Torien New York Reviews from The Last Year
My favorite yakitori place I've been to outside of Japan! I
My favorite yakitori place I've been to outside of Japan! I went here last summer with a friend and it was mind-blowingly delicious. I do have to say, summer is not the best time to go since it's so hot outside and they serve you the chicken fresh off the grill, which only made us sweat more My favorite was probably the chicken heart -- it was my first time having it but it was so delicious! Now I order it everywhere I go that has it. Every dish was honestly absolutely amazing, and I left completely stuffed. Would definitely go back!
Quite OK
Great view, good staff, original menu, high prices. Overall quite nice if you are in the area or want to go to the Met.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Torien, and I must
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Torien, and I must say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked into the restaurant, I felt like I had been transported straight to Japan. The ambiance and attention to detail in the decor truly set the stage for an authentic dining experience. The service at Torien was nothing short of exceptional. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. They guided me through the menu, explaining each dish in detail and offering helpful suggestions. Their genuine passion for the cuisine was evident, making the experience even more enjoyable. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh my goodness, the food! Every dish that graced my table was a masterpiece. The flavors were exquisite, and the presentation was simply stunning. Torien's menu offers a unique twist on traditional Japanese cuisine, and it did not disappoint. I was particularly impressed with their selection of chicken dishes. Now, I must admit, I was initially a bit hesitant when it came to trying different parts of chicken that I wasn't accustomed to. However, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try. And boy, am I glad I did! The chicken heart, in particular, was a revelation. It was tender, flavorful, and surprisingly one of the highlights of my meal. Torien has truly mastered the art of showcasing the best parts of the chicken. In conclusion, my dining experience at Torien was nothing short of incredible. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was in Japan. The service was impeccable, and the food was simply outstanding. If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable dining experience, I highly recommend Torien. Just be prepared to try different parts of chicken than you're used to, because trust me, they will blow you away.
This yakitori spot is among the finest I've visited.
Although it leans towards the pricier side, it's completely worthwhile. It's my favorite choice for special occasions, celebrations, and when I have guests to impress.
Pretty view of Park
This restaurant is on the 9 th floor of the Museum of Art and Design on Columbus Circle. It is very close to a subway stop and 5.5 blocks from Lincoln Center. You do not have to pay museum admission to eat here. You can go, also for free, to the lovely museum shop on the ground floor. Service at Robert is lovely. A window table is best. Those benefit from making a reservation. Note: you might be charged a lot if you cancel a reservation in under 24 hours. Lunch offers a three course prix fixe for $51. Also a La carte. The fruit and green salad is nice with a good dressing. It is large. The chicken sandwich has too many ingredients so I ate only half. It may be the cheapest entree at $24. We didn’t order dessert so received two small pieces of Oreo cheesecake. These were very pretty and free. Appetizers may be the way to go here. Do check the menu online. I do like the view of CentralPark, particularly when Fall leaves change color. My guest had a cheeseburger. We had two diet cokes and two coffees. The bill before tip was $102 and change. I would not hurry to return. The food was ok, not great.
Another nice special meal!
We had a wonderful table once again, which is always a treat! Jose was a super server, and all the staff were attentive. Kudos to the young hostess, who was very helpful. Wines are well selected, a bit pricey for the size. Enjoyed Burrata, garden greens, and branzino. Everything was delicious and well prepared. Took a bit long for the cappuccino. Overall excellent visit! Thank you.
Good food, great view, excellent service
Brunch was yummy. The views from the dining room were spectacular. Our friendly server was the best. My companion had the Benedict and I had a mushroom omelet. Dessert was also worth every calorie. Go!
Excellent Dining Experience
We have had dinner at Robert in the past. Our experience has been consistently excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our meal was well prepared and beautifully presented. The view of Columbus Circle is lovely. The noise level was low allowing us have a pleasant quiet conversation.
Looking at the park.
A little small place with tables a little too close together but with a wonderful view (even from the bathroom) on Columbus Circle. Very fussy about booking time. Overall it was the best of the three restaurants we tried in New York (although the filet mignon at Morton's is unsurpassed). Discreet service.
Restaurant with a view!
Had an amazing experience at Robert went there for a pre-theater dinner, and was welcomed by the staff. We were given a wonderful table by the window where we could watch the sunset at Columbus Circle. The appetizers and the entrées were amazing the drinks , the wine was wonderful, we did experience the piano player that started at 6 o’clock and added a wonderful added ambience to the beautiful place. I highly recommend!
About a 1-1.
5: Torien is a yakitori omakase, and we were curious enough to check them out for dinner. The omakase included: +a Welcome Appetizer - a chicken stock soup with chicken wonton +Thigh +Hearts +Chicken Oyster - with fresh wasabi from shizuoka +Broccoli +Quail Eggs +Skewer Break - yukon potato with brown butter was served +Chicken Meatball +Cartliage +Brussels Sprouts +Wings +Tori Ramen +and, a Lemon Brulee for dessert Unfortunately, we didn't think this omakase reflected the price, as unless you're a vegetarian, having some of the courses being broccoli and brussels sprouts was super disappointing. In addition, some of the yakitori wasn't that great, such as the quail eggs, the chicken meatball, and the wings, as they had a strong 'chicken/poultry' odor to them. Service was great, and the decor of the place was simple and straightforward. We're glad to try this place out, but couldn't recommend. +omakase does not reflect offerings
Simply blew me away! We have tried various Michelin star
Simply blew me away! We have tried various Michelin star restaurants in NYC and this one stood out! I have never tasted better chicken. Every dish was so good and unique. Chef was so nice and service was great too. 100% recommend!
Fantastic
Incredible experience. From the food, the service, and the views a perfect combination for and excellent dinner. I can’t say enough to describe what the experience was like, but it was for my daughters birthday, and we had a great time.
Expensive Thanksgiving dinner
This was the third time that my wife and I had Thanksgiving dinner at Robert. Full disclosure: my sister who has always treated us before somehow forgot to leave her credit card when she made our reservation. Imagine our shock when the bill came. We're a couple of educators. Gulp! The food, drink, ambiance, and service (thanks, Irving!) are great, but we can't come back here. Maybe diners with more money can. :)
Torien has one of the best traditional Japanese Yakitori
Torien has one of the best traditional Japanese Yakitori experiences I've had in a very long time. Since I was in Japan in 2017. My soul needed this meal. It craved it. The food was a 10/10 and the ambiance felt very exclusive and personal. After we finished the chef even walked us outside and waited for us outside in the rain until our car left. What an incredible experience. Any couples looking to go out and have fun please consider this place. Men this is how you're gonna bag a wife... this will seal the deal I promise you. "No Yakitori, No Life."
A place to be
Robert fulfilled all of our expectations: booking was easy and super friendly, there was no issues to add one persone more, we asked first the window snd we got the best spot to serve the Columbus Circle. Food was absolutely delicious and the little birthday dessert enlightened the evening of our son. Staff super friendly, quick serving. Thank you, Robert, we will be back!
I went here for the Michelin star.
Everything was tasty, fresh, and juicy, and the service was pretty good, but I can't help but question the price tag. My husband and I spent 598 dollars total for two (gratuity was included). We each had a glass of wine and a beer + our meal. Surely chicken can't be worth that much? I'm shook. I'll be eating packaged ramen for the rest of the week.
Lovely splurge of a yakitori spot.
From start to finish, the entire staff was friendly. The host came and chatted at the end, and sent me home with a piece of binchotan charcoal for purifying drinking water, which was a lovely touch. The menu varies depending on when you go. I was hoping our meal was going to end with the premium Japanese melon but the menu was running lemon sorbet instead. Plenty of stand out items such as the cartilage, the bursting egg, heart and meatball. Didn't add on any extras at the end, as I was feeling extremely full. The staff offers the final oyakodon packed as a takeaway, which I gladly accepted. If I remember correctly, the bidet in the front bathroom was not functional. Other than that, loved the entire premises. Highly recommend for a special occasion meal if you ever get the chance to go.
Went back in July but posting my review in November.
I had the pleasure of dining at torien, and it was truly one of the best yakitori experience I've had in NYC. From the moment we entered until the moment I left, the staff were incredibly attentive and professional. The service was top-notch. Now, let's talk about the highlight: the yakitori prepared by Chef Rodrigo. They were simply exceptional. Despite being piping hot, I couldn't resist taking a bite of those tender, moist, and flavor-packed skewers. Each one was grilled to perfection, bursting with rich flavors. I must commend the chef for his engagement with customers throughout the course. I made sure to arrive hungry, and I'm glad I did because the meal was not only delicious but also satisfyingly filling.
delicious yaki tori with extensive drink menu!! we had a
delicious yaki tori with extensive drink menu!! we had a great time at torien, each piece was cooked perfectly -- the chef is so talented! I wish there was slightly more variety, since a number of the pieces tasted identical, but I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!! :))
