Stunning fusion of Asian and French cuisine to delight the palette

5/5 by 👻 @Sherpa22719958500 on 06/07/2024

Simply superb!! Every dish surpassed the previous one and the combination of different teas with each course was innovative. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

French-Chinese fusion that works!

5/5 by 👻 @Helmut on 05/28/2024

The place is small, but wonderfully decorated. Because it was lunch, I chose the tasting menu and the tea pairing. I had to leave at 2 o'clock sharp and had some dietary restrictions that the staff kindly accommodated. Thank you! I am usually skeptical of fusion cousins because it generally ends in fusion confusion... However, this was not the case! Every dish that came out was a surprise of flavors and textures. Paired with a freshly-brewed matching tea made each bite absolutely divine. The highlight was the Stilton-filled steamed bun. Never would have thought it would be that delicious. Staff were friendly and prices reasonable. A definite must-go when in Paris!

A gem!

5/5 by 👻 @Waverly D on 04/01/2024

This is such an interesting restaurant. The dishes are of high quality for sure and commensurable to it rating level. What allows this restaurant to stand out among other Michelin 1 star restaurants is probably the chef's unique and creative interpretation of many of the familiar dishes in Asian cuisine. There is something familiar but then it is also unfamiliar. The dishes are satisfying but at the same time thought-provoking! Not to mention the tea pairing, which is excellent and totally admirable. This restaurant is definitely on my to-do list for my next trip to Paris!

Superb Dining Experience

5/5 by 👻 @Steve9117 on 09/29/2023

Excellent dining experience. Food was superb - no dish was reminiscent of any food we have encountered before. Service was top notch with many of the courses delivered by the chef herself who was most affable. We did tea pairings which complimented every course. Cannot recommend too highly.

Incredible Food, Even In The Opinion Of A Very Critical Taiwanese-American Diner

5/5 by 👻 @Wesley L on 09/05/2023

I dined at a lot of restaurants in Paris during my holiday. Some in the Michelin guide, but not starred, some not in the Michelin guide, and, of course, here at Yam'Tcha. There's something that sets a restaurant apart that earns them a Michelin star. There's a quality to the service, ambience, and cuisine; Yam'Tcha certainly deserves their star. I am Taiwanese-American and have a reputation among my friends that they should not invite me to an Asian restaurant unless it's so beyond reproach that I can't say a single bad thing about it. Or that they should be ready for me to pick it apart. haha Very happy to say that Yam'Tcha squarely fell in the former category. Everything was incredible from start to finish. All of the dishes were elevated takes on the dishes I grew up with. The mushroom toast, a play on shrimp toast, was gorgeous and I could have had five more. The sweet and sour lobster, sweet and sour being a dish that's oftentimes derided as "Americanized Chinese food" but is actually a beloved legit style, was beautiful. The desserts... the fruit soup with gelatinized mushroom was reminiscent of a childhood favorite, Xingren Dofu, a pantry recipe made usually with canned fruit cocktail and almond tofu. And the last bite, the delightfully delicate and soft mochi stuffed with cream and mango, immediately made me think of the staple Chinese bakery cakes made with sponge cream, and fresh fruits. I'm missing comments on the rest of the dishes, but everything was truly très magnifique. As someone that doesn't drink, the option of doing a tea pairing instead of wine was fantastic. Each tea brought out additional notes and depth in the dishes. The whole serving staff was fantastic as well and I am crestfallen that I didn't recognize Chef Adeline Grattard was a part of it while we were there. Merci beaucoup encore, xie xie xie xie, team at Yam'Tcha. J'ai très bien mangé and I can't wait to see what is on the menu the next time I visit.

A must do in Paris!

5/5 by 👻 @Travellers057 on 07/06/2023

Stunning food and eclectic wine pairings make this a must visit ( as we do) every time in Paris. Each plate is an experience in its self, and often the combination surprises how the ingredients match each other. Take the matching wines, the selection is somewhat surprising in its selection, but spot on with each course.

Loved the experience. Lucky enough to meet the chef herself! Come with an open mind and you will be impressed

5/5 by 👻 @JJJ on 05/23/2023

Loved the experience. Incredible hospitality from the chef herself(!), with genuine intention to connect with us as guests. Also has been extremely accommodative as we had to finish the menu within 1.5 hr and they did speed up for us. My wife and I enjoyed the top class meal, while some of the dishes really hits us hard with lots of nostalgia (as someone from Hong Kong and now working abroad). It really felt like home. I read from other reviews that the taste is polarizing. We fully understand that view as this restaurant serves a mixture of taste from the far east (to be specific, more towards Hong Kong or Guangdong / southern part of China). But come with an open mind, you will love it.

Yam 'Tcha

5/5 by 👻 @LJL4090 on 01/23/2023

We’ve eaten at Yam ‘Tcha so many times, and enjoyed every meal. Could it be that we’ve never eaten the same dish twice except for the Stilton steamed bun which comes after course #5 or #6 and before dessert (the cheese course)? Every meal has been delicious, inventive and unusual. Still a mix of French ingredients and Asian inspiration and technique. It is a unique restaurant, comfortable in the slightly larger space it moved into six or so years ago. One change: the chef’s 10-year-old son was spending this weekend night helping his mother in the kitchen (see her in an early episode of Chef’s Table). One menu. No choice. The key staff have become like friends, even though we see them only once or twice each year. Every guest treated warmly. Many, like us, longtime regulars. Better than ever, and still our favorite Paris meal. Menu now, 170€, plus wines by the bottle or glass.

This place is so good! The good was amazing and the service

5/5 by 👻 @Minh Thu N. on 12/14/2022

This place is so good! The good was amazing and the service was insanely great. I went with my mom and we both loved everything. We had both the wine pairing and the tea pairing. For me, I really enjoyed the wine pairing and thought it was worth it with the unique wines. However, although the tea was nice, I didn't think it was worth it. It didn't stand out to me as anything too unique for each of the teas, and thus not worth the cost. But I enjoyed it nonetheless. I would highly recommend going here for a nice evening out.

This used to be my absolute favorite restaurant in Paris

4/5 by 👻 @C T. on 11/17/2022

This used to be my absolute favorite restaurant in Paris for its Asian-inspired and super complex flavors. Some of that is still there, but I feel like it's no longer as inspired as when I came here nearly a decade ago now after watching Chef's Table. Our first course was shrimp chips w/a fried meat balls underneath it. Where was my super yummy crab egg roll that I used to devour?! The dish was so uninspired...please get rid of this from your rotation.I loved the squid dish - very complex flavors but still fresh and bright. The fish was well prepared and flavored over mashed potatoes and salmon roe. My favorite was the frog's legs - loved the taste of the little drumsticks.Dessert was good -the panna cotta was very tasty. The black sesame was a little less accessible for me. And as much as I love baos, the blue cheese inside was too weird for me. Gave my DS a tummyache.Yes, I would go back but I miss the old dishes (please bring back the strawberries in Sorel sauce, the crab egg roll, the potato noodles!).

Polarizing, definitely interesting

4/5 by 👻 @Jarhy Mugby on 11/04/2022

Yamt‘cha will leave some totally fascinated, others frustrated. It is a very unique place that breaks with some Michelin conventions. My overall judgement: 4/5. Service: OK, but a little cool. Not very personal, but attentive and efficient. Atmosphere: it’s a nice place. Tea pairing: outstanding. A new experience for me and definitely something that sets this restaurant apart from virtually all others in Europe. Very sophisticated matches. Wine pairing: good. Food: there were some courses that were outstanding. Very unique style of cooking. China and France really Meeting on eye level. Large portions and bold combinations of flavor. Then suddenly a course that consists only of mushrooms and a lot of rice. Tasted OK, certainly a decent mushroom risotto - but what on earth has a dish like this to do on a Michelin starred menu? Followed by the meat main course that actually only consisted of peppered duck meat. Also: tasty and plentiful, but rather blunt. Far away from a serious haut cuisine. Really disappointing. Dessert: again very good with the signature dish of the house (a Chinese bun) being absolutely outstanding. Overall: it is a rollercoaster. It is fascinating and the tea pairing makes in an experience. If You want a higher consistency of quality at half the price and an overall tastier menu, go 100 meters to neighboring MUMI restaurant.
