Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely perfect experience!
Renowned 3-star Michelin and every bite and sip proved the point! Lovely service from sitting outside with aperitifs and the menu through to our departure. Very professional, smiling, engaging, friendly service and amazing food, course after course. Presentations are beautiful. Great sommelier guided us to perfect wine choices.

Weekend dinner booked for table of four, same as every other time going greeted at the front door by a host of people all welcoming and smiles all round. Arrived 10/15 minutes early and had the choice of a drink outside or to our table. ( straight to our table as i had kept myself hungry ready for dinner ) starters included, • pan fried lobster there is a reason it has been kept on the menu for so long and it’s because it is perfection. • orkney scallops it was a friends wife who had this and unfortunately I can’t remember her comments however the fact it looked like the plate had been licked clean makes me think it was enjoyed. • pan fried foie gras and this was melt in the mouth sensational. • lobster à la presse presented table side to add to the experience, faultless. Main dishes of fillet Angus beef & red mullet followed and as always cooked and presented in such precision. However two shared the Duck à la presse… again a great table side serving. Brought out a slightly undercooked duck and took the meat off the bones ( back to the kitchen to be prepared) with the bones then to be put into the press where the goodness was extracted all while the rich sauce was being prepared while having a chat with the staff. With every dish there was a moment when you tasted it and you just had to shut your eyes and shake your head in astonishment of just how good a place this really is!! We had a specially asked for pre dessert that was not a problem for Chef Alain to do as as seen via a instagram post it was a family favourite. Soufflés, chocolates and bananas, selection of 6 desserts. Just topped off a magical evening. As always… Will we be back. Of course!

Be the first to ReplyPerfect in every way.
We have been dining au Roux for over 40 years here and at La Gavroche. Everything is always perfect service food ambience and wine. The food panders not to modern fashion which is much to our taste. The service is highly knowledgeable and totally attentive without being at all obsequious. The emphasis is one of total enjoyment for the guest. We are pleased to say that on every single visit that Mr Roux has been in visible attendance which is course the French way long may the tradition continue.
Be the first to ReplyA Culinary Journey by the Waterside
Nestled along the tranquil banks of the river, The Waterside Inn promises an exquisite culinary experience, and it certainly delivers. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were enveloped in an ambiance of sophistication and warmth.
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful time at the Alain Roux Culinary School
My husband and I visited Waterside Inn for the Canapés and Cocktails course at the Alain Roux Culinary School and the experience exceeded our (already high) expectations! From the coffee and pastries when we arrived, everything on the day was perfect. Chef Michael Nizzero provided expert guidance in how to make three delicious canapés and then our time in the well appointed kitchen stations flew by as we cooked our own, ably assisted by Chef Michael’s team. Then it was time to learn about cocktails from the brilliant and entertaining Iakovos Kostantas (definitely make sure you do not plan to drive after this course - there is no stinting on the cocktails!). Finally it was sadly time to leave our kitchen stations to see how the professionals work in a tour of the actual kitchen and then onto the wonderful lunch in the Waterside dining room. For lunch we had the lamb, which was tender and delicious followed by the always perfect soufflé. Overall, the day was just fantastic. We enjoyed every moment and are already looking to see what other courses are on offer. If you are thinking of booking for the culinary school, we would 100% recommend it. And if the cocktails course isn’t available, we would also recommend visiting the cocktail bar at Roux at Skindles to taste the fabulous creations from Iakovos! Many thanks to Michael, Iakovos, Alain Roux and all the team for a brilliant experience.
Be the first to ReplyJust simply food heaven...
My first time at a Michelin starred restaurant, and the Waterside Inn did not disappoint. I was lucky enough to be treated by a special friend who knew the Waterside well. We went as a table of three, and sat at a beautiful large round table. So much space. I loved the little 'footstool' next to each chair which was ideal on which to place your handbag so you don't have to bend to the floor when you need it. It's the little things in life... Staff were incredible, so attentive, not overbearing, always there to top up your glass before you even knew it was needed, impeccably dressed, and knowledgable of the food and wine. The meal was stunning, everything I'd hoped for. The photos peak for themselves. Would I go back? In a heartbeat...
Be the first to Reply5th Enjoyable Stay
For Christmas 2022, unbeknown to each other, my wife and I bought each other the same present - vouchers for an overnight stay at The Waterside Inn and Le Menu Exceptionnel. It’s such a special place and we both love it here. We booked our first visit during the summer last year and have just enjoyed our next visit. Both visits, it must be said, were amazing, as always, and the complimentary room upgrade was a lovely surprise. The staff are attentive but not intrusive and the food as you would expect is sublime. We especially enjoyed the duck consommé under a puff pastry crust (my wife had hers without the foie gras). The only observation I would make is if you buy a voucher for a gift ensure there has been no price increase between the time you purchase it and the time you use it. Only the monetary value of the voucher at the time of purchase is honoured. The vouchers come in a lovely presentation wallet and you just assume you are getting what it says on it. When we settled our bill I queried a £60 additional charge and after a somewhat embarrassing 10 minutes or so (as no one seemed to know why this had been added) we was informed the menu had increased by £30 to £265 pp. Unfortunately I didn’t see this in the t&c’s but do feel it is not the best policy to enforce upon guests, at least without prior explanation.
Be the first to ReplySolo Sunday
Had a free Sunday and fancied a good lunch. So called up on the off chance they would have a table for one at any point during the day. And to my luck and surprise within minutes they offered a time and I got on my way. As every other time being here it’s such a wonderful place to eat, even as a solo diner on this occasion. Again as always staff, without fault outstanding and the food well, not one bad thing to say! ALWAYS WORTH THE £!!
Be the first to ReplyAlready desperate to go again!
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay and dinner at the Waterside Inn and already can’t wait to return. Can’t imagine anywhere better for a special occasion. The food, wine, service and setting are all magical. Hope they keep doing what they do for many more decades!
Be the first to ReplySuperb
We were lucky enough to be given a gift voucher so cost wasn’t an issue for us. Dinner with an overnight stay is expensive but it’s a huge treat and so worth it, if you realise that this is not something you would do every day. We had been looking forward to our visit for many months and we would go back once a year, or just once a decade, if we could. As soon as we arrived we felt looked after and very welcome. No fuss, just brilliant, efficient service with nothing too much trouble. Our room was very comfortable with everything we needed. There was some noise from the extractors outside but as long as we kept the bathroom door closed we were fine. Lovely view over the terrace to the river too. But oh my, the food! The meal and wine we enjoyed will stay in my memory for years to come. The lobster is just amazing, meat is of the highest quality and flavours sang off the plate. There is no chance of going hungry either, with little mouthfuls while you are choosing and wonderful petits fours if, like me, you can’t manage dessert. I always look out for how staff are treated and this was an absolute lesson in how to guide younger staff with just a small gesture, encourage them to go beyond the expectations of their guests and, by just a gentle and almost unnoticeable pat on the arm, recognise that they have done well. Fantastic. Thank you everyone. This was the experience of a lifetime.

We recently visited the Waterside Restaurant in Bray, Maidenhead. Absolute perfection. The food, service , location and food were beautiful. I cannot praise them enough. Fantastic value for money for evening meal, taster menu.
Be the first to ReplyJust delightful
In all our visits, over many years, The Waterside sets the standard! Wonderfully presented, beautifully cooked food; complemented by excellent service. Just look at our photo’s.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect birthday celebration!
A flawless experience! Celebrated my wife’s 50th birthday and we had an awesome time. Staff were brilliant and we wanted for nothing. The taster menu and wines were among the best we have ever experienced. Luck enough to get tour of kitchens which were spotless. Beautiful room with outdoor area and a lovely breakfast tray the next morning. Perfect and unforgettable experience
Be the first to ReplyDelivers on every level
From start to finish this establishment performs on every level. If you want ground breaking or pretentious food this is not the place. Classics are that for a reason and this place does them better than anywhere else in my opinion and has been able to bring them bang up to date. The staff, however, are what make The Waterside Inn unforgettable. Friendly, energetic and so so welcoming. Well done to The Waterside Inn for bringing together such a great team! This filters through to the atmosphere which creates a wonderful and relaxed ambiance. Perfect!
Be the first to ReplyNot everything we had hoped for
We came here with high hopes, some of which were met, but some of which really weren’t. Overall, we had a pleasant enough time, but the standards we were expecting weren’t consistent across the whole meal (the tasting menu). Some of the dishes were really very good, (e.g a superb duck consommé), but the main chicken dish we didn’t even finish. The chicken skin was soggy (how does that even pass inspection in a three star restaurant?), the meat wasn’t moist and the celeriac on the side was underdone. The soufflés scored 7/10. Not bad, but a little heavy, and as per a previous reviewer’s comments, we’ve had significantly better dishes at restaurants with fewer (or no) stars. One other factor was the dining room itself. It’s oddly noisy due to the acoustics. Even though the restaurant wasn’t at all full, it felt more like eating in a noisy canteen than in a high-end restaurant. Overall, we were glad we came to check it out, but we left in no hurry to return. Even though some of the dishes were really very good, when balanced against the overall cost, we did not feel this was anything like commensurate with the money spent. With three stars, we were expecting the exceptional, and that just did not happen on this occasion. PS. One other thing. The serving staff were absolutely brilliant. Friendly, attentive, helpful. They were spot on and none of the above comments reflect on them.

Fabulous fine dining experience - It’s a legendary restaurant but the standards never slip, every course on the tasting menu is exceptional. The rooms are lovely, ours had a terrace and view over the river. The continental breakfast served to the room is also an absolute delight, as you’d expect from the Roux family. Perfect location, perfect food, perfect service.

Absolutely superb, in food, wine, service and setting. I’m deducting a star for serving foie gras in a canapé, which I sent back: just choose something less controversial (and cruel). Otherwise, unfaultable. The food was all good … but the starter of poached egg, truffle, asparagus and grains - I’ve never had anything like it, it was pure heaven. The texture changes as you eat it and the tastes are divine. Service was very accomplished yet never stuffy. Expensive - worth every penny (and pound😊)

I think I always knew the food was going to be spectacular, it certainly didn’t disappoint; service was also going to be a little bit special given the family history of this iconic restaurant. What I didn’t expect was the very personable reception from all the lovely young people that served us, especially Molly, she’s a very bright star, Clitheroe’s finest export!!! Thank you for a very special experience.

I have had the pleasure to dine and stay at the Waterside for many years and on this occasion to take my daughter and her fiancé as a pre wedding treat, which was a dream come true! This gastronomic experience is second to none with outstanding presentation and clever flavour combinations to tantalise the palate using a vast array of balanced ingredients. Every morsel was exceptional! The dining experience was enhanced by impeccable service from the whole team who notice every little detail, who were extremely friendly and totally knowledgeable about everything from the food to wines and spirits. They are a complete credit to the restaurant. I cannot afford to dine here frequently but save up to come once a year and have never been disappointed nor made to feel anything other than special. The rooms were also perfect and spotlessly clean. Yes it is expensive but it’s 3 Michelin stars so start saving now for a lifetime memory.

An incredible restaurant, beautiful views and insane food. We came here last night for a special birthday and from start to finish, it was just incredible. We were greeted at the desk by lovely members of staff and shown to our room. The room was gorgeous and there was plenty of space and attention to detail. Once ready, we headed down to the restaurant and were shown outside for a drink before being seated. The views along the river were beautiful and very relaxing. We chose to have the tasting menu, one meat version and one vegetarian and both were absolutely incredible. The food is the best we have ever had. Every single course was beautifully served to perfection. An absolute treat and we can’t wait to return.

Second visit to the Waterside Inn. First visit was excellent but this was even better. Stayed in same room "La Regate" Reception was first class and room perfect. We opted for the "A La Carte" menu this visit and the food was sublime. Service unsurpassed. Great breakfast tray in morning. All in all a Fabulous experience. We definitely intend to return. Can't wait.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a little gem of a place
Decided to leave the confines of the caravan park and headed here for dinner. From the outside of the building it didn’t look busy at all and so we weren’t really expecting much. However, on entering the place was bustling. The atmosphere was amazing, staff were super friendly and attentive and the food was to die for!!! in fact the food was so good we went back for breakfast a few days later and that didn’t disappoint either. Portion sizes were generous to say the least. Wish we had discovered this place sooner throughout our stay as we would have been there every day. Thank you so much to the staff who were absolutely rushed off their feet during dinner service yet remained attentive. The guy and gal on the tills taking orders were equally lovely, the good working relationship between staff members was lovely to witness and provided a relaxed vibe. Would 100% eat here again. And it’s literally a short walk from Waterside caravan park!!

Thank Waterside for another memorable experience.
