Real Yakitori
This a is an authentic Japanese Yakitori restaurant. They cook prepared meat on sumi fire so it takes a little to be served but they are freshly cooked and so good. One order is $2 to $3. Ordering 2 of each will speed up your order with less waiting.
Sake is very good. Chilled ones are better than heated ones. Not so cheap so select one that is reasonable.
We ordered rice-balls to finish off the dinner. It used very good rice and they were very tasty.
Small space feels like a Yakitori shop in Japan. Cooks do not talk with you. They could smile a little. All orders were taken by the waitress instead.
Try it if you like it.
Finally True Robatayaki!
Donโt let the exterior fool you. We have been looking for this restaurant for decades. We even designed our own kitchen to have a bit of this vibe. Feels like you just got off the train in Tokyo on your way home and stopped for a bite at the local pub. The only thing missing are the wet umbrellas folded up in the doorway. They use bincho charcoal, which is very difficult to light, but GREAT flavor. The menu selection is excellent and the execution is even better. My favorite was the pork with shiso, which I make at home, but this was far better than anything I have made, and that is saying something. So cool to finally have this in San Diego. Bravo!
