The restaurant decor is nice and provides an upscale vibe. I also appreciate that there was an option for a tasting menu as well as a la carte. The wines by the glass menu was small and only had five options for red, all priced in the $20 to $28 range for what I found to be a short pour. Service was good. I liked that an amuse bouche and bread with butter were provided complimentary. My meal is where things went wrong. For an appetizer I ordered the tuna tartare. It came with saffron rice (why?) and so much yuzu that it tasted like marmalade. The yuzu was entirely overwhelming. Next was the beef tataki. It came with edamame, large chunks of tofu, a hard boiled egg, pickles, and a huge ring of mustard. It was a very disjointed dish. At least the beef was quality but the rest of those ingredients were unnecessary. Up next was the grilled lobster with parsnip purée and yes, more oddly placed edamame. The lobster and purée were good but didn't go well with the edamame. At the end of the meal, each table is brought a complimentary cone of cotton candy. Strange but fun. Overall I was unimpressed with Sea by Alexander's ingredient pairings but the quality of the meat and seafood was obvious. Perhaps I'll give it another try in the future if the menu changes.
