Vander Urbani Resort Ljubljana Reviews from The Last Year
Bad start, best ever finish.
We had a 'Comfort' room. The bed was indeed very comfortable but could only be accessed from one side. The tiny room had a small bathroom with only a curtain for privacy and glass toilet walls. Weird! Clean room but sour milk left in fridge. I suggest any couple will realy need one of the larger, more expensive rooms. Breafast was excellent. The reception on arrival was very poor indeed but the situation was rescued completely by the Australian lady at breakfast, her lady assistant and the new manager Juryj. He went above and beyond by taking us all the way to the Sixt care hire depot at the train station. He even carried most of our luggage for more than 800m. First class service which was such a contrast to our first impressions. Thank you, we will always be grateful as I am not sure we could have done it alone.
Good Stay in Lively Ljubljana
The Vander Urbani is in a great location along the river. Right outside are tons of restaurants. Our room was nice and breakfast was good. There is a small swimming pool on the roof. And also a free shuttle service to your car which has to be parked a few blocks away.
A Fortuitous Choice
Picking a hotel on-line is always a risk. In this case, we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The hotel is centrally-located on the river in Old Town and we had a magnificent room over--looking the river and the activity along the river walk. We did not speak the language and needed to rely on hotel staff to take care of logistics. They were patient and very very helpful connecting us with transportation and other services. The restaurant is separate and yet they provide breakfast as well as wonderful options for dining inside and out. Their staff is first class. We were excited about spending a week in Slovenia and the hotel staff made a huge contribution to making it a wonderful experience.
A lovely place to stay in a beguiling low key city
Lovely location right in the action. Accommodating staff made up a breakfast package as we had to leave early. Room was clean and funky, but unfortunately we didn't use the pool as it was too cold. (Only pool visible from the Castle!) We would go again
Must do City break.
Wow what an amazing hotel in the best location in the city, you will not be disappointed. The staff were so friendly, helpful, professional and very knowledgeable. Special mention to Kirill who is so knowledgeable about food and drink especially the local wine, his service levels could match the best at any of the top hotels in the world.
Really lovely hotel right in the centre of Old Town on the main strip next to the river and cafes
Really lovely hotel right in the centre of Old Town on the main strip next to the river and all the cafes (and nice shops on the street behind the hotel). Couldn't have asked for a better hotel! There is a bit of noise from the cafes/bars in the evening, but this doesn't go on until late so was not an issue for us. Really good-sized room, very comfy bed and average sized bathroom. The bathroom has a large glass door to the bedroom but there is a curtain which ensures some privacy - I read some other reviews about this and although this is a bit different to most hotels, this didn't bother us enough for it to be an issue. The shower itself was great! Check-in was really easy and the team were always very helpful. Breakfast was also really good (from 8am-11am) - plenty of food and drink options provided including a choice of to A la Carte items - and the staff were friendly. We didn't eat in the restaurant for lunch or dinner, but enjoyed drinks each evening in the hotel bar which has tables out the front/side, which was lovely especially in this hot weather - really nice waiters who were happy to recommend the local wines. I would definitely stay here again! Only a few minor issues: - General lack of toiletires which you would usually expect in a posh hotel - Pillows are a bit soft - Main table in our room had marks which had damaged the table, so it looks a bit shabby
Noisy, mostly unfriendly and past its best.
Picked this hotel as the restaurant was highly rated, its location is perfect,; right on the river in the small historic centre, between all the eateries and bars, it also said it had a bar and roof terrace. Understandably, the roof terrace was closed for the winter, but the bar was also closed. Being above a restaurant with outside seating, it was noisy, but one could forgive that for location. But not the early morning wake up at 07:00 with the restaurant music on full blast and the housekeeping staff, talking and banging around. Hello!!! People we are on holiday. Well! Here I explain why only two stars: This hotel was billed as a 4 star. I had just left a fabulous 4 star in Trieste with concierge parking & baggage and a great suite of rooms, for not much more than this place. The chap who 'welcomed' me was so unfriendly, hardly looked at me, and was more interested in his colleagues. Its a 'design' hotel and in the early 2000s it was probably a brilliant place but, the carpets are all stained, everywhere, when they could use the same lino as on the reception area and improve it right away. The bedroom carpet was horrid. There were marks on the pillow case. The leather seats were torn and worn, and the sink unit and tables needed totally refreshing. Total lack of any care and maintenance. The bed was OK, but pillows passed their best. Now!!!! Here we come to 'the doossie'. The loo is in full sight of the room. The glass doesn't haze out. You are there on the loo doing your business for your companion to see, hear & smell. This is rubbish design. Thankfully, I was there on my own, as I don't want to share in anyone's evacuations. I went for the most unwelcome, welcome drink ever. I asked for a G&T and was told by the very very grumpy woman that, 'it is white wine, red wine, beer or a soft drink', no hello, welcome etc as it was a 'WELCOME!! ' drink. I wish I hadn't bothered. It was so bad, her attitude so poor I asked if she had a bad day....anyone else would know that this is a subtle way of saying, 'hey!! I am on my holiday, shake it off', but she launched into telling me how bad her day was. I still wanted the G&T to be repeatedly reminded I would have to pay for it. No problem, but I took my glass of red wine just because they had peeved me off so much. The restaurant food was very good, but whilst the food was hot the service was very cold. I had specifically asked for a late booking 21:00 and was told the restaurant stopped serving at 21:45. No problem and we were not slow. However the waiting staff assumed we were both English speakers started complaining that we were there and they couldnt close up, with one saying, "I wouldn't have even served them", well I booked in my hotel reservation!!! Particularly the one female staff member that served me the welcome drink, was angry, discourteous and both were talking about there guests. If a restaurant serves until 21:45 and they are paid to serve until then, do your job with grace and don't be rude to the people that keep your business open. The breakfast staff were much more helpful and happy. I would not recommend this place at all. Who ever owns it are just milking it, no investment, no maintenance and no care. Even on check out the guy hardly looked at me, talked to me and a smile would have cracked his face. Very bad representation of Slovenia as all the other hotels I visited were the exact opposite.
Great
Great location, clean, good restaurant, nice employes. Rooms are nicly furnished, walk in shower. There is a mini bar in the room and caffe, tea. At the top floor there us a pool. Check out is possible even at 13 o clock. In the evening you can sit outside and just observe the city life.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
