Trattoria Romana Wakefield South Kingstown Reviews
Excellent
What an unbelievable restaurant from the minute walked into the minute. I left. I felt like I was family. Everybody was welcoming. Words can’t describe how could
Salty....very salty....
We came here for dinner and our table, booked via Open Table was ready as soon as we walked in. They offered us a table inside, but we asked if we could get a table outside and they said Yes. The complementary bread was warm and delicious...it came with a nice olive oil dip. We got two glasses of the Simi Valley Cab and they were delicious and robust. Great choice for a red wine. I ordered the clam spaghetti and my husband got the Chicken Rossini. The pasta was very salty...probably the saltiest dish I have had in years...I did not send it back, I just downed two full glasses of water with my meal. My husband's chicken dish was large and good tasting, but also a bit salty...not as much as my pasta dish, but salty. It's easy to add a bit of salt to a dish, but it's really hard to take it out. Based on how salty the food was, I would not be coming back here anytime soon.
The best of the best
I discovered Trattoria a couple of years age. I enjoyed it so much it has become my favorite RI restaurant. as you come in you are well welcomed by Scott or Maureen, often both. My table is usually ready with my wine glass set and then our waitress takes our order and explains the specials. The food is of the finest quality only matched by the impeccable service. Our regular waitress, Jenna, provides the finest service and now friendship. We have also enjoyed Lisa, Jeremy and Aaron. All are the top shelf servers. I attend anywhere from 1 to 3 times a week. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys fine dining in a lovely atmosphere.
Great Food
Great food, great service. The specials change frequently. It’s a bit loud at times so conversations could be challenging. Well worth the visit. Will be back.
Wonderful again
Everything was perfect and that’s rare for me to say. Ambiance service and the food were great. I would rate this as my top three in South County
Fabulous
Went here for dinner as we were visiting nearby and we were more than happy with the experience. Our server was Lisa and she was training Althea. Lisa knew the extensive list of specials and enticed us from the moment she began. Overall the food was absolutely delicious with very large portions. We had a number of different dishes so too many to list but will say the lobster ravioli appetizer was to die for! Highly recommend.
Wonderful respite after a long day!
I'll get to the food in a minute, but can I just start with saying how nice the people are here? We had made a reservation for 8 pm yesterday, as we were driving from Boston to attend a wake in Cranston. The wake took a good deal longer than expected, so I called the restaurant to say we couldn't be there any time close to 8 pm. The gentleman said very kindly not to worry about that. We arrived shortly after 9 pm and were greeted warmly. The service was superb. It meant a lot after a trying day, so thank you, Trattoria Romana. The food? My calamari fritti and spaghetti alle vongole were excellent. The Chianti was too.
Farewell Trattoria
This hurts to write, as it used to be our favorite restaurant. 2 months ago we had a horrid experience, burnt French Onion Soup, Gritty Frutti di Mare with thin sauce— we both got sick. I reviewed this dismal episode on Open Table, but I should have learned… Last night we took friends there hoping our previous experience was out of the norm. It did not go well. The service was sporadic, the wait times for simple orders excessive, diners who arrived later than us served first. The bar drinks were good, but the waitress, a big woman, would lean way over the table to fill water glasses, place and take-away plates, etc. but still we had hope. My wife very clearly ordered a scallop dish, and we all heard her, but when the waitress brought out shrimp, which was NOT ordered, she argued with my wife over what was ordered! There was a very long wait for her proper dish to arrive. What the waitress should have done was to apologize for her mistake, and get approval to comp the dish. Meanwhile, the Prosciutto in my Vitello Sorrentino was ‘off’, foolishly I continued to eat it thinking it was part of the dish , but a night of indigestion proved otherwise. The Spinach side dish was delicious, a bright spot in a dismal night. Alas, I don’t know if I could ever bring friends here again.
Excellent food great value
Trattoria Romano never disappoints! Amazing service , great food & cocktails, modestly priced, great value!! A must visit for Italian food whenever in South County
Split personality
I ordered the Friday fish special catch of the day on a Sunday. My mistake. The fish did not taste fresh. It seemed odd to eat a $34 entree while being blasted by TV ads from a jumbo TV. Seemed like an expensive sports bar, not what I expected or liked.
