Zum See Zermatt Reviews
Food, Tortelloni and Fendant wine was amazing as was the
Food, Tortelloni and Fendant wine was amazing as was the service and Napoleon dessert specialty. Great location with inside and outside sitting. We sat inside and enjoyed the atmosphere and camaraderie with other guests. Great set up with a place to hang or ski helmets.
Favorite restaurant in Zermatt! We skied down to this
Favorite restaurant in Zermatt! We skied down to this charming restaurant (Furi lift-Piste 50) and had the most amazing late lunch. The goulash soup was a definite highlight (better than the one my Austrian dad makes from scratch....shhh, don't tell him!). The Apfelkuchen reminded me of the one my Viennese grandmother made for me every year when I visited her in Austria, so authentic! The ambiance was warm and welcoming and the service made us feel like we were old friends. I can't recommend this gem enough and it will be the first place we book when we come back! Vielen Dank and bis nächstes Jahr!!

The best restaurant in Zermatt!
Zum See is truly our favorite restaurant and one of the reasons we go back to Zermatt every year! Their food and service are superb! Kim and Marion are amazing! We ordered their special- asparagus with Dover sole; their tortelloni with spinach which is homemade and delicious; and their Napoleon Zum see which they are famous for and truly the best mille-feuille we’ve ever had! Their chocolate mousse is not to be missed either! I highly recommend Zum See!!
The best Millfeulle, or Cremeschnitte
The place is unique, a few steps away from the main ski Loop but with direct acces from Furi to Furg, the place offers a large variety of Swiss and international dishes. Its main service is at lunch, and in nice days you can sit outside. Service and attention are e must. the house and International priced "Cremeschnitte" is the jewel after a lunch. will certainly return
A must visit in Zermatt!
You CANNOT miss this restaurant if you're in Zermatt. It is worth the ski down or hike up 100 times over. It has great traditional cuisine, a beautiful view and quick service. It was good value for money compared to other Zermatt restaurants. You must have some of their fresh desserts/sweet treats!
A treasure of a place
I've skied in Zermatt for a few years now yet never made it here until I decided to make a reservation once and for all! The place is just off the home run from Furi to town (though plenty of walkers seem to make it up) and you climb up into a magical long lost land of old wooden buildings and a tiny courtyard of tables and a covered terrace. It doesn't have any (thank god) of Zermatt town's shiny bling.....and is for the better, bursting with charm and old-school friendliness. I was solo this year and got a lovely small private and secluded table on the terrace right next to the restaurant - I had the lamb and the Cremschdnitte desert which was divine and this with the superb ambience convinced me to book again for the next day!! Day 2 and I came back to my old seat again and this time at 2pm after a full day skiing I went for the full shebang of the fish soup, roast chicken and gratin and Cremschidnitte again! I have never felt so welcome, its only in the US that as a solo diner do I feel normal (in Europe you are often stared at or staff are puzzled but none of that here). They even proactively moved me to a bigger table further up the terrace for more sunshine as they were quieter, even as a solo diner - how kind is that! ? The food is excellent, the ambience is magical and the staff are as friendly as can be. I think yes you should book but even so I did note the lengths that staff went to try and accommodate those who popped in without reservations - they do their best unlike some of the other mountain restaurants here who don't want to know you without a booking. I can see now what the reputation of this place is all about and its fully deserved.
Cosy, busy jewel in the mountains
Located above Zermatt in a cozy chalet, this traditional restaurant is and has been for many years one of our favourite places in and around Zermatt. We again went there for a lunch (you should make a reservation), hiked up from Zermatt (you can also ski down from Furi). The beef and the tuna carpaccio were excellent; nothing fancy or over-decorated, just honest and excellent fresh dishes. The fish soup is an absolute MUST! This alone justifies a visit to Zum See. Don’t leave without the millefeuille (Cremeschnitte) as desert! The atmosphere is chalet style, it’s rather dark, tight and a bit noisy. Just perfect.
Loved it
Loved this place - cozy, friendly service, and most importantly, excellent food. A new favorite in Zermatt!
Amazing a must go.
I loved all the flavors. Original and so tasty. A must. So lucky I reserved a spot. . From the appetizers to the desserts a must have ! Most favorite of my trip to Zermatt!
Wonderful lunch in an incredible setting.
We felt transported back in time in this beautiful alpine hut. Attentive service even when restaurant was full. Loved the lamb Provençal and tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Zum See Zermatt at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Zum See Zermatt page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FulfilledThread16, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FulfilledThread16 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FulfilledThread16 for any questions Peter may have as FulfilledThread16 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FulfilledThread16 now uses their connections at Zum See Zermatt to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FulfilledThread16 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FulfilledThread16 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FulfilledThread16's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Zum See Zermatt!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
