained that, no, the pine needles were used in the broth. I am pleased to report that it tasted great, but you get the picture. The food is actually good but all the dishes were rich and heavy but that may have been because of those we ordered. It's a very pretty place but surprisingly noisy. Obviously many reviewers loved this place, but, because people more often write reviews when they like a place, I wanted to give an alternative view.
Memorable Dinner
Incredible experience due to atmosphere, friendly staff, timely service and great food. It’s important to note menu changes daily. The restaurant is very accommodating on mixing sides of the main entree. We ordered 4 appetizers and 2 entrees. The 4 appetizers included: deviled eggs, shrimp dumplings, pimento cheese with buttermilk biscuits, husk pickles, and thinly sliced ham and lastly, golden fried rice with fried chicken. The chicken with rice appetizer was slightly greasy, but had an outstanding flavor. The 2 main “supper” dishes were roasted chicken substituted with collard greens and the second entree was gemelli with green tomatoes, okra and crab. A side of corn bread was also added to the order with whipped butter. We appreciated the manager walking around checking on tables. Overall, experience was excellent!
Delicious food at Husk!
We booked this restaurant months in advance as it has wonderful reviews. It is a fabulous historic home and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the shrimp dumplings in a ham broth for an appetizer, and had snapper for my entree.
Lunch was Lovely!
We had a wonderful lunch at Husk. We grabbed a quick drink from the bar and sat outside while we waited for our table. Fun to sit on the historic porch and watch the world go by. Our lunch was delicious, service excellent. I highly recommend the country ham biscuit with pimento cheese and pickles. Yum!
WOW! Amazing food!
What an amazing experience. The restaurant is already touted as one of the finest in Charleston. The menu has a date on it because the menu changes based on the Chef's choice. The food is non-traditional home cooking. For instance the deviled eggs.. I mean it's a deviled egg right? WRONG. I swear when I ate the deviled egg I went through 4 phases of tastes. From creamy to a bite of fire, to a mustard tang and finally back to creamy. You will need reservations for sure. The place is VERY busy and you are not rushed. You are expected to stay and enjoy. And the price? Very reasonable for a top notch restaurant. HIGHLY recommend!
Beard Status Supported!
Greeted and seated promptly. Service excellent. Deviled eggs delicious, compote yummy, fried chicken cooked to perfection. The strawberry cocktail was the perfect compliment to the meal. Definitely meets the high standards of a Beard Award. Keep it going!!!!!
As good as the reviews state
I'm glad i was able to snag a reservation once I arrived in Charleston. Since i was a bit early, i read the menu outside. Actually, i was rather unimpressed, but knowing the high ratings, i gave it a try. Ordered the flounder with clams (3) and bacon and broccolini. Oh, my. The sunchoke sauce accompanying the fish was superb, the side of grits with white cheese was delicious, and a final tangerine shebert was also great. Really an enjoyable meal. It was also nice to have a nicely located table and not be relegated to a hidden spot as a single diner. Overall a great dining experience.
Excellent
Excellent waitstaff especially Leslie. Food was ample and delicious. Caramelized cheesecake is recommended!!!!!!!
Lousy Bartender, Great Food in restaurant.
We came for drinks at the Bar and then dinner at the Restaurant. (Bar is a separate building from the restaurant.) We were really disappointed at the bar. The bartender was unfriendly and had an attitude. Usually, bartenders are so friendly and helpful we were disappointed. We stayed for one drink and then left. We asked a few questions about the history and Husk but he could not bothered. We took away two Review stars for the Bar. We give the 3 stars left for the Restaurant. We enjoyed the delicious southern food and our waiter was friendly and helpful with making choices.

Husk is a cool renovated house turned restaurant that is known for having a different menu every day. Our group of three came in on a Sunday for brunch and it wasn't too busy, but I do recommend reservations. To start, we had the buttermilk doughnuts with lemon glaze and my friends loved them but there was something about them I didn't like. It wasn't the lemon glaze.. that was delicious. But idk I just was not obsessed with the doughnut taste itself. For meals, I had the fried chicken with honey drizzle and a biscuit. The chicken was so crispy and delicious and the biscuit was too. However, it did feel like it was missing some gravy. The mushroom and Boursin omelette was good but again nothing to brag about. My friend got the fried rice with beef short rib and an egg and that was by far the favorite meal of the bunch. It was delicious and full of flavor. Definitely order this if it's on your menu! Husk advertised their mimosas served with fresh squeezed orange juice, but unfortunately the drink itself just tasted like watered down champagne... bummer! The espresso martinis were my least favorite of the whole weekend because they were VERY strong and tasted like straight vodka until I stirred it a bit. Overall, the food was good but we liked a couple other brunch spots better but I'd be willing to try again with a different menu.
Amazing food.
Outstanding service. You can tell the food is locally sourced by the quality of the ingredients. And kudos to the guy who set the tables up. We watched him clear, clean and set up several tables and he was very metticulous. If you can get reservations...do!
Wonderful dining spot
Elegant fine dining, great space and delicious fare. Despite coming late at night, we were served with grace and made welcome. The dishes were superb.
Fine meal, did not meet my lofty expectations
Very high expectations, a little disappointed in the food. Great bar, charming ambiance. Our server Rob was warm and professional. The cornbread and collards were exceptional, and I don’t even like collards! The $17 glass of wine was fine. The dumplings were good, but not exceptional. I was very excited about the locally sourced tile fish, and it was plated beautifully, but a little overcooked. So, a fine meal, but did not meet my lofty expectations.

We have been to the two other locations, and this one is the actual flagship restaurant, and just like the others, it was a wonderful experience. Their version of banana bread was other worldly and was beyond belief. Our server was passionate, friendly and enthusiastic. The food was delicious and the cocktails were next level. The restaurant itself is beautiful and every employee clearly loves what they do. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as did clearly everyone else.
Deserves to be a 5 star restaurant
Husk is hands down the BEST restaurants in Charleston! Husk has a very attentive and knowledgeable staff from servers to their female Sommelier! Everything we ordered was delicious and served hot! We will definitely return next time we’re in Charleston. BRAVO

What a wonderful meal! The wait staff was professional and attentive, the presentation was not overdone, and the food was perfection.
Definitely go
Great food, ambiance and service! Devil eggs were so good. The bar next door also amazing. Quaint with great selection of whiskey!
One of Charleston's most compelling restaurants, Husk never
One of Charleston's most compelling restaurants, Husk never fails to exceed expectations -- delivering amazing dishes, outstanding cocktails and impeccable service, all in a relaxed and welcoming setting. On a recent dinner visit, my wife and I were absolutely blown away by the flavors that arrived at our table, from the delicious Carolina Gold Fried Rice and succulent Shrimp Dumplings that we shared as appetizers, to the mind-blowing Pastrami Short Rib and Pork Ribeye we ordered for our entrees. The setting is classy but casual -- you'll fit in perfectly in jeans and a polo shirt -- and seating is available both inside and on the covered second-floor porch. Reservations are a MUST, but try to arrive early to enjoy a cocktail (or two) in the adjacent Husk Bar -- a fabulously eccentric (and somewhat crowded) lounge in an historic building next to the main restaurant. The Husk Old Fashioned and the signature Dragoon's Punch are two of the best cocktails in Charleston, and Bourbon lovers will appreciate the bar's extensive selection. Husk is committed to serving modern lowcountry dishes sourced from local farms in the surrounding region. If your perception of Southern cuisine is collard greens, grits and fatty BBQ, this restaurant will change it forever. The dishes rotate daily, but you can always expect a world-class experience, impeccable presentation and unforgettable service. I can't recommend it highly enough.

One of the best dishes of our trip was the biscuits and gravy here for brunch. The flavor was out of this world. First time we've had oatmeal griddle cakes. They were sooo good. Will want them again. Lemon buttermilk donuts were just okay. Too dry and lacking flavor. They should dunk them in the glaze, but they just drizzle them. Really good coffee and Bloody Mary.
Definitely worth the hype! The restaurant itself is
Definitely worth the hype! The restaurant itself is beautiful and truly gives off an authentic Charleston charm. The food was absolutely delicious - the fish, cornbread, oysters, rabbit pot pie - everything was 10/10. Definitely would go back!

Had to try, saw much about this place, great ambience and the smells from outside were amazing! We had to make a reservation about 2-3 weeks in advance, for 2, and could only get 9pm on a Saturday, no holiday, in early Feb. With all the raving reviews and the amount of people here (PACKED) I had very high expectations. Even though our reservation was around 9, we only got seated 20-25 minutes after our reservation time. Then it took about 10 minutes to even get water or see our waiter. I get it's busy and there's staff shortage everywhere but even tables that sat around the same time of us were getting served sooner. Service didn't get much better from there.... When the restaurant emptied out around 10:30-11 pm, we ordered just 2 scoops of ice cream and that took almost 20 minutes to make it to our table in a near empty restaurant. The staff definitely prioritized cleaning up and putting away everything, just not us ... would have been 3 stars because of service alone but the food-- Food was delicious!! We had the rabbit pot pie which was so tender and flavorful. Loved the flaky/crunchy pastry. The meat was not gamey at all! We also had a southern fried rice dish which was THE BEST - crispy, blasts of flavor from the sauces with that Asian chili oil finish. I loved the combo of a southern/Asian dish with rice (an import the area was known for!) The sea bass we had was alright. The sweet potato sauce that dressed it was decadent, but the fish itself was bland. Corn bread is large for a party of two... it's a shame they only make a large chunk considering how many couples I saw eating there. Ice cream was interesting.... We loved the banana rum but not the other, too sweet and fudgy. Overall, a good place to try if it's your first time down and you can snag a reservation but I wouldn't be too pressed to get one.More like 3.5-4.
The service and ambiance were fantastic.
We ordered the carbonara, short rib and cornbread. Everything was a 10/10. The short rib is a must. Make sure you visit Husk if you are visiting Charleston for the first time.
Went to the bar at Husk.
Great ambience upstairs. Although we only had the fries and fried chicken slider, it was tasty.
Great bar experience!
We had heard good reviews for the restaurant but weren't that hungry. We decided to have cocktails and apps in the bar and patio area. The upstairs bar was cozy and inviting. Our waitress Lauren was so welcoming. The fish dip was excellent but have to say (and this seems crazy), but they had absolutely the best fries we have ever eaten! Will definitely be back for the bar and the restaurant!
Absolutely amazing! Do not miss out on this experience!
Do not miss this experience. So glad we made early reservations a month in advance. From drinks to appetizers to entrees and desserts everything , absolutely everything was unbelievable. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. Certainly one of the top dining experiences any of us had ever had. I wish I could give it ten stars!
More Than A Meal…
Two friends and I were in Charleston for four days celebrating my 65th birthday. My youngest daughter recommended Husk and made our reservation. I’m so glad she did. We had great meals in Charleston and this was hands down our favorite. It was more than a meal…it was an experience! Our server, Tal, was so personable and knowledgeable, and made sure we were treated like royalty. This will my new go-to when in Charleston.
Yum!
The menu here changes, nearly daily, to accommodate the freshest ingredients. The service, menu and food were all top notch and one of the best we had while visiting Charleston. Highly recommend this one - reservations needed!
First class meal and ambiance
Delicious food, attentive service and classy atmosphere is what we found when we went to Husk on New Year's Eve. We started off with drinks in the next door bar - a very charming place that is worth popping into even if you aren't eating at the restaurant. Everyone at the table enjoyed a different entree - catfish, beef, chicken and pork - and all were pleased with their selections. While pricey, the portions were good and we appreciated the creative and tasty presentations that did not involve the "usual" side accompaniments. Dessert was a great way to end the evening. We had dined here one time before a few years back but enjoyed this meal and there service much more than our prior experience.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
