Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta Maihama Reviews from The Last Year
$30 AUD for a swim and buffet that was the worst I have ever experienced
Room is roomy, comfortable with beds that are great but ‘bedshare’ not quite possible so my other half couldn’t complain at all about me stealing the doona for 3 nights as I was sleeping in the next bed. Lovely hotel with quirky Disney theme everywhere so we really enjoyed this part of the experience BUT the food in one restaurant was atrocious!!!! I believe it was called Oceano We booked what we thought was a choice of a two set menus but ended up in a buffet that was one of the worst I had ever seen. We booked so we could see the 830 pm fireworks and although we had a window table we had an eye level screen completely blocking our view. This restaurant was devoid of atmosphere and the experience has completely ruined our last night in Japan after 4 weeks of amazing food. The constant clatter of cooking utensils from the kitchen added to our delightful experience . I ended up not eating and my husband persevered as it was late and he needed sustenance. Oh and I was really looking forward to a swim after a long day of lining up for rides and upon going to the pool found out that the ‘COST’ for in house guests was 3000 yen almost $AUD 30 Review getting 2 as until this evening we were really enjoying the hotel. Funny how a couple of things can ruin a stay. I also think that the hotel doesn’t care about reviews but hope this helps just one person deciding to book
Wonderful dinner experience at Silk Road Garden
We having a wonderful dinner experience at Silk Road Garden. Their dishes are delicious, presentation is beautiful. And we served by Mr Yu Shiina, he is very kind and gives us a 5 stars services tonight. Thank you for bringing us a memorable dinner experience at our honeymoon trip. We must visit again in the near future.
Upclass Disney, convenient but not cheap. Exclusivity has its price.
probably actually 4.5 stars. We stayed 4 nites in March 2024. we felt fortunate to get the hotel room (released 90 days ahead) even though it was the most expensive (at least $100 -150 extra per nite) hotel of 5 hotels that we've stayed at in Tokyo. For comparison, we stayed in a 4 star big chain name on Mahaima (a Disney Resort partner on the monorail line last year for $220 less per nite. (this year the price at that same hotel was only $50 less per nite). so depending on how you look at it, we either got a good deal for an extra $50 per nite at Mira Costa or got a really GREAT deal last year. We stayed on the Venetian side. for a 20 year old hotel, the rooms are nice, evoking the feel of staying in a well-kept up family villa. in keeping with the theme, the furniture, furnishings, decorations appear to be Italian ornate with the Disney theme, but more subtle. e.g. the cartography map framed on the wall has a "Strait of YENSID", featuring Queen Clarabelle. It took me 2 days to realize that the pattern on the border of the raised ceiling was merman Mickey holding a shell. Asian Modern, this is not. but the room is well maintained, the sign of wear being the velour love seat; the velour appears worn. HVAC, lights, fridge all worked fine. probably state of the art 20 years ago, the closet has a motion detector to turn on a light. classified as a "5 star" hotel, I'm not sure that it would be the equal of a 4 seasons, Ritz etc. although I've never stayed in one. Certainly every staff encounter was professional and friendly and helpful. compared to the 4 star hotels I have stayed at, I do have to say that the housekeeping at the Mira Costa was thorough, efficient.... and we always saw a vacuum cleaner next to the linen cart--which I can't say for the 4 star large chain hotels we've stayed at. however I think a 5 star hotel should have better than instant coffee in the room. maybe it's just me. So, was it worth an extra $50 a nite? yes. While you just can't "walk downstairs and enter Disney Sea and go back and forth", you do get a special ticket which entitles you to enter either park ~ 30 min. earlier than the general public. which translates into 1 main ride extra. does it save waiting time to enter the park(s)? Yes. is it worth it not to have to get in line for the resort monorail and then walk to your hotel at the end of the day? maybe--if you have no more energy at the end of a day walking and standing. Is it worth an extra $200 a nite? that depends. if you're a Disney superfan, maybe. there are souvenirs like a Mira Costa plastic cup (that says "take me home"), a reusable small tote bag available no where else, etc. On the other hand you could (if you get a reservation!) have lunch for 2 at Magellan's which would also be very special and good. staying at the Mira Costa you also accept theme park or 5 star hotel prices for breakfast and lunch....or take the monorail to the mall and back losing time. while there is a 7-11 at another Disney Resort hotel, there is no convenience store for onigiri, fast sandwiches, etc. at the Mira Costa.
Once is enough
Worst hotel in terms of price and experience ratio. Check in process was very slow. We arrived at 3 PM and there was literally a 40 mins waiting line just for check in. And after you finished checking in. You have to wait another 30 mins for one staff to bring your luggages and take you to your room. I mean I can bring my own luggage to my room. Is this a hotel or a public hospital? For $400++ a night I would rather stay at Hilton or InterContinental. Disney is not that magical after all. I wouldn't stay here again. If it's not for the kids - Avoid.
The best hotel for Disney Sea
Absolutely loved our stay. This hotel attaches to Disney Sea so you can drop in for a rest. The rooms are very ornate. We stayed in a Mickey room. The pool is incredible but you need to pay about $40pp to swim there! Like Tokyo Disneyland hotel, the beds can be very firm, indeed.
Hotel with the worst staff
The front desk service was just the worst. When I called to cancel a reservation that was more than a month away, they did not respond to my request at all. They just kept saying, "Reservations made through Ikyu cannot be cancelled by the hotel, so please contact Ikyu yourself." Even when I checked my Ikyu account information, explained that there was no MiraCosta in my reservation history, and explained that I could not cancel, they did nothing. I was really disappointed by their inflexible service. I had no choice but to call Ikyu, and they told me, "Cancellations are handled by MiraCosta (the hotel), not Ikyu, so please ask MiraCosta," which is contradictory. I was confused and asked, "Which is correct?" and told them that MiraCosta had refused earlier, and they responded, "Well, we will accept the cancellation this time, we will check the reservation status with MiraCosta, and contact you if there is a problem." This is normal Ikyu's response... I called MiraCosta again and told them that Ikyu told me that the hotel has the rule to cancel the reservation. They said, "The documents say that the hotel cannot make any changes to the reservation. We will check with Ikyu and call you back." "What? Now? If they could contact Ikyu's representative, why didn't they try to check with Ikyu from the beginning?" I thought. What was even more surprising was that when I told them that I had given my opinion and asked them to improve their service in the future, they replied, "I will tell Ikyu," as if it was someone else's problem. I was shocked and speechless. They put the blame on the other company's service (Ikyu) and acted like they had done nothing wrong, and their way of speaking and choice of words were unfriendly from start to finish, which I couldn't believe. In fact, the Ikyu representative handled the situation very properly. lol Also, which side (Ikyu's side or MiraCosta's side) was right in the end? When I asked, they said, "The rule is that customers should cancel on the Ikyu website themselves." When I asked, "What happens if you can't log in like this time?" they replied, "You can contact Ikyu for login information and do it yourself." They refused to admit fault until the end and maintained their stance that they were right. In the first place, the fact that the hotel itself can't manage the cancellation of the hotel reservation made me think, "Aren't they being taken over by an outsourced service (Ikyu)?" (bitter laugh) The poor level of the staff, their poor service, and their bad attitude are unbelievable for a first-class hotel that you would pay a lot of money to stay at. I'm very disappointed because it was a hotel I had always wanted to stay at.
Porto Paradiso Harbor View room - A MUST IF YOU CAN GET IT
FINAL VERDICT: DisneySea parade is mind blowing, room with Harbor View is worth every cent if you success in booking the room (securing a good room is very challenging) 3 Line summary - Great for families who are big Disney fans and would like to make perfect memories & experience. Harbor View room gets you FULL view to the Porto Paradiso (Sea, Mountain and S.S. Columbia). You can enjoy all the Disney Sea parades (but NOT fireworks), elevating the experience. - Location trumps all. Provides a cozy shelter very close to the Disney park which helped the family recharge (especially younger ones) and re-enter the theme park. - Club level experience was worth the extra expense. Club level casts will try their best to attend to guests and they do have casts who can speak full English. WHEN: Feb 2024 WHO: Family of 3, includes a 2 year old daughter WHAT ROOM: Porto Paradiso Side Terrace Room, Harbor View HOW: We visited the Miracoasta for 1 days in 2024 early February as part of our Disney Vacation Package. Weather was very helpful despite it being Winter for Tokyo. 3 ~ 12 degrees celsius and mild with some clouds or sunny time to time. It was our 2nd Tokyo DisneySea visit and we wanted to explore the park seriously. The Miracoasta hotel location is very helpful for this as it’s directly connected to the park so we went to our room often to take rests and recharge. We had the Porto Paradiso side Terrace Room so we could enjoy the theme parks’ dreamy ambience even at the room & terrace not to mention that we got to see all the parades comfortably in bed. Check in process was convenient as our room had access to the concierge. I would recommend getting this access if you don’t speak Japanese and have enough budget, since this was drastically different experience vs. our last visit. Cast members are well trained in English and they deliver the best they can on personal requests which was very helpful elevating our family’s experience. Do note that some services (ex. soft copy access on photos taken by Disney photographers) are only available to Japanese speakers - I ended up switching my Disney app to Japanese to get more features from the app. TIPS: - Get the concierge level rooms if you do not speak Japanese and value experience over budget. Casts at the club level are well trained in English and very helpful in maximizing personal preferences. - Hotel has a indoor pool that you need to pay even if you are staying at the hotel, but because of this there are less guests and you can enjoy the fantastic pool all to yourself. You can re-enter the pool on the same day, even after check-out. - Porto Paradiso view was worth every penny and wonderful for viewing the Disney Sea parades, but you will NOT be able to see the fireworks from the room. *Disclaimer: 1. My reviews are very subjective and based on my own experience. 2. I NEVER WRITE PAID REVIEWS. 3. I may have biased towards family-friendly experiences since I am a dad to our family of 3. 4. I favor quality, time and experience over affordability
It was a dream hotel, but...
Ever since DisneySea was first built, this was a hotel I had always wanted to stay at. The gorgeous lobby and rooms were surrounded by Disney characters, which made me feel very happy. With Happy Entry, you can enter the park earlier than other guests, and if you get tired, you can go back inside the sea to take a rest, so it was very convenient. However, my honest impression was that it was not as good as I expected. I felt that the level of the staff was not so good considering that we paid over 40,000 yen per person. When we checked in, we were shown to the counter to purchase tickets, but there was no explanation of what to do after that, so we had to go back to the reception desk to ask what to do with our card key and luggage. Also, the walls of the room were thin, so we could hear the sounds of the neighbors and footsteps from the floor above, which made it feel like a business hotel, which was disappointing. If we were going to pay the same amount, I felt that it would be better to stay at the Okura or Hilton. It is a great hotel for families with children and Disney fans, and it is also convenient, so I think it is a good idea to take the above points into consideration when using it.
Unforgetable Experience
Staying at the only hotel which is located inside of Disneysea is an unforgettable experience. We stayed at Tuscany Side Capitano Mickey Superior Room. Too bad the Aquasphere view from our room windows was blocked by some walls. Interiors of the lobby and rooms are magnificent and flawless. However, the room toilet and shower are very standard and quite small In-house guests of Mira Costa received Happy Entry for Disneyland and Disneysea, which grants you 15 minutes earlier entry to the parks before regular opening hours. There is also an entrance directly from the hotel to Disneysea which opens 1 hour after the regular opening hour of the park. The indoor pool is not free. There is no gym (who would go to the gym anyway when you are staying at Disneysea hotel 😄) Gotta use the time to enjoy every second and every moment for the Disney experience. All of the staff are exceptionally friendly and very helpful. Check-in time is at 3 pm but we were informed to check in at 4:30 pm due to high occupancy, so we went to Disneyland first. Check-out time is at 12 pm and we could not get late check out because the hotel was fully booked. Mira Costa probably is one of the most high occupancy hotels in the world. It is very recommended to stay here if you want to maximize the experience of Tokyo Disney Resort 👍
Bad bad bad
With 2 little grandchildren we couldn’t get into any of the 3 Restaraunt’s. After we complained we went to the buffet Restaraunt the food was cold uninviting, bad and expensive. My husband and I got sick and they couldn’t arrange for a Dr to come to the hotel. Would never stay here again and could not possibly recommend it to friends!

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
