WorldMark Kihei Reviews from The Last Year
PAY FOR WI-FI…….NO CHARGE FOR COCKROACHES!!
This is a medium-size resort property with not enough pool space. This is a WorldMark (Wyndham) time-share property. We stayed here a number of times and enjoyed the experience. However, about ten years ago, a time-share membership level restriction would NOT allow us to stay here. Now, for an “additional” fee, we were allowed to come again. Except for the location….it was NOT worth it! OUR GRIPES: If you are not at a certain membership level, you HAVE TO PAY FOR WI-FI. We found this annoying at a time when even economy motels include wi-fi. The fee may be “nominal”…but it is for only two devices and per day…..so if you have a family with many devices, it is no longer “nominal”……….then it’s like having to pay for toilet paper. There was one small (sample sized) bottle of shampoo, and one of conditioner, and NO lotion for our four-night stay. If you need more, you have to ask for it. There were two packets of coffee in the room….but you can ask for more. Some of the towels were worn out (thin and with shreds); and many with different shades of gray. We ask for replacements and those were thick, fluffy and white! There were cockroaches in the bathroom (which could be a sign of uncleanliness). We had to have them come to spray for them. They listed a “business center”, but it was a single desk-top computer with an “out of order” sign on it. Apparently, it was new, but not yet useable….and the front said there was no one available to set it up, and could not say when that might happen. There is no clock in the unit (not counting the one on the microwave). There is no “welcome” morning coffee in the front office, no complimentary bottle of water, no popcorn……. LOCATION: The World Mark Kihei is located along the Kihei coast. The travel time to Kahului (incl. airport) is a 20 minute drive; Lahaina about 30-45min; and Wailea about 15min. The walk across the main road to the beach is about 5 min. Many other beaches are within a 10 min drive. Many stores, shops and restaurants are also a few minutes away. Accommodations: It appeared that this unit was recently remodeled (and updated from our previous stays). The furnishings were nice; lighting was very adequate and bright. Our unit was a comfortable one-bed room with a king size bed. In the living room is a queen size Murphy bed; maximum accommodation is for four adults. There is a small table with two chairs for eating or writing. There is a medium sized flat screen television, awkwardly angled across the room from a small sofa (making a larger screen tv more desirable). There is also a small TV in the bedroom. All the units have a kitchen. There is a full cook top with oven, standard microwave, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and a coffee pot. Also included are cookware, dishes, eating and cooking utensils for four persons. The bathroom has a single sink and marginal counter space; nice tub and shower. Air conditioner and ceiling fan in the bedroom and living room was effective and efficient. There is a sizeable lanai with table and four chairs. AMENITIES: All units also have a washer and dryer. Electrical outlets were plentiful to accommodate electronic devices. There are gas BBQ units that work and are maintained. There is NO combination safe present…..but parking is included. POOLS AND GROUNDS: The grounds and pool areas are nice and adequately kept. There is one pool for the entire complex. On a busy day, it was crowded and noisy. The access to the ocean beach is about a five-minute walk across the road; or a few minutes’ drive to a number of other beaches in the area. STAFF: Most were friendly, helpful and welcoming.....(but not all were smiling) :( To WORLD MARK: My opinion is that this could be a wonderful place if they would make their guests feel more welcomed. World Mark needs to step up on the welcoming ladder!! Quit the “nickel and dime” attitude. I would not want to buy into this type of time share philosophy.
Nice time share near the beach
The WorldMark is in a convenient location in Kihei across from the beach and walkable to restaurants and shops. We stayed for 10 days in a one-bedroom unit. We got a recently renovated room on the third floor. We didn’t have a view, but it was quiet and peaceful. The pool and hot tub are great, but the WiFi, which you pay for, was like bad dial-up. The TVs aren’t smart tv’s, so you can’t connect to your Netflix or Hulu accounts, and they don’t rent movies. When I asked about it, the front desk person suggested I go to Walmart to pick up an HDMI cord to connect my iPad. Hopefully they will upgrade their TV’s during more renovations. Overall all, though, it was a great stay.
Overall decent stay in Kihei.
It's walkable to Kamaole I and various restaurants just south on Kihei Rd. Check in staff and laundry personnel are kind and attentive. There was plenty of parking on the facility during our stay. Pros: The room itself was newly renovated and great for the price. If you're a Worldmark member you probably already know the deal and it's on par with other Worldmark timeshares, reliable but not extravagant. The appliances like the dishwasher and washer/dryer worked as needed. AC unit was quiet as well as we kept it on during the night. Pool was large and the hot tubs were a nice to have especially after a long day at the beach. Cons: During our stay they continued to remodel several units around the facility, including the unit right above ours (or we just had incredible noisy upstairs neighbors), but there was loud footsteps and movement of furniture starting right at 7am and could be heard as late as 10pm. So regardless, you are at the mercy of any human being in the walls adjacent or above you. Lastly some of the staff here are extremely comfortable with using their keys to get into your room. I would really prefer a deadbolt or locking mechanism from the inside as we had two separate situations that arose. The first day, a staff member delivered some additional hangers to the room by knocking on the door twice and as I stood up to answer the door, he just let himself in while we were in the middle of changing. Not a big deal we thought to ourselves, we didn't want to make a fuss. On our last day however, we went out to pick up a quick breakfast at 8:30 and came back by 9am (1 hour before the 10am checkout) and came back to a cleaning bin outside of our door with our door UNLOCKED and a few inches ajar. Luckily everything was accounted for as we left a wallet, GoPro and other snorkeling equipment in the room. When we contacted the front desk, the Manager, Heath, explained that they checked their system and didn't note any other entry to the room that morning. Insinuating that we had left our door open even though we hadn't had an incident like this during our entire stay, let alone with all of our valuables in the room (their word against ours). Nothing was missing so we weren't looking for compensation of any sort; but any sort of accountability and an apology would've been nice, but I guess that's too much to ask for. So be aware of that and I would not leave anything of value inside your room or expect management to be responsible for any shortfalls.
Disappointing and dirty
We have stayed at this property many times over the years. It is getting renovated which it desperately needed. What hotels/condos/rentals need to remember is if something in the unit is not clean then the whole unit is perceived as dirty..The unit was not vacuumed well. The surfaces were not wiped down. There were dried paint drips on the kitchen counter and on the bathroom floor. There is some kind of dried adhesive on the curb of the shower. I tried to scrub it off but it won’t budge, it looks dirty. There is pencil writing on the bathroom counter, calculations from the construction crew I think. So I’m sure the bathroom counters were not cleaned properly. The towels are very bad, thin and scratchy. We went to a local discount store and bought towels (I will donate them when we leave). Since we are going to be here for three weeks we have to clean our unit and change our own sheets. This may sound petty but we’ve paid a lot to WorldMark over the years and I’m not sure I would do it again.
Except for the construction, peacefull
ground level was musty smelling Kitchen was clean and well appointed. Pool area was clean and pool was well looked after and here were many children. Too bad the corp office couldnt make effort to renovate and donate old suite kitchens and bathrooms, some with marble counter tops and double sink kitchens, to the rebuild effort in Lahaina. Made me cry to hear it was all going to land fill.
Kihei WorldMark stay - Sept/Oct
Checked into this property over a week ago with two days before checkout. It’s been two years since our family was here, and due to the Lahaina tragedy, we were torn about our visit; but after multiple calls to the Kihei WorldMark and other guest services, we were encouraged to come to help prop up their tourism/economy. This property is undergoing renovations so there were limited units available, meaning half full. Parking is limited due to all the contractor vehicles and construction materials. We stayed in a renovated 2 bedroom in building 4 (behind the pool/gym. The new hardwood floors in the living area was much more appealing, odorless, and clean. The bedrooms still had low pile carpeting. My wife was happy with the new taller toilets (with self-closing lids) that didn’t wiggle every time you sat or got up from it. Other new items: Appliances, mattresses, furniture (living room couches much more comfortable than the old ones), all living room and bedroom lamps include USB charge ports, Air conditioners that are quiet with wall control that’s functional, modern style ceiling fans, shower enclosures and fixtures. There are new aerobic machines in the gym: 2 ellipticals, 2 stationary bikes, and 4 treadmills. Looks like the dumbbells only go to 30lbs, all heavier ones are gone. Because of the Lahaina closures and reduced visitors, there was only one food truck onsite for dinners, and even then it was sometimes there or not. It’s been a pleasant and enjoyable stay so far and after all the units are renovated, this place will be busy and full.

I'd recommend clicking "Chats & Support" in the left navigation bar. From there go to "Contact Support" and explain your request.
