Toscano Boston Reviews from The Last Year
Wonderful cuisine and ambience!
We have now dined here several times over three decades, and the place is remarkably consistent at a high level. The menu is vast and imaginative, with Italian standards like branzino and linguine vongole, but also more unusual offerings, like risotto frutti di mare, along with three other varieties of risotto. Over the years, we have tried more than a dozen of the entrees, and all of them have been excellent. The ambience is upscale, but the prices are more than reasonable, especially considering the classic Beacon Hill location. The service is impeccable, provided tonight by Ken, combining professional efficiency with a warm and friendly approach. On the street parking is possible but scarce on Charles Street, but public parking is a moderate walk away at the Boston Commons underground garage. There is valet parking, but it's pricey at $30, again probably because of the prime location. Overall and in my opinion, this is the best Italian restaurant in the city, including some fine ones in the North End.
Toscano best Italian in Boston
Remarkable three dinners at Toscano’s.
Beautiful, great ambience, friendly staff, and most importantly , incredible dinner. Pasta was remarkable !
A long time favorite
Park in the Common underground garage; cheaper than using the valet. Love that you can order a split of two kinds of pasta. My favorite is the Straticatte ... penne with delicious bolognese sauce. This is one of our favorite restaurants for special occasions. Great service in this restaurant. We come early to beat the crowded rooms.
A gem!
Wow. My faith in Italian restaurants, after this past Tuesday’s debacle in Sarasota (La Violetta), has been restored! From the greeting at the door, to our very pleasant server, to the fabulous food….everything was top notch. Had the vitello tonnato which I had quizzed the server about, hoping that what would arrive at the table was the very thing I expected it to be (yes!) As my main course I chose the special “contadina”tagliatelle and it was a delight. My fellow diners had the linguine alle vongole, salmon and the steak special and we all devoured everything happily. The service was timely and expert and the wine delicious. Oh and I must add, superior value for the money. Wish I lived in Boston so I could return. Kudos to everyone at this special place-Bravissimi!
Excellent location and menu for business meeting
Hosted a business meeting in the grotto room, 9 people and it was well worth it. Great menu, excellent service, really knowledgeable sommelier. Was a perfect location for a very pleasant work event.
We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Toscano's on
We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Toscano's on Charles Street last night for my daughter's 24th birthday. From the time we walked in throughout the evening everyone wished her a happy birthday. The service was excellent as was the food. The birthday girl had a sea bass dish that was amazing, my other daughter had the bruschetta and a pizza and I had a combination risotto as I couldn't decide which I wanted. All were absolutely delicious. To top it off, they brought the birthday girl a panna cotta dessert which was delicious as well. This was not our first time at Toscano's and it will not be our last. They have our highest rating.
Italian and service done right! Flavortown!
Exceptional food and service! The gnocchi was so delicate and savory. Little pillows of amazing! The pepper crusted filet was prepared to perfection. Sea bass was so fresh, lite and flavorful! This place is a must when you visit boston!
We showed up to the restaurant without having a reservation
We showed up to the restaurant without having a reservation but were greeted by the host kindly. We stood outside for about 15 minutes before they were open but they let us in early. Most of us got the restaurant week menu and it's a very good deal. The bread was good and idk what that balsamic vinegar and olive oil was but it's soooo good. I got the smoked salmon: it was good and the olive was interesting but quite salty as the olives are. Rigatoni truffle was pretty good , not too heavy. You get a good whiff of the truffle. Pana cotta was yummy but I was too full! We had a great time. The service was attentive and the place look really nice and classy. Great vibes to catch up with old friends. Definitely take advantage of the restaurant week menu when you can.
First time here.
Attentive and professional, if not friendly service. High-quality food. All members of our party really enjoyed what we ordered. Very comfortable room with adequate space between tables. As good as anything in the North End without the crowds and parking problems. Definitely coming back.
A long time favorite
Service was very attentive. We arrived a few minutes late but they still accommodated us and didn’t rush us. We had the tasting menu offered during Taste of Boston special. My husband enjoyed the chicken & mushroom dish. The veal in lemon sauce was rather tough. A long time favorite restaurant of ours.
Fabulous Italian in Boston

WOW! Amazing Italian dining in Boston, walking distance
WOW! Amazing Italian dining in Boston, walking distance from Harvard Square. Our party of 5 came on a Thursday evening with NO reservations around 7pm and were pleasantly surprised to get a seat on the high top tables adjacent to the bar area and open kitchen. It's a beautiful restaurant with variety of small tables, booths, and longer tables. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Food: DELICIOUS! AMAZING! Fresh made pasta and wonderfully crafted pasta sauces, and proteins. The pictures speak for themselves, and you really cannot go wrong with any choice. So much so that our group each chose a different dish for ourselves and shared a little with each other so we could try as many different dishes. I can't really pick one favorite, since they all were delicious. I would say it depends on what you're looking or hankering for. On this night, I was really drawn to Pappardelle pasta, so that was my choice. But really, if you were looking for a type of pasta like gnocchi or farfalle or rigatoni, or a type of sauce or protein...so many options to meet your needs! A "MUST TRY" in the Boston area for sure!
Excellent evening out at Toscano.
I had a steak that was terrific and my date had a salmon special. They even made a chicken parm dinner for her daughter. The service was above and beyond. We enjoyed looking out onto Charles Street in the comfortable dining room.
Attentive, charming waitstaff in traditional Italian
Attentive, charming waitstaff in traditional Italian restaurant. Not as food food as some of the places in North End. Pizza was meh. Veal pizzaola was tough and not very herbed. Gelato was similarly not as flavorful as I expected. Basically food was meh. Nice atmosphere
Superior
It's just so wonderful to find outstanding service and food these days........This establishment will treat you like family in their home.....The finest service in town with food beautifully cooked to perfection...Server was professional and offered some very good advice....Truly a gem
What a delight to find Toscano.
The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. I could not decide between the scallops/leak/spinach meal or the gnocchi special. The server suggested I order the scallops & add a side of the gnocchi. Both were amazing! I was not able to finish, but was so happy I was able to try both.
Couldn't have asked for a more perfect night.
Daniel, our server, guided us through an exceptional meal. From the wine, entree, sides and dessert our meal was exceptional. We will definitely be coming back whenever we are in town.
Wow. Been coming to Beacon Hill area for the past several
Wow. Been coming to Beacon Hill area for the past several years and never tried Toscano, but tonight just went there in a whim. To say that it was an incredible dishing experience would be an understated. Our server, Daniel, was outstanding. Every single recommendation he made from the wine to the entrees to the desserts were perfect. We are probably going back tomorrow and again and again
All around excellent
Far and away the best restaurant during a four day stay in Boston. Service, food, wine by the glass, table linens and napkins, heavy silverware, menu choices, it all came together exceedingly well. The value was also great, that includes food and wine by the glass that is served at a larger quantity than most other restaurants without costing more. Next time in Boston I will gladly return to this well managed restaurant.
Lovely ambiance with low to medium noise level.
Always excellent food and service. Lots of menu options to suit any palate. Fillet of Sole, Mushroom Rissoto, Veal Scaloppine, Mussels and Bruschetta last night all excellent. Go to for special occassions and getting together with friends.
Italian Dining Elegance
A staple of Boston's oldest neighborhood, Toscano did not disappoint. Tucked amongst cute shops on Charles Street, this divine restaurant served up delicious pastas, veal, and everything Italian! Lovely cocktails and excellent wine offerings paired with outstanding dishes are the best Boston has to offer!

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
