The Surf Club located in the Ritz Carlton is an upscale
The Surf Club located in the Ritz Carlton is an upscale experience. Very expensive, but maybe worth it. The ambience is tops. Beautiful place located on the beach in Surfside Florida not far from where the condo tower collapsed a couple years ago. If you want to impress, this spot will make that happen. The food is good, if not necessarily the best. Service was excellent. It was nice just hanging out in the bar in the other restaurant on the premises and watching the people for a bit. Entertaining.

6 of us celebrated a birthday at this wonderful restaurant, which is my 4th visit in 2 years. It just keeps getting better. The surf club may be the outstanding overall restaurant experience in Florida. As one of my friends put it, this is a very adult restaurant. The Decor is exquisite and the level of detail is flawless. The service is old-school, attentive, without being rushed, warm, without being silly, and the food is just beautifully prepared and presented. This is simpler food than L'Atelier de Robuchon, and perhaps not as wild as Jose Andres old Bazaar, but it is refined, with the best quality ingredients and ultimately has tremendous appeal. The wine was good, the Caesar salad outstanding and ceremonially prepared table side. Our group had branding, lamb chops, the ribeye, the pasta with black truffle and the (deconstructed " lobster thermidor and everyone was happy. The mashed potatoes alone were a master class in how to elevate something from simple to sublime. The building is truly special, and I recommend that people arrive early for the reservation and enjoy a cocktail in one of the other bar areas of the surf club you transported to Santa Barbara or perhaps Spain, because it is an incredible restoration of the original surf club from 1926 and it's just magnificent.

My husband and I have gone several times & we are never dissatisfied nor disappointed.

We had dinner here at the bar, the service is exceptional, food was so great and love the ambiance here and the decor!!
Be the first to ReplyOne of my all time favorite restaurants in Miami.
Been coming to this iconic establishment for years now and all I can say is Thomas Keller and his team know EXACTLY what they are doing by bringing you a dining experience like no other. From the setting, architecture, decor, lighting, above and beyond service, and of course the mind blowing dishes they piece together... The Surf Club has it all figured out and continues to do so on a daily basis, night in and night out. We had the French onion dip and kettle chips, deviled eggs, classic Caesar salad (made fresh table side), oysters Rockefeller, lump crab cake, cruditรฉs followed by a Snake River Farms (hybrid Japanese wagyu / black angus) New York strip steak, with whipped potatoes and creamed corn all aside a "buena vista" cocktail and house made coconut cake for dessert (it wasn't you-know-who's coconut cake but it'll do lol).... A M A Z I N G. Everything was done to perfection and tasted better than it looked. Thank you surf club, Thomas Keller and everyone involved for providing such an amazing experience time after time.

We came here for a friend's birthday and had a great time! The ambiance is great, especially the decor. Service was fantastic. The waiter let me know if any item the table ordered wasn't vegetarian (even if it had gelatin). Parking was valet, which was $35, and the drop-off was this hidden driveway with a tiny plaque that I almost missed. At the restaurant, they provided complimentary veggies on ice with dip, which was very tasty! I appreciated it because I was the only vegetarian at the table, so I didn't partake in most of the appetizers. The bread and butter was also delicious. The bread was flaky and warm, almost like a croissant, and the butter came in a cool contraption that was fun to see. I ordered the eggplant parm, and they grated cheese and basil over the top. It was very tasty. We also ordered the seasonal Christmas log, the gelato platter, and the chocolate cake for dessert. The peach gelato was delicious and the best! All the desserts were tasty, and gelato makes everything even better.

Not remotely the level of excellence that was expected from this restaurant. We had to ask the server, lively btw, whether or not the menu was the Michelin menu Food average and the presentation was not impressive whatsoever so ever. Sham.

Service was great; sufficiently attentive without being overbearing . Ambiance- beautiful restaurant, lovely furniture, and clean. Food- absolutely delicious! I've been to three Thomas Keller restaurants this month, and this one has been the most enjoyable. I didn't take any pictures as I was too involved in my conversation with my guest so I didn't take any pictures, but I will come back to this restaurant make up for the lack of pictures. Dinner started off with bread and butter that was presented very nicely as the butter was presented in a metal apparatus when pressed, butter would pop up. The butter was at the right temperature, and the bread was freshly baked. Complimentary raw vegetables (Cruditรฉs) were served which were very fresh and accompanied with a delicious dip. We had some oysters half shell (nothing in particular that was amazing but met expectations; the vinaigrette was amazing though.) The deviled eggs with caviar was also tasty, and classically prepared. We continue with foie gras and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The fettuccine Alfredo with truffle is a great dish to share. You should also try the lobster as it is prepared, extremely well and served with a delicious sauce along with a few surprises that I will leave to your imagination. The coconut cake was also a great choice to end the dinner, as it was sweet, delicate, and light. Considering the food, service, and unique dishes; I feel like the price point was appropriate so this place gets five stars for hitting all the marks! I don't give fives out very generously, so this is definitely well-deserved.
Be the first to ReplyParking: Valet is available at a reasonable price.
There isn't street parking nearby. The valet service is prompt, professional and well dressed. Also, when you pull up, it looks like a castle. The valet guy opens two huge doors and you feel like you are walking into a huge palace! Drinks: Drinks where delish. The bartenders are super nice and they dress like they are from back in the 50's. They look like they are in a speak easy. Food: Okay, this is a FOOD EXPERIENCE! We had chips/dip, ceaser salad, brussel sprouts, Dom Perignon, crudite, truffle, potato wedges, ribeye, new york strip, salmon, creamed spinach and a sampling of all the desserts. The MVP goes to the DOVER SOLE. It isn't easy to find Dover Sole in the US but they found it and they did it well. It was possibly the best Dover Sole I've ever had. It was priced at $130 but it is actually for two - so $65 isn't bad for an entree! Service: It was a 9/10. The place was packed and we still felt important :) Atmosphere/Vibe: So this is certainly a FANCY place. The place is not cheap and neither is the crowd. Cartier, Rolex, Patek Phillipe, Prada, Tiffany, Vercase, etc will all be flashed in your face. So don't wear your sweatpants. Come dressed to impress! Age Group: All ages so good for everyone Return: For sure!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat special occasion diner.
Wait staff wonderful. Very pricey and Note they automatically add gratuity its called a service charge so don't make the mistake of leaving what you think is gratuity and end up leaving a 40% tip.

This restaurant is so nice! They deserve that Michelin star! The have different ambience (outside & inside) both beautiful! Don't forget to Make your reservation in advance, they are always booked! The service is amazing. They take care of every single detail. The staff is very friendly too! The Cesar salad was delicious. That is a must! The oysters were very interesting. The combination of flavors, fresh and presentation 10/10! The pasta was unreal! I was soft, delicious and if you like black truffle that is your best option. We also had the steak, 10/10!!! And the coconut dessert mmm!!!! So so so good! Keep in mind that the portions are small.
Be the first to ReplyDined here yesterday for a celebratory meal.
We arrived early for a 9:15 reservation, which was probably too late for this experience.. yes, this an experience and not so much a restaurant. Our table in the Banyan Room "wasn't ready" so we had a cocktail each in their LOVELY bar that plays old school type jazz music and is such a vibe. I low key think they make all reservations have a drink in the bar and honestly (even though I hate waiting on a reservation), I am really glad they did. It was a lovely experience and our cocktails were excellent. After waiting about twenty minutes, we were seated in the Banyan Room, more of a Palm Beachy vibe but beautiful with big comfortable banquettes. The whole vibe of the hotel and restaurant area is classy, sophisticated and beautiful. Not overly stuffy but not a friendly atmosphere either. We definitely over ordered and opted for - chips with onion dip and deviled eggs from the snacks. The deviled eggs were great but the chips were overly salty and the dip tasted mainly of sour cream. We also ordered the scallop crudo- this dish was one of the stars of the night. It's fresh and beautifully plated but also exquisite. We ordered the warm egg. This dish was good and different but definitely not a crowd favorite and not as memorable as the Alter egg. They bring one bread roll per person which is a delicious parker house style roll. They also bring a platter of cruditรฉs that comes with this delicious little lemon dipping sauce. Honestly, that sauce was WAY better than the onion dip. We also ordered the beef wellington with the sides of Pasta alfredo with black truffles, brussel sprouts, and candied bacon. While the pasta was perfectly cooked and deliciously creamy, it was way overly salty. The candied bacon was actually like a candied pork belly. It was good but not delicious and the brussel sprouts were pretty standard. The Beef Wellington on the other hand was one of the most delicious entrees with a perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth piece of short rib surrounded by a perfectly baked and delicious bread and then accompanied by some delicious sauce- WOW! Until we tried the Beef Wellington, I wasn't sure this was a Michelin Star restaurant. The meal however was never rushed, it was extremely well timed and with cohesion. Our waters were never even half full, every person was knowledgeable, helpful and an absolute joy, including and especially FREDDY - the best addition to our meal. He brought out and carved our Wellington. We finished with the most perfect chocolate soufflรฉ. We will definitely be back for the elegant vibes, great cocktails, excellent friendly service (Freddy), scallop crudo and Beef Wellington-- and you should too. And if you're concerned about booking the Banyan room, don't be. It was lovely in there and the vibes in the Surf Club are unparalleled. You honestly forget you're in Miami, much less North Beach. Go splurge and thank me later.
Be the first to ReplyTK is truly our favorite chef and restaurant creator.
So you can imagine our disappointment with literally every aspect of our Surf Club experience. Where to begin ...The decor was unimpressive, cheap, and vibeless. Our menu was poorly folded like a shot-gun DYI wedding invitation, sloppy, tattered, bent, and stained. We were treated like a total inconvenience for the entire night. Not sure if it was because we weren't staying at the 4 seasons or because we had the last 9:30 seating. We did arrive early to have a drink at the Champagne bar, but since there were many open tables, we were seated by 8:50. We ordered the oysters, Caesar salad, beef tips, and filet mignon. The oysters were magnificent. Truly the highlight of the night. When we asked for horseradish, a server came over with a huge fresh root, and grated it right on our plates. Lovely, but certainly a low bar for the culinary expectation of excellence at a TK restaurant.Next the Caesar salad. The website and reviews strongly highlighted the tableside prepared salad. We couldn't wait to experience the artful, nostalgic times when proud, dedicated staff prepared appetizers and meals tableside. The Surf Club menu and reviews boasted to reclaiming the lost art of the gueridon Caesar salad service. It was a must order.Unfortunately, I went to the restroom, only to return to a cold plate cradling a sad state of pre-made salad. When I asked the waiter why it was not prepared tableside, he annoyedly answered and randomly pointed towards the kitchen "It was prepared over there. I couldn't bring the cart out, there is no room." In disbelief to his rude and flawed response, I responded "There is no one in the restaurant. You can prepare it tableside". He simply said it was prepared and walked away. The salad was limp and obviously prepared earlier in the day with no intentions of being made tableside. The beef tips and filet were adequate, but lacked creativeness and definitely not Michelin star worthy. So yes, we give The Surf Club a one star based on a poorly presented dining room and menu which immediately showed a lack of attention to detail. Yes we give The Surf Club a one star based on the omitted prepared tableside Caesar salad which disappointedly showed a total disregard for our overall food quality and dining experience. But the biggest reason for the one star, was our waiter's attitude. During our entire dining experience, we were treated like one big inconvenience ... our $1,200.00 dining experience was coming between him and his ending shift which grossly showed a complete lack of management. We have never experienced these qualities in any Michelin star restaurant, much less a TK restaurant.

Yesss! Finally a south Florida restaurant that meets my expectations! From the minute you walk into 4 seasons you are greeted until you're seated! The vibes are amazing and very romantic! There was a pianist and great music playing. Now the food, yum!!!! They give you complementary bread and vegetable crudities! I'm a pescatarian, so it was easy to order items from the menu but there's something for everyone! We got a sampler and branzino! Worth every dollar and I'll be back!
Be the first to ReplyThe service was impeccable.
Everyone was so nice and the food was delicious! The pasta was out of this world and the filet was perfectly seasoned and prepared. Highly recommend the vegetable Louie to start, as it was fresh and tasty.

With GREAT disappointment I feel it has to be knownThis was my 3 time dining at beautiful Surf ClubWe started with leeches martini that was watery with a piece of lemon They didn't have octopus for appetizer, we asked for cezar salad Was yellow , instead of green & crispy My sea bass looked like "old burned tilapia " I was almost in tearsWaiter confirmed that was sea bass . I refused to eat after I tastedI asked for a veal chop & waited like 30 min Was delicious Small side orders of "90% potatoes " & spinach had no taste Instead of dessert we ordered Alfredo pasta, that was very salty Our bill was over $700 (732.79 )for party of 4Valet was $35 per carWe got $10 discount eachWith great sadness we are not going to miss that restaurant

The location is beautiful, being connected to the Four Seasons, and it met all expectations on this front. We had run about 20 min late due to traffic and they were very accommodating when we arrived. The appetizers were very good and the vesper I ordered was on-point. Only reasons I'm knocking a star:1. Ordered the fish and had bones in my first bite.2. It's a Thomas Keller restaurant and I was expecting more Thomas Keller, yet this felt like more of an upscale steak house. All very good food and would be a great location for dinner.
Be the first to ReplyTLDR: ambiance 5/5; service 5/5; quality 4/5; food 4/5
TLDR: ambiance 5/5; service 5/5; quality 4/5; food 4/5 SETTING: made a reservation here for a Thursday night at 9:30pm. The restaurant is gorgeous and on the first floor of the beautiful and opulent Four Seasons Hotel. There are large booths, big round tables and comfy seats; and a floral, Venetian kind of decor. Beautiful space for dinner of any occasion. The restaurant was completely full when we were seated. As other reviews mention there are three kinds of room to book- we booked the club room, which I believe is the main room that's very nice. FOOD: we ordered the classic Caesar salad (2 for 4 people), the deviled eggs without caviar and the fettuccine Alfredo truffle pasta for our appetizers. The Caesar salad is delicious and expertly made right at your table. The deviled eggs were just okay... nothing to write home about especially without caviar. And the truffle pasta was demolished. So decadent, yet light, and savory. For our main courses we were debating heavily but the meat portions left for the night were 60-70oz only so we went with the beef Wellington, ribeye, and Dover sole. The beef Wellington was the first I've ever had and it was extremely rich and fatty. Very delicious but not necessary to order. I didn't get to try the sole or ribeye but both looked well cooked and were polished off.SERVICE: service was excellent and I loved our server, who was very helpful in telling us what was good, and what we could do without. He was always available to answer questions, or order more food from and was a great help!VERDICT: dinner was quite expensive for four people for not that much food (and not that much drink). To be honest, I've had better food elsewhere at a cheaper price point. So come here for the ambiance and a special occasion, but don't expect to walk out thinking you've had the best food of your life! Worth the visit, but not worth the wait.
Be the first to ReplyI expected to enjoy the food much more than I did.
The ambiance, service and overall experience is lovely. But, the portion sizes were small and the taste did not impress. My truffle pasta did not appear to have much truffle at all, and it was $52 sans protein. That said, the drinks were good and I would revisit the bar.

The Four Seasons Hotel is likely one of the most beautiful hotels in Miami. Nestled in the Southwest corner of it is the fabulous, Michelin Star awarded, Surf Club. I wish I took more photos because it was certainly like dining in a photograph. From the table settings to the lighting, everything was so gorgeous. We shared the chopped salad that had the best bacon folded into it. My husband had an incredible rib eye for dinner. It was cooked to perfection and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.I selected the creamy and decadent fettuccine alfredo. We finished off the meal with espressos and a chocolate cake that was surprisingly not too sweet. We had a wonderful time here and look forward to returning.

You want 5 start food, service and ambiance? You're at the right place. It's always fantastic to dine at one of Thomas Keller restaurants. We started with all the snacks, table side caesar, for our mains we went with the truffle fettuccini alfredo, lamb chops, branzino, veal parm and finished with a spread of all the desserts. Can't forget to mention that the entire staff was great, Thomas who made our table side salad and presented us with the dessert spread was just the nicest and very knowledgeable. Can't wait to visit again!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food, Drinks, And ServiceI did say great food.
It was. It wasn't necessarily Keller status great (been to most of his restaurants), but it was pretty good. Dessert and drinks stole the show as we sat outside and had an amazing bartender. Great personality and went above and beyond for all those sitting at the bar. Not sure his name, but some sort of latin guy with a beard.Food:- French Onion Dip was AMAZING.- Deviled eggs were eh/just okay. - Caesar Salad was definitely lacking. - Crab Cake was astonishingly mediocre. Bummer. Nice presentation, but tiny and not even tasty. I actually didn't even want to eat it. - Lobster Bisque was more of a soup with lobster. Needed cream. It was good, but not what we were expecting. If it were called something else, I think we would have enjoyed it. But calling it lobster bisque... set the expectation for Lobster Bisque.Anyway, drinks were superb. Can't remember the names and I don't see the cocktails listed online. I will say... one of the drinks was some sort of Pear drink.... not great. But the other drinks made up for it. And the bartender's service and DESSERTS more than made up it.All in all, we'll probably be back. Setting/atmosphere, staff - all 10/10. Food: 8/10Drinks: 9/10
