Quick meal of soups, scones and pastries mainly.
Coffee I had was really good for a cafe (non-specialty). Flavors change daily. Service was quick and pleasant. Nice mission and staff.

I love this place so much that I have to stop in the middle of my vacation just to write this review! Love their food but what I love even more, is how they help to feed the homeless and/or those in need. Whether you're a paying customer or someone in need, EVERYONE EATS THE SAME SOUP! Bravo!!!The Wild Olive Tree is located on Nelson Mandela's Place, inside the St. George's Tron Church of Scotland. The lovely cafe is on the main level. You walk in and get seated for table service; or you can order takeout. This is not a Soup Kitchen per se, but if you're a person of need, you can enter via a side door for free soup and hot beverages to go. They have been in operation since 2015, and in their first three years of operation, have given away 12,000 meals and 13,500 hot beverages! Again, BRAVO!!! All profits and donations from the Cafe go to their two charity partners: Glasgow City Mission and Bethany Christian Trust, to support their ongoing work with some of the city's most vulnerable people. The charities also help with work placement and employability training. How awesome is that?!?!The team at The Wild Olive Tree consists of paid staff, volunteers and work placements. This team of people are awesome! The food is homemade and delicious, customer service is so friendly, and they're so thankful for your visit. If I lived in Glasgow, I'd be a regular customer for sure! If you're ever in Glasgow (down the block from George Square), please stop by for a gigantic bowl of delicious homemade soup and scones...you'll be so glad you did!

The staff are volunteers, they're all very lovely! Place to go to for a quick lunch! But be quick because it sells out fast
Be the first to ReplyNice and peaceful cafe.
Scones are great and was pleasantly surprised at the flavour of scones available. I assume many people won't know about it due to its h location but I bet they've walked past it many times.
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful cafe tucked in behind Queen Street station.
It can be a little hard to find but walk into St. George's Church and you cannot miss it. We had a delightful lunch here with one of the best scones - correction, one of the best baked goods - I've ever tasted. Delightful!

A tranquil haven surrounded by the storm of shoppers outside. Food is scrumptious and service with a smile. Well worth the stop for some quiet contemplation.
Be the first to ReplyGreat cafe in the Church of Scotland St Georges Tron.
Great value for money soup and scone good coffee and although in an active church it's a really chilled place to come.

Great cakes and sandwiches here! I always come here when I am in town. I love this cafe. Situated in a church, nice waitstaff, good sandwiches and cakes. Carrot cake and lemon cake are great!

This is a lovely place to have some lunch in the city centre. Although I am in no way religious, the cafe situated inside the church is a nice respite from the busy street outside. I have visited a couple of times now and each time it has been busy but the service is excellent and very quick. The menu is very small, offering just soups, scones and cakes but the limited selection means that what they do offer is of a very high standard. They have a choice of 4-5 soups daily, as well as a selection of about 5-6 scones, including both savoury and sweet choices. For £4.50 you can get a bowl of soup and a scone of your choice. On my last visit I had Thai Sweet Potato soup and a Parmesan and Black Pepper scone. It was a very generous portion for the money and both elements were delicious. The scone is probably the nicest I have ever eaten: you could really taste the salty parmesan. Although it's situated on Buchanan Street, it is easy to miss if you aren't aware that it's there. I would urge anyone to seek it out though - you won't be disappointed.

In the middle of the hustle and bustle of black Friday there is this lovely sanctuary. Staff were friendly and inviting. The home made soup was lovely. The portion was excellent and it was value for money. We'll definitely return. The whole ambience was one of tranquillity.

An oasis on Buchanan Street, an oasis of soup!I'd never been inside the church before and was pleasantly surprised to find this wonderful cafe. It's really spacious and has a peaceful atmosphere with lots of pot plants surrounding the tables as well as their centrepeice olive tree. The menu consists of homebaked scones of various flavours, cakes and soups. There were four different soups on offer with meat, fish and veggie options. They have espresso coffees, teas and lots of soft drinks as well. I had the cullen skink soup and sourdough bread. The portion was huge and the soup was really hearty and tasty. It's great value for £3.50.The staff were really friendly and I think about three people came over and asked how we liked the food so they obviously care about quality here! Definitely a new favourite for me.
