East Harbor Seafood Palace Reviews from The Last Year
Updated review - Well.
..I guess this is the place if you wish to dine with dogs -at your table - inside...We waited for a table this past Sunday after 1pm - so thought the wait wouldn't be so long but it was still crowded - we noticed a patron carrying a dog in her arms - notified the seating agent who informed me that "it's ok - they have a license" - as a fellow dog owner - yes, i have a dog license as well--- but i wouldn't be so selfish to bring my dog inside a restaurant... if you need it for emotional support(of which the dog was NOT wearing any indication of being) please be mindful that they should be in a bag - near you, under the table--- NOT with its head on the table on your lap... NOT IN YOUR ARMS AS YOU'RE LEAVING OVER THE FOOD CARTS... When the seating agent seated them then called my number, we had to decline sitting with them... other patrons were commenting as well but i guess the restaurant didn't care... it was simply gross, unsanitary and selfish. If you need emotional support, consider taking your food to go - especially knowing how crowded this place normal gets and holding your dog while looking over the food carts made us lose our appetites... besides, that ordering my formerly beloved egg tarts to go as soon as we were seated -being told it would be at least 25 mins so we said it was ok while we dined in--- then getting ready to leave and asking where was the order of egg tarts only to be told that no order was ever placed for them and it's too late now - "sorry" (the waiter who we placed the order with miraculously could not be found)- don't worry - we'll be finding somewhere else to go - somewhere who treats their customers with respect --- you can keep your dog - hope it's worth it...yuck!

6.5.2024 Wednesday@ 12 noon Walk in for table if 3. Waited less than 10 mins today. The service wasn't good today. Waitstaff just seem busy doing they own things and doesn't come check on the table.
4/5 stars for this dim sum restaurant.
Undoubtedly packed, the Chinese treasure their Sunday Dim Sum or "Yum Cha" family routines much like the Italians value their Sunday lunches or Sunday pastas with their family. Make no mistake, however, get ready to stand your ground and be firm with the elderly entitled ladies who will shamelessly and relentless cut in front of you, thinking that their need for a table is much more important than yours. Food wise, it was a 4/5, but I definitely appreciated the traditional tripe and unique black sesame balls filled with black sesame paste! They are generous with the shrimp and pork fillings as well for their ha gao and siu mai. Brooklyn Chinatown is predominantly Cantonese speaking, so it helps to know some basic Cantonese or bring a Cantonese speaking friend along.
Very authentic delicious Dim Sum and Cantonese style food.
Crab fried rice and lobsters outstanding !! Service was very friendly and professional. A very enjoyable experience. Wish we had more people to try everything. I recommend bringing a crowd.

I am happy to have this place available again after they were closed for renovations. Great to see many familiar faces with the staff who have gotten to know us quite well. The place looks very nice; I am especially pleased with the bathroom updates. Let's see if they could maintain and keep things steady. For all the + changes, great staff and continuous good food, I am giving this Dim Sum spot a 5 star rating! Some of my favorite dishes are as follows: Fung Chow (Chicken Feet), Leng Yu Cou (Fish Paste), Cha Siew Bao, K Zi (Eggplant with Shrimp paste) and Cin Har Fu Pei Kuen. Apologies in advance if I got any of the spelling incorrect for the dishes. Check out some of my photos to get an ideas.
Woke up early for once while in vacation back home and what
Woke up early for once while in vacation back home and what better breakfast then to have dim sum. We took the half mile walk up and our normal spot was shut down so we walked to East Harbor Seafood Palace. I thought for sure we will get a table since it was early. Boy was I wrong. We waited 15 minutes as the host was on the mic calling out reservation numbers like if he was auctioning something off. We got our seats but had to share a table or we'll have to wait longer. The ladies with the steam carts came rolling around and we started ordering. Overall the food was ok, not as flavorful as other places but still good. Service was excellent as they waiters kept on change out your old plate for new plates and kept the tea refilled. We only had 1 issue, we found a piece of wire from a stainless steel scrubber in our tripe. The couple that shared the table with us told 1 of the mangers, we told them we didn't want to start any issues and they told us they told the manager so they can check the food to make sure no more is there so another customer would not accidentally swallow it. When we got our bill the manager thanked us for advising her and compensated us with free tea and coconut jello. There dinner is definitely better then their dim sum, come check it out.
Best dim sum restaurant in Brooklyn.
Food is excellent. Don't have to go into the city anymore. They have some good lunch specials in addition to dim sum.

Portions are huge! The food is very fresh! The place is very spacious! They take walk-ins! The place is clean and the service is impeccable. The shrimp and pork steamed dumplings are great for an appetizer, the chicken dishes are not greasy and you can tell they use good ingredients ! The lomeins are great as well. I also recommend to save room for desert because those glazed donuts are literally light airy and full of goodness! I also noticed they have a party room if you want to do a nice party there!

Came for dinner dungeoness crab, snails, water spinach and black pepper sauce short ribs. Delicious just a little too salty on the shorts but still yummy. Service was AMAZING!!!
Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant of the Brooklyn
Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant of the Brooklyn bunch. East Harbor serves up classic dishes, but does it right. Prices are also super reasonable compared to other Brooklyn restaurants for both dimsum and dinner. One of my faves here is the braised noodles - not sure what they do here but it is SO tasty! Seafood options here are also reasonably priced, making East Harbor the favorite for special occasion dinners as well. The interior is spacious with plenty of seating. Even then, the tables fill up quickly during dimsum peak hours. Reservations also go FAST around major holidays. There are plenty of regulars here, so service is super friendly.

We came here for dinner and the food and service were pretty mid. We had a lot of problems concerning the alaskan king crab. We had already placed in our orders, however, our waiter later came back telling us he said the wrong market price to us and it was actually much pricier than expected (more than $100 difference). It was very unprofessional since we already ordered the dish and they wanted to take back their word. When we got the order, the meat inside the legs was not comparable to the price we paid. Not sure if they cooked it for too long, but the meat in the legs were very shriveled up. The fried body dish was decent, however, the fried rice dish had no flavor. Overall, very disappointed with the service. They tried to give us the pig baos as condolences, however, it did not justify their mistake. Other than that, the ambiance was okay. There weren't that many people when we went so it was peaceful (except for the uncomfortable tension now). In regards to the other dishes we got: The peking duck was probably my favorite. The meat was favorable and juicy, and the skin was extra crispy. The fried shrimp and walnuts were good, classic dish I always get.

A full 5 star review for many reasons! Dim Sum was AMAZING. Buns were filled with meat, airy, hot, and very tasty. The vegetarian in our group ordered dry noodles with vegetables which seems to contain three different types of mushrooms, and tasted heavenly. Tea was hot and filled often. Service was impeccable. GREAT experience. And one of our group is Asian and has high expectations! We can't wait to return.

Had a wonderful Chinese Wedding Banquet for my niece last week at the East Harbor restaurant , it is very popular Chinese restaurant in Brooklyn , for their old style Dim Sum , packed all the time spacious but noisy cleanest okay , my aunt had about 200 guest for the banquet dinner , restaurant can hold 600 people , what a different from day and night , Night time very comfortable not noisy and airy , tablets well set up with Red tablecloth and napkins , very spacious lot of room to move , the Banquet menu very creative , and can customized for your budget and preferences ,not too pricy , it is 12 full course set dinner , I was surprised all the dishes from seafood to soup very authentic Cantonese style cooking , excellent quality , very flavourful and portions is huge , lot of doggy bag , I love the Sucking Pig crispy outside and juicy inside , also the lobster is not too shabby , good size and so fresh , staff and the Management team very friendly and professional , special the one who took care our head Tablet exceptional service not miss a bent , every one so happy and my aunt was over the moon for the whole evening , so if you visiting New York , there is so many Chinese and western restaurants around , happy recommend the Seafood Place for their quality special the Dim Sum , lot of seafood to choose for dinner ! very affordable .
Pretty decent place we are party of 6 on Sunday night
Pretty decent place we are party of 6 on Sunday night including two under 10 kids. Sunday night and many families are there. Not too noisy at all. The stuff is so sweet. Nice and kind service. Portion, amazing it's a lot. We definitely needed to known about how big it is. The beef soup was amazing, dumplings, Peking duck. But just a bit luck of umami. squid fries are not really resembling a picture on the menu and taste heavy. Very oily. A bit of luck of seasoning but overall, good family eat spots. Just a taste wise I won't come back.
Visited on weekday for lunch.
This place was super authentic!! When you see a large group of its country's elderly customers, you know you are at the right place. They had a waiting card giving out. They will call you when your table is ready. I had to wait about 20 mins for a group of 2 which wasnt too bad. There are main dish menus which you can order from. Or you can have any dishes on the cart that is going in between all the tables. I really enjoyed picking what i wanted to eat. They have anything you can imagine, such as vegetable dishes, dimsum dishes and meats! Most of the speak in english so feel free to ask any question. Most important! They have a free parking!!
I've been coming here almost every weekend for 10+ years.
I'm surprised I haven't written a review yet. It's honestly the best dim sum restaurant nearby and cheaper than most. I don't venture into Flushing so not going to compare with those. On weekends and holidays the wait can be long. There's a line even at 2pm. The dim sum department is diligent too. They keep releasing fresh dim sum even up until ~2:30pm. Depending on how busy they are and available stock, they're generally willing to steam you fresh dim sum if there aren't any available up until ~3:15pm. This is very important and rare!! A lot of dim sum restaurants nearby releasing fresh items by 1pm or so which is frustrating if you can't even get a table by that time yet. Another thing to note about timing is how they often have dinner banquets and they start setting up the tables around 3pm. They don't really kick you out or stop letting new customers come in, but you'll feel the pressure when all the tables around are getting transformed to big red tables while you're the only one sitting in a small table with white tablecloth. Sometimes when the party hosts are decorating the stage, the décor people come at 2ish3 which is quite disruptive to guests still eating around that area. Although quality isn't 100% consistent, I have general favorites: chive dumpling, egg tart, chicken feet, Malaysian cake roll, dried shrimp scallion cilantro cheung fun. Depending on my mood and the quality of the day, these are good too: spare ribs, tofu pudding, taro dumpling, bean curd roll. Tables aren't too cramped here. The employees are well trained and experienced. The décor is traditional yet not over the board (i.e. other Cantonese restaurants with neon LED lights and stuff). I miss the golden dragon and phoenix on the stage, but they have a big TV along with smaller TVs on the side that usually play TVBUSA.
Packed like always on a Sunday morning.
Luckily the wait was only around 30 minutes at 11am for a party of four. The dim sum is good at least the savory things. They really do the classics well. There was more to be desired for the baos. The golden lava steamed bao was a let down. It was oily and didn't have much salted egg flavor. Fried sesame ball with sesame paste was really good too. It was less than $20 per person for four people, and we ate at least 10 dishes. Very worth it. The dim sum is almost all good.
The fried crab rice is very delicious .
I gotta say I eat a lot of fried crab rice yearly . This is top tier. Tao chicken is also great. The crab soup is also great. I also order fried flat beef noodle (to go) - that's is not much of a taste. Overall this place definitely worth trying and coming back. Waitress are funny and friendly. Place is clean and very huge. Total :$104 without tip .
Great prices for a wonderful lunch.
And the waitress let us sit there for a few hours without rushing us. I would highly recommend.

Hands down my family all-time favorite dim sum spot in the entire city. Not exaggerating, they come to yum cha at least twice a week. We've tried almost everything on the menu and dim sum carts. I can't even count how many times I've been here, and finally decided to give them an honorable mention. The aunties who push the dim sum carts are really attentive and friendly -- they remember our fav food and always reserve us warm dim sum. Just found out East Harbor was listed in 2023 Michelin Guide -- very well-deserved. Top favs/Must order: *Veggie Pork Bun 菜肉包 *Char Siu Pie 叉燒酥 *Char Siu Bun 叉燒餐包 *Taro Dumpling 香芋餃 *Black Sesame Balls 雷沙湯圓 *Egg Tart 蛋撻 Other Favs: *Dried Shrimp Rice Roll 蝦米腸 *Beef w. String Bean on Rice
Food is alright.
The services are also okay as long as you can get the waiters' attention. The place can be super crowded and loud but that's normal.
