disappointed
I went to the fish market and took the food to my air bnb to eat 1 block away. I have loved the Lobster house for years so I was super disappointed. The crab cake was mostly filler and my clam chowder had nearly raw potatoes. The crab soup had so much cayenne pepper that I couldn't taste anything else.

Hadn't been to the Lobster House since I was a kid and we weren't disappointed. You can see the water from most tables in the restaurant. We started with the chilled combination then I had the Schooner Dinner and my husband had the Lobster House Specialty. We enjoyed all our food, the service was good and the prices reasonable. We will definitely go back neck time we are in Cape May.

Very disappointed asked for bread with our soup & appetizer waitress never brought it yet the next table got 2 loaves for 2 adults & 2 kids. Also our soups Sat on the tray until 2 other tables were served their salads overpriced
Be the first to ReplySeverely Dated
This restaurant has some high points, such as the view. The food is predicable and boring, especially after a few visits. The restaurant is severely dated and the female servers compared to the male counterparts are ridiculously dated. I wish they would get out of 1970โs. I know this place is popular, but I wish they put more effort into their food, ambience and creativity. I think it has gone downhill, but thatโs what happens when you are stuck in the 70โs and donโt update.

This place sux. We had a party of about 10. The small round tables were pushed together, very cramped and uncomfortable, no room to relax as you eat with your elbows folded the hole time as to not jab the person next to you. Lobster was horrible and over priced. Tasteless rubber. Absolutely disgraceful. This place is for suckers vacationing in cape may who donโt mind blowing hard earned money on slop. When u see the lobster house cape may- run the other way and donโt look back. Please trust me as I was a tourist in cape may that got suckered in to the scam the lobster house plays on tourists

Gave our lunch three stars because my wife's Salmon was delicious 5* and my Chicken Parm was 1*. It was the worst I ever had. It was burnt and dry and the sauce was tasteless. People have told me when you go to a seafood restaurant, don't order anything but seafood. I guess in this case, they were right

We have visited LH many, many times and we love the atmosphere, staff, food and experience. However.... Our last visit was black Friday and our waitress was Shawn. We observed her waiting on the table next to us. Not only was she loud, she was rude and displayed very little manners. She delivered water glasses that were tucked into her arm (against her skin) that touched the rim of the glass. Yuck! We ordered cocktails, and we were not able to get what we ordered. We asked for the side salad to be a cesar salad, we didn't recive that. We rec'd a regular salad and she said that creamy italian and cesar dressing were one in the same, but that wasn't the worst part, she didn't know the difference between iceburg and romaine lettuce. We rec'd our wonderful meals, and inquired why our salads and drinks weren't correct. She became insultingly loud and said "I follow the rules, Don't know about You two"... We tried to get her to calm down, but she continued being loud. This seemed like her nature, not a bad day. She was very raw in her joking conversation. We really didn't enjoy our favorite resturaunt this time. We hope to visit again next month, hopefully the waiter/waitress will be the delightful type we always enjoy. Until then. โฅ
Be the first to ReplyAwesome ! Love it there.
Best Seafood Ever at a Affordable Price. And just enough to Satisfy Me. Love the Food & Atmosphere. I Love to Sit Out on the Doc & Watch the Boats go by.And looking out on The Water Brings Me Peace.

Larissa, at the front bar, made me feel at home, did not feel like I was dining alone/but not too overbearing. She is kind, informative, attentive and supportive and knows the menu well. She would make me come back for service every Monday night.

Oyster Stew was the best. Very good menu with lots of choices. Interesting place with lots of history.

I didn't love it. It's very dark (wood paneling, wood ducks) and dated looking. I ordered chicken franchaise and it seemed like it was served on a grilled cheese sandwich. it was so dark it was hard to tell but that's what it tasted like to me. The vegetable choices were odd for the dinners, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, applesauce etc. They didn't seem to go with any of the meals. My friends all had seafood and they said it wasn't bad. They liked the bisque.

I've brought my mother to Cape May multiple times on warm late winter days several years to picnic at the lighthouse. I always bring rolls, plates etc. and stop at the seafood market at the Lobster House and pick up a pound of Lobster salad. Brought a friend along also this time. I was embarrassed to say the least. Unidentified ground up seafood (?) with maybe a few small pieces of lobster in one pound. Tasted like that fake crab. I planned to stop on my way home to pick up some snapper soup and clam chowder but decided to pass.
Be the first to ReplyFRESH seafood, properly cooked, great service, worth the drive
This is well worth driving 2 miles out of historic Cape May for a seafood meal that is properly prepared & delicious. Our first time here (&first time dining out in 8 months). We will be back! The service from Cece was excellent. Meal was well paced. Everything was truly delicious, portions were generous (13 scallops!). Cape May scallops were perfectly prepared & in a delectable sauce. ($28.95). Blackened Redfish entree was 3 filets, well blackened but still tender. ($29.75). The restaurant is on the water with fishing boats right there. We had a window table with a view, The food is FRESH! There is a fish market adjoining. Prices are very reasonable. Entrees come with a loaf of warm bread topped with onion & poppy seed, choice of potato & vegetable. Salad is also included. The peanut butter pie in chocolate shortbread crust ($9.50) was delicious too but glad we shared! We left feeling very full but very satisfied & happy to have come here. They do not take reservations & at 6 p.m. on a Wednesday in mid -March we were seated right away but the restaurant filled up fast.
Be the first to ReplyOpens later than usual for Bar/ Dining
The bar is usually opened up at 4:00pm so you can go in and have a drink and relax by the fireplace before your meal. Now, it opens up closer to 5 for everything! And it DOES NOT cater to the locals especially during COVID! I am a local and when everything went to reopen it did not! Not even the fish market for the locals to come and buy fresh fish! Very disappointing!

When we checked in at the Lobster House we were told there would be a 90 minute wait for a table. It was Saturday night at 6:30. They donโt take reservations. So we got drinks at the bar and fortunately a few minutes later a couple vacated their seats at the bar and we sat down. We ordered dinner and enjoyed linguine with shrimp, lobster tail and scallops. So fresh and delicious.

We had a wonderful experience at the Lobster House! We ordered 4 different meals, and they were all delicious. It was especially nice to look out over the water. It is crowded, and they donโt take reservations, but the wait was worth it for us. The service was great! Iโd recommend this restaurant, and Iโll be back.

Great if you can get in. Always crowed. Food is good and prices are too. Great Atmosphere with window seats looking onto the harbor with boats going by. They offer a lobster for a price that's affordable, and it's good. their bread is to die for and they give to enough butter to have clogged arteries. They should have bigger dinner glasses. They ware out their wait staff refilling those tiny little glasses. We like the place. The problem is getting a table since they don't take reservations. It's over an hour wait most times.
Be the first to ReplyVisited on NewYearโs day,
Visited on NewYearโs day, on an impulse visit. Our server, Emily, was very attentive and the mussels were EXCEPTIONAL. The garlic white sauce went down well with their delicious bread. My partner and I both had the the Fishermanโs Wharf Platter - a selection of fish, crab cake, scallops, shrimp and a spicy clam casino. DELICIOUS. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyCome here at least once for dinner
Everyone I asked who visited Cape May suggested to eat here. I was happy to encounter some locals who eat here frequently - always a good sign.
We came for dinner on a Friday night. There are no reservations accepted, so you get here for when dinner starts (4:30) and seating is first come first serve. By the time we finished eating, the wait was an hour. Fortunately there is a lot of seating available, so do not panic if there is a line when dinner begins.
The menu is extensive. I started with the snapper soup, which comes in a crock and a shot of sherry, if you want to add it - I recommend adding it. I had Mako for the first time and tried it char broiled with two sides of vegetables. Save room for desert - I tried their peanut butter pie.
Because there are so many options for seafood and meat, it should be easy to find options regardless of any dietary restrictions you might have.
Great Dinner
My wife and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary with different day trips this week. After a tour of Whale n Dolphin watching we stopped for dinner. Open at 16:30 and was crowed right from the start but that didnโt matter. The service was fantastic. Our waiter Kevin was very nice. The food was placed quickly and correctly. The prices were right in line with other restaurants. Thank you for the end of a great day.
