The ambiance is really homey and quaint.
I solo dined on a weekday night and it was lovely! The service was great too! The food, however, was underseasoned and not very good. I got chicken parm and I didn't like it

One of the single-handedly best Italian restaurants in the country. Incredible food and ambiance. It is family owned and operated and the brothers who own the place were wonderful to my grandfather when he lived in the area. He still comes back any time he is back in town and they still greet him like he never left. Do not have a bad thing to say about Trattoria Alberto!

Traditional old-school Italian food on the Hill Good food, impeccable service, but a little pricey. You won't find nouveau-Italian cooking here but it's solid and checks all the boxes. The wine selection is just ok, and it's served in thick-rimmed glasses that could have come straight from your grandmother's china cabinet. Better glasses would be a good start. The crème brûlée for dessert was made in advance and pulled straight from the fridge. Pretty disappointing. Ambience is nice...small intimate dining rooms with brick walls. Carpets need a good cleaning though.

Visiting DC from Phoenix, AZ and this was the first stop on our trip. Amazing pasta, some of the best I've ever had. I got the fettuccine alfredo and my wife got the penne arrabbiata, both were excellent. Also we were impressed with the portion sizes. Had a good amount of leftovers. Highly recommend this place if you want some outstanding authentic Italian food!
Be the first to ReplyReally loved this place.
From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, the service was impeccable. Our server was very friendly to our group, which included three children who'd been in the car for most of the day. She took a spilled water glass in stride and made sure we had everything we needed. When we left without one of the kids sweatshirts, they chased us outside to make sure we got it back. The food was very good overall too. I had the veal ala Boehner. It was different and delicious - 2 of 3 kids (age 10) tried some and loved it as well. All three pastas as well as the chicken piccata and the watermelon salad were excellent. Everyone enjoyed it. The atmosphere was friendly and homey - just what I'd expected. Everything was clean. It was a very hot day and a touch hot inside as well, but overall we were comfortable. Would return.

The experience for our small group from out of town was tremendous. This place was recommended to us, and the neighborhood and atmosphere were great. We chose to dine inside although the patio option was also inviting that day. I sat at the bar waiting for the rest of my party to arrive, and the barman was personable and friendly even when busy. The staff accommodated our small party without a reservation, and we sat in a prime spot in their dining room. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We sampled different desserts and loved them all, especially a cappuccino cake. There are many options for dining when visiting DC, but this place will be hard to pass on in the future.
Be the first to ReplyI can't say enough great things about this place.
My best friend has been taking me here for my birthday for the past two years and there is nothing but great service and delicious food every time. The restaurant is cute and not too far from the Navy Yard. They have a nice variety of wines, so many entrees to choose from, and desserts that make you an offer you can't refuse. Worth a visit if you enjoy Italian food and you're in the DC area.
Be the first to ReplyI am obsessed with the vibes here.
I went for a intimate date night. I had the tortellini pasta. My boyfriend had the veal piccata. We shared the garlic bread as well. For dessert, we had the creme brulee. Food was good but the service, family feel, and character of the place made it for us. We are not local to the DC area but will make this a staple when we return. Being from out of town I would give this place $$$ for price. Worth it.

The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing - everything we tasted melted in other mouths. It had a warm, comfortable atmosphere. We had a large group (14) and they efficiently and effectively managed this group. We will definitely be back again. Highly recommend!

We're traveling from Nashville and stopped here for some food since it was near the area. It was the best Italian food I have ever had. The service was great. Very friendly and welcoming. This is the most we've felt welcomed at. The ambiance was great as well. Very calm. Definitely recommending this place to everyone that's coming to the DC area. We're coming again to this place when we come back!
Be the first to ReplyHands down the best Italian food I have had in the US.
I've been to Italy several times and this was still better. Also easily the best service I have ever had in a restaurant and it's not even close. The staff here are so inviting and attentive. Please come here, you will not regret it.

Just left from a date night with my husband and cannot recommend enough!! The food (unfortunately, I didn't even take a photo because I immediately dived into myplate) was amazing! Coming from someone who has lived in Europe and been to Italy, PLEASE come here if you're craving good, authentic Italian food! The service was AMAZING! I did not catch the name of our server, but he was incredible. Very attentive service without being overbearing. It is a bit pricey but well worth it! The limoncello we ordered with our dessert was the icing on top! I truly felt like I was back in Europe the entire time I was in this establishment and I will definitely be back! Thank you to all the service workers at this restaurant, y'all did an amazing job and deserve ALL the praise!
Be the first to ReplyRead about this place in John Boehner's book, "On The House.
" He described the atmosphere as a local hole in the wall style place with good Italian food. He was right! I ordered the calamari and veal a La Boehner! Both were great!

Best Italian food I've ever had! So sad we found this our last night in that area. My husband loved the lasagna he got and I got the tortellini and it was fabulous! Pineapple martini was great as well.
Be the first to ReplyTrattoria Alberto was recommend by friends who have lived
Trattoria Alberto was recommend by friends who have lived on the Hill for over 3 decades. We met for dinner and enjoyed a meal together. They recommended the Avocado salad to start. It was delicious. The avocado was pleasantly soft and ripe. The dressing wasn't over bearing and just the right amount. What a nice start to a meal. The menu is extensive - I wasn't sure if I should I order pasta or a protein that's served with pasta. I decided on Chicken piccata with gluten free pasta. They offer gluten free variations and vegetarian dishes. The chicken piccata was cooked perfectly. The only issue was the side of pasta. It wasn't served with gluten free pasta. However, the server quickly noticed and replaced it. I didn't have to ask. He knew and fixed it. The service it great at Trattoria Alberto and so is their at home feeling when dining. It's not rushed.

Great pasta, pricey wine, but if you're looking for a solid Italian place in Eastern Market, this is it!
Be the first to ReplyOne of our favorite restaurants in DC.
Absolutely amazing food and the very best service. We love visiting and our nights at Trattoria. We recommend the avocado salad, lasagna, clams linguine, and chicken parmigiana. They make a great pomegranate martini and always have specials like rack of lamb or filet. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and definitely get dessert! Our favorite is the pistachio gelato. Enjoy!

The most welcoming restaurant I've ever been to. I will definitely return.

I recommend eating here they have good food and great service there pasta is something you should really try want wanna miss out
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely a must for anyone in the Capitol Hill area.
When I went to visit, I sat at the bar but there is a bunch of seating in the restaurant for couples, families, and even private events. I love the ambiance inside, it's dim lit with exposed brick which gives off a great vibe for a first date. They have a great wine selection and the owner is actually there to give recommendations as he works behind the bar. I have to try more food there, but the Veal Parmigiana was yummy and comes with a side of spaghetti.
