Best Afternoon tea experience!
Having booked our experience with the staff at The Sheraton, it was a smooth process to do so (even only a day notice). On arrival, you are greated then seated to your table; in which shortly after seated you are then given the Afternoon tea menu, which has a vast amount of teas to choose from. We chose from the Rare Teas ; Royal Zafrani (black tea) and the Special Formosa (Green tea). Both were very nice, especially the Formosa with its floral notes. We were serviced by Vaish who was attentive, polite and very clear with explaining all of the sandwiches, jams and the lovely cakes. This was our second time here; with the service standards kept very high. All of the staff were on hand to help; whether that be replenishing us with more sandiwches and scones. And if you would also require more hot water for the tea. We had the Champagne afternoon tea; which was brilliant! It is very cosy, warm atmosphere and you are not rushed at all. Of course we will be back, maybe sometime in the summer :)

Had afternoon tea at the Palm Court. Food and tea were excellent. Great of teas to choose from. Service was fantastic; very friendly and attentive. In particular Efreh was lovely. Highly recommend

Vaish (V) and her team were absolutely amazing. Booked a visit for my nephews Birthday, and they were incredible professional and attentive during our visit. Really made his day. The afternoon tea we requested was how we initially expected, and discovering they had a halal option certainly made a big difference. Overall a brilliant experience and will certainly recommend them to friends and clients. Thank you all for the wonderful experience and hope to back in the near future.

Lovely attentive staff, plenty of tea and asked if we wanted the food replenished several times. Fab place. Maria was so friendly

I had a very special time during my afternoon tea at the Palm Court. Art Deco style venue gently boasts with it's delicate brilliance. Vaish was my host and her warm smile, kind approach, professional manner and recommendations made me feel truly welcome. A special Thank you also extends to Salman Ullah, the venue manager. I would highly recommend this beautiful place!

Be the first to ReplyLovely afternoon tea in a great place
Our afternoon tea was lovely - tasty sandwiches, beautifully light warm scones with cream, jam lemon curd, apricot preserve, and cakes that were as scrumptious as they were beautiful. All very high quality food and we were offered more sandwiches and more champagne if we wished. A lovely location in this grand art deco setting. The thing that really set it to 5 stars though was our waiter Efren, who was charming, courteous and jolly. He really made it into a great experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service, proof that people are the ultimate asset for any business.
Such a great experience, the food was delicious and varied, and the tea was very experiential. Above all else, the staff were amicable, generous, extremely courteous and actively attentive. While all the staff were great and contributed to a lovely time for our family, EFREN was exceptional in his personableness, affability and, if it makes sense, dignified customer service that was truly in keeping with the amazing decor and spirit of the Palm Court.

The cleaning service was great, our stuff was untouched. The bartender, Rommel really helped with the experience of our trip to london. He had many recommendations, was very friendly and a really good bartender.

We had an afternoon tea at Palm Court. It is at the middle of ground floor of the hotel, so there are quite a bit of traffic on the side. It is a small place, so the tables are set to be quite close to one another. A pleasant surprise is that sandwiches and scones can be replenished.

A Great Gadsby feel, with a sense of great British tradition. Amazing afternoon tea experience at The Palm Court. The place never fails to impress no matter the occasion. The staff is more than welcoming and held to the highest standards. We were looked after by the amazing Rave and Kalin. They made sure to make every moment we spent that afternoon at the Palm Court memorable. It’s hard to impress two Americans and get them to bow to British sophisticated traditions; I have to say The Palm Court’s won them over. They’re still raveling about the experience, the environment, the food, and the service. I look forward to experiencing the Special edition of the Afternoon Tea to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. I’m sure I’m in for a treat.
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon Tea. Sadly disappointing. Very poor service.
We were a family group looking forward to a happy afternoon together. Unfortunately this was marred by very brusque and unfriendly service from our server. We we also overcharged; 2 of our group were offered tea when we sat down; it was not unreasonable to expect tea with afternoon tea. However this was added to the bill as an extra despite us saying we already had tea when the order was taken. Maybe the feeling of disappointment is greater because I have compared the experience to many others I have had in a variety of London hotels over the years. One shouldn’t have to ask for tea to be refreshed or fresh cups to be provided. No hot water was provided for top ups. The tea when it did arrive was not hot, as tea absolutely should be. The food was generally tasty although portion sizes felt mean and when we did ask for refills ( clotted cream for the scones, for example) they were delivered to the table very rudely. I will definitely not be recommending the Palm Court for Afternoon Tea. The Palm Court itself was a nice space in a good location for meeting friends & family in London.

I went here for last minute afternoon tea. Made the booking about 1 hour before hand and went. Food was amazing! I believe his name Eframe who looked after us and made it really special including refilling our food many times! Recommend it! Thanks so much!

Definitely the place to go for “posh” afternoon tea - delicious finger sandwiches, fresh fruit and plain scones (kept fresh in their own little bag) and exquisite patisserie. Extensive tea menu and all served with a glass of champagne. Staff were welcoming and friendly and our servers Jonathan and Efren were attentive without being intrusive, bringing our order promptly, describing all of our treats and replenishing tea, cakes and sandwiches. Everything was quite lovely and the preserves which accompanied the scones were obviously made in house to a special recipe - very moreish. All in all excellent value in relaxing and attractive surroundings. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

I visited with my family for a Mothers Day afternoon tea and it could not have been a better experience!
From start to finish it was wonderful and we felt very special and so looked after.
The food and drink was wonderful, the atmosphere was lovely and it was a beautiful setting.
Gibrzal & Kalin were wonderful throughout - so a huge thank you to them for making it special!
Fantastic afternoon treat!
We were warmly welcomed from outside the hotel and the warm welcome continued once inside. Staff were polite and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Our afternoon tea was served by Efren and his attention to detail was second to none. We felt really spoiled. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon in a beautiful setting with delicious food. We will definitely visit again!

Visited the palm court after being bought a voucher for my birthday in 2021. The experience was fantastic from start to finish - from email booking confirmation (+1 change due to covid) and accommodating dietary needs - the afternoon tea selection was well presented and filling and staff were on hand to replenish sandwiches etc if we had needed/ wanted too (sadly too full!!) a special mention to Efren who provided excellent customer service throughout our experience, thank you Efren and all of the staff working on Saturday 12th March

We were given a champagne afternoon tea experience as a wedding gift last year, but due to Covid and other reasons, were not able to take it until today.
What a delight! The sandwiches were lovely and the bread so soft! We also have some dietary requirements but the staff could not have been more helpful!
The whole experience was lovely and relaxing! Efren and the team really looked after us, we would definitely recommend!
Sunday Afternoon Tea - Delightful
My friend and I had a wonderful afternoon tea at the Palm Court. We were well looked after by Efren and Marianne and nothing was too much trouble. We had refills on our sandwiches, more scones and plenty of tea. The Masala Chai blend was delicious.
Being so close to Valentine's Day the sandwiches and pastries were of a particularly pink persuasion, however they were very tasty. The cucumber and cream cheese rolls were amazing!
Thank you for a lovely experience.
Afternoon Tea
Just spent a wonderful relaxing afternoon having afternoon tea in the Palm Court restaurant at the Sheraton Grand. The service was immaculate - thank you Efren and Petya for looking after us so well. The food was delicious and well presented. Plenty to fill us up with a 2nd plate of sandwiches and scones (couldn’t get to a 2nd plate of cakes). The lemon curd was amazing. We had the masala chai tea, cherry tea and traditional English Breakfast with a couple of coffee’s to finish. Would highly recommend for a special occasion.

It was nice evening at Palm Court Sheraton. From the beginning it was very warm welcome from staff. Delicious food and we enjoyed nice tea. Jonathan is an amazing waiter, professional and very polite, words cannot describe. He provided very high service and definitely we will come back again. Thank you

My husband and I on entering the hotel we were greeted by Sheikh who knew who we were by greeting us by our names which was very impressive. We were shown to our table and had a choice of where we wanted to sit, It is lovely surroundings for a tea, and I loved the 1920s look and ambience of the Palm Court.
Ruziel was our waitress, and was very helpful and attentive explaining what fillings the sandwiches had and explained that we had hot scones which were in a Palm Court branded cotton bag to keep them warm which 4 different types of filling, and a selection of cakes. It was all so delicious, and the Champagne was amazing and went so well with the tea. The whole experience was such a treat, and a great celebration for our birthdays. Highly recommend.
Disappointed and lesson learnt
On arrival greeted by a pleasant member of staff who presented the hotel as offering high standards but thats where it ended.
We were presented the option of two tables - happy with the first. I took the seat positioned between a partition and the table that became difficult to slide my leg around the other side as the table support was like a giant egg cup filling much of the space under the table therefore making it impossible to easily slide a leg on the other side. We had to adjust the position of the table and that was not easy without making to much attention for our surroundings. Was comfortable another member of staff asked if we were happy with our table or would we like to move to a different one. By that point i was in the seat and wanting to avoid another performance.
We were instructed via the placement of a card to scan a barcode using our phones to view the menu.
After a long wait we were unsure of the options available to us because we had a “experience for two” gift voucher. We were told the voucher covered a glass of champagne or something - at times it was difficult to understand partly because the staff wore masks for their own protection and others.
At this point we noticed two members of staff appeared to be multi tasking the whole afternoon tea experience.
With consideration to covid19 and minimisIng exposure I was quite disappointed to see at one point the waiter explaining the various sandwiches and pastries to one table whilst holding another customers servings in his other hand close to customer. Ive never seen this type of multi serving and made it feel unappealing.
We ordered one herbal tea pot and one English breakfast pot. We were provided with one tea strainer to share between two different teas and had to ask for sugar of which arrived immediately from the near by table that had not been cleared from a previous customer. The teapots are quit heavy and the lid on one did not close correctly due to the quality hinge - one become slightly nervous pouring with the lid open.
Our serving of sandwiches and pastries arrived. The two rows of 4 fingers sandwiches were compactly and inconsistent filled. Usually the crusts are cut off but not here its random. The egg and crest sandwich barely had egg and the second round of sandwiches the sandwich was more of a crest sandwich with a thin spread of egg paste. The second round of sandwiches had the surprise of a reddish colour bread - not sure why we did not have the first time. In general the sandwiches were unappealing and limited in creativity for “afternoon tea”.
The four scones were small in size and hidden inside a cotton roped bag. We were given small servings of a strawberry & apricot jam with limited clotted & custard cream. The quality of the jams and cream were bland in comparison to what one can buy from a local supermarket. We asked for a second clotted cream that ended up being dry and unappetising.
The “fine pastries” had a “end of the day” feel to them. Therefore missed any experience of fresh cream.
Our champagne glasses were half full and unexpectedly the waiter topped them up with a completely different drink to the original. Mixing drinks maybe amusing for some and probably unacceptable to others - faulty towers came to mind!
I requested a second pot of English breakfast tea that arrived fairly quickly. I was offered a clean cup but happy to continue with the same. The waiter poured the fresh pot into my cup but it was transparent hot water. The waiter suggested to leave it for a minute to brew. I was not sure if I was expected to drink the unbrewed hot water in the cup - I just managed to catch the attention of the waiter leaving suggesting the cup needs to changed. The waiter returned with a clean cup and immediately poured the tea. Noticing how clear the second attempt the waiter in a doubting tone suggested the tea was now “perfect”.
There appeared to be a sticker on the floor suggesting a one way system yet hotel guests seemed to ignore such arrangement.
Halfway through what should have been a relaxing afternoon tea experience a customer seated herself on a table near to ours and appeared to need much visual attention to staff and customers. It became apparent she was known customer and wanted to hug the staff but thankfully staff managed to step back. Once provided with a drink the customer was constantly on her phone and frequently walked from her table along the corridor, along the bar area and circled close to ours. Her presence became irritating and disrespectful by her behaviour and lack of consideration of talking on her phone in surroundings that should have been relaxing and COVID safe. Personally customers should be informed phone calls are not permitted in the area and to minimise movement around seated areas to maintain a covid safe environment for all.
Our experience in general was disappointing. It appeared two members of staff were responsible for hosting afternoon tea and had to multi task every task. Customers have expectations and no fault of the staff the hotel did not provide that on our visit.
In comparison to other afternoon tea experiences (reviewed) our visit today was easily bottom of the table for afternoon tea venues.
*** Be aware some photos found on this venue reviewed by others are not associated to this venue! I do believe the square plates and those with appealing sandwich rolls were from the Ritz - take note two hotels in the same road and both use the the title “Palm Court”. Dont get mixed up!!!
