Truluck's Ocean's Finest Seafood and Crab The Woodlands Reviews from The Last Year
Great Experience!
I decided to take my wife for our 15th anniversary in April of 2024. I made reservations online noting it was going to be our anniversary and from the time we walked in, everyone wished us a happy anniversary. Our food was excellent, and our waitress Britanny was very attentive and super sweet. At the end of our meal, we were treated to a baked Alaska which was a nice touch. We will definitely be back for another special occasion. Thank you again for a truly special occasion we will never forget!

Came here for a late Valentine's day dinner with no reservations, but luckily was able to grab a table in the bar area. Low light + piano player = my favessss. However....service was lacking. :'( For a fine dining restaurant, I was severely disappointed. Our server was nowhere to be found when we needed her when ordering food, drinks, dessert, paying.... maybe she had too many tables. We ordered: - bread service - I love bread, but this used to be free. it's no longer free sadly -calamari - sOoO goood. perfectly breaded and flavored -steak - also v good, but it's supposed to be good lol -mashed potatoes -creamed spinach -miso-glazed seabass - this was just ok, not sure I'd get it again -voila -some old fashioned I can't recall the name -carrot cake - everyone raved about this and came highly recommended, but this was a huge miss for me... it was way too sweet and decadent for me. we didn't finish this :'( -espresso martinis - SOOOO good, but also sooo strong. paired so well with the cake def a vibe for special occasions!

This is my favorite restaurant!! I never thought to write a review because I've never looked it up on Yelp. I have frequented TruLucks since the early '90's while going to Rockets games at the Summit. We would always love their fresh seafood. The one in the Woodlands is amazing. The atmosphere is great and ALL the food is top notch. Their seafood is unbelievable but their steaks can't be beaten either. Wine list is extensive. Well done all the way around!!
Your can't beat the seafood, the service and the Baked
Your can't beat the seafood, the service and the Baked Alaskan for desert. The ambiance is wonderful too.
What was once a fab seafood restaurant is now a sad
What was once a fab seafood restaurant is now a sad reflection of glory days when they were the only game in The Woodland. Almost an hour wait for one entree with their, once acclaimed crab fried rice. Good oysters and thoughtful bar service only saved this place from being a total disaster. Poor kitchen management and no attention to seasoning or timely delivery of entrees is sinking this once great restaurant. Clearly there needs to be a complete change in management. Especially when the GM comes out and debates a customer about the timing and delivery of their order then admits it all was completely cold. We, in the real world, call that bullshit. If you want great seafood in The Woodlands...this is not the place. My 2 cents. Greg T.

This place is simply amazing! What can I add that hasn't been said? The seafood especially the crab cakes tasted fresh. The low light and piano player sets the perfect ambiance. But the service alone tops it all. It's by far some the best service and attention to detail that I have seen. I'm already looking forward to coming again.
They made it right
I previously posted on Open Table about a poor experience we had for our pre Valentine Day dinner. The general manager Joe Wiley reached out to me to ask us to give them another try and have dinner on them. I hesitated thinking they would just overwhelm us with kindness and surround us with waitstaff just to make amends. However we love this place and were so shocked about this experience that we said we would try them again. I was absolutely wrong. The manager on duty that night Aaron came to our table and apologized for the previous experience. The server was Mathew (I think) and he was amazing. No sucking up just pleasant, funny, knowledgeable and overall a great server. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine, shared a beautiful salad and my husband had the redfish ponchatrain and I had blue crab stuffed lobster tails. Both meals were perfectly cooked and were delicious. For dessert we had their special chocolate cherry cheesecake which melted in your mouth. Thank you to Joe to reaching out and things right. We will definitely be back.

Soo good! The ceviche is delish!! Has a great atmosphere and is very lovely. Service was prompt!
Expected better
Bread was not hot , wine was good , appetizer was good but not great and the miso glazed sea bass tasted fishy. We expected more from what was a great restaurant.

First off i have eaten at a ton of great steakhouses in houston and the USA and this is the first where i have seen led lit menus lol. I thought this was a very nice touch. The lighting was perfect. What a great idea Food: the food was top notch. The meatball appetizer was like mini meat loafs. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp has zero seasoning. I understand it's served that way. Just not my cup of tea or first choice. Now the steak, that was top notch. I am a fan of bone in steaks but their ribeye without the bone was top notch. Seasoned to perfection and very tasty. The crab fried rice was pretty good too. The key lime pie was great. Huge dessert. Could be shared amongst 4 lol. I finished it and still feel it. That was a mistake. I should have only eaten one sliver but it was so good so I kept going. I'll definitely keep coming back here. I will try the seafood next.
Great spot for special Occasions or just simple date night.
Elegant, good service and great menu!
Careless Allergen Policy
Was served an alcohol drink when I was very clear about which mocktail I wanted (even asked a question about it to my waitress). In the beginning, we were promptly seated. My date and I made sure to notify the waitress that we do not consumer alcohol. Ordered the spicy blackberry cooler which is a mocktail after confirming with the waitress that it wasn’t too spicy. After she asked me for my drink choice for another round, I had to double check with her that my drink was not alcoholic after she suggested several margarita options which made my date suspect that there was alcohol in my first drink. She was “confused” and then “checked” with the bar (after she told us that non alcoholic drinks are usually served in a tall glass and my drink was served in a short glass). 10 minutes later she comes back and notifies us that my drink was in fact an alcoholic drink. No apology, just a matter of fact tone. We asked for the manager who was as told that we “said that we wanted a margarita” when the name of the mocktail didn’t have that word in it. Odd choice to blame the customer who clearly has a food allergen… No apology or anything from either the manager or the waitress. Disappointing service and quality standards from a restaurant/company that prides itself on customer service. I’d recommend another restaurant if you have food allergies: Landry’s is not in the business of ensuring you won’t have to eat food with allergens. There are plenty of seafood options on Hughes Landing that aren’t Landry’s that will take care of you better.
Excellent Food & Service
We attended a private dinner here in Oct. We were shown to a private room, with an attached balcony overlooking the lake. Extremely relaxing, quiet, with views of the water where we enjoyed cocktails and appetizers before dinner. Our dedicated waiter was outstanding, providing attentive service both during cocktails and dinner. I was very pleased to learn they had 18 year old, McCallan, Sherry Oak, single malt scotch. Outstanding ! The McCallan went wonderfully with the jumbo shrimp, and crab cake appetizers. I had several. For dinner we both had the lobster bisque. I ordered the Sesame Seared tuna, and my wife had the New England Scallops. It was excellent seafood, just outstanding. I would highly recommend Truluck's for both the quality of their seafood and the service. Both were exceptionally good.
Nice dinner
Great Dinner We went to celebrate a birthday, food was good the place was nice , service was great! Would definitely go back
Delicious From Start to Finish
We tried this restaurant for the first time to celebrate our 41st anniversary. We had a reservation for 6:45 pm on a Tuesday night and the place was very busy. We were seated immediately, acknowledged our anniversary and brought menus. We ordered a bottle of wine and chose two large stone crabs with mustard sauce as our appetizer. They were beautifully presented on crushed ice with lemon. They were delicious and very fresh. I ordered trout almandine that was perfectly cooked. My husband enjoyed redfish ponchatrain and it too was fresh and perfectly cooked. Our server was excellent. She checked on us several times making sure we wanted for nothing. She said we would be treated to a complimentary dessert for our anniversary and we chose the baked Alaska. Let me tell you that was one delicious dessert. We ate every bite of it. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and had great ambiance. We will definitely return very soon!

I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

You should probably cancel prior to the cancellation date per the cancellation policy. I would imagine you would only get reimbursed for a sold listing if you happen to be charged?

My first sale took about a week. But as the other commenter said stay ontop of your cancellation windows. There’s no reimbursement for those so make sure you cancel in time then just try again.
