Dull and Outdated Cooking.
The beautiful decor has faded a bit and could use some work. The atmosphere is friendly and the service courteous. Time has passed but unfortunately no culinary evolution. As a result, the sauces are cafeteria-style! are often the same for different dishes (lamb and pork). The cooking of scallops is overdone and the lobster is sorely missing from the menu. 80€/person without wine seems exaggerated to me. This wouldn't be the case if the kitchen was more modern.
Be the first to ReplyExciting and delicious
The negative reviews encouraged us to try the restaurant, especially since the menu really appealed to us. From the greeting to the farewell, we were treated very friendly and courteously. We enjoyed the excellent food, from the wonderful drink to the starter (Vegi Spring Rolls/Sesame Tofu Rolls), to the first course (AvoMango Shrimp Salad), to the main course (Tiger Prawns with Wok Vegetables) to the dessert (Pina Cocos Cocktail), in an exciting location and composition. Conclusion: We cannot understand the negative reviews. Everything was wonderful from the start to the farewell. The fact that quality has its price is a good thing and should be that way. The restaurant should also earn something. We can only recommend the restaurant and are looking forward to comparing it with the sister restaurant in Atlanta in the summer.
Be the first to ReplyBottle of water 13,80…???
We didn't eat anything, just had cocktails and beer. The cocktails were good, and it's understandable that something like that would be expensive in a hotel bar. Annoying: a bottle of mineral water cost €13.80. That really doesn't have to be the case.
Be the first to ReplyI will definitely come back and enjoy again!
The saltwater prawns and the scallops were incredibly delicious, the service was very pleasant, attentive and unobtrusive, but the music was very loud and disturbing.
Be the first to ReplyNever again Traders Vic's
We stayed at the Bayerischer Hof and as we were going to a concert we wanted to have a small dinner beforehand. We asked at reception---no problem, we had space in every restaurant. No luck, everything was full and there was no room left. The only option was to go to Traders Vic's, Asian food, but OK for a small dinner. It was as usual, we sat down, the waiter came and asked for drinks...at least a bottle of water. That was our biggest mistake. The food was OK, quick and reasonably good. But a bottle of water costs €15.00. I've never experienced that before and I won't experience it again. From now on I'll ask how much a bottle of water costs in every restaurant in the world. But Traders Vic's is just a rip-off. Consequence: Bayerischer Hof is dead for us. I won't put up with that, a markup of around 1000% to 2000% on the purchase price. NO ONE can argue in any way that this is justified... It's a shame, but I don't think the hotel needs guests like us...
Be the first to ReplyReally nice evening, but definitely not a discount.
After the mixed reviews here, I was a little skeptical. Overall, it was a very nice evening. I would visit this restaurant again. There is no cloakroom in the restaurant; you have to use the hotel cloakroom. €8 for two coats is a little cheeky. The restaurant isn't cheap either. We really enjoyed the dishes we ordered and the portions were really decent. Whether a run-of-the-mill wine should cost €20 per glass is another matter. To sum it up: the visit was worth it. But it was an expensive pleasure.

My girlfriend and I visited Trader Vic's because of the good reviews. We were greeted very warmly and given a comfortable table. The menu offers a large selection of exotic dishes and cocktails. The dim sum for starters tasted good and came with two sauces. The main courses were our highlights, the butterfish perfectly cooked in a spicy sauce. The prawns were also perfectly cooked and had a good selection of vegetables. The desserts rounded off the menu perfectly. The service was courteous and polite, the ambience is inviting and cozy. The price/performance ratio is upscale, but the portion sizes are generous and, in my opinion, acceptable considering the quality. All in all, a clear recommendation from me!

Top food, top drinks, top service! Not cheap but overall quality worth it, not your everyday restaurant. We had a great evening.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Cocktails in an Amazing Setting
The decor in this Trader Vic is absolutely impressive. It is quickly becoming one of the last original establishments from the Tiki heydays. A true treasure! Wander around, and you will be impressed by the Polynesian art, workmanship, and all the little details that went into creating this gem. The best escape from a dreary Munich day. Whenever I am in town, this is a must-go place for me, and unlike the hotel, whose basement it uses, it is unpretentious, so you may come as you are and you will be made welcome by the whole staff. As I have only been there for cocktails, I cannot rate the quality of the food, but the cocktails are made true to their original recipes (note: the Mai Tai was invented by Trader Vic's), and you will definitely not get the overly sweet and artificial concoctions that other bars may serve you as (incorrectly labeled) "tropical drinks". I will be a patron for many years to come, and should I ever live in Munich, I will definitely become a regular. A five star establishment, and an attraction on its own.
Be the first to ReplyVery Good restaurant focused on Asian dishes and cooking
While this Trader Vics is part of a large worldwide chain, the operation in Munchen is quite nice: easy to find, extensive menu, quite expensive, good service, and an impressive selection of dishes. We were with a touring group (Tauck) and treated well. Due to the expansive menu, suggest you might want to peruse it on one prior to going...to give you a bit of a headstart. And while they do serve foods from many countries, the restaurant focuses quite heavily on Asian dishes...excellent ones at that. So if you like Asian food and/or are a bit of an experimenter, this is your place. However, if you want predictable and not Asian, maybe another restaurant would be best for you. Highly recommend that you give it a try.
Be the first to ReplyMcDonald's Vic
First the service - 0 In spite of the reservation, made by concierge of the 5* hotel we were offered the •worst• possible suitable. After some negotiations we got something better. It is important to mention there were plenty of better tables, which were free, when we come and are still free when we going to leave. Dishes. I got about 50 gr of weal meat in a dish for approximately 40$. The inability to cook something tasty was compensated by a exaggerated amount of pepper. So the lack of meat was compensated by the waste of pepper. Other dishes - finger food - were of McDonald quality, but picturesque served Design of the restaurant room is excellent Cocktails were slight below the average. Not bad, but far from being good. The atmosphere - too line the one which you will find in McDonald's - some luck their fingers after main course, some wear evening dress. So generally - good place to get some cocktails on winter, when weather prevents you to find something better. Definitively not the place to eat or to enjoy the good service
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and experience
This was our first time here, we ordered the 5 Chinese spoons (the waiter even replaced one that we were unable to eat with something else) and Rangoon crab for starters, BBQ salmon and mixed grilled seafood for mains, and the passion fruit creme brulee and walnut ice cream for dessert, and honestly everything was delicious, we were worried about previous reviews but our fears were quickly washed away, with their great cocktails, served in their unique cups!
It is on the expensive side, but it was all very enjoyable. The staff were very polite and attentive. The interior is very quirky and they pull it off very elegantly.
Definitely planning to go again.
