Incredible Dininh Experience
This was such a great night out. The food was amazing, and the service was outstanding. The people who work there are very cordial and strive to make your experience memorable. I have great memories of the food and people. They made us feel like family. I highly recommend this unique experience.
Be the first to ReplyA ripoff for nyona food.
The oyster omelette had rotten oysters. No reaction from the staff when we told them. The food is way too pricey and worse of all is the way they price the dishes, what is listed is a portion for 2 pax but itโs not stated until you order. Then you have to double the order and hence the dish doubles in price. I would not recommend anyone to go there! Itโs a ripoff
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful place with authentic Pernankan food
Authentic delicious Pernankan food. Excellent service from Nazran and love his recommendations Beautiful courtyard
Be the first to ReplyA total rip off, a small lohei was charged $88++ without being communicated in advance
This is my first time writing a review for a restaurant as I donโt want others to get conned by this evil restaurant. 3 of us had our annual lohei get together yesterday, and my friend preodered a small lohei thatโs not in the menu. It had some jellyfish in the middle with some pomelo and veggies at the side and when we checked our bill, it came as a shock that itโs charged at $88++. The overall foods were not special (and the chendol was even awful). You can always get a similar kind at a much cheaper price in a nicer venue. The service was bad too, the restaurant was closed at 2.30pm but we were repeatedly rushed by different waiters while we were still having our desserts.
Be the first to ReplyTotally underrated Peranakan joint
Sure itโs a tad pricey but you get what you pay for and this place is one of the better fine dining Peranakan places out there. They are always busy and service is a hit or miss occasionally but food and ambience never disappoint. Look for Nazran, heโll make sure youโre well looked after.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic food with good ambience
Amazing food, Nazran and the staff were attentive despite us being in a more isolated table. Very authentic, and its located in an emblematic area.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing service and delicious food!
A lovely dining experience indeed. Nazran attended to our every need and was very insightful about the food. The black nut was robust and earthy. The durian shaved ice packed was packed full of flavour! What a delight!
Be the first to Reply1st Peranakan Food Experience ๐๐ฝ
A great experience from appetisers to desserts Our server Nazran was excellent throughout ๐๐ฝ I really enjoyed the Durian Mouse as a first time trying for dessert ๐๐ฝ
Be the first to ReplyPeranakan Power
We were so amazed by the black nut chicken dish and the ice salad! Nazran was so helpful in explaining the dishes to us and telling us the stories behind it. We are so happy and will definitely come back again with friends !

Thanks Mr Nazran for warm and caring services and good recommendations! Great food! Nice environment! Will come back again๐ฅฐ
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambience. Average Peranakan food. Curt and rude waiter called Naz.
Great ambience. It is like going back in time to a Peranakan home. Food is average. What spoilt our meal was a very curt and rude waiter called Naz. Am never going back.
Be the first to ReplyA look at old Singapore
If you want to see and taste what Singapore was like in the 1950s (and back further), stop in at True Blue. The restaurant is in one of the older preserved buildings, step inside and I'm transported to a much earlier time. And that's what you're paying for, the cultural experience (hence the high prices). The wait staff are dressed in kebaya and there are vestiges of dรฉcor that was common so long ago. The food is delicious although there are more delicious versions elsewhere, if you know where to find them. I like to eat here after a visit to the Peranakan Museum, which is under renovation and closed until?
Be the first to ReplyThe food was very good and my Swedish friends got to try authentic food. They love the yummy food as well
as well as the ambience and deco of the restaurant and give the guests a warm welcome. Will definitely be back for more!
Be the first to ReplyStepping into a Peranakan house
The restaurant is inside a lovely shophouse, and is decorated in a way reminiscent of a traditional Nyonya house without being overly tacky. On top of that, the serving staff is mostly what locals would call "uncles" and "aunties" who were rather friendly the night we visited, and gave a feel of welcoming home dining. True to peranakan food style, the food is packed with good flavor, and plenty of heat. The chicken stew in black nuts, and the rendang beef were our highlight.
Be the first to ReplyNice place
Nice food and decor. Enjoyed the ambience and the selection of food is good. Like the oyster omelette the most.
Be the first to ReplySo much to enjoy..
We have had dinner at True Blue previous to this trip but it took a review of old holiday photos to remember the name...Glad I did ...my fiancee is Malaysian and thoroughly enjoyed the last visit - hence this one. Again, we had a fantastic time...dinner, surroundings and host were excellent..a very pleasurable experience...
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Singaporean Flavors
Best Peranakan, old styled home-cooked Singaporean cuisines in a traditional heritage building. Starters: fish cake (otak otak), prawns in chilli sambal sauce. Mains: Beef rendang, chicken buah keluak and sweet potato leaves in curry sauce. Desserts are the evergreen pulot hitam and mango purรฉe with pomelo. Bring your own wine (corkage is S$30). Total bill: S$211
Be the first to ReplyMy go to Peranakan resto
I have been coming to True Blue for over a decade now ever since I was based in Singapore. Now that I am based overseas, I still visit True Blue every time I am in Singapore. Highly recommended! True Blue always impresses my guests.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Peranakan food and ambience
Food and ambience was absolutely ๐ฏ Servers were also in Peranakan outfit which further enhanced the ambience and feel! Food was not bad but alittle on the pricey side for the portion. Overall still not a bad experience!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food in authentic surrounding
Our tourist guide recommended to us this restaurant when she was showing the city and the interior of the restaurant as an example of the local Perenakan culture. We reserved a table the next day and did not regret it. The food has some extremely taste flavors that were new and unusual to us. We actually liked the efficient service. The lady from the restaurant gave us good advice and explanations how to eat some food. She explained for example a separate spoon was given to eat the black nut from their signature dish of the restaurant - the black nut chicken. The interior is very special and creates an ambiance. We have spent an excellent evening in the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyImpatient waiters, have had better Peranakan
The restaurant team was constantly rushing us to order, finish and leave when we arrived at 8pm. The result was an extremely chaotic atmosphere and we could not enjoy the meal in peace. The food was acceptable but we have had better Peranakan. The interior is fascinating but a little claustrophobic, it felt like a heritage museum with slight hoarder inclinations.

Not sure why so many bad reviews. The food was nice and authentic. They even made it less spicy for my colleague. The recommendations for the โFish stomach curryโ was great!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
We wanted to eat authentic Peranakan food and I remember eating at True Blue 15 years ago. I recalled that it was good food, ambiance, and experience so I was hoping for the same. Our experience last week was disappointing because we felt rushed to eat and leave, as waiters started to remove the table linens and turning off the lights. Our dinner reservations was late at 8:00pm. We should have been warned by the restaurant they close at 9:30pm. We could have made appropriate plans. The food was authentic but just typical. Unfortunately, many new Peranakan restaurants in singapore have exceeded the quality and flavors of this Michelin claimed restaurant. The staff, service, ambiance and location are very good and special with the exception of the above observations.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service ... walked out
On the recommendation of the concierge at the JW Marriott South Beach, we visited this restaurant. NEVER AGAIN would i consider going to this restaurant or listening to the concierge at the JW Marriott South Beach. Arrived for a 7pm reservation - the evening dining was just beginning. We wait and wait and wait. Receive menus. We wait and wait and wait. Wait staff comes by apologises for the delay and says will be around shortly to take our order. We wait and wait and wait some more and the same wait staff walks by our table multiple times serving other tables. They finally take our order. We wait and wait and wait for another hour. Nothing. In the meantime, tables that were seated after us have received their food, finishing their food, and receiving their bill! that was the final straw. We complained, and told that a large table had come in and they needed to have their food cooked first! we wait some more, but that is it - over an hour and half later we walked out in disgust. What a waste of an evening.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the worst dining experiences Iโve ever had
This was a horrifically bad experience from start to finish. Made the mistake of booking this restaurant at recommendation of the concierge. Restaurant staff ignored us for ages in placing an order. After we finally ordered, we waited nearly an hour after watching four other tables who arrived after us get served. Finally gave up and left after seeing them bring out checks for other tables. Their excuse was they needed to cook for a big party, and would get to us a bit later. Genuinely one of the worst dining experiences ever.
