my favorite ramen spot in atlanta.
delicious food and quick service. it also very cozy and dark inside
Be the first to ReplyBest sushi for the prices in Atlanta.
I go at lunch time and get the sashimi bowl and the yellowtail with scallion. The service is efficient and the ambiance standard.

High quality sushi for a reasonable price, I understand why it was a 20 min wait the food is good. The place is quaint and the attached Asian market down stairs was really cool. I'm not a soup person but I tasted my husbands gyoza soup it was really good!

Decided to try Wagaya on a random Friday and I'm so glad we did! Quaint little spot so a wait may occur but it moved relatively fast for a Friday evening. My party of two was seated after a brief fifteen minute wait. The first thing that caught my eye was their amazing dinner plate deals. I mean, where else in Atlanta can you get two sushi rolls AND ramen for $25? It was such a steal. Sure, their rolls were the basic rolls but it definitely helped satisfy my ramen and sushi craving. I'm definitely coming back to check out their specialty rolls though!

Does not accommodate allergies! I told the server I had a shellfish allergy and she told me they don't have clean counters, knives, or pans. Also mentioned how the shellfish is kept touching the other foods. When asking if they could clean a surface for a vegetarian dish (that should have no crossing with any meat/fish) they refused. When I asked which foods are safe to eat without contamination, she couldn't tell me a single item with certainty/confidence. I was told "well there's this one salad but we use the same serving spoons." And "I don't feel like calling an ambulance tonight." After this whole encounter I didn't feel comfortable ordering anything. If you're not going to accommodate an allergy, I suppose that's your right, but please make a note of it on your website or something so this doesn't happen.

Food was standard and good! Nothing outstanding, but I love a consistent place. Pork gyoza (8/10): juicy, flavorful, wish they had a bit more of a crunch at the bottom! Takoyaki (7/10): octopus chunk was small inside, but good nonetheless! Yellowtail roll (10/10): loved the scallion addition to the roll, gave it a bit of extra flavor. Yellowtail was good, fresh. Spider roll (7/10): batter on the crab was a bit soggy, but very standard without too much rice in the roll. Service was okay, our waiter was not very attentive and I had to walk up to him to get the check. It wasn't really busy when we went, but they have lots of seating and can probably hold a larger party! Nice place to go if you want a quick fix of sushi near Georgia Tech at a reasonable, affordable price.

I love the location and the ambiance, but for the price, I expected Wagaya to be much better. The quality is not much different than any other regular fast-casual sushi place, but the prices made me expect a mid-tier restaurant -- not on the same level as omakase, but also not takeout quality. Unfortunately quality was closer to takeout. Especially obvious for the nigiri, where the fish quality (and the often overlooked rice!) is on full display. I would come back if a friend wanted to, but I would certainly stick to the rolls over the sashimi/nigiri (I think this is where I went wrong!) The katsu curry we had was also meh -- chicken was good, but the curry was just...plain brown sauce. No hate to Golden Curry cubes (if that's what this was!) but I like when there are potatoes, onion, or carrot added for more substance (which distinguishes a sauce from a curry, imo!) I heard the ramen was great, so maybe go for that. Service felt rushed, which I understand -- it's a small place, but we were asked numerous times if we were ready to order before one of our other members (who was just parking, not late!) had even sat down. On the plus side, food came out very quick for those who arrive hungry. TLDR - prefer Nagomiya (by the same group) over Wagaya. Quality and service style is better -- maybe a touch more expensive -- but worth it in terms of experience. Wagaya seems to be at this odd inflection point of not quite being a fast casual bar, not quite being a mid-tier restaurant -- and it just didn't work for what I ordered and expected! As always, ymmv!

Go to spot for some good sushi or ramen! Casual dining with good service, reasonable pricing, and quality food. Be sure to check out the market downstairs!
Be the first to ReplyI don't know what the hype is.
Everything is mediocre. Server forgot and brought miso soup out after we were done with entrees. Not going back.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is the best! Huge fan of how fresh everything is.
One of our faves. Oh--kids menu is great too.
Be the first to ReplyWagaya has always been one of my go to favorite spots.
They are parking in the back or you can park along the street and they serve lunch and dinner.I usually always go there for dinner, but today I decided to go there for lunch and I was very happy with my choice. I got the traditional lunch set, which comes with miso soup, California roll, tempura (shrimp, Japanese y-am and pumpkin), and teriyaki salmon with rice. (you can also choose teriyaki chicken).I'm always full when I finish my meal. I also can say they have an impressive drink, selection of imported beers and other beverages as well. The one thing I also really like about this location is the store underneath I quickly also got supplies of chinese cooking, furikake and wakame.Definitely check out this place if you haven't already .
Be the first to ReplyLoved the quiet, relaxed ambiance.
Service was quick and friendly. Limited Gluten free options are available (including sashimi with gluten-free soy sauce), however all sushi rolls are not gluten free. Sashimi was fresh and delicious, the salmon melts in your mouth like butter. Will definitely be back.
Be the first to Replysimple sushi spot! quality sushi that won't break the bank.

The ramen is a great deal and delicious. The servers and vibe are great and the grocery store below is a great place for desert after dinner. Highly recomend!

Delish!!!! Had the chicken katsu curry and the pork dumplings / potstickers. Everything was fresh and had amazing flavor. I came in to get some food to-go , the staff was very friendly and happy to go over any of the menu items i had questions about , as well as make some great suggestions. Everything came packed perfect, hot and did not take long. They also have a grocery store below , I was in a hurry so did not get a chance to check it out. Will def go next time i visit.
Be the first to ReplyHard No For Delivery.
Been to in-person dining several times and it's great. Delivery is another story. They don't know how to pack, cold on the bottom hot on top.... They do it in reverse, so your "sushi", sashimi, nigiri, etc arrive COOKED. They fill their Udon and Ramen with Sweet Potatoes and Hush Puppies, and Cabbage. They don't do this in-house. Will eat in person but never order again. Tried ordering 3 times, 2 out of 3 they sent ramen and udon with NO NOODLES. It's silly, sad even.

Be the first to ReplyThe food was good.
It's very small inside and hardly any space to wait inside, so it's best to call ahead for reservations. The hostess when we visited wasn't very hostessy (no smile, let me know she was about to give our table away, even though we were there in time), but our server was great. Sorry no pics!

Be the first to ReplyThis is our favorite ramen place in town.
It's small and cozy, the food comes out fast every time, and the broth is incredible. We love the grocery store downstairs too!

Cool spot! Love Wagaya's vibe as it's more casual but very nice, with great food & decent prices. I tried the green apple sour drink, which was really interesting! I haven't had a drink like that before and it was really refreshing. I then got the green typhoon and the spicy crunchy shrimp roll, both were good, just wish they were a tad bigger! They felt like mini rolls, but overall this place was great and I'll definitely return. My favorite part had to be parking, as there was plenty right behind the restaurant
Be the first to ReplyThey were very accommodating.
However, ramen tasted like packaged ramen that I made from high school. Mackerel too salty, and matcha ice cream was too dry :(

Clean. Nice atmosphere. The ramen, onigiri, and sushi were all great. We come here every time we come through Atlanta.
Be the first to ReplyWe were in the mood for Asian food so we decided to stop in.
I loved the decor of the place, the wooden and tables and chairs were a nice touch. We ordered the four seasons roll, chuka dinner set with black garlic tonkatsu ramen and the traditional dinner set with chicken teriyaki. The roll was delicious - no complaints and would recommend.Loved the variety that the dinner sets offered! Everything was delicious and to be expected. The only issue I had with the chuka dinner was the karaage that came on the side - it was too salty for my taste. The side of rice helped with that though.Overall, I'd recommend this spot! There's likely something for everyone.
Be the first to ReplyCurry rice w/ pork cutlet: pretty crispy and big portion.
The plating could be cleaner but the taste is pretty good. Especially good for a hungry student to enjoy under $20 as the portion was HUGE!Matcha cheesecake: I would say it's ok. It's just a standard cheesecake and I wish there would be more matcha powder on there to contrast the sweetness.Tofu avocado salad: Decent salad. The dressing is Kewpie's Sesame Dressing with sweet and sour hint in it so you could totally make it at home. Nothing special.Hokke (grilled mackerel): This thing is pretty fresh and tender. Something worth trying but it's just ok.Overall: definitely a place where students can come and grab a quick meal but I would come here for a special occasion. Shoya in Doraville is way better.
