Vernick Fish Philadelphia Reviews from The Last Year
beautifully decorated restaurant on the first floor of four
beautifully decorated restaurant on the first floor of four seasons! the food here is solid. we ordered a couple appetizers to start, and my favorite was the hiramasa tatare which went perfectly with the potato chips. the salmon crudo was mid, i would not order it again. for my main, i had the swordfish milanese sandwich which was absolutely delicious and filling. i was pleasantly surprised by the size, it definitely could have been two meals. my friends ordered the branzino and the yellowfin tuna rice bowl which they enjoyed (though the portion size wasn't as large). all the seafood tasted quite fresh! one thing to keep in mind is that in the summer, this restaurant is absolutely freezing. i got there early and had to ask my friend who was running late to grab me one of her jackets because i was so cold i had goosebumps. definitely bring a jacket! service was alright, but we were celebrating a birthday, and there were some discrepancies between what we were told over the phone vs what were told in person. this restaurant is definitely quite expensive, and for the price, i would have expected more overall. the food is good, but not particularly exciting. i think there are more affordable places with food just as delicious.

My husband and I have eaten at Vernick Fish a couple of times. The first time, I thought it was a little pricy but decent. My husband and I returned on June 22 to celebrate my husband's birthday, which was the following day. I had the scallops and became violently ill with presumed food poisoning about 10 hours after the meal. I was so sick on my husband's birthday that the day was ruined for us. I called to inform the restaurant, and really did not get any satisfaction from that interaction. I will not be eating at Vernick Fish again. If we drop $300 for dinner, the minimum we expect is not to get food poisoning from the meal.
Excellent for seafood lovers.
Their fish was very fresh, high quality, very delicious. The service was beyond excellent. The venue was high ceiling, very contemporary, open kitchen, lots of tall fresh orchids and flowers, fancy at the Four Seasons, very pretty. I was shocked that their kids menu was very tasty as well. They use Le Must Classic chef ketchup, very luxurious like everything else. The whole dining experience was spectacular.
This was probably the best dining experience I've had in
This was probably the best dining experience I've had in Philly for quite some time. The food was fantastic, drinks were on point and the people that work there are top notch. We had an issue with one dish and the took it very seriously, got the manager involved, refunded it. Just one slip, well recovered. They have better seafood than any restaurant I've had in the US to date.
Food was good, service was great.
Would get 5 stars but the food was not quite amazing enough to justify the price. Granted only one experience so could have been better with another dish,
Deliciously prepared courses to make your mouth water.
Wonderful drink and beer options in an airy yet comfortable setting.
Vernick Fish is my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia.
The restaurant has wonderful birds- eye views of the city and the atmosphere has a modern yet upscale feel. We went in without a reservation on a weeknight and were able to be seated at the bar relatively quickly. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. The swordfish katsu was one of the most unique and delicious seafood dishes I have ever had. The scallops were also amazing with a great sear on them. I would highly recommend dining at this place. It's great for celebrating a special occasion!
If only I could give this place 10 stars, I certainly would!!
Made online reservations after reading about this restaurant. Advised them that this was our anniversary dinner and of the various dietary restrictions my wife has. Our server, Erica, greeted us with champagne, wished us a very happy anniversary and proceeded to lead us on a fantastic journey in our dining experience. If I could I would give this place 10 stars, since the service the atmosphere and the dining experience was absolutely amazing!!!

I stopped by after work with some colleagues just for a drink after trying to go to JG sky high upstairs which was really busy. We snagged a comfy couch and chairs right when it opened, and ordered delicious cocktails. Everything we got was refreshing, bright and flavorful! Our server was great and I loved the atmosphere. I'd definitely come back again!
Save your money and go for a cheesesteak
Friends who live in Philadelphia told us that this was their favorite restaurant. They must’ve been pulling my leg. The portion of halibut was small, the swordfish tasted like it was deep-fried, and was the thinnest cut of swordfish I have ever had and the prices were not cheap. The space however, is very attractive and there is a nice buzz. One thing is for sure, I will not be returning.
Located inside the Four Seasons Hotel you can always expect
Located inside the Four Seasons Hotel you can always expect to have an elegant evening. While the service is always polished & knowledgable compared to its sister restaurant Vernick Food & Drink it is less warm & inviting. The food is well prepared & flavorful but some dishes did fall a little short this trip. Also to be of note is the fact that this is one of the more expensive restaurants in the area.

I was so ready not to like Vernick Fish, especially after experiencing the gaudiness of JG. However, my expectations were far surpassed. The service was friendly, the seating area was beautiful but simple, and the food was excellent. The only dish that was just okay was the panko crusted swordfish. Everything else was great: oysters, crispy octopus, salmon crudo, scallops, and dessert. I would love to come back to try lunch service.

I've had several pleasant experiences at Vernick Fish! The food is always amazing - in particular I think the crudely and ceviches are top notch. At my most recent visit, my husband and I sat at the bar and had a fantastic bartender. Our bill was pricy but that's to be expected when dining at the bottom of the 4 Seasons.
Best restaurant in Philly.
We dine out a lot. The service was impeccable. The bar tenders were amazing. The drinks were tasty and strong. The best cosmo I ever had? Not sure what was different. The flavor profiles were exquisite. We had the red snapper with collard greens. Who would have ever thought saffron and coconut milk in collard greens?? It was absolutely delicious! We also had the blackened shrimp, crab fried rice and chocolate silk pie for dessert. We will definitely return!

i had a long standing reservation (2 months) for a co-workers retirement & they just called to tell us theycan't keep now to accomodate a larger party. never going here ever & I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who actually expects a restaurant to honor a reservation. the person who called wasn't even apologetic.

Our server was one of the best I've ever had (I'm blanking on her name but she has been in the restaurant industry for 20 years and her father is a pastry chef). She made sue our experience was exceptional and the food was perfect. We really enjoyed the ceviche and (oh another dish that has raw fish but isn't called ceviche...). Food was delicious. Ambiance --ok.
Unaccommodating and rude staff
Staff and manager are very unaccommodating and rude. We were coming here for our anniversary dinner — I got pulled over on the way and it caused us to be running late. The reservation was for 5:45 PM. I called the restaurant and let them know that we were running late and trying to find parking at 5:55 PM. I didn’t have time to call earlier as I was dealing with being pulled over. I let them know I was finding parking, why I was late, and that I’d be in there shortly. The person on the phone advised that it was okay. The restaurant has a 15-minute grace period, meaning we would be okay until 6 PM. We ended up walking in at 6:03 PM and went to the front desk to check in for our table. They told us they can’t seat us at our reserved table because we were past the 15-minute grace period and that we’d have to sit at the bar or counter in front of the kitchen. What’s crazy is that I went out of my way to over communicate with them that I was going to be late and they assured me it was fine, only to show up at the restaurant and be denied our table. I reminded them of the call we had just a few minutes ago and the situation that caused me to be late. There were 4 staff and a manger at the host stand for this, and all of them just gave me a snark look when I said this, didn’t reply with anything, and just said they can offer us the counter seat. The restaurant was 75% unoccupied at this time and no one was waiting for a table. I understand that the restaurant has policies and wants to follow them, but refusing to seat us at our table after everything I went through that night, having an almost completely empty restaurant, taking all possible steps to communicate with them prior to my arrival, telling me it was okay on the phone, AND the restaurant knowing that we were repeat customers and it was our special anniversary dinner… it’s a disgrace. Something funny worth noting — we ended up sitting at the counter seat and only got 1 or 2 things and left all within an hour, and as we were walking out, the restaurant was still more than 50% unoccupied. Simple deduction skills show that we wouldn’t have interrupted any of their later reservations with the timeline we were operating with. We ended up going somewhere else after to get a full meal. Also, I thought it was funny that when we walked in the first front door, the manager looked me up and down through the window with a nasty judgmental look, for I assume what I was wearing? Mind you, I have worn nearly this same exact outfit to places such as Morimoto, Jean-Georges, Barclay Prime, Volvér, etc. with no one even batting an eye or making me feel uncomfortable. Meanwhile, the wait staff at Vernick Fish wears jeans? Comical. It is clear that Vernick Fish staff and management are petty and don’t care about the customer. I hope the literal 3 minutes you saved by not seating us at our table was worth losing thousands of dollars of repeat business. I was shocked to receive this kind of experience at a Four Seasons establishment. If you care about your experience and how a restaurant treats you, avoid this place. Either that, or just make sure that any life situations that are out of your control don’t occur when you have a reservation with them :)

This was the top meal I've had thus far in 2024.
For starters, the ambience was sexy and trendy, without being over the top. The music selection and lighting were a perfect backdrop to dinner. My server, Corey, was patience and offered excellent recommendations. It's always a positive when your server is excited about the food he's presenting. The food: AMAZING. Scallops were divine. Meaty, sweet, with the perfect crust. The broiled oysters were a flavor bomb. 6 was just right, but I could've had a dozen more. The jerk marinated red snapper entree was absolutely delectable. Salty, crispy, spice, and umami all in one dish. The smoked Hollandaise and truffle combined with the fingerling Potatoes was heavenly. The South Hampton iced tea was one of the most unique cocktails I've ever tasted. Even the dessert, dark chocolate sorbet, was decadent and rich in flavor. Needless to say, whenever I'm in Philly, I'll be back. Hats off to the staff.
We had a reservation at the chefs counter.
The restaurant is beautiful and our server was the sweetest. As far as food, we had the crudo which was very tasty. The sardines were great too. For our meal, we had the sea bass and scallops, both were good however I found them very salty. I could barely finish my entree due to the heavy salt. We did take home the citrus olive oil cake which was very good.
Valentine Celebration
We enjoyed our experience at Vernick Fish, mostly because of excellent service (Hyemin) and perfectly prepared small plates from the kitchen. The menu was specially designed for Valentine's Day, and the portions were prepared for sharing. We enjoyed the varied menu, bottle of wine and excellent conversation. Though we had made reservations many weeks prior to the 14th, we still got stuck sitting between the two service stations. If you are planning to go to Vernick Fish, try to sit in the bar area or kitchen view area. Our table was similar to being in a diner - though the service and food certainly was not.

Had a great time, Bar tender gave us all the details on their exquisite flights. 3 flights for $90, but when i tell you these are STRONG! good luck. We tried a little bit of everything, had some caviar and pawns for the starters. Then for the main we the snapper which was amazing! and 2 more other dishes. i forgot the name but the Snapper was the star of the night. ended up spending $532, plus $150 tip to our excellent waiter. They take care of you and give you clean utensils after every plate. I felt like the King i am. Tables were comfortable and very intimate. Will be back soon. Ciao!

I had been waiting to come here since it opened, but the pandemic made it so I had to wait even longer. But wow, this did not disappoint. I even think the food here is better than Vernick. We came here to celebrate my husband's promotion, and I had told the restaurant about this beforehand and they greeted us with some champagne to start! Their drinks were really good and strong. We ordered martinis to go with our oysters to start. The pasta appetizer special we got was absolutely delicious and my fish dish was so good and fresh! The vegetable sides of mushrooms and potatoes we got were also great!

We had a very special birthday lunch here - so disappointed- since the pandemic I try not to leave bad reviews but I just spent more than 150 on a poor quality meal for 2 - lunchtime not dinner and left hungry - the service was especially bad - we went elsewhere for a dessert and coffee- not worth the time or money.
You must get the Oysters!
Excellent Oysters! I also recommend the scallops. Excellent customer service. I plan to come back and try more menu items.
Elegant Restaurant with Superb Fish
I had a superb experience at Vernick Fish, it ticked all boxes. The restaurant, long, skinny & lined on one side with windows, has a very elegant, contemporary design, its immaculate, open kitchen showcasing the chefs at work. I came for lunch & the menu was fairly concise (which I like). It offers an array of oysters, a raw bar & a handful of main dishes. Food was superb - ultra fresh & zinging with flavour. Don’t miss the shrimps in horseradish from the raw bar. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. Really good choice in Philly.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
