Fabulous Japanese food with a twist, good choice of wines and Sake, along with excellent service. Book in advance as it always seems to be busy.

I have been going to Zuma many times over the years but it had been a couple of years since I last visited (Covid inhibited me visiting Hong Kong) and there has unfortunately been a change at Zuma, specially to do with the customer service experience. We booked for 4 people for a friends birthday and they told us that there would be a $70HKD cake cover charge per person for the cake I was brining in for my friend... I was utterly shocked by this as I have never been to a calibre of restaurant such as this and asked to pay for a cake charge. The other thing we were asked to pay for separately was some mayonnaise ($30HKD) we wanted to have with our deep fried calamari which was cooked very dry... again, utterly shocked to be charged for a condiment which would normally come complimentary at a restaurant like this. We asked to see the manager to complain about the calamari dish and he had the audacity to say he will try it first to see if it is dry and if it is, he'll send us a new one...*insert head explosion emoji here*. Again shocked!! We said we did not want it at all after all of that!! Thankfully the food was delicious and just as good as I remember, but the overall experience was impacted because of some shocking policies they have in place. We ended up NOT having the birthday cake there and had it at our next hospitable destination.

I'm going to list my grievances in the order they happened: 1) The staff checked the rat test at the entrance but came down to the terrace to check it again because once is never enough. 2) We had a bill of $36K, they didn't even let us see our table setting prior to ensure we are seated together 3) Once the table was shown to us, there was no service at all for like 15 mins!!!! 4) We had to ask for our drinks multiple times on many occasions until we got served, clearly the proportion of servers to patrons on our table was not enough. Was pretty much 1 server trying to serve 23 people. Odds were definitely against her. 5) No refills without asking which is very very contrary to my other visits at Zuma. Zuma is known to never let your glass be empty, at least this has always been my experience. Clearly they don't have enough servers. 6) Food arrived very late and not all the tables got served at the same time. We were the same group so would be nice if we got served at the same time. 7) Some of our repeat orders never arrived. And to top it off we got served sushi without wasabi?? 8) It was Extremely hot!!! Felt like Air con was switched off the entire time 9) Finally, when we were leaving, we expressed our grievance to their staff, they were far from apologetic. Even when the manager called me back, he gave me a very unapologetic apology. Not sure how managers can have such an attitude problem and still have their job after seeing several complaints about the same manager in other posts.

The food was okay, but not great. The service was poor, and it was a very expensive meal. We booked for a table, but on arrival were told to sit at the counter or outside (unpleasant heat and smell of cigarette smoke!). At the end, a compulsory tip, despite the poor service. They do not accept consumption voucher payment. HK$1,300 per head for a very average meal.

The food was okay. For the price, I was just expecting to be blown away by all dishes. Don't set your expectations too high when you visit. The service staff assigned on our table took good care of us.

I hadnโt been to Zuma for years. My friend wished to try the restaurant. Since the Restaurant Week menu seemed good value for money, I took him there for dinner a couple of days ago. The menu included quite a lot of dishes. The style of the food hadnโt changed much since my last visit. Itโs westernised Japanese food similar to that of Tokio Joe and Honjo for example. Of course, Zuma is a bit more upscale. Most of the dishes tended to be strong favoured and contained a lot of sauce. The quality of ingredients was good but far from exceptional. The food was reasonably good on the whole although no dish really stood out. We got what we paid for. Upon enquiry with the restaurant, I was told that the corkage fee was HK$800 per bottle and the restsurant wouldnโt waive the same even with an order of a bottle from its wine list. So, it wasnโt worth bringing our own bottle. The markup on alcohol was steep. We ended up paying about HK$1,000 for a bottle of sake with a retail price pf around HK$250. The service was a bit rushed. The food came too quickly. At one point we almost didnโt have enough space on the table for the dishes. The staff were friendly and professional though. And I liked the lively ambience.

Good buzzing restaurant, nice vegetarian options, love their grilled cod fish, sushi and sashimi is very fresh, tempura is good too. Desserts and service specially reception hostess can be improved. Nice buzzing music and atmosphere.

Not everyone speaks Cantonese in the service staff, reception team seemed confused and overwhelmed with the bookings. Music was too loud. Tempura, sushiโs and cod was nice but the desserts need improvement.
We have been visiting Zuma since back in the days when they had newly opened but every time since each visit there is a miss and a hit with the experience.

I go to zuma with a bunch of friends for a good meal and a good catch up chat . Instead tonight we have a DJ and band of sorts playing loud music . Can we not turn things down and chill so people can eat and enjoy rather than being crowded out by a DJ and band who are not exactly top class ?. Spoiling conversation must be the aim ?!

Too HK Brunch. Perfect
The best quality brunch in HK (yet). Zuma was amazing. Ruinart champagne flowed like a River, the food came fast and good. The mains perfect and not too big. It was the best experience. Recent reviews from me at Conrad and Duddles were great. But this place was better that most. Deserving of my personal No 1 spot

I came here in May and I came to zuma for so many times. This time there was a Italian manager who shouted at me for asking for drinks after 930 pm. They called the police and they didnโt even apologize to me. This manager should be fired as I havenโt seen such a bad manger who handles things badly as him. THIS GUS SHOULD BE IRED FOR YELLING TO ME, AS A GUEST. Will never come back again
