Definitely go for happy hour and get the lobster tacos.
...2 bite, mini crunchy tortillas with cold lobster filling. So delicious....we ended up ordering extra! I also recommend the fried chicken sandwich with a side of their regular fries. Their drinks are unique and the atmosphere/decor is great. Servers and the manager were all extremely attentive even with a fully packed restaurant. Everything came to the table quickly. Perfect spot with valet parking.

My friends and I recently tried The Whale for brunch on Sunday! We got lucky with a table as it was Easter day and most brunch places were blocked out. The Whale is located in Logan Square and has a lot of seating space - they have booths, high stools, bar chairs, plenty of space to even accommodate large parties. They offer the entire menu even during brunch which was great and have a lot of vegan options. We ordered BBQ Jackfruit sandwich, steamed broccoli, Chicken Waffles, Shrimp Grits, Plain Waffles and Scrambled eggs. The food was delicious. We also ordered an Aprerol Spritz, Bellini and Coffees along with our food. The taste was amazing! For desert, we all shared a Carrot cake and it wasn't dry and had good sweet taste from carrots, wasn't over-sweet. We observed that the menu also served Mimosa towers for a very reasonable price for brunch. What we loved about this place was its quick and seamless way of paying the bill via a QR code which is placed on your table. Everything was just so quick! You can surely check out this place for their wide range of food and drinks options.
Be the first to ReplyI had another fantastic experience here.
Every dish was delicious, and Emily provided exceptional service. The drinks were truly phenomenal. Overall, my experience at this place is consistently excellent. The music adds to the enjoyable atmosphere, and the service is always top-notch.
Be the first to ReplyThis place had an amazing Happy Hour.
Prices were super reasonable and food was excellent. Had oysters, lobster tacos and deviled eggs. Everything was wonderful. Staff were fun and very nice. Would go back over and over. Drinks were also fantastic, old fashioned was top notch!
Be the first to ReplyThis is a very good restaurant.
Food is good and service is great. A bit pricey but you will leave happy.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive.
Neat Vegas decor. Friendly staff. Super bathrooms. Large drink menu. Classy place.
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant.
Good attention to detail, and friendly waitstaff. No problems with the food or drinks

Goodbye $95 Brunch for Two: Not only did you charge me a service fee for using a credit card (I presume?) but you added another fee for using your payment/POS vendor (Sunday.com). And to top it off, you decided to calculate tip off the service fees and taxes too . I've been here dozens of times but this is officially my last visit. So goodbye, Whale. I don't think you're going to survive the gouging. It will be your end.
Be the first to ReplyFine dining quality food for just mid-tier pricing.
Even the simplest dishes have been subtly elevated beyond average restaurant food. The dining area is great--almost always busy so I'd recommend reservations. The summertime provides the best milieu since the windows open up for ideal people-staring activities. Staff must be great because I don't ever recall having an issue or bad experience. Highly recommend, and it's my go-to when I'm hosting people from out-of-town.
Be the first to ReplyI've visited here twice for brunch recently.
. really great food. We loved our server Kelly, she was attentive and a fun time. The breakfast potatoes are to die for. Would like to come back to try dinner.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time at The Whale.
Met some friends for a happy hour cocktails and some dinner. Ribeye cooked to a perfect med rare as requested. Not quite as tender as expected but the flavor made up for it. Wife ordered lamb chops and I glanced over to witness her with bone in mouth getting every last bit of lamb ...must have been delish lol. Appetizers were good, lobster tacos were tasty with a lil kick and the deviled eggs were just like mom used to make only tasty (sorry mom). Only downside was the noise level. Music was loud causing everyone to raise the convo and making it difficult to hold a conversation. My voice actually got horse by end of dinner and that never happens. Service was on point and price was a little high but ok for the quality of food. We had a "whale" of a time here.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and atmosphere.
Service was very on point and perfect for our time there. Definitely a place to relax after a long day or a weekend visit
Be the first to ReplyNice place for Sunday Funday or just drop in.
The Whale has a lively vibe and great hospitality. 90s hip hop music was nice, they switch genres accordingly. "D" the manger was personable and cool. Every staff member I encountered was nice and friendly. Ordered Pimento Mac & Cheese, Shrimp tacos, Hearts of palm salad, etc. Everything tasted good. Must go back.
Be the first to ReplyI 100% recommend their happy hour.
It runs from 5-7pm. They have various options of food as well as $8 cocktails. I got the $15 burger and fries and while the burger was a little too salty to me it was overall very good, 9/10. I also had the north of Havana and the regular fries, 10/10. The ambiance is very elegant and great for a girls night. However what truly made this spot 5 stars for me was the amazing service. Our waitress was kind, understanding, and attentive. I do not take great service for granted and would definitely return. Please note. This review is based solely off their happy hour menu and prices. I have yet to return for their regular priced items.
Be the first to ReplyI've been to The Whale a couple times before this last time
I've been to The Whale a couple times before this last time and no complaints, obviously enough to go back a couple more times. This most recent time, I went for brunch. The vibe is cool, kinda loud but whatever. My group of four had resy at noon, we checked in at noon, but did not get seated for another 15 minutes. Soon as we got seated our waitress asked if we knew what we wanted for drinks, we barely sat down and weren't able to look at the menu. That first interaction definitely set the tone for the rest of our stay. We felt so rushed and personally unwelcome. My friends and I are not the type that takes 5+ minutes to make a decision, by the time our waitress returned for our drink order, we put that in. We received our drinks and they were very underwhelming. For starters one person ordered a marg and it was very basic, no salt or sugar on the rim. Another person ordered an espresso martini, there was no froth, no biggie and tasted okay. Let's talk about the food...after a few minutes of us receiving our drinks, our waiter came by and took our food order. Once we received our food, everything seemed fine. Two of the four ordered avo toast, one ordered the grits and I ordered the Sicilian crab cakes from the brunch menu. When I picked up the knife that was served with my dish, THERE WAS A BUG!!! YOU COULD SEE THE BODY, LEGS, AND EVEN THE WINGS! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! Unfortunately, I don't have a photo. I called over our waitress and showed her, she physically stood over my plate looked and said "that's disgusting" grabs my plate and says she will take care of it. Literally 2 minutes later the manager comes back with that same plate I was originally served and tried to gaslight me!! When she came back so soon I asked her if it was the same one bc there was no way they made a new dish in two minutes and the manager says "yes, it's the original dish, bc they looked at it under a flashlight and it was just cracked black pepper." So they pretty much wiped off the bug and tried serving it to me again. I was so grossed out at that point and honestly upset. After that the manager was so passive aggressive towards me after I requested that they make a new dish. Will not be returning.

A little pricey but overall good experience but hey i would for sure revisit Had the fried chicken It was amazing for sure
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is definitely lively.
It's beautiful and loud almost too loud it was very hard to hold a conversation. The food was fine but nothing special and way over priced. A cheeseburger without fries should not cost $14. We also had buffalo cauliflower wings which were fine. I had the kale and Quinoa Salad the only vegan entree. It had way too much dressing . It didn't taste bad but was nothing to make me come back. I also noticed that the floor underneath our table was so sticky. Dinner for two people without drinks was $64. For that price I would love a clean floor that I don't stick to. I was not impressed.

Cute spot!!! Would be so lovely in the summer but still a blast even when cold. Can't speak for the food as my friend and I only had wine and fries but both of those were great! Loved sitting at the bar and the fact they had 2 bars. Service was quick and reliable. Will definitely be back to try more!
Be the first to ReplyService was great.
Food is Sysco supplied mediocrity reminiscent of a TGI Fridays disguised as an upscale neighborhood eatery. Auto added tip and credit card fee on top of a VERY overpriced menu.
Be the first to ReplyGreat vibes! I love the decor and the music.
Service was good and the food was tasty! The lobster tacos were *chefs kiss* even though there was not enough lobster in them. Loved the fried chicken -- definitely a plate for two! Could've done without the pimento mac n cheese.

I came here today to celebrate a birthday, and it is so nice and cozy. Everyone was so nice and attentive. I ordered lobster tacos, and they were delicious. The prices are also reasonable. Loved it honestly!

So this place is kind of expensive not gonna lie, but their jackfruit barbecue sandwich is so freaking good so I had to go back. Their frozen's are also super good. They have a drink similar to a piรฑa colada but it's made with whiskey or bourbon. I can't remember what which one it's made with but it's delish.Nice vibes. The decor is absolutely stunning! Even the bathrooms are decorated! Definitely an awesome spot to go with your friends or on a date. They have these super cool TVs everywhere. I think they're cool because they have these huge god trimming around them and sometimes they have white and black pictures projected on them but other times they are playing sports on them. Honestly the first time I saw the TVs I didn't even know that they were TVs. I thought they were just lit up picture frames the way they had the projected white and black photos on them. So I was surprised when they were playing a football game the next time I was there. Nice surprise. The music is a little bit loud but if you're into it it's a good time.I would recommend to the establishment to turn down the volume just a little bit because it is super difficult to hear the person that sitting with you at the table.Definitely check out the spot. Prepare to splurge a bit.
Be the first to ReplyCame here midday on a weekday.
My daughter had an appointment nearby in the morning, so we decided to go here for lunch since it was convenient. There was plenty of metered street parking and we didn't have to walk far. They had plenty of outside seating available as you walked up. There were a few patrons that were coming in and out. Inside there's plenty of seating too. The place looks huge, with windows that bring in a lot of light. Everything seemed delicious. We ordered the Cali-Lime, WHALE burger and the carrot cake. Our food came out pretty quickly, which was nice.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is amazing.
My favorite is the Buffalo style cauliflowers and I'm a huge fan of wings but this appetizer was amazing. The ambiance is great for a Friday or Saturday night.

Great ambiance, nice and relaxing! However drinks were weak and so-so. We tried a few different martinis and specialty drinks. The apps were good, we tried the cauliflower bites and chicken wings. The entrees left a lot to be desired and were not worth the price. The steak frites was served raw. They offered to send back but with the steak precut no thanks. The chicken we expected breasts as that was the description however we received what looked like leftover wings and tenders not used for apps. The burger was good but soggy. To top it off, no option to change the tip. A table of three and 20% added. No way! I understand large parties, but adding in a tip after the server pointed out how rare the steak was is unacceptable. Would not recommend.
