I had a few dishes here today and I'm not for leaving bad reviews in general. However, I didn't think service was remarkable and very disappointing where I had to repeat things over and over again. I had the tallarin zhen fe--- very poor
The restaurante is really nicely decorated.
The staff is friendly and we're really helpful when we had questions about the menu. We went for lunch, a little before 3 and it wasn't too full, our table was ready in no time! We got the Tam Tam noodles, which were just too spicy for me.

I am not from DC but always go to this restaurant, run by Jose Andres, a true hero of mine. The food is complex and interesting, full of flavor, beautifully served and just plain delicious. Service was attentive and wonderful too!

Not too busy on Tuesday Dim Sum Happy Hour.
Cheaper appetizers during dim sum. Some dishes still expensive value, but others were really good. Love the decor and the vibe. Great ambiance and art on the walls. Love the fusion.
Peruvian/Chinese/Japanese food in DC
Wonderful lunch in DC—a combination of Peruvian, Chinese and Japanese cuisines, all delicious, reasonably priced, and with friendly service. We really enjoyed it. If this restaurant was in New York, we would go.
Go. Explore.
I have the great good fortune to visit the district two or three times a year, and each time my hosts introduce me to new cuisines, and as a result my palate has traveled the world, never more flavorfully than our dinner at China Chilcano. I did not
Overpriced with small portions
This was an interesting choice to make when we were deciding our dining options for our upcoming visit to Washington DC. The idea of a Peruvian, Asian and Spanish fusion was an interesting concept and we were eager to try this restaurant. Overall,
Great fusion in Penn Quarter
China Chicano - what a stupendous dinner. Peruvian and Asian fusion that was just wonderful. And a lively colorful atmosphere with excellent service. A must visit if you are in DC.
Not for me•••
Not for me. Did not enjoy food at all. Wait person did not articulate options clearly ••• and lacked enthusiasm. An overall terrible experience.
Impressed by the tasting menu with cocktails.
We opted to eat outside as it was November and still warm. Maybe the atmostphere was a bit affected by that... Inside seemed nicer, but we didn't know when we made our reservation. We had the Tatami tasting menu. It was huge. We couldn'
Catch the vibe
Lively happening spot with unique excellent food. Seviche and dumplings are outstanding. A fun and lively place great before theatre. Quick efficient service
Adventurous food and fun atmosphere
Arrived early and enjoyed several small plates with 3 friends…quiet setting when we arrived but much busier and noisier when we left, about 5:30…food was good and many interesting selections…service was timely .

So sad.
Had a very ordinary meal. We ordered the Chef’s Menu. It’s a shame that Andre’s restaurants are dead.Even Oyamel was disappointing when we visited last year. Basic food. Very basic. Poor service. Nothing special about a night out. No hear

This restaurant , food and staff are amazing . Well located in Washington DC is a must visit for its visitors!. I requested a good seating table and it was ready even before my arrival with my guests. Our server did her best to please us and we enjoy

Stopped here for lunch on a Friday and it was mostly empty.
The food was excellent, especially the classic ceviche! IMHO, most of the Jose Andres restaurants are just too precious and the waitstaff act like you should be grateful to be there -- but this place was different. The server was friendly and very

Excellent service and food.
We loved every dish we tried - about half the menu. So much fun to try so many new flavor combinations.
Two of us enjoyed lunch at China Chilcano today.
It was pouring rain on a weekday, and this place looked warm and inviting. I had the set lunch for $28 which consisted of siu mai pollo, tallarin saltado de verduras (chow mein noodles), and suspiro limana (sweetened condensed milk custard topped wi

Top notch service, really great wait staff and nice ambience unfortunately couldn't make up for truly disappointing food. Every dish missed the mark, too salty, too fried, questionable freshness of ingredients. Just a real bummer when you're spending
Holy crap.
Amazing. Every dish was delicious and came out hot. Favorites were the steam buns with the pork belly, the fried rice, and the sample of 12 dim sum. Service was slow at first but took off and did not disappoint. Really cool spot for dinner. No dress

Maybe because I grew up in Peru I am extra picky and gave only 4 stars. I think the essence was captured by the restaurant menu. The ambiance is great and lively. But the plate execution is just OK. I have been there twice and both times I felt like
Best Restaurant Ever
This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. It has been over 2 weeks and I still think about how good this food was. It is very creative mixing Asian style with Peruvian food. And it tastes absolutely amazing.
A Dining Experiment of Success
I have for a long time been impressed by Jose Andres and his philanthropy. While on our visit to DC, our daughter made reservations at one of his restaurants. It is an amazing diverse menu that one does not know where to begin to start ordering.
Bright, lively restaurant.
We had lunch here on a Thursday without reservations. Service was good. Very attentive. Very familiar with the menu for explanations. Food was tasty. I really enjoyed the Lomo Saltado. Very good. I also loved the Kam Lu Wantan. My husband enj

Wonderful flavors. Unique. Good service. Not the most comfortable seating. Big and unfamiliar menu...wish I could go back frequently
Thank you Manager CJ !!!!
Excellent restaurant with great service and great food. We enjoyed the pork buns as well as the five spice old-fashioned. Will be back again.
Affordable fixed lunch menu
Our first day in DC, came here for the fixed price menu at lunch. It wasn't very busy so service was very fast. For $28, you get 3 courses. We started with the Siu Mai Pollo and Papas a la Huancaina (this was a bit bland). Main: Aji de Gallina a
Excellent
Great food, the portions are large and the food is priced well. I find some of the other comments bizarre. If you go, download the InKind app to save $25 off $75 or pre-buy InKind cash to save money. We ordered three dishes+ dessert, and we left with
Pretty marginal tasting experience
Had the Peruvian tasting experience. Based on the offerings, will probably never have Peruvian food again. Also did the cocktail pairing. Of the four cocktails, two were ones we had while we were waiting at the bar. The final straw was the desser

Outstanding food - we had the tasting menu and each course was beautifully presented and a treat for the palate. A veritable feast! We've been many times before and we are never disappointed.
Glorified Chili's with even worse food.
At least there the expectations are low to begin with.Kudos to attentive staff, but we are avoiding the Jose Andres brand, this being our first and last experience.
Ordered the concolon and other dishes as a takeout delivery.
Most of the food was edible and and okay but the fried rice in the concolon was definitely burnt, not crispy. It was the scrapped, bottom of pot burnt fried rice that was delivered which was a shame because the other items were ok.
do the chefs tasting menu.
each dish is the exact portion you would like and it's worth the money!
Hoped for Peruvian food!
We are Peruvians leaving in the US and have tried the best and not so good places everywhere …but this place has NO REAL Peruvian dishes to offer…only drinks and ambiance … that’s it.
A José Andrés staple in the Penn Quarter area.
The food certainly lives up to the expectation of fusion and multicultural appreciation.
