Superb Dining Experience
Excellent dining experience. Food was superb - no dish was reminiscent of any food we have encountered before. Service was top notch with many of the courses delivered by the chef herself who was most affable. We did tea pairings which complimented every course. Cannot recommend too highly.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible Food, Even In The Opinion Of A Very Critical Taiwanese-American Diner
I dined at a lot of restaurants in Paris during my holiday. Some in the Michelin guide, but not starred, some not in the Michelin guide, and, of course, here at Yam'Tcha. There's something that sets a restaurant apart that earns them a Michelin star. There's a quality to the service, ambience, and cuisine; Yam'Tcha certainly deserves their star. I am Taiwanese-American and have a reputation among my friends that they should not invite me to an Asian restaurant unless it's so beyond reproach that I can't say a single bad thing about it. Or that they should be ready for me to pick it apart. haha Very happy to say that Yam'Tcha squarely fell in the former category. Everything was incredible from start to finish. All of the dishes were elevated takes on the dishes I grew up with. The mushroom toast, a play on shrimp toast, was gorgeous and I could have had five more. The sweet and sour lobster, sweet and sour being a dish that's oftentimes derided as "Americanized Chinese food" but is actually a beloved legit style, was beautiful. The desserts... the fruit soup with gelatinized mushroom was reminiscent of a childhood favorite, Xingren Dofu, a pantry recipe made usually with canned fruit cocktail and almond tofu. And the last bite, the delightfully delicate and soft mochi stuffed with cream and mango, immediately made me think of the staple Chinese bakery cakes made with sponge cream, and fresh fruits. I'm missing comments on the rest of the dishes, but everything was truly très magnifique. As someone that doesn't drink, the option of doing a tea pairing instead of wine was fantastic. Each tea brought out additional notes and depth in the dishes. The whole serving staff was fantastic as well and I am crestfallen that I didn't recognize Chef Adeline Grattard was a part of it while we were there. Merci beaucoup encore, xie xie xie xie, team at Yam'Tcha. J'ai très bien mangé and I can't wait to see what is on the menu the next time I visit.
Be the first to ReplyA must do in Paris!
Stunning food and eclectic wine pairings make this a must visit ( as we do) every time in Paris. Each plate is an experience in its self, and often the combination surprises how the ingredients match each other. Take the matching wines, the selection is somewhat surprising in its selection, but spot on with each course.
Be the first to ReplyLoved the experience. Lucky enough to meet the chef herself! Come with an open mind and you will be impressed
Loved the experience. Incredible hospitality from the chef herself(!), with genuine intention to connect with us as guests. Also has been extremely accommodative as we had to finish the menu within 1.5 hr and they did speed up for us. My wife and I enjoyed the top class meal, while some of the dishes really hits us hard with lots of nostalgia (as someone from Hong Kong and now working abroad). It really felt like home. I read from other reviews that the taste is polarizing. We fully understand that view as this restaurant serves a mixture of taste from the far east (to be specific, more towards Hong Kong or Guangdong / southern part of China). But come with an open mind, you will love it.

We’ve eaten at Yam ‘Tcha so many times, and enjoyed every meal. Could it be that we’ve never eaten the same dish twice except for the Stilton steamed bun which comes after course #5 or #6 and before dessert (the cheese course)? Every meal has been delicious, inventive and unusual. Still a mix of French ingredients and Asian inspiration and technique. It is a unique restaurant, comfortable in the slightly larger space it moved into six or so years ago. One change: the chef’s 10-year-old son was spending this weekend night helping his mother in the kitchen (see her in an early episode of Chef’s Table). One menu. No choice. The key staff have become like friends, even though we see them only once or twice each year. Every guest treated warmly. Many, like us, longtime regulars. Better than ever, and still our favorite Paris meal. Menu now, 170€, plus wines by the bottle or glass.
Be the first to ReplyPolarizing, definitely interesting
Yamt‘cha will leave some totally fascinated, others frustrated. It is a very unique place that breaks with some Michelin conventions. My overall judgement: 4/5. Service: OK, but a little cool. Not very personal, but attentive and efficient. Atmosphere: it’s a nice place. Tea pairing: outstanding. A new experience for me and definitely something that sets this restaurant apart from virtually all others in Europe. Very sophisticated matches. Wine pairing: good. Food: there were some courses that were outstanding. Very unique style of cooking. China and France really Meeting on eye level. Large portions and bold combinations of flavor. Then suddenly a course that consists only of mushrooms and a lot of rice. Tasted OK, certainly a decent mushroom risotto - but what on earth has a dish like this to do on a Michelin starred menu? Followed by the meat main course that actually only consisted of peppered duck meat. Also: tasty and plentiful, but rather blunt. Far away from a serious haut cuisine. Really disappointing. Dessert: again very good with the signature dish of the house (a Chinese bun) being absolutely outstanding. Overall: it is a rollercoaster. It is fascinating and the tea pairing makes in an experience. If You want a higher consistency of quality at half the price and an overall tastier menu, go 100 meters to neighboring MUMI restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible Blend of Flavors!
I barely ate anything! Every dish was doing too much, the flavors clashing horribly and not one single dish leading to the next!
Be the first to ReplyReally dug this place
Just great food. Very seafood-based with scallops, oysters, abalone and salmon all involved. Chased the 7 courses with a chassagne Montrachet 2018.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre food with horrible service
We loved the food in Paris and the food here was better than ok but the service was absolutely horrible. I read prior reviews and there’s just a bit of an arrogance that flowed from our waiter, to our sommelier. The worst part was I’m allergic to shellfish and when I got my fish dish I had to ask if those were baby shrimp on the bottom of my plate…… But like I said the food was ok, it’s the service that made it not worth trying again
Be the first to ReplyGood, but not worth the trip
Appealing looking space with tasty but a bit too rich food (given the Asian influence) and thoughtful wine pairing is offset by a relatively impersonal staff that seems to perform its duties in a perfunctory manner. The spacing between tables provides intimacy but little pulse. I want my Michelin experiences to be true experiences. This was not. To make matters worse, our umbrellas were taken by other guests (note to staff: if you are going to take our umbrellas when we arrive, please safeguard them until we leave).

Still, our best meal in Paris and our favorite people. 28 seats, ten small courses (some with multiple separate tastes), no choice, wonderful wines and careful service. Every day a different menu – for 12 years.
During Covid, closed two months and again for seven. Everything back in order, and better than ever.
Our welcome developed over 12 years of many dinners, but the same menu and its careful and creative French/Chinese excellence available to everyone.
What a waste of time and money
We've wanted to eat at Yamtcha for a long time since we saw a Netflix show "Chef's Table".
We are very disappointed from the start. The unfriendly staff brought us to our table and we felt so unwelcome. No explanation of the restaurant concept and paired with cold service.
I understand it's serious business, but a little smile won't hurt.
The first through second menu was ok, then it got worse. We have eaten better and tastier meals in a few other restaurants. The status of the 1st Michelin star restaurant needs to be reassessed, as it goes far beyond customer dissatisfaction.
The waitress didn't have any curtosy and was too arrogant to ask us how our experience was.
It's not a cheap restaurant and it's definitely not worth our money or time.
Netflix fraud
We visited Yam Tcha based on the Netflix show the chefs table, we had very high expectations and we were extremely disappointed..
ambience, decor, service and wine are up to the standards, but the food is far away from any Michelin restaurant we have every tried and compared to other Chinese restaurants in paris like Shang palace or the one in the peninsula it’s definitely going to loose
-Amuse bouche were ok , but my wife did not like the cold spring roll at all, but I did not mind it
-Ceviche was less than average, taste is blunt abd expected
-Soup was really good but again it’s just good
-Artichoke left us with a very bad stomach all day and we could feel it’s after taste till dinner
- the biggest disaster for me was the main dish which was chicken with Sichuan peppers and cashew nuts, and I swear it tasted like u had it in a Chinese takeout in Cairo ! Where is the edge, where is the craft of cooking if a Michelin star chef ?!
- their famous bao the only unchangeable item in the menu was really good, but it’s just a cheese bao so it’s suppose to taste good
I am sorry to tell u that YamTcha is the lowest rated Michelin star restaurants that I have ever been to, highly not recommended
Not worth it
Not worth the hype IMO. Service was clumsy, the courses felt rushed and the food is not inspired. There are too many great restaurants in Paris that offer a much better experience.
