Oldie but goodie
Still hot and happening after all these years! Walked in and told there was an hour waitlist. Went online and got immediate reservation and seated right away! Food is good but if you are a people watcher, even better. Waitress spent more time talking to table next to ours about her education and lofty acting ambition. Overheard there were producers in the restaurant. I just reminisced about late night stops and various meals Ive had there 20 years ago and was happy to see them still around. One of the few nyc staples. Postcard ending was great souvenir.

An authentic restaurant. Not the kind of room made from scratch with fake new old things intended to make people believe in the historic character of the establishment... A room that has truly lived, in the positive sense of the term, with an intelligent arrangement of tables which combines conviviality and a little intimacy. And good, rather classic cuisine.

Nice place, there were several birthday dinners. Overall average, waiters friendly and helpful. For a New York local the food isn't bad, we spent $100 for two with some wine.

You can feel very comfortable here. Authentic French-American bistro cuisine in a stylish environment. Very solid cuisine, young, modern clientele. Fast, friendly service. Also suitable for families.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
Nice buzzy New York restaurant. Cocktails were great and starters were all good. Disappointed by the Mac and cheese which was pretty tasteless and a bit dry. Other entrees steak and mussels were very good. Profiteroles amazing. We were at the restaurant to celebrate a big birthday, sadly the restaurant did nothing to mark this in spite of us alerting them in advance. I guess they don’t feel they have to make the extra effort as the place was packed on a Monday night!

I have loved this restaurant since I moved to New York in the 1980s lol! Always have the steak frites with the bernaise and au poirve sauces. Service quick and efficient, location PRIME tribeca, vibe is still hip after 3 decades! Roya at the door is the chicest and sweetest person one will ever encounter!

Ate here last night. Loved it. Great vibe, service was excellent. Menu options so good it is hard to choose. Moules, delish. Had a simple salad with paillard, also excellent. Onion soup total classic. Would absolutely eat here again. It was a rainy night and this was the perfect dinner.

Steak tartare was good but the martinis are what I will always remember here. Even went up to the bar after brunch to have another. Crown Royal Manhattans Straight Up ! That’s the way to do it here.

It's a restaurant with history and, from what I understand, the most famous neon sign in New York City. It's noisy and busy in a fun way. You can sit outside and inside, and the servers are quick and active in their doings but with a smile. The menu features a lineup of beloved dishes, ranging from chicken paillard and beet salad to burgers and cheesecake, catering to everyone's tastes. The dishes are prepared with adequate attention to detail, and the portion sizes are reasonable and manageable.

Excellent and attentive service. No attitude about answering questions. A very delicate salmon tartare, not fishy and not over spiced. A really incredible espresso martini. Had trout that was perfectly done and delicious. Great all around.
Be the first to ReplyGreat downtown dining
Low key ambiance but really great experience. Very attentive service and the server took each question seriously. The Espresso Martini was just fantastic with a true espresso crema on top. Everyone had fish and everyone had something different. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Only one downside: add another ice cream flavor, coffee would be perfect.

A mainstay in tribeca since the 80's, the odeon is still buzzing. Lovely bar, beautiful people and good food. The salmon was spectacular, but t the steak was just ok. Didn't feel dry aged, neither did it taste like prime beef. But the salmon was spectacular. Great wine menu tho and acceptable prices for tribeca make this a go to spot.

Odeon is a staple of Tribeca. Food is delicious. Menu caters to everyone. I had the Odeon burger and fries - delicious. Vegan choices. Pescatarian. Vegetarian. They have it all. This is a must go when in town.

Cute little place with outdoor seating, nice staff, decent breakfast (liked the Breakfast Club Sandwich), good espresso.
Be the first to ReplyGood option for a dinner in TriBeCa and somewhat of an institution in the area
Great menu choices - great vibe, outside seating options and good quality food. Despite having a reservation we had to wait 15 mins or so and the bar was a bit chaotic but they seemed very busy. The place was rammed. The waiter was very nice but not as knowledgeable about the menu as some others we have experienced. Good fun place though

The Odeon used to be one of our favorite spots for brunch, drinks, and occasionally dinner. We found out about The Odeon about a year after it opened (the 80's). That was before marriage, kids, and a house in the suburbs. My husband and I both worked in the city and were always going to new hot spots with our friends. A close friends boyfriend was a bartender at a "club" and one of his frequent patrons told him about it. I will fast forward over 30 years and we recently dined here for brunch with my son, who is a recent Tribeca resident. His suggestion, as I had totally forgotten about this little gem. We were warmly welcomed upon our arrival and seated at an eh table crowded in between a lot of other tables. Our waiter was terrific, very attentive, and handled my reminiscing with a smile. I ordered the Croque Monsieur and Parmesan Fries. They were both hot, delicious, and great way to start the day. My husband ordered the burger and was a very happy camper. His exact words were "This is not the best burger I have ever had, but pretty close." My son went with the Three Egg Omelette because he wanted it stuffed with his choices. I was keeping my fingers crossed that they still made the sugar donuts and they did! We should have ordered more than one because they were warm, cinnamony, and dipped in the accompanying sauces divine.
Our meal was very good, our waiter was perfect for us, and every staff member was helpful and attentive too. My only complaint was that the tables were to close together and made for many bumps as staff and patrons passed by. We tried to move the table to reduce the bumps for one of us, but there really was nowhere to go. I am glad that my son passes by on his way to work each day as I got to relive a little taste of my younger days!!
Maybe a Revamp?
Have been coming here for years, particularly when I lived in the city in the mid 00's. I came back last year as I always likethe food, but maybe a little update is needed...
Be the first to ReplyOld-fashioned elegance, with service to match
My husband and I used to eat at Odeon when we lived a few blocks away, back in the late eighties. It was wonderful to re-visit this iconic restaurant and find it much the same. We went for Sunday brunch and had superb service, with lots of smiles. Food was served quickly and cooked to our preferences. Everything was delicious. The coffee was as we remembered; nice and strong and just plain good. I ordered the lemon tart for dessert, although part of me worried that it wouldn’t be the same wonderful tart I remembered….but yes, it was! Just as creamy, just as delicious, with that lemon flavor bursting through. We truly enjoyed the experience, especially the staff. Our server was on summer break from Brown, and another server we spoke with was a Trinity student. It was wonderful to be back at Odeon and to see how it has withstood 9/11, the city’s economic woes, and now Covid. Bravo, Odeon!

This is your typical NYC restaurant, always busy, looks lovely but the food is incredibly average. I would go here for lunch but skip dinner for something with more flavour and character.

We had enjoyed the celebration in this place. It was a memorable and satisfying moment we had. Especially the foods served. We will be back here again soon. It was my father's 60th birthday when I treat my family to this fancy restaurant.

I went with a friend this week as I have for the past several weeks and of course it is outdoor seating only. I get the fact that this is less than ideal for the staff and management but feeling pushed out is not the feeling that any customer wants. I asked to order a drink while reading the menu and was told I had to order food at the same time. I did this and asked that she wait awhile before placing the food order so my friend and I could enjoy a couple of drinks and talk. The drinks arrived. The food arrived. The entire process was less than 1 hour. It is very disappointing to feel hurried. The waitress was not friendly at all. She brought the bill and eyed us while we spoke for a few minutes and then decided to leave (forever).

This small and fairly crowded restaurant has a large neon "Cafeteria" sign on the side wall outside; the sign got it right, as the ambiance of this place reminded me of nothing more than an elementary school cafeteria, albeit one with a lively bar scene. Old-looking beige paint, industrial floors, old-appearing and not very inviting tables and chairs crowded fairly close together, plenty of noise. Someone in our group said it looked like it hadn't changed since the 70's, perhaps it hadn't. We were there for brunch and everything we had was perfectly adequate, with some dishes reminiscent of some of the better diners I've been to. Portions are not the least bit generous. (Yes, I understand that's a trend, but some seemed absurdly small). Prices are aggressive. All in all, it was an adequate experience but I don't see myself returning anytime soon.

Happened to be in the neighborhood and realized I had never dined at this classic.
Wonderful environment and welcoming staff.
Enjoyed a great chicken salad sandwich and great coffee.
A vibe-y place for locals and tourists
Be sure to make a reservation if you are going for dinner or be prepared to wait. There is a reason this place is packed. The food is that good. And the retro look and feel of this place made me feel like I was in a different time. Although the restaurant is described as a French brasserie-ish, there are plenty of options if you want good American fare. I had the roast chicken and my husband had the burger/fries and we both very much enjoyed our meals. There is a large wine list and plenty of craft cocktails and beers too. If you are in the mood for a drink, you will have plenty of options. We sat near the bar, which was full of people, and the bar looked like it would be a fun place to have a drink. We had a great server, and no one around us was being rushed out. I wish we knew more about the history of this restaurant. It seems like would have a long and interesting story.
