This was our first time for afternoon tea here.
I've had tea at hotels and a local tea room but felt this place was better except for one place in Canada. The atmosphere is very nice with a gorgeous dome ceiling. I remember the City of Paris store at this site in my childhood with that beautiful dome. Staff especially Charlie, our wait staff was very nice. We started off with a warm consommรฉ which was a wonderful clear broth in a small cup. Our teas, Earl Grey and Camomile were good but I've had Earl Greys where it tasted more floral. The popovers were large and nice and fluffy and good with the strawberry butter. Finally the 3 tiers of food arrived. The top with an assortment of sweets, tiny bites of cheesecake, lemon tart, macaroon. The next level was the savory with a really good curried chicken salad in croissant, ham meat in tiny buns, cucumber sandwiches as well as salmon sandwiches. The bottom level were 4 scones, 2 each cheddar chive and ginger scones. They came with lemon curd and butter. We took our time and spent 1.5 hrs eating and sipping tea. I enjoyed the food so that I'd love to make a return visit.

Came for afternoon high tea and was great! We made a reservation and wasn't too busy. We got seated right away and was beautiful inside and helped it was a nice sunny day outside too. Food and service was quick and prompt. There weren't many tea options for afternoon tea. I expected a large assortment of options and they were out of 1 of them. The food was all great and way better than expected. Started with a popover with strawberry butter. It was so light and love popovers. The scones, sandwiches, and desserts were all delish too. Good texture, flavor, fresh, and all was really filling. Everything was good but wish the tables were a bit farther apart. Seated next to some other ladies and felt like we were in their conversation. It was a bit too close for comfort. It's a good deal for high tea and would check it out again tho.

I made afternoon reservation a few weeks in advance for my MIL birthday tea service for 3 people. We checked in at 2:15pm even though our reservation was for 2:45. I was pleasantly surprised they seated us right away and next to the gorgeous window. I was hoping they were going to do that but didn't request it. The waitress came over and she explained the add on menu and the choices of teas . We added a Caesar salad to share and it was plenty for all of us. Then the waitress brought out popovers with strawberry flavored butter. So soft and airy. I was amazed by the elegant three tiered tray was so many delicious options. The apple scone with lemon curd was my favorite. Also, the salmon with caviar was memorable. Not to be outdone by the chicken curry sandwich on a croissant. I'm so glad I made this trip to the city for this unbelievable occasion.

I came here for a work lunch and was pleasantly surprised! The waiters were very friendly and made great recommendations for the wine and food. The seafood tower had lots of variety and everything tasted very fresh. The mini Tabasco bottles were so cute and a must have for the oysters. We also ordered the truffle fries and baked Brie (not pictured) that were both delicious as well. The lobster and shrimp risotto was delicious but very filling. I took the majority of my food home and it was still yummy the next day! I saw some people having afternoon tea which looked fun and I definitely want to try next time.

This is a great restaurant with an incredible view from the top floor. The ceiling dome is beautiful and looks like something out of a museum in Italy. My wife and I came for lunch and we had a nice experience. I enjoyed their complimentary puff bread with strawberry butter along with their chicken consommรฉ served in a small tea cup. These are excellent starters. For our main dishes, we loved their truffle fries and calamari. I've never had calamari like this one; it is served freshly grilled without the breaded coating. It was delicious and was paired with this nutty spice sauce that's almost like an olive tapenade. I would definitely come back for these again. We want to come back again to try their tea time tower that has small goodies and sandwich bites.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Food but Terrible Service.
Asked a couple question to the waitress and she gave us this look and in a very arrogant manner said "everything is written on the menu...." then we ordered some coffee and when it came out she held the coffee at the end of the table just standing their...... waited for us to clear the table, make room AND we had to reach to her to grab the coffee... again in such a arrogant manner she just stood their.... and kept saying "here's your coffee..." with no gesture of serving just STANDING at the edge of the table. If you had a bad day take your day off and don't ruin other people's day.

Always excellent and that includes the service, this restaurant understands the value of being on point when serving folks. We were on our way to Dune at the Metreon and walk down to the rotunda for a quick bite to eat. I was slightly worried as we did not have a reservation in this place fills up, but generally speaking, you can get into a few of the tables they have near the bar or at the bar without a reservation Our waiter who was also the bartender I cannot say enough good things about. We had the margaritas which were excellent. He had almost insisted that we try the new calamari and since we both love it, we ordered it and it is out of this world, one of the best dishes I've had at this restaurant we finished with a amazing salmon over beets and I had the fresh Dungeness crab with shrimp Louie. Super amazing food as always this place never disappoints. I have not been here for their tea service as I am gluten intolerant. I do see the reviews are a little mixed on that, but I can absolutely tell you the lunch services just beyond.

The Rotunda at Neiman Marcus is a lovely experience full of history and elevated surroundings. We went in with a reservation around 3pm on a Saturday and it was hopping with people, ladies dressed to impress mixed with tourists. We wanted a banquette booth but got a smaller table instead. No problem, we understand. The views of union square and that stained glass ceiling were worth it. The tea service was what excited me. I love a mix of a lot of small things and this delivered and then some. We ordered the standard service and chose our tea. The servers are efficient, friendly enough, and swift and supportive. Our server had a LOT of cologne on and that could not go un-mentioned. So much that I have to take a star off for it. We started with a warm popover with strawberry butter, and a small cup of consommรฉ! Delicious! I recently learned that consommรฉ is considered a Luxury soup due to the preparation it takes to make. Very nice touch with consommรฉ as the amuse bouche. The tower of treats were all very good and the mini desserts were spectacular. Even with the small sizes on the desserts (there were multiples to try) we ended up taking scones back to our hotel room. I can't wait to go back and I highly recommend the tea experience here!

I've come here several times for the afternoon tea, which is consistently very good, but today we sampled other menu items. The cheeseburger was well-prepared, cooked medium as requested. But the star was the swordfish special - so succulent and perfectly prepared! Will return to try more items on their menu. The wait staff was very attentive, and we had a lovely window seat overlooking Union Square on a bright sunny afternoon. Bliss.
Be the first to ReplyService was pretty good.
Food was a little under seasoned but that's a subjective thing. Served me a cup with lipstick stains but immediately changed it.

I visited The Rotunda during the holidays with my family for afternoon tea, and I must say it was a great experience overall. We initially had trouble getting a reservation at other locations, but the concierge at Nieman's was able to secure one for us quickly. Pro tip: book early if you want to do afternoon tea.Upon arrival, we had to wait for about 5 minutes before being seated. Although our experience was affected by a strange odor in the restaurant, the view of Union Square from our table near the windows was beautiful. The chicken consomme and popovers provided were soothing and delightful, and the tea setting which included sandwiches, scones, and dessert was more than satisfactory - it was tasty and well-prepared.The staff's service was exceptional, and they even provided our kids with a gingerbread person decorating kit, which added a nice touch to the experience. Overall, The Rotunda is a great place to have afternoon tea in San Francisco. Just make sure you make reservations, especially during the holidays. I definitely recommend it, despite the odor issue we experienced.
Be the first to ReplyThe rotunda is a special place.
Beautiful ambiance and delicious food. Service was impeccable as well. A little pricey but to be expected with the view of Union Square. We had the tuna tartar, truffle fries to start. Both yummy and filling. We could have stopped there but we didn't. For entrees we had the lobster club sandwich and fish sandwich. Both were delicious. I would like to come back for the tea service.

I brought my best friend here for her birthday as a surprise date and I was so pleased. Making a reservation was super easy and we're both vegetarian and that was easy to add in as a special accommodation as well when I made the reservation. We got the afternoon tea and we picked two teas: jardin bleu and nuit a versailles. Both teas were incredible, each with a hint of sweetness but the green/black tea leaves shining through on flavor. We were started off with bread and some butter. Our assortments of pastries, sandwiches, etc. were all vegetarian and honestly was SO pleasantly surprised with how good they were. Starting from the bottom, we got some herbed scones and cranberry scones. Both of which were amazing. I particularly liked the herbed ones since they were incredible unique. They were accompanied by a strawberry jam and lemon curd, both were great! The next tier had croissant sandwiches with avocado, mayo, and spring greens. These were delicious! I loved how creamy the sandwiches were. The finger sandwiches assortment was: roasted eggplant, beet, and fresh tomatoes. The roasted eggplant sandwich was so good, I think it had some capers as well and maybe some roasted cumin, it was delicious! The beet sandwich was also very good and felt nice and fresh, similar to the tomato sandwich. The top tier had an assortment of sweets: early grey macarons, chocolate dessert of some sort, lemon meringue, cream puffs, berry curd dessert. All of them were exquisite.By the end of the tea, we were so satisfied and full that we had to end up taking some of the pastries home. The selection is quite filling so definitely come ready to eat!Service was amazing and very attentive and when I told them it was my friends bday, they brought out a complimentary dessert with ice cream and cookie with a lit candle in it! Ambience was also very nice and the views make for a beautiful backdrop for pictures!I will definitely be coming back again :)

I've had the Rotunda at Neiman Marcus bookmarked for such a long time on Yelp! Probably for a few years! I finally had the chance to check it out for brunch with my friend a couple of weekends ago.I had been wanting to try out their high tea, unfortunately we came a bit too early for that so we just ordered from their regular menu instead. The place is just gorgeous! I love the glass ceiling and the beautiful view of Union Square! I bet this would be the perfect place to watch the SF Tree Lighting during the holidays! They used to have a Neiman Marcus cafe in Walnut Creek which I visited a couple of times. I loved their popover bread. They serve that here too but unfortunately the popovers at this location were stale. It tasted as if it were a week old! Aside from the popovers the food got better. My friend and I shared an order of their Truffle Fries $12 as a starter, this was so yummy! Loved it and the aioli dip it came with. For my main entree I got the Fillet of Fish Sandwich $25, which is pretty much an elevated bougie version of the McDonald's sandwich haha. I really enjoyed it, and I ordered it with a side salad and louie dressing which was delightful! I got a Rotunda Orange Blossom cocktail to go with my food and this one was sweet and refreshing. I'd recommend ordering it. My friend got the Braised Short Rib $38, I got to try a piece of it and we both thought it could use some sauce haha. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. We loved the ambiance of the place. It's classy and all around fabulous! Let's just say, if the ladies from "Sex and the City" lived in San Francisco, they'd be stopping here for one of their lunches!
Be the first to Replyi had a pleasant lunch at the rotunda.
there was a lot of traffic going there because of a parade so i found it best to park at the 5th and mission garage and walk to the restaurant. i had the matcha latte and also the customary popovers with chicken consume. raw oysters were good, truffle fries average. lobster bisque very rich and strong tarragon flavor which i didn't mind. i had the shrimp and lobster risotto as my entree and it was incredible. there was generous amounts of seafood the the rice was cooked perfectly.i had the neiman marcus cookie to go because i was so full. the cookie is quite good and has a sort of coffee flavor (?) i can't pin down. service was lovely as well; i was 40 minutes late because of traffic and they still accommodated my party.

We order duck confit salad (daily special) and burger with truffle fries. We loved the truffle fries the most! Duck confit was also very good. If you plan to go, make sure you reserve in advance so you can get a window seat with a view of the Union Square.

My partner surprised me by taking me here while we spent the day in SF! We did the afternoon tea which was well worth the price. You pick your tea, and get a small pot of it. The food tray came with scones, biscuits, pastrami sliders, smoked salmon bites, chicken crossaint, cucumber and cream cheese sandwich bites, and top tier was full of bite size pastries. Everything was delicious!!! I dislike pastrami generally, but the sliders were delicious as well. My partner doesn't eat beef, so they substituted for a beet slider which she loved! The view was amazing! The stained glass ceiling was beautiful and it felt lovely to sit and enjoy the ambiance. The service was good, it was not exceptional. Not too memorable but I was hoping for a little better explanation since it was our first time here of how the afternoon tea menu works. This is the perfect spot for a date, a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion. Loveeee! I'll definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance.
. whenever you go here, you're treated like one of the classy people with high rank in society . one of the things I like with Uncle Sam - equality even if you're a Corporate person or not, as long as you pay your meal ! The food are not much of a menu which is great as you focus on critical few, ensure the food quality and taste and focus on improvement. That coffee, that consommรฉ, that Kouign-amann - (2 for the road)similar to puff pastry - the first offer that attracts you. And again, that lobster roll and crab melt, what else can you asked for?.. Before that, we also had tuna tartare - which has really fresh tuna to taste and blended well with avocado, and of-course that oysters (not sure if miyagi or kumamoto). (The only minor one is that corner area where we sat on our visit, smells something like a clothes that didn't dried up well smell on that sofa for 5 people). Over-all, kudos to the host, friendly server, observed the bussers and food runners doing their job well.

I got on a call with the manager where I took time to provide feedback per their request. They probably didn't think I'd do it. He said he'd remedy my experience if I sent him a photo of my receipt. I did, and followed up, and 10 months later, still ignored by the social care team.

Great experience. Good food . I really enjoyed myself.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is the prettiest location for a birthday, bridal
This place is the prettiest location for a birthday, bridal shower, Mother's Day celebration or everyday lunch. It's very extravagant and a good place for photos too!We did the afternoon tea which is $54 each for a gorgeous assortment of sandwiches, savory items, and pastries with your choice of tea. I didn't think the food would be enough to fill us up at first but I was surprised at how full I was! Mainly because a lot of the food items include large chunks of bread, lol! They also give you bread before your food arrives so it's like several servings of bread throughout your dining experience.Location:Okay, so as far as the location goes, it's literally INSIDE of Neiman's on the fourth floor but it also has its own entrance on Geary. We parked inside of the Union Square parking garage which is $10. If you're booking for the afternoon tea, it's smart to get your reservation waaaaaay ahead of time because it was difficult to get a reservation for the actual day that I wanted because we waited last minute. Weekends get booked quickly. Afternoon tea starts at 2:30pm, so be quick! The tea options are the regular afternoon tea that is $54/per person and it's $73/per person for the second option that includes champagne.
Be the first to ReplyA very pleasant experience for afternoon tea, I just took 1
A very pleasant experience for afternoon tea, I just took 1 star off for the price tag. I made a reservation on OpenTable in advance after reading reviews that this place gets booked sometimes for months. I arrived right on time and was seated as a party of one in a cozy nook by the stairs facing the open balcony. I had a very nice view of the original stain glass ceiling! The waitress knew I was there for afternoon tea and promptly offered me a menu, explaining that I would start with a consommรฉ of chicken broth. I selected the chamomile tea which came piping hot. After a few minutes of waiting, some other servers set up my silverware and poured me a glass of water. I got the consommรฉ which was served in a small little teacup - my first time trying, it was salty but a clear broth. Then I was served a popover with strawberry butter (which paired excellently). The popover had a nice airy and appropriate bake, just a little messy to eat and tear with my hands.I received my tower of treats next which was surprisingly filling. I started at the base tray with the scones (one sweet cranberry, one savory chive). It came with a strawberry jam, lemon curd, and mascarpone cheese (my first time eating - very plain no-taste). The scones were perfect, I really enjoyed the softness of the interior. The middle tray came with 2 sandwiches (mini roast beef slider, chicken salad croissant) which were decent, as were the cucumber toast and smoked salmon toast. By this point, I was really full but had to finish the top tray which was sweets: a mini pistachio cream-filled eclair, lemon meringue, macaron, raspberry cream puff, and a lemon curd tart with fresh berries. Service was nicely paced and not rushed. I felt well attended to.
