Authentic Turkish/Mediterranean food in Los Altos.
Wonderful family owned and run small restaurant with large outdoor seating venue. Food is excellent, well prepared with friendly servers. Local "go to" restaurant when we want delicious food in a friendly atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyAdequate place for lunch outside
I had the cup of gazpacho special and the appetizer spanakopita. The soup could have been more flavorful, perhaps with more Sherry vinegar and a touch of cumin. The tomatoes aren’t at their peak yet so it was a bit bland. The chopped avocado was a nice touch. The spanakopita came with a small salad on the side. It wasn’t the usual spinach wedge but 4 pastry triangles with the filling inside, so there was much more dough than filling. I was given 2 menus, the daily and regular ones. Neither had any alcoholic drinks so I assumed they didn’t have a license. I would have preferred a glass of white wine and didn’t know they had wine until a waiter at another table offered it. Otherwise the service was attentive. I received the cold soup first and was served the second dish once I was finished.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for Middle East cuisine
A great place for lunch. Cost neighbourhood and sitting outdoor with shade was great. It is a Turkish restaurant serving varieties of wrap, kebabs, hummus and falafel. Uniquely I ordered the seafood paella today as it is their day special. The uniqueness of this paella comes with some level of spiciness. This is further enhancing the appetite to eat more. Enjoyable homemade ginger ale and very friendly service. However, the phone signal reception in this area is really bad!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent and Mediocre, all at the Same Time
Wine gets a five star, two of the specials as well. I ordered two items from the appetizer menu which would both have gotten 3 stars at best. First was the crab cakes recommended by the waitress. Tasted like bread crumbs with a tiny bit crab in them, pretty much undistinguishable. Second was a carrot and ginger soup which tasted more like chicken broth (although it was thick and creamy) than either carrots or ginger. Have made both dishes much tastier in my own home.
Be the first to ReplyOvercooked lamb shish kabob
Sat outside on one of the last warm nights, which was pleasant. Dinner was not. I ordered lamb shish kabob, which came completely overcooked, tasteless, and somewhat burnt. The side order of rice was ice-cold and nasty, and other vegetables uncooked or over-microwaved. Did not eat any of it. This is in contrast to many other meals - even the same lamb dishes - I have experienced here previously. Something is seriously off-kilter here. The order took around 60 minutes from ordering to our table. It was disappointing, to say the least.

The food was perfect and clearly prepared with care and skill. Family operation and loved the stuffed eggplant. Also enjoyed the Turkish white wine.

Called ahead, food was ready on time. I was in and out in under a minute. Not crowded, easy to maintain distance. Staff was masked and seemed well prepared for the new reality.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service
First of all, let me just say if there is zero or negative star for this restaurant, I would give this for their service.
I walked in at 5:30 for dinner, ordered, and food took a while to come at 6:00pm. At 6:10pm, I finished my appetizer and the manager(?) came and told me to leave in 20 mins because someone booked the table. At that point, the rest of the food has not come yet. And there were also a lot of empty tables at the restaurant.
I told him that doesn't make sense because you have many tables, and that he should have let me know when I came in. He gave me a temper. I didn't wanna argue with him so I just asked him to give me the cheque, and cancelled the rest of the food.
I took some pictures of the restaurant becase i just wanted to prove how empty it was when he asked me to leave for my review. He took away my food immediately, and said I cannot take pictures.
I cannot believe he works in a restaurant. I feel sorry for the restaurant if this is the manager, because if the manager is like that, you can imagine the rest.
There are easy solutions he could have done but he did none of that
1.) apologize for not telling me in advance
2.) offer to move me to another empty table
Instead, he asked me to leave when the remaining food hasn't even came yet. Ridiculous!
urfa bistro - Mediterranean Restaurant Excellent Dinner
My son his wife preferred Mediterranean food and took me, my wife and grandson to ‘urfa bistro - Mediterranean Restaurant’ on 2nd August 2019 particularly for Mediterranean dishes.

Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
We were delighted when we held a wedding rehearsal dinner for 40 in Urfa Bistro's back patio in early June. The food was tasty, authentic,Turkish/Armenian/Kurdish, made from fresh and accompanied with wines and beer from the region. (My dad emigrated to the U.S. from Aintab, a village in southern Turkey located close the crossroads city of Urfa, so I grew up on this cuisine. ) And the service was impeccable.
Unlike the Greek and Persian tradition, this cuisine is is made without garlic so the delicate spicing is highlighted. We had a sampling of their appetizers; their version of Greek spanakopita was a bit hit with our guests, as well as their home-made hummis which simply melted in one's mouth. For entrees, we had shish-kebab, grilled salmon, and their version of Greek moussaka, perfectly cooked and artfully presented. Dessert included their version of Greek baklava, made with honey and ground pistachios, and a vanilla bean gelato which reminded me of the best gelato we have in Italy.
We highly recommend Urfa.
Delicious dinner
This place won’t disappoint you. Meal is delicious...staff are very pleasant. Dessert was to die for...yummy poached pear 🍐
Be the first to ReplyI Like IT!!!
I really like this local Los Altos Restaurant. The Service was friendly and efficient. I like it when the Wait Team actually checks in on a timely basis, which is rare. They also make eye contact. WoW that's a wild concept!!!
Someone that really cares!!!! Food was lovely! I had a special, that really hit the spot!!
Neighborhood find
We have been to this restaurant several times as it's a good halfway point to meet family members. The most recent visit on 5/22/19 was even more enjoyable. The food was tastier than previous visits, the service pleasant without being overbearing, and best of all the foam like acoustical baffles on the ceiling reduced the noise and made conversation more pleasant.
