During our stay we tried to find some nice places and saw great reviews on Tripadvisor which gave us high expectations for this restaurant . The start was good with a big smile, nice atmosphere and the waiter made sure we had a glass of champagne. But from there we where disappointed. I ate my first half of the meal with nothing in my glass. We where never presented with a wine list. And at the standard the restaurant apparently holds I would expect to not have to ask about getting more to drink. Suggesting a wine package for our 3 course meal would have been a good idea. But unfortunately nothing like this was natural for the staff to suggest. With the main course we where given the option to order a glass of wine. We did not get to choose what wine, and when the wine came we did not get the option to taste or get a presentation of the wine. Which I also expect from such a restaurant. Very disappointing! With the dessert we got the opportunity to order coffee, and I asked for sweet wine. Both of these came after we had half our final meal. I usually start eating my ice cream straight away. My sweet wine was served in a champagne glass, which I have never experienced before. And when we started talking about the choice of glass the waiter came back to condescendingly explain how much was considered a glass of sweet wine. The food was ok, but lacked flavour and finesse. But again very poorly presented. when you try to keep a certain level this should be included. We did not feel very welcome and a little overlooked. And the final surprise was the “gedeck”-fee. When we asked what it was, we where told it was very common and covered bread and so on. When we replied that we didn’t receive any bread, or had paid such a feed anywhere else the waiter rolled his eyes and said the fee probably wasn’t common in our country, and not in cafe’s and bistro’s, but in fine dining restaurants . We tried again to ask what it covered, and when he couldn’t answer he removed the fee from our bill. If we had received bread, good service or any other extras I would not made a deal out of it. I know what a fine dining restaurant should be capable of delivering. I usually say that you can get far with a smile, but in this case I will say it does not help when it feels fake, and when you are not genuine about taking care of your guests. And specially when you talk condescending to your guests, we left disappointed.
