The Meat & Wine Co Adelaide CBD Reviews from The Last Year
More than you think
The food and service were first rate, I had a quick trick to Adelaide and was treated to this restaurant by colleagues. I must say every time I have been to one of the Meat and Wine Co's I am impressed but the Adelaide venue stands out for atmosphere and service. The food that we shared was first rate and very enjoyable, it's not the cheapest but we shared plates and had a variety of wines that added to the experience.
Warm, welcoming and unique experience
Really impressed with the layout of restaurant with the semi private tables inside the 'rope' dome excellent. The staff service was on point with each able to add something to the lunch, the food was high quality with a menu broad enough to satisfy most tastes (and well presented) and the cuisine provided something unique in Adelaide. Is suited to business lunches and dress up dinner dates
Good food experience
For me the menu sounded expensive BUT the food was perfect. I came out feeling it really was value. No plants about service or food
Out standing service with friendly professional.
Excellent food as well. Ambiance was well decorated.
Business closed a few months ago.
Wanted to try kangaroo, but after traveling all the way Sydney port I was told it's closed. However, the concierge at the hotel told me about Pony on the Rocks which was pretty close. The kangaroo and other foods there were 5 stars.
Fantastic experience.
I went here my final night in Australia and had the kangaroo skewer. It was perfection; the meat was perfectly cooked. My sides were also fantastic; I ordered a side of Mac n cheese, and it was creamy and cheesy. The service was also attentive and were proactive in taking care of anything I needed. I wish I went here before my last night because I definitely would have frequented again. Be sure to make a reservation because this place gets packed.
Fabulous!
We are visitors to Adelaide and picked this on location and a burning desire for steak n chips! We don’t book - just turned up at 2pm. It was a fantastic lunch. Great staff, perfectly cooked steak - incredible fries. Decent wine list and so on. $295 all in for 2 of us. Good value. Clean toilets!! Loved it - highly recommended.
Top rated
Took advantage of a Red Balloon diner for two experience, courtesy of a Christmas present from two of my daughters and had a wonderful experience. Despite reading some rather negative reviews, was very impressed with the whole experience from the moment my wife and I walked in. Lovely decor and ambience with no wait time and very attentive wait staff. Although we had a set menu there were plenty of choices for all three courses. Drinks were organized within 5 mins of being seated and the meal order taken thereafter. Food was wonderfully presented and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.
Great meal
I read about this restaurant and thought I would give it a try. I was very impressed overall, the ambience, the waiting staff and the food were great. I had the rack of pork ribs which was very tasty. Highly recommend.
Average compared to local pub eye fillets, service nice, amenities poor, prices bordering on ridiculous.
For a $69 steak, whilst obviously low priced on their scale of steaks, was pretty average. I chose the salad and was asked what sauce I would like so chose Mushroom, assuming that was what came with the steak, but no $5 thanks mate. Wine sir ? Yes I’ll grab a big glass of Shiraz, $29 sir, no better than the $7 bottle in the hotel I grabbed from Thirsty Camel, Water sir, sparkling or non, non sparkling thanks very polite waitress, $10 thanks for coming. Now at close to my $120 work budget I ditched desert, decided I needed a pee after seeing bill and downing the $10 bottle of water. Toilets a disgrace, pee stains all over the floor, didn’t look like they’d been cleaned all day, not just freshies, dried ones all around the bowl.
Excellent!
Excellent food and service. Gi was very attentive and warm. Food spaced well, great selection of wine. Recommend the calamari as entree!
Never disappointed
Absolutely love a dinner at the Meat and Wine Co. I ordered the aged New York on the bone and wasn’t disappointed. Cooked to perfection and super tender. My partner always orders the 200g eye fillet and says it’s her perfect steak. With a side of Mac’n’Cheese you can’t go wrong! Service is always excellent. It is a more expensive restaurant but perfect for special occasions. I definitely recommend booking well in advance as this is very popular place for dinner.
Below Par
What a disappointment. We were looking for a good night out for our friends special birthday. The waitress was uninterested and surly, the waiter appeared to be the work experience lad and the food was well below par. We struggled to order drinks. They argued about removing excess glasses on our table to make room. The request for entrees to be shared in the middle was met with distaste and we were give knives to cut it up ourselves. The steak was tough. The birthday cake came out in the box! They didn’t remove it or present it nicely - and they charged to cut it up and serve it. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. In a tight economic climate where restaurants are struggling for business this place is on self destruct. None of our group will return.

The Meat & Wine Company in Darling Harbor, Sydney is a must-visit restaurant for those looking to try the unique kangaroo skewer. The presentation of the dish is impressive, with a huge skewer showcasing perfectly cooked medium rare filet of kangaroo. The tender and flavorful kangaroo meat is certainly a highlight. Additionally, the restaurant offers a great selection of wines by the glass, allowing patrons to pair their meal with different varietals including some yummy Shiraz and cabernet blends. The combination of delicious food, excellent presentation, and the opportunity to explore different wines makes the Meat & Wine Company a fantastic choice for an unforgettable dining experience in Darling Harbor.
Very classy ambience and high quality food.
Nice place for an occasional fancy night out as the prices are high. The quality of the meat is exceptional.
