Altough Thoumieux is a bit pricey and service is sometimes a little arrogant, the food is great (especially the sole and the churros!). I like the elegant bistro athmosphere, in spite the noise.

The pizza starter is still amazing. Totally different than any other you have ever had! The foie GRAS was great! The lamb was perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes are basically made up of one potato and lots of butter and cream! Very yummy!!! For desert get the tarte assortment.
Be the first to ReplyGreat customer service.
The drinks are made great and the food is mediocre. However the staff was so professional and attentive that it made the dining experience and food that much better.

Modern twist on the traditional Parisian brasserie next to Invalides and the Eiffel Tower. Food was delicious and good service made a very enjoyable dinner.
Be the first to ReplyGREAT SERVICE, DELICIOUS FOOD.
This trip i had two meals - one lunch, and one dinner at the brasserie as i could not go too far given the strikes in Paris. Â I also had two breakfasts at the hotel, upstairs where they normally have a fancy 2 michelin star restaurant at nights.Brasserie - Fantastic. Â Both times at the Brasserie, Elisa served me as last year. Highly attentive and professional. Â French onion soup fabulous and different from most places.Steak tartar, a must.Cheese plate, lovely.Desserts, fabulous.Everything good.Looking forward to my next trip in a few months.

Waited 1 hour 20 minutes for main course. And watery soup was 18 Euros!
Be the first to ReplyWorst meal I have ever had in Paris.
Perhaps the worst dining experience I have ever had in my life.  I write this in the hopes that no one else has to have the same experience I have had.I am a vegetarian.  When making the reservation, IN FRENCH by a FRENCH speaking person, they asked if they had vegetarian options, which they said yes to.  When confirming the reservation, she double checked if they did.  They, again, said yes.We arrive and, of course, there are no vegetarian options.  That's okay, I understand that a lot of people in Europe think that vegetarians eat fish.  I am easy: I will order a salad verte, pomme frites, and just veggies for dinner.  This is what a male waiter suggested.Of course, he ended up not being our waiter.  I had someone order for me in French because I was having a rough day in general (not sleeping, American election came in, hadn't eaten since morning, etc...) to make sure we got it right.  Speaking enough French, I specified to the waitress "juste salad verte".  Well, they dimmed the lights in the restaraunt to make it more intimate.  The one great thing about this place: the ambiance.  The place has been remodeled and is full of mirrors making the place seem bigger than it is.  I almost felt transported back into the 1920s, however, that's about where the magic ended.I saw what looked to be frites and a salad going to another table and was pretty excited to eat, seeing that the frites a la carte looked so good.  My salad verte arrived with everyone else's entrees and was just plopped down in front of me with no explanation of what it was (and by someone who didn't know who's food was who's).  That's fine, I read before on Yelp that the service here was not so great.  However, something striked me as odd: they took someone else's salad and examined it, then put it back down on the table. My salad consisted of butter lettuce, but the more I ate the more I realized that something was wrong.  One, there was no dressing on the lettuce.  Two, it was very bitter.  The salad had what appeared to be beets, onions, and cucumber.  The cucumber was so bitter and I couldn't figure out why.  I tried a beet, and yes, it was a beet.  So I took a nice big bite and realized the onions weren't onions, and couldn't figure out what it was.Yes, they accidentally gave me tartare.  As someone who is a vegetarian, this was a horrible experience.  I was in such a horrible mood that I couldn't even stop to tell them they had given me the wrong meal (we were at a business dinner and I didn't want to make a scene).  What's worse is that they realized they had given me a tartare and whispered about it with each other when they took my plate.  No apology was offered. My vegetables had sand in them and I left the night very hungry.  It may seem dumb to others, but I went to the bathroom and cried.  My day was bad but this was the straw that broke the camels back.  I cannot believe that a dining experience could make me feel this bad, but it did.  Not only was I served the wrong thing, but I also just felt disrespected by the staff who paid no mind to making our table feel great and instead focussed on a large party next to us.TO THE MAN WHO GOT MY SALAD VERTE:  I am sorry that you ended up with my salad verte, but to be honest, it was also the most unappetizing plate of tartare I have ever seen in my life, and you dodged a bullet with this one.  I hope my salad tasted good.

Great location, great food, great value, great service.  Found out this might be a two star place.  Loved it and want to return soon.
Be the first to ReplyWe were graciously greeted at our appointed reservation
We were graciously greeted at our appointed reservation time and seated, but no one came to the table to ask about a drink order or even to check if we had been waited on for 25 minutes.  We had to call someone over.  They brought a spread for an amuse-bouche but no plates.  We had to request plates and they brought us the wrong plates, very hot straight out of the dishwasher that melted the spread.  When they came to clear for our entrée, asked us to keep our creamy knives for the next course....unheard of!  I had the tomato salade which was lovely to look at, but the tomatoes were hard and tasteless.  As Iive in Paris, I know this is the season and wonderful tomatoes are easily found and bountiful.  My main course was the "aller-retour" tartare...completely unseasoned and watery.  I have honestly never had such a bad tartare.  It was like eating raw meat run through a cuisinart.  I finished (actually left half my tartare) my plat (main course) before my partner;  the waiter (first time we had seen him) rushed over to take my plate while he was still eating (also a very under-seasoned Basque chicken dish- normally very seasoned).  Removing a plate while others at a table are still eating is very rude anywhere, but especially in France completely taboo.  The expensive Lalande Pomerol was not good.  I live in Paris and we eat out constantly.  At NO time did anyone stop by the table to ask how our dinner was.  This was by far the worst meal (and extremely expensive relative to the dishes which we have had many times at small, intimate restaurants all over Paris) we have had in Paris.  They are obviously trading on the reputation of their 2 star restaurant (although I am loathe to try it now) and tourists who just want to say they have come to this brasserie.  I would certainly never recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyUnwelcoming and rude, with a grim and snooty hostess
Unwelcoming and rude, with a grim and snooty hostess (banishing Americans to the back ghetto, no matter how well dressed and French speaking), and incompetent table service (the wine brought and poured without asking before the aperitif arrived, orders taken sullenly, the courses plunked down before us). Â It really was amazing how it colored our mood and killed our enjoyment of the evening, but I could have forgiven some of it if the food had been great. Â The bread was lovely, and my husband's foie gras was excellent - but both these things are easy to buy in quality (I don't know if they are house made or not). Â My frisee salad, however, was weighed down by altogether too much liquid - it was set on a kind of bacon mousse, which when combined with the (nicely) poached egg and vinaigraitte, turned it into more of a soup than a salad. Â I'll add that the whole thing was rather gray looking as well, which was not especially appetizing. Â My husband's duck was fine, and my (45 euro) entrecote was okay but comically offset by the world's tiniest french fry cup. Â I think it had about 7 or 8 fries in it (stiff and overdone). Â Finally, the mille feuille - perhaps we've been spoiled by other places, but the pastry was much too dense and overbaked as well. Â The espresso? Â Bitter, but that does tend to be the norm in Paris. Â The room is pretty and clearly they are striving for a fashionable scene, although the room was at least half full of tourists being treated badly. Â A big disappointment.

This seems like that slightly upscale neighborhood bistro that you would visit on a rainy night with your significant other after a long, bad day at work. Â It may not be the best food in the world, but it's solid and the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel like you are among like-minded individuals who just want to enjoy each other's company in a comfortable environment. We went here after we checked into our hotel and realized we had to kill 4 hours before we could actually get a room to shower, take a nap, etc. Â Needless to say, we were delirious because neither one of us slept on the plane at all.The butter and bread were delicious. Â Little dish of salt that came with the butter? Â Amazing! Â Life changing! Â Will do that from now on with all of my dinner parties! The food portions were large but I didn't think they were particularly noteworthy. Â This may be the jet lag talking though. Â I remember I got a salad and the beef tartare. Â Both were fine but not amazing. Â Hubby got a squid pasta dish that he really enjoyed and steak which was fine. Our waitress was delightful and overall the service was very good. Â We went during lunch time and the restaurant was not packed so that could have helped.
Be the first to ReplyWent here for lunch one day.
First of all, everybody was extremely friendly at this place (despite the group of us not having reservations and coming in for a late lunch and being the last to leave). We started off with great bread, excellent butter, sea salt and a fish spread. My friend and I got the fish - surprisingly very light (go figure for French food!). Other friend got the beef tartare and it came with fantastic French fries that we concluded must have been bathed in duck fat. Other friend got the steak which was cooked perfectly. Now the desserts. There is one that still holds a place in my heart. It was the creme caramel served in a mason jar. The liquid caramel on bottom with thousands of little black dots from the vanilla beans with perfectly smooth custard on top. And the creme de la creme (pardon the pun) was the burnt layer on top that you see on creme brulee. Some places don't get this layer right but here it was exceptionally crunchy. The other dessert was great, too - a very light almost-whipped yogurt studded with vanilla beans and served with fruit. Top this off with some rose and it was the perfect leisurely Parisian lunch.
