Tasting menu has 18 dishes, each dish is a small bite, but enough to fill you up and let you out of the wall! I think one of the best is the appetizer, a raw wagyu beef with yuzu jelly fish roe sauce is very refreshing, not a trace of fishy flavor of beef. There was also a smoked raw beef, the smoky flavor was very fragrant and the meat was fresh and nice. The most gimmicky veggie dipped in his homemade miso was also very tasty! After the main event of the barbecue, my favorite is his lemon salt and onion sauce, one can not eat enough to ask the store for a few more copies. The meats were all very good and there was no stepping on any toes. The best part of the meal was the beef bone marrow bibimbap, which was so good that I couldn't stop eating it, but my hands couldn't stop picking up the rice. The only thing I found a bit unfortunate was the Wagyu Sukiyaki at the end, the meat was good but it was too mushy to be put at the end of the meal. The chocolate for dessert was very interesting, luckily the waiter reminded me to keep my mouth closed before I start biting, otherwise a packet of matcha sauce would have spewed out!
Be the first to ReplyTook my wife here for her birthday.
The service was quick and our servers were all polite and clearly loved their job. The Chef's PreFixe Menu worked out great for both of us and we ordered two drinks. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and the drinks they offer. I'd rather not give any of those a way and just say, give them at try. :-)

Very tender beef slices with great service! Very worth the money. They also have sushi and sashimi as well.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food! I've been going to this restaurant annually.
This restaurant can be pricey, but it is worth it. They serve a large assortment of different cuts of meat and they cook it in front of you. They're so delicious whether it's the meat or side dishes. I remember every time the service is great the servers are attentive and very accommodating to your needs. I would 100% recommend this place to people who are looking for a nice dinner out.

Went here to celebrate our anniversary and the food and service were great. With drinks, we spent about $210 PP. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because I don't feel the price was worth it, but it was still a good experience. The first 4 meats that they cook on the grill for you were quite bland and chewy. If they would tweak certain things, then this place would 100% be worth every pennh. My favorite things were the wagyu tartare, the Japanese wagyu dipped in a poached egg, and the bone marrow fried rice. I was completely full when the Japanese wagyu came around, but yet it was still so delicious. A dessert also came out that said happy anniversary with our names which I felt was a really beautiful touch. They really made us feel special on our special day.

There's nothing better than meeting up with close friends for drinks and dinner. As usual, every time I'm in town, I tend to like to visit Yakiya at least once. TBH, since they change their menu quite often because of seasonal changes, but this trip/visit; I feel like it's definitely worth posting. If you've had Yakiya prior when they first opened, you'll understand the hit or miss part, but overall, Yakiya is a great experience and if you haven't, go give it a try! You won't regret it if it's your first or 2nd time. Pretty surprisingly, I would recommend going if you have 2 hrs to spare, but it seems like they sped up their courses and we were finished within an hr. Still the right time frame to chat, catch up and get drunk all in the process. This time we brought our own bottles in for a cork fee. They'll always recommend a bone marrow shot, which in my opinion, isn't worth it at all, but hey, we all live for the experience, right?
Be the first to ReplyWow! The meats were amazing.
High quality and artfully prepared and cooked in front of you. Service was great and the ambience was semi up scale. I enjoyed everything here including the fancy drinks. The veggie set could be better prepared but I suppose that's not the highlight of this restaurant. Favorite course was the spoon tuna? , Marrow rice, and wagyu with egg.

I was gitty with excitement when I was looking for a tasting menu and found out there's a high end tasting menu restaurant specializing in beef. Like, are you joking me? We started out with their raw meat dishes consisting of carpaccio and tartar followed by various cuts and preparations that were to die for! Every course was presented and served elegantly while the staff did a great job explaining what we ate and timed everything perfectly. I am 100% coming back for a special occasion and was blown out of the water with how much I loved my experience here.

Wow what an experience! Everything from the dishes, ambiance, and the service was superb! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for any special occasion. It is basically omakase for Japanese BBQ. The set course is $128 pp. Overally, we paid about $200 pp after sake and tip. Presentation on every dish was 5 stars! Even the palette cleansers and the in-between meat dishes were well curated and very delicious. The service was 10/10. Every dish was served very timely, and he set time aside for photos prior to cooking the meats. Each piece melted in our mouths. I loved every dish but the highlights were: - Waygu spoon with cavier - Bone marrow fried rice with filet mignon - Bluefin tuna tarlette - Japanese waygu with poached egg - Beef tongue (The lemon scallion was chef's kiss) Also, they had an extensive alcohol menu. We had opted for sake this visit, but I would love to try some of their mixed drinks the next time around.

Loved the food, we found this place accidentally thinking it was sushi but it was a very good mistake! Very delicious but definitely dress for a special occasion. We loved all The courses and the desserts were absolutely delicious! At first we thought we wouldn't get full but by the end of dinner we were more than satisfied!
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for a dear friend's birthday.
The service is very good, they are consistently checking on you. The ambiance is nice and quiet, good place to hang out and chat with your friends. The food is very good, from the presentation to the taste are 5 stars! Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyWe have been here a few times.
We came here with our friends. The atmosphere was always nice. The food was good, there were some cuts of meat that I thought could be more tender but overall everything was relatively good. My favorite item was the beef cheek soup. The meat is soo tender paired perfectly with the daikon/radish and some clear broth. So refreshingly delicious. The kids meal was not the best. The kids meal comes with just a steamed egg, a plate of fruits and veggies with some serice and I'm assuming a watered down version of the red miso paste? And then he got a thick piece of beef. Which took forever to cook and even then it was still undercooked and super tough. Overall it's a good restaurant for date night or get together with friends. For a total of 4 adults and a kid the bill came out to be $600, $700 after tip. So definitely on the pricier side.
Be the first to ReplyCouldn't really get any better than this.
. the food was amazing. Drinks, service and atmosphere was all 10/10. This is our second time, best believe we'll be back!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best pre-fixe yakiniku place around this area.
It's also a nice and intimate place for a date too. They have high quality beef and the staffs will grill it to perfection for you. All the staffs are friendly and attentive. I thought they paced each course perfectly. For cocktails, I usually get the skytree, the pagoda, or bullet train. They are located in a big plaza, so plenty of parking. I would recommend getting a reservation though. I highly recommend this place if you are celebrating something special, or just want an upscale delicious dinner =P.

Yakiya reminded me of Omaniku but better in terms of the courses and service. When you do omakase, sometimes the courses blend together and it's not memorable anymore but I love the courses at yakiya was different. The ox tail soup was a really nice addition. I heard they don't have it at the Pasadena location. The restaurant itself is beautiful and elegant. The service was excellent. Some restaurants have good service but always seemed little fake and pretentious but everyone we encountered here was genuinely nice and actually deserved a 20% tip. Our waiter was so pretty and sweet. Each course came out timely. I hate waiting around so I loved how as soon as I finish, a new course was on my table. Highlight of the meal was the A5 wagyu and I loved the smoked beef raw dish. Beef tartar with cavier was also memorable. One extra star for the Japanese toilet!!

I don't normally write any reviews because I'm biased since I'm in the industry too. But I do have to tip my cap to this place. The food, presentation, ambiance, and service, specifically Tiffany and the rest of the staff were amazing. I can't say too much more because you just need to experience for yourself. Will not be disappointed.

This was me and my husbands first time having a Chef's Pre-fixe Menu', especially for Japanese wagyu. And I can't tell you how amazing the experience is. First was an eye opener; we got raw meat and truly scared to continue but it wasn't too bad. We couldn't wait for the meats to come and once they did, omg it was to die for/melt in your mouth/wish I could have more/ type feeling. The staff were great; very polite and respectful. She definitely has lots of knowledge and experience. Our table was always cleaned, napkins folded, meats cooked to perfection. Also I love the dark atmosphere, dimmed lights, soft music, black interior. Would love to come back again!
Be the first to ReplyMy first visit to this chic restaurant.
The decor is upscale and sets the mood for your dining experience. Excellent choice for a romantic night out or if you want to impress your guest(s). Menu is prix fix. Worth the splurge $$$. Seriously, everything was fantastic! Presentation of the food was creative and delicious. Our server was exceptional! We didn't have to ask for anything ... because he anticipated our every need. Water was filled, plates cleared , napkins folded ,new utensils and cooked our various grilled meat throughout dinner service. He made effort to engage our party in conversation and made us feel very welcome. So pleased that a restaurant of this caliber is near my neighborhood . Please enjoy pics from our meal. In my opinion, this restaurant is Michelin star worthy .

Far and away one of the most overrated, overpriced, exceptionally bland dinners I've ever had. This place is a bastion of Wagyu fetish. Which is to say that it's a tourist trap for morons who get off on the idea of eating some "rare meat from Japan." Almost $650 for four people. A prefixe menu of EXTREMELY pretentious food, prepared unceremoniously, tasting as forgettable as last pack of airline peanuts I had. Yakiya thinks that they're really doing something interesting. Really hitting high marks. In reality their entire operation is as cheap as the suits they make their staff wear. A bad dupe, in a boring part of town. Buyer beware. This place SUCKS.
Be the first to ReplyA meal here is definitely a special experience.
The pre-fix menu takes you on a quality beef journey that will conclude with planning your next visit here. The bone marrow fried rice is by far the biggest surprise, setting an unrealistic bar for fried rice everywhere.Elegant locale and attentive staff, makes for a great evening. Price is worth it!

Be the first to ReplyWe've dined here about five times or so now and each time
We've dined here about five times or so now and each time was exceptional. The ambiance of the restaurant feels very modern with dim lights and clean black walls and backlights. Each server is also dressed in suits which makes the place have a very high-end feel. I also like that the servers remember us and even remember our earlier conversations. Shout-out to the manager TJ and server Sunny (I apologize if I spelled that wrong). For cocktails, we really like the one punch man, which does not really taste like alcohol. You can feel it in there though so this one is a fun drink. The skytree is also very light, and the night in roppongi is a nice stronger cocktail. The yakiniku menu starts off with a great yuzu palate cleanser and an amazing spoonful of tartare. These two items alone already let you know the rest of the dinner is going to be phenomenal. For the hot apps, the chawanmushi is perfectly fluffy, but our favorite is the beef cheek soup. The broth is very rich and the beef cheek completely breaks apart when you cut it with your spoon and melts in your mouth. As a final palate cleanser before the cooked meat portion, you get fruit cubes which were very juicy.Like the appetizers, the meat portion is no disappointment either. All of the meats were juicy, and they were cooked to medium-rare perfection all of the times we've dined here. My favorite cut of the board would be the rib cap which is very thin and packs so much flavor and umami. The filet mignon with bone marrow and rice was also one of our favorite dishes with the bone marrow providing a slight smoky taste which complements the soft beef cut and rice. But our favorite was the last dish which was a very thin strip of wagyu coated in egg. The marbling immediately catches your eye and the fat gives the egg so much flavor. And it doesn't end there. Dessert is also amazing and is a great ending to the meal. You first get a nice and icy sorbet with a thin strip of charcoal for an extra crunch. And then you get a small white ball which looks like a normal chocolate ball. But once you bite into it, the refreshing liquid filling bursts out and cleanses your palate all over again.Overall, a great experience and truly worth the $128 price tag. All of the meats were juicy and well-seasoned, and all of the apps were amazing standalone dishes. Service is exceptional and well-trained to cook the meat. Our drive to Yakiya is just under an hour but it is worth it every time.

I've been here twice-- once for my dad's birthday, and another time for my 21st birthday, and each time, the food blows me away. They start you off with a small shot of yuzu juice, which is apparently made in-house. Delicious! The first meat course, A5 NY Strip with ponzu jelly and arima sancho pepper, is fabulous. The raw A5 melts on your tongue, and is complemented perfectly by the jelly. The second course (originally a nori tube filled with tartare and topped with quail egg, but I much prefer the updated item), a puffed beef tendon topped with seaweed salt, served with USDA Prime Ribeye tartare topped with quail egg, is absolutely divineee. The rich, tender beef paired with creamy quail egg, served atop the crispy tendon, is simply heavenly. The Chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) with Dungeness Crab and shiitake mushroom is exactly what chawanmushi should be, creamy, rich, and flavorful. The local veggie platter was also tasty-- I quite enjoyed the salty dip it was served with. The braised beef cheeks with soup was delicate and tender, although it probably was my least favorite course of the meal (but it was still delicious, mind you! There were just so many other tasty morsels). The beef tongue with lemon scallion kosho was one of the best bites of the night, and the compressed melon with matcha powder were a lovely break from the richness of the beef courses. I believe they also served a marinated tomato, which was delightful. The grilled beefs were all incredibly juicy and tender, and the bone marrow fried rice was absolutely dreamy. The best bite of the night, however, was the thinly-sliced A5 grilled and dipped in egg yolk. The meal is finished off with pineapple sorbet with ginger jelly and chocolate balls filled with matcha. Yakiya is truly a memorable experience, and I'd highly recommend for special occasions! It's one of my favorite restaurants, and honestly, you really do get your money's worth!
