The Kilpeck Inn Hereford Reviews from The Last Year
Beautiful spot, wonderful food and Great accomodation
What a find! We stayed here for one night whilst in the area and were lucky enough to arrive in time for an evening meal at this understandably popular place. The food was a delight... with an extensive menu which included gluten free options. The menu also had a wonderful note at the bottom which stated they would make efforts to reduce cross contamination which is great had we been travelling with our coeliac daughter. It beats the usual off-putting disclaimer, focusing on what they'll try to do to help rather than what they can't do! The food was sublime. We were so impressed and soon understood why the venue was so popular. I had a marvellous vegetable risotto whilst my husband had salmon. Both were excellent, timely and fresh tasting. We stayed the night here so we're lucky enough to sample the accomodation and breakfast, both of which were an equally high standard. The rooms are clean, comfortable and cosy for a good night's rest. Breakfast was brilliant, nicely presented and plentiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here... and would return in a heartbeat if we were exploring the area again.
Yummy
Excellent food in a cosy country inn atmosphere. Good service. 15 mins drive out of Hereford high street. Would definitely return. Good for groups
Wish there was a "good" button - it's better than average but not very good
There’s centuries of history in this village pub. Apparently it was originally a cottage built in about 1650 from stones taken from a Norman castle which was demolished during the Civil War. It opened as a pub in about 1750.But, as with many village pubs, the emphasis is now on diners, rather than drinkers. More places should aspire to the “local and seasonal” take on the food that the Kilpeck offers. As in Wye Valley asparagus, partnered with a “houmous” made from white beans and wild garlic. A hazelnut pesto may not be seasonal or local but it really worked, drizzled across the top of the asparagus. The other starter was their interpretation of the modern classic – scallops, just seared, with cauliflower, dabs of apple puree and black pudding. A bit oddly, the black pud was served cold, whilst everything else was hot. A spring vegetable risotto was a very generous affair (and couldn’t be finished). Nicely cooked “al dente” rice with wild garlic leaves, pea shoots, asparagus and spring onions. Really delicious. Pork fillet was cooked to “pink” and came stuffed with a mix of nettles and sage. There’s a perfectly cooked fondant potato and lightly cooked summer kale provided some texture contrast. A well made cider sauce reminded you this is cider country. So, that’s four plates of very enjoyable food to round off a week’s stay in the area.
Try the sandwiches
Very friendly efficient staff, admitted us even though we were early after visiting the amazing church. Sandwiches were perfect. Roast beef lots of it and tender, halloumi and mushroom freshly cooked and no annoying coating on the halloumi. Bacon probably the best ever.
Amazing Sunday Roast!
We visited here for Sunday lunch after a ‘quick google’ and are so glad we did! We had the dog with us so sat in the bar area which just felt like a cosy dining room. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. We had the Sunday Roasts- my partner had the beef and I had the pork, both were incredible!! Could not fault a thing! Genuinely now considering booking our next holiday based around a Sunday lunch here!! :-)
Highly recommend
Stumbled on this place. We arrived at 2 (wanting lunch) which is when they stop serving. The waitress told us they stopped serving but would ask the chef. The chef said yes! We were delighted. We just had main courses, both our meals were excellent, we cleared our plates. Lovely place, warm atmosphere, waitress was very attentive and friendly.
Not what it used to be
Not what it used to be. Staff were friendly but poorly trained, not their fault of course but sets the tone. Longish wait (50 minutes) from placing our order to actually getting our food. Restaurant wasn’t full either. Waiting is bad enough, not being waited on made it worse. The food - mediocre at best. Overcooked, poorly presented on the plate, after taste of cheap olive oil. Not of the standard we’ve enjoyed there in the past. If this was a one off, OK, but it wasn’t, our last few visits weren’t much better. Doubt we’ll be back anytime soon.
Five Star Rating for Five Star Dining!
Five star service, food and ambiance. Thank you for a fabulous evening, exceptional dining, and friendly welcoming staff.
Sunday lunch
Had a fabulous lunch on Sunday with my teenage sons. Was able to book a table as late as 3.30 pm which gave us bags of time to get other stuff done. The food, as usual, was spot on from a menu with some interesting ingredients and the packed pub just added to the atmosphere. Undoubtedly returning.
Bad service amazing food
The food was delicious and amazing but the service was nonexistent no front of house we waited 5 minutes before we were what would we like to drink and that took another 10 minutes then it took an hour for our food to be brought to our table, it was worth the wait but considering it wasn’t very busy it’s disappointing on the service side !!!!!

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.

Reservations could be posted for a variety of reasons. Most likely, the person who secured the reservation can no longer attend - to avoid accruing a "no show" fee, they can find someone to take their place.
