Grand Concourse Pittsburgh Reviews from The Last Year
This was my first experience at the Grand Concourse.
The atmosphere was amazing. Loved the whole setting. We thankfully got seated in the room that has a view of the Pittsburgh skyline. It was romantic. Our server was attentive despite the fact that Duquesne graduation was the same day (we had no idea when making the reservation) so the restaurant was extremely busy. Our drinks were great. I had the bourbon blood orange cocktail, my girlfriend had the mojito. The Charley's chowder was excellent. Not sure what all was in it but I would get it again. For dinner, I had the dynamite mahi mahi. I liked it a lot, the flavor was great. I was disappointed in the serving size of the plate a bit. You only get 3 pieces of vegetables. My girlfriend had the coconut shrimp and it was honestly the best coconut shrimp I've ever had. I'm not typically a fan of coconut shrimp so that's saying a lot. Finally, we finished the night off with dessert. I had the banana foster crème brûlée which was delicious. My girlfriend had a lava cake that was also delicious. We would 100% go back and would recommend checking it out if you haven't before. It was a wonderful choice for our anniversary dinner!
Great new sushi roll being introduced to menu.
We prefer Gandy’s Saloon to the main dining room for a Friday night drink. The main section appeared full so we asked about the section just to the right when you walk in. No customers were seated there but we had the full attention and service from the waitstaff. Very personable and even got to speak with chefs who were working on a new tuna sushi roll. The tuna roll has just been added to the full menu! Sooo good! Melts in your mouth with a little heat from the Serrano pepper and chili thread. We have enjoyed food from around the world on our travels. My husband doesn’t often say this but he says it is the best roll he has ever had!! From the Happy Hour Menu, we also had the lobster/seafood roll- typical New England style- on a buttered bun and a double order of the raw oysters from Chesapeake Bay. I enjoyed the Cabernet Savignon and Riesling. My husband had two mixed drinks. Ambience was great, service excellent, food delicious!
Charged twice - our bill and extra $108
We went here for my brother in-laws birthday February 10, 2024 and got charged for our bill and and extra $108 on our credit card. I have contacted the manager several times concerning this overcharge. They say they have a record of only charging us for our $104 bill. Well why was my credit card charged an extra $108 then by the Concourse Restaurant? This is unacceptable! I’ve been waiting since February for them to make this right.
Beautiful setting in a lovely historical building.
Andrea was our server, that could have been a bit more attentive. The food was good. It was Mother's Day - we got in at 3:30pm, thirty minutes after the change over. I wish I would have had photos of the buffett. VERY disappointed! The buffets were a mess, the pans where not being refreshed, guests fished their own plates out of the dish holder (instead of on the table). Literally every other pan was near empty. Carving - the Prime Rib sat there dry. It should have been in a hot box, coming out juicy. It tasted delicious, I did not use the au jus because I did not want it all over my plate, the creamy horseradish was next to EMPTY. It was less than cooked medium. I can take that but not many appreciate it. Again, it was drier than it should have been. Salad bar was - sad. There were barely any lemons on the ice, the Martha Vineyard Salads were swimming in dressing. Very sad. Dessert table was a mess, I watched someone switch out the chocolate cake, where he just put the tray on top of another sitting. The sticky buns where on toss away tin trays. Not what I would expect at the Grand Concourse. The remainder of the desserts in the Gandy Dancer were just destroyed, I am sure by the guests. I might also add it was a complete guessing game on what each item was! No labels. Very disappointed in spending $232 plus a 20% tip. I worked at a Country Club and I view most well respected restaurants on a lovely holiday would have been on the top of their game! Bonus: donuts are still delicious. MIGHT give one more try for a brunch on a non-holiday. My takeaway is: If you are used to the breakfast brunch at Eat n' Park, you will be impressed. But I say that and my EP has a flawless and clean buffet
Just Wow.
There Sunday brunch has always been special. The location itself is a treasure. The experience of walking in and seeing the stained glass ceilings, the marble, the solid wood paneling and the Edwardian architecture is always a nostalgic blast of yesteryear. They literally don't make them like they used to. The brunch itself is full of everything I could want, from banana fosters, fresh made donuts, to actual healthy food such as a variety of fish, eggs, to scrumptious fresh portions of beef, pork, turkey. We usually have a member of the party who is allergic to nuts, and they can always find good food to eat here. The restaurant usually has the chef come out and talk about can and cant's with us. Highly recommend, but if you want to be here on say Mother's Day, or some other holiday, book in advance! Fair warning.
We came for lunch on Saturday, and loved it! The building
We came for lunch on Saturday, and loved it! The building is just breathtaking. We were seated with a view of downtown. I would love to sit inside next time to admire the architecture. I got the seafood roll, which had shrimp, crab and lobster on it. It was quite yummy! I would get it again. I also tried the Peach Palmer mocktail. It was a bit underwhelming, and tasted like a Snapple. Overall we had a great experience. The staff were friendly and the service was prompt. The prices were very reasonable for lunch. We ended up paying about $25 per person. I would love to come back and try some of their other items! Making a reservation ahead of time is a must.
The ambiance, service, and experience is just beautiful.
The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing -- a great overall experience! We're definitely coming back!
The Sunday brunch is great for a hungry crew! There's
The Sunday brunch is great for a hungry crew! There's something for everyone - freshly made donuts, chocolate fountain, omelette station, pasta station, fresh carved ham/prime rib, shrimp cocktail, salads, even pierogis! Definitely a splurge for brunch but worth it for special occasions. I went in a group of 9 with one using a walker. The restaurant entrance and seating was accessible. I highly recommend reservations. It was also Pitt graduation weekend, so I was pleasantly surprised that the lines weren't long for the buffet.
Best Brunch of my life in a historic setting
Located in a historic former train station, we enjoyed Brunch on graduation weekend, crowded, busy, yet the best I’ve ever experienced. Fresh donuts, waffles, omelets, pasta, buffet, chocolate fountain, desserts, seafood and more. Service was excellent, quality of food for a buffet was outstanding. Mimosa with fresh juice. Reservations are a must.
The most generous 3 I've ever given
The restaurant gets 2 stars because it's a unique venue, then another star because the waiter was friendly. But that's where the good news ends. The service was horrifically slow from start to finish -- think three hours for a dinner that should have taken one and a half. Our waiter spent more time chatting at tables than he did taking and delivering orders. The drink orders were bungled; correcting the bar's mistake took another 15 minutes. As for the food, memorable but for all the wrong reasons. The "seafood chowder" looked like chili, tasted like cat food, and smelled just plain old. The salads were soggy and overdressed. The halibut was no better than the fish served on a McD's sandwich. All of this is a crying shame. We've been to this restaurant for brunch and really enjoyed it. But we'll never return for dinner. An awful experience.
Sunday brunch has a wide selection.
Who'd expect jambalaya? Carving station, made to order omelettes, seafood, pasta station, even a chocolate fountain. I enjoyed scrambled eggs with peppers, ham, link sausage, green beans with carrots and the jambalaya and all were tasty. A very attentive waiter refilled drinks often. Atmosphere is outstanding. Used to be a train station so it's like stepping back in time when travel was enjoyable. We were seated next to a window with a view of the river and downtown. Will definitely return.
The best brunch in Pittsburgh!!! I would highly recommend
The best brunch in Pittsburgh!!! I would highly recommend going here for Sunday brunch. There are so many good options here. You won't be disappointed!
My boyfriend and I absolutely love the grand concourse and
My boyfriend and I absolutely love the grand concourse and have been several times. The atmosphere is amazing. I am a big fan of architecture it's beautiful. The food is also always great! I honestly did not think we could love the grand concourse anymore than we already do but our server Neil elevated our whole experience. He was so personable and helpful. He gave great service and went above and beyond. He even took pictures of us on the grand stair case. Thank you Neil for a magical experience.
We came to Pittsburgh for a day trip.
Ended up at Grand Concourse for dinner. I had the Sirloin Steak. The steak was full of gristle and muscle. Shared my displeasure with the meal and was dismissed. Nothing was done about the meal. We will never return to this restaurant.
This establishment has earned it's five stars.
My daughter reserved our 10 family member group for the Easter Brunch. We were seated with in 15 minutes, we had a 3:15 reservation. Our wait staff was quick to take our drink orders. Food was hot and fresh and delicious. A great variety of main courses and sides. Many fish options which our family loved. Prime Rib, Fish, Salmon, Chicken. Potatoes, Rice, Several Salads, Mac and Cheese. The desserts were amazing. We will definitely return to this establishment. Parking was easy as well. Street parking free on Sundays.
Decided to take the family out this year for the Easter
Decided to take the family out this year for the Easter buffet, big mistake! Had reservations for 5:15 got seated at 6:00 they told us they were behind 20min to a half hour. Finally get to buffet and there's a line of at least 30 people by the time we got through and back to our table our food was cold. Never did get to the carving table. Big disappointment for such a $$$$ restaurant 300.00 for subpar dining. Never again.... best part was the valets great service!
Went foR Easter brunch got seated a half hour late,no big
Went foR Easter brunch got seated a half hour late,no big deal.Seafood lasagna and salmon was awesome. Only had one person carving four items so the line was always long. Worst part I couldn't get a price of prim rib under medium well.. Was seated by the carving station so I kept trying .Went through6prime rib while I was There, all medium well to well. Service wasn't bad, but expected better from there..
Gorgeous old train station with fantastic food and
Gorgeous old train station with fantastic food and incredible service. Our waiter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable
I went to the grand concourse for an Easter brunch, and
I went to the grand concourse for an Easter brunch, and quite enjoyed it. They had a fast buffet with many options to choose from. There are many rooms, and it is very pretty, although it was impossible for me to find the bathroom. Everybody there was nice, but our waiter rarely checked on the table, even when we called her over. Over all will go back
The service was absolutely wonderful.
Alyssa and Tiffany explained the menu items (the Today's Catch section of the menu is a bit confusing), and they made the meal an absolutely perfect occasion. The food was good, but not great. I had Gulf snapper, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. It was tasty, but I wish it had been hotter.
Great Valentine's Dinner
Last Friday night we visited here for our Valentine's dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. We had a 6:15 reservation and while the place was busy, it didn't seem like all tables were full. The service was slow but our waiter was very friendly and made up for it. We started with drinks, oysters and the coconut shrimp. For main meals we had the shrimp and scallop risotto and crispy duck with vanilla mashed sweet potatoes. EVERYTHING was amazing. The drinks were tasty, entrees were delicious and even the sides were to die for. We wish we would've taken doubles to go. We had a lot of fun in Pittsburgh and did a lot while visiting but couldn't stop talking about our meals haha! I would definitely recommend this place when you're looking for a fancy night out. The venue has a beautiful grand room, but we sat in the side room with views of the city and bridges which we think was even better. Definitely check this place out if you haven't already. While the food was upscale, we thought the prices were reasonable.
Underwhelming Experience
My friends and I were excited to get the chance to dine at the Grand Concourse finally. Unfortunately, the experience was lackluster at best and the likelihood of returning is slim. The restaurant is in a great location, easy to get to, with plenty of parking options nearby. We made reservations, arrived at 11:30, and were greeted (if you would call it a greeting) by a gentleman whose demeanor indicated this was the last place on earth he wanted to be. We were guided through the restaurant to our table, providing us the opportunity to admire the facilities’ wonderful architecture and decor. Sadly, we were seated in the back in what struck me as overflow seating. The view of the railroad tracks detracted from the river view. We were greeted by our server who did a fantastic job until more tables arrived. As more guests arrived, the wait staff seemed overwhelmed. We ordered our meals. The salad arrived right away. The main dishes would take almost 50 minutes from the time we ordered. When the food finally arrived, it was underwhelming. My steak was barely warm, and the potatoes were room temperature at best. Beyond that, it just didn’t taste that good. No one at my table was remotely impressed or pleased with the taste of the food. Honestly, I have had better NY Strips at chain restaurants for half the price. I am unsure if we just came at a bad time, but our experience was nowhere near as positive as those shared by others providing feedback.
Great Friday night dinner.
We had an excellent time at the Grand Concourse. We started with drinks. I had the Smoking Dragon. It was delicious. For an appetizer we shared the Calamari Fritto Misto. It was very tasty. It had pickled peppers , chipotle aioli and a honey/sriacha glaze. The calamari were light & fried nicely, but the aioli and glaze is what took it up a level! For our entrees (between the three of us) we ordered the Applejack Sea Bass, the Dynamite Sea Bass and the Alaskan King Crab legs with an added lobster tail. Everything was delicious. I have to say if I had to re choose for myself I would go for the Applejack sea bass. I felt that the Dynamite was a bit bland in comparison. However, that may be because I swapped the coconut ginger rice for the wild rice risotto as I dont love ginger. The service was a bit slow, but it was a Friday night and our waitress was friendly. Overall we were extremely happy with our dinner and service. We will 100% return.
Good dinner
Dinned here on a Sunday night and enjoyed our experience. Started off with the scallops and crab cake appetizers. Scallops were amazing in flavor and presentation, def the Best part of the meal. The crab cake, lump, was ok on the smaller size and for the price and would not order again. Got the Caesar salad which lacked flavor seemed light on the dressing and the anchovies were just thrown on top of the salad which tells me they don’t make the dressing from scratch which should have the anchovies mashed into the dressing. Entrees were the Seabass and Duck. My seabass was ok only a 5-6oz portion which was served with risotto and zero vegetable on the plate. My gf duck was cooked perfectly, crispy, with a generous portion of duck with mashed sweet potatoes and once again no vegetable served?? Plate presentation could have been cleaned up also. The drinks are a bit steep on price, my gf smoked manhattan is mostly just a show for a basic manhattan. The desserts disappointed as they seemed very manufactured and not homemade. Our view was great as we sat along the river with a view of the city!!! Our waiter was good, but did forget an espresso but other than that pretty attentive. All in all a nice dinner but a few small things need attention at such a nice restaurant bring to a 5 star rating. Would def return to dine here!!
Highly Disappointed
It was “Pittsburgh Restaurant Week” and the Grand Concourse was heavily advertising their special 3-course Prix Fixe menu (starter, entrée, desert). After my wife and I were seated, we ordered our starters (soup and salad), our entrees (double cut pork chop and shrimp & crab carbonara) and desserts (pumpkin cheesecake and key lime pie). As we were finishing our starters, our server informed us that they were out of the pork chops, although disappointed, my wife ordered the shrimp & crab carbonara. The shrimp & crab carbonara was totally flavorless. It had no cheese (carbonara with no cheese?) and no crab. We were told that they had also run out of crabmeat. To top it all off, they also ran out of pumpkin cheesecake and key lime pie. When I asked to speak to the manager, he apologized and said they didn’t want to order too much food and have it possibly go to waste. They still had another day to go for “Pittsburgh Restaurant Week” and they had already run out of food. The only positive spot in our evening was that we had an excellent server (Gwen). Four weeks prior we had taken our niece here for her birthday dinner. The restaurant advertised Crispy Duck. We all love duck. Needless to say, they ran out of duck that night. Our advice is to stay away from the Grand Concourse restaurant. Their food is terrible and whatever you want to eat, they will have run out of it!
Disappointed
This is our second time for their Sunday brunch. First time was a while ago and wonderful - the server explained in detail what stations and food they had, where the stations were, gave us tips on what to do, etc. Today we brought two friends who had not been here and asked the server if she could explain the buffet a little to us - because I remember it was so helpful last time, but we still kinda got overwhelmed and also couldn't find a couple things (like their donut station). She said, I kid you not, "it's a buffet so you go get your own food." I said we know it is a buffet, and we know what a buffet is, but if she could just tell us what to look for and where the various stations were. She said she doesn't know bc they switch it up. She was short and rude. It made us feel stupid and left us dumbfounded and embarrassed. The dirty plates were not picked up until we asked. We realized the experience is not always how good the food is, but also so much of how you are treated and served. A shame. Won't be recommending the Sunday brunch to anyone anymore like we used to. If you do go, you will see why the server giving you a little guide in the beginning is important. It's not a typical set up; the various stations are set up throughout the lobby and bar and other nooks and cranny. Today I saw the pasta station I had forgotten about. It is hard to explain, but with the crowd in the windy area, it is very easy to completely miss a couple stations. Maybe today's experience was tainted by the negative experience, but the food seemed not that great either. Will not be returning with this bad taste in my mouth.
A surprised disappointment.
We have been coming here for years on my birthday and have spent family Christmas and Easter here, The food has always been over the top with the most flavorful meals we have had anywhere in the state of Pa, The crispy duck, elk chops and fillet steaks and sea food dishes are top of the line, the coconut shrimp is fantastic with the corn chutney sauce a must have, But this year was some what a disappointment this time we went for my 61st birthday dinner a little earlier than usual because of Pittsburgh light up night when the city gets crowded for the event but what surprised me was when they seated us the sun was reflecting off the building across the river and straight into the window and blinding everyone in the room facing the windows, we asked to be moved and from then on it was as if we where a burden to them, I ordered a pomegranate martini and it tasted more like lime juice than pomegranate ,I ordered the prime rib and my wife had the fillet minyan, her steak was done to perfection but the asparagus needed to be cooked a little longer to soften it more, the smashed red potatoes where nothing spectacular but tasty, my steak was so raw it was cold as if it never was heated and was riddled with gristle strings making it impossible to cut and had so much fat on it I would say 30% of it was fat and gristle not worth the price paid, the shrimps came out cold as well, the service was slower than it has ever been and the place was not yet crowded our server was ok but let us hang in limbo for a long time to bring a refill of ice tea for my wife she seemed to be more interested in the larger party sitting by us, we left her a nice tip though we felt it was not earned. I understand that with all the covid 19 viruses going round and it is hard to get people to work and a lot of places are short handed but their seemed to be plenty of help there that night hopefully things will get better soon for all of us then we will return.
Unfortunately I Wouldn’t recommend
Beautiful building. Drinks were good. My salad and calamari appetizer were good. Bread was okay. The mahi-mahi was very blah and the broccoli was nearly raw. No interest in taking leftovers, though usually I hate wasting food. The waitress seemed tired and sick of working.
Dusappointed
Shrimp over pasts, 4 small shrimp, not wat you expect when it’s noted for its seafood. filet small, overcooked & dry.
Poor Service, Ok food
Ambiance was nice in the train station. Food was pretty meh. The service was very poor. Took an hour and a half to get 2 salads and salmon. Private event took up the main area so couldn’t even see it. Wouldn’t come back

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.

So glad I came across this app :)

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
