Allard Paris Reviews from The Last Year
Lived up to the expectation
Visited on MARCH 2023. There's always high expectations when you visit a renowned chef's restaurant and Alain Ducasse is no joke. Allard's tradition and Ducasse's cuisine get together to satisfy the most demanding palates. The bread, the duck, the steak tartare, the wine... just perfection. What a delightful experience it was. Just the thought of it makes us want to plan a quick getaway to Paris. Will definitely go back to Allard, will always be very high on our list of favorites.
Great evening
Cosy restaurant in Paris. Food was tasty, service efficient. Good selection of wine. Glad that I was visiting this Parisian institution at last. Special mention for the choux farci, which was excellent
Exquisite french food !
I just came out of this restaurant and i have to say, it was exquisite!. the agneau rôtie and the filet de boeuf wer really really good as well as the crème brûlée and the Profiteroles. The recieved a warm welcome from the staff which it was quite nice, since it was the birthday of my friend. overall service was great and food was really really good. highly recomnded it!
Wishing for more from alen
Unfortunately undercooked lobster and over ripe tomatoes, otherwise everything was fine and manager was wonderful!
So first let's do the positive things which was the service.
I've seen some reviews that really complain about the service but we actually had really good service. What I did not like was that the food was quite ordinary and ridiculously expensive. I had the duck with olives which was good, but just super plain for the €48 per head. €25 for a soft-boiled egg also seems ridiculous. A Coke was €8, again way over the top. I would recommend spending my money elsewhere.
Not like it used to be - disappointing. Understaffed - not once did someone pour wine or water into our glasses.
I’ve eaten here many times but it has gone down hill. Poor service, nobody filled our wine or water once! They are too understaffed to offer a good experience. Although I love their profiteroles, we left to find dessert elsewhere. No offer to discount us despite acknowledgement of poor service.
Wonderful traditional Parisian dinner
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Allard on a Monday night. The food was perfectly prepared starting with the escargot, then the duck and olives for two, and finishing with the rum soaked cake. The food seemed right out of the 19th century without feeling dated at all. Most enjoyable was the service! Our server, Aisha, somehow managed to combine a no-nonsense serious professionalism with a rye warmth and charm, finishing off our meal with a perfectly recommended cognac. Worth every penny.
Can’t wait to go back for the Duck!
A charming old French Bistro. Loved the duck stuffed with green olives, which is a specialty, I’m told. It was absolutely delicious & I’m not even a green olive fan. The wine pairing was perfect. The only reason I gave 4** was because it was very cramped & I guess we were just lucky to have been squeezed in. A memorable experience & we will return.
IF YOU CAN’T COOK ROAST CHICKEN, GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN!
I would have rated Allard a 1 star but we did have 2 nice entrees before the main dish disaster began. We ordered roast chicken for 2 and a side of potatoes. We were warned that that the chicken dish was hot, which was probably unnecessary, as the chicken was so overcooked, as to be inedible. Indeed, we did not eat it. When the potatoes came a few minutes later no warning was given and I burned my fingers on the dish handle causing me to spend the rest of the evening soaking my fingers in ice water and not eating the 90€, overcooked chicken. The chicken should never been allowed to leave the kitchen. Any chef worth his/her toque should be able to cook roast chicken. In addition, the whole mess was handled poorly by the manager, who offered to discount the chicken by half. I was not sure which half of the chicken he thought was edible. IF YOU CAN’T COOK ROADT CHICKEN, GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN!
I would have given this a 1 star but our entrees were quite
I would have given this a 1 star but our entrees were quite good. However, thereafter things deteriorated quite quickly. The 90€ roast chicken disk for 2 was severely overcooked, as to be inedible. The chef, if one was in the kitchen that night, should never have allowed this dish to be served. IF YOU CAN'T COOK ROAST CHICKEN,GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN!
Rude
Waitress was very brusque all through the meal and not just to us. When I refused to leave a tip she threw a strop. Very expensive.
Noisy restaurant with slow service
This is my third and last visit to the restaurant. We were welcomed when we arrived for a 9:00 pm dinner on a Friday night. There was only a short wait for a table, but the wait between getting the menu and ordering was at least 25 minutes. They seemed very disorganized. After the food arrived, I was very disappointed to receive sea scallops that were very small in size and cool to the touch after they had made an issue of bringing very hot plates to the table. I ate them without making a fuss as I did not want to embarrass my host. The desserts were quite limited and I had the vanilla ice cream with coffee and praline. The female server was very unpleasant as my seat was in a corner and hard to deliver food to.
Overpriced and unimaginative.
Claustrophobic, way overpriced, unappetising!!! Food was very ordinary and very few choices. The only good thing here was the wine list. We were recommended to have dinner here but after only having a share main course & very small cheese plate to share as well, the bill of €275 simply doesn't justify it's "reputation".
A landmark restaurant made better. Insanely delicious.
This is one of the best old school French restaurants in Paris with phenomenal service and food. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience. We have been going there for 20 years and were a bit disappointed when it was taken over by Alain Ducasse. Tonight’s dinner was nostalgic, delicious and the service with Aisha (sp) as our server was impeccable. It is not inexpensive, but worth every penny. The entire staff from the Maitre D’ to the sommelier and busser were so professional, yet fun, it really enhanced our evening. I am still thinking about the food even though I am absolutely stuffed. Well done, Alain Ducasse. You kept this landmark in its original, but improved form.
Michellin prices standard food. Dissapointed.
We were here for their Valentines Menu: a four steps with four wines, EUR 180 per person. I believe it didn't worth it. The Maitre (?) was correct, but far from welcoming. We were seated in a table against a column and near other table, while there was other places available. I ask for a change and they were fast to re-accommodate us. There was nothing wrong with the food made by the young chef: I believe she execute it correctly. It is just that the food is not memorable and Im quite convinced that in the entree, the plate left withut they really tasting it: the elements of the dish were good, but they were all disharmonized and kind of not making sense. Later, the fish and the tenderloin with foi gras and truffles were, again correct, but will not be remembered. The wine selection was good, except for a tired Chablis that did not taste like Chablis but more like supermarket white wine, and the somehow strange match of heavy liquor with the desert. The pace of the serving is on the border of the annoyance, as the feeling was that the crew just want to get done and close the restaurant. Nothing was really bad. But nothing was really good. And for that price and with the Alain Ducasse name on it, the final result just does not worth it. Use your hard earned EUR 400 somewhere else when in Paris.
Classic French
Great French bistro style restaurant. Efficient staff and fast service. Great atmosphere and good menu selection. We were there for lunch and will be back.
Horrible!
Don’t be fooled by the Alain Ducasse name. Our meal was terrible. First the waiter was unfriendly bordering on rude. Second and more importantly the food was really mediocre. Don’t go.
If I could give Allard minus stars, I would.
My husband and I have eaten there many times, but the last time we ate at Allard we both got horrible food poisoning that lasted for a week. When we called and talked to the manager of Allard, he dismissed our allegation, claiming no one else had gotten sick the night we ate there. We KNEW it was something we ate at Allard because we had not eaten together or any of the same foods for 3 days before due to business obligations. The sad part of this was that it was a celebratory dinner for our 30th anniversary, and our children had called Allard earlier that day to pay for our meals as an anniversary present. Enough said, we will never go back there.
This is an amazing and a must go traditional destination
This is an amazing and a must go traditional destination for their duck !! Highlight recommend and the intimate ambiance and lighting is a bonus !
This was our splurge night on our trip to Paris.
I cannot recommend the Duck with Olives enough (though I am a huge Olive fan). The bread they serve was delicious. We did order a bottle of wine and I was disappointed that a sommelier was not available to help with our selection. But the food was delicious and the atmosphere was the high end French culinary classic that we were looking forward.
