The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges Reviews from The Last Year
Food is still good, cocktails are still good.
Service was a liiiiitle slower than expected. Once we ordered things were fine but took a while to get started/settled. My original review is below.
Food was delicious! The highlight was the hake but we also
Food was delicious! The highlight was the hake but we also enjoyed the salmon sushi and the cheese and truffle pizza. We split everything so we could taste more things. Servers were attentive but not obtrusive, and even brought a special dessert for our anniversary. Our only surprise was the price of a glass of wine...$28 for a Chardonnay? Woah...food prices were expected but this was a surprise. Setting is charming, and not too loud, all in all, a nice dinner out.
For the price, the all around experience needs to be better.
Service levels are just mediocre. Portion sizes on the small side. Food tasted good (was hoping for great). And nice ambiance/decor.
I was treated to dinner by my family of choice.
It is a place that they enjoy greatly, and I can see why. The Inn exercises unfettered fidelity to and creativity within the context of its foodshed. Our warm shrimp salad was alive with terrior and imagination as was the warm pea hummus. Our entrees and sides were alive with flavor and visual appeal. The desserts that we shared were also spot on in terms of presentation and flavor. I also love the incorporation of aged silverware with contemporary and antique plating. The owner is warm, kind, and generous with his attention. We couldn't see our food nor the menus very well. The attempt at warmth through dim lighting is something you should know beforehand along with the possibility that the music is too loud even after multiple requests. The service standard could use some attention. My family of choice includes two octogenarians and one has mobility constraints. We shared this in advance. He uses a walker and was directed down an angled staircase to go outside where it was sprinkling. The greeter tried to convince us of otherwise- it's not going to rain for two hours. The sky fell out shortly thereafter. Hmmm.. we were able to negotiate an indoor table (helps to dine with two charming retired attorneys). Overall our table host was good yet rushed us quite a bit for the first 45 minutes or so. Perhaps it was because there was a private event underway simultaneously? I would go back in hopes that this information could be instructive to the waitstaff and that the culinary program continues to impress.
A turnoff to what could have been an amazing evening!
We went to The Inn At Pound Ridge for a family celebration on a Thursday evening. I’ve been here many times before. My host (for the evening) and I ordered spicy virgin marys. We were told that the restaurant didn’t have the mix and wouldn’t until sometime Saturday! Really? A restaurant with the reputation of The Inn At Pound Ridge has to wait 2-3 days to get a staple of any respectable bar? Listen - the food and service were great, but really! Whoever is in charge of this area is in the wrong game and establishment!!
Reservations for regular dining hours are very hard to get
Reservations for regular dining hours are very hard to get without booking weeks in advance. Excellent cocktail and wine selection and the lobster was amazing. The dining room has a great setup and worth waiting to eat there than the bar area.
We recently dined at The Inn for my son's birthday.
The food was very good. However the servers(kids) were not attentive and it took more than one hour to get our food. The manager did come to apologize after an hour but offered no excuse or anything else. Disappointing for a place of supposed good reputation.
Not worth it
3 1/2 stars. Not up to par for Jean Georges. Pretty good, but lot’s of issues like over-salted seabass, unevenly cooked lamb chops, thick-skinned burrata and nearly burnt broccolini. Even the Old Fashioned was in the blah side w no cherries or even orange. Desserts were very good though. Not worth the price or hype.
We gave it a 2nd try after a disastrous experience 8 years
We gave it a 2nd try after a disastrous experience 8 years ago. No better. Hostess as rude as could be. Waiter was best part of the meal. Food ok after waiting over an hour. They tried to make up for it by bringing every dessert they had. Never going back

I really want to give this spot great marks on dining room
I really want to give this spot great marks on dining room and ambiance. It's interesting and textures. Such a nice vibe all around. My issue is the food, and wine list. My $58 tenderloin is really a super basic filet mignon. Just tell the customer what they will get. The veggies that came with it were 2x more interesting than the meat. It's an otherwise empty plate with a filet and some tasty green veg. Would it kill them to add a high level, fun starch? Same for the $28 burger. Plate a shake shack burger in a fancy manner and it's the same dish. Wildly overwhelming. Champagne list is poor enough to ensure someone only orders by the glass. So much potential here, but as it is today, why bother?
Lovely room.
Decent service. The food... a $33 kale salad with chicken which was the most pitiful salad. 2 small handfuls of minced kale, 3 sad croutons, and a scrawny chicken paillard. Literally that was it. The lobster burger was okay. The sausage kale pizza was decent. All in all, totally underwhelming. Seems JGV is resting on his laurels.
Went to dinner last week to celebrate a birthday.
We had 6:15 reservations we arrived 5 minutes early but they would not sit us until the clock struck the time of reservation. Dinner room and table was large and comfortable but noisy when full.. Menu was varied such that even my grandchildren found something to select. We had appetizers to share e.g. truffle pizza was excellent as was beef tartare. To accompany the main meal we ordered a bottle of red wine, however it arrived ice cold. When we complained they said it just came out of their wine cellar, it took awhile before it warmed up to really appreciate the wine, a disappointment. The main meals were served nicely except we needed to ask for dinner plates for those sharing the aged steak for two (they gave us cocktail plates originally). However, we found most of the dishes were over salted , especially the fish dishes.
Don't bother with this place.
It wasn't a too busy of a night yet just bad food for a John George spot. Dinner for 2 was over $300 which was expected. I ordered meals based off suggestions of top dishes. Ordered about 5 different dishes all were average in taste and quantity. Wine was above average at $20+ glass. Liquor drinks were extremely weak. Service was 9/10 and was on point. Wish we could have her at every restaurant. Ambiance is nothing to write home about as it hasn't really changed since 90's. The place was really dark and everyone around use had to use the candle to read the menu. The table next to us was complaining to each other about their dessert loudly and their waiter still didn't pickup their hint of being unhappy. In No rush to go back.
I am the biggest fan of Jean George and I have been to most
I am the biggest fan of Jean George and I have been to most of his restaurants. This was third time at the Inn. It has changed drastically from my first visit which was amazing, the second time was during Covid so the menu was limited (understandably) so it had a casual feel to it. The staff was amazing as it always is but the food lacked. For appetizers, we ordered a dip which was between a soft consistency like an apple sauce mixed with a humus texture. It was okay but it was served with soft pita. What it needed was something with a crunch. The shrimp salad was delicious which was the recommendation from the server but it could had been cut a bit on the plate vs large leaves of lettuces, plating was off. We ordered pizza which was amazing and the scallops which were overcooked. For dessert, it was a cupcake which was very dry. It was disappointing as I always look forward to dining in Jean's restaurants. I get excited to know I will experience fabulous food and service. This will not stop me from enjoying his restaurants in the future. But, some things need to be addressed.
Disappointing to pay for brand and not quality
We are massive fans of the flagship NYC restaurant, but while the Inn has a beautiful interior, the food was very average and over-priced. It is disappointing to be charged prices based on the brand name, but not to have a menu and quality to match - we can name several better experiences more local to us at half the price, albeit not in such a charming setting. We found the service to be very friendly, but we will not be returning given we can eat better quality food for less money closer to where we live. It is a totally understandable business model for JG to add to the portfolio with more approachable, affordable menus and locations than the NYC classic, but neither the Inn nor Happy Monkey in Greenwich make the balance between quality and price work satisfactorily. I am more than happy to pay up for quality, but not for the brand alone.
This place has lovely ambience, attentive staff, and great
This place has lovely ambience, attentive staff, and great food. The only thing that prevents me from giving this place 5 stars are the prices. I've had a lot of excellent meals all over the place at more reasonable prices. I'm perfectly willing to splurge on an upscale dining experience. I know these are not budget options. But three dinners, three apps, and a couple rounds of drinks approached $500 for three people. Ok. Enough about that. The food was very good. Grilled octopus, scallops, and steak tartare were all expertly prepared as was my cocktail. The wait staff and kitchen timed the delivery of everything extremely well. If you want an upscale experience and don't mind paying more than a little extra, go for it! I might recommend something else if friends want to go there again.
This place was fantastic from the time we walked in.
The service was amazing. The drinks were even better, and the food and desserts were to die for we will definitely be back here. Thank you guys. The fire was warm and cozy compliments of Troy.
As always, the food is excellent, service is solid, and
As always, the food is excellent, service is solid, and ambiance is great. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the above normal prices. $30-$33 bottle of Cloudy Bay sells for $134.....mind boggling. We did try a new appetizer for us, the Octopus la plancha, and it was fantastic! Otherwise, we love this place and will continue to return for special occasions as we have since 1995.
We ventured out to the Inn at Pound Ridge for brunch.
We made reservations for noon thinking that everyone will come out later but we were wrong. Cars were lined up waiting for them to open. The ambiance is beautiful, a nice friendly environment. We started brunch off with cocktails - a Whiskey Cider and a Blood Orange Bellini. Both cocktails were well prepared with a great presentation and tasted really good. For brunch we ordered the French Toast with Caramelized apples with a side of bacon and the Cheddar Cheeseburger with Frizzled onions and Yuzu pickles. The presentation was awesome and the food tasted as good as it looked. I was glad I was able to add a fried egg to the burger. The portions were plentiful and well worth the money. It was time for another round of cocktails. This time we ordered the Cucumber Martini and the Ginger Margarita. The presentation was on point and the drinks were well prepared. We were extremely pleased with our second round of cocktails. The wait staff works as a team, so they are constantly checking to make sure everything is okay. The Inn at Pound Ridge is definitely worth the trip. It may be a little pricey if you have too many cocktails but it's worth it especially if you are not driving.
Recommend this restaurant overall based on my many
Recommend this restaurant overall based on my many experiences here, but last night was not the best visit. I tried to forget the more than half a dozen local guests that have taken on a California valley girl accent. I have never thought this place pretentious until last night when I sat at the bar for drinks and dinner. The couple next to me decided to get a table because I sat in the chair next to them. They must have thought they reserved a 1,200 square ft air bnb. Lots of attitude, but all from the guests. The staff are amazing. Now to the food - Tuna tartare and ginger margarita were amazing as usual. However, beef tenderloin was very very blah at $58. Not good. Ordered a side of the oyster mushrooms with jalapeños - it was absolutely horrible. I let the server know when he asked but with no response. All in all, $160 meal not worth $50. Will stick to the basic apps and drinks moving forward, as well as take ear buds for the locals who are in conversation - as they somehow have arrived at at God like level with insignificant concerns and valley girl pitch tones.

Great place and food! I enjoy the upstairs dining room and the services is usually very good.
Beware of holiday menus/reservations! We were stuck there
Beware of holiday menus/reservations! We were stuck there for 4 hours and left with 2 of our three courses. My family made reservations here for Christmas Dinner. My mom is a senior citizen, so our reservations were at 3:45p. We waited at the bar for 20-30 min & checked w the hostess at 4:15p. She took us to their downstairs, which was louder and more crowded. We rolled with it... My mother mentioned how our waiters looked like lumberjacks. She had a point. This seemed like a "homier" pub-style restaurant, very different than what we saw upstairs. However, we were blind to the red flags. Once seated, it took another 30 min to get our waiter's attention to ask if we could order some wine. We immediately got a lot of apologies from the waiter, "I've got some big tables," "I'm so sorry we are backed up," "we have a lot going on here..." We just wanted wine. I've been a waitress and I recognized the look of panic in our server's eyes. Management screwed up big time. We ordered our choices for the prixe fixe menu, but at 4:30p they were already out of the lobster. The amuse bouche was a "truffle fritter" but tasted like a fried goat cheese ball. It was a nice tasting dime-size fried goat cheese ball. Several tables near us were beginning to "compare notes." One table of was waiting 2 hours and still waiting for their main course. I also overheard a manager & server discussing issues with timing in the kitchen/"firing the orders." The butternut squash soup was nice but it came with more chives than soup. The meals were served on butcher block paper placemats. I wish we had brought crayons. After my mom's 2nd glass of rose & the tables 2nd round of cold stale bread, our server said our mains were enroute. We asked him if we could get our desserts to go & he agreed. However, after another 30 min without our mains, we asked for our mains to be wrapped up too. As we left, we saw the staff adding 3-4 chairs to a table for four, making a table for 8. During our dinner, one manager or someone who looked "in charge" visited every table, but avoided ours. The dinner service was shockingly awful. The cost was $185 per person. The food was ok...the portions were pretty small. When we got home, we weighed my tenderloin and it was 4oz. After arriving at 3:30pm we realized we had spent 4 hours having rose, soup & cold bread. How could this be a Jean-Georges restaurant? I have had better service at a Sizzler. I would AVOID or cancel any upcoming NYE reservations after having their Christmas Dinner. To the management: you overbooked your reservations, your decorations looked stale, the portions you served your patrons were pitiful & you overburdened your waitstaff. I thought this was supposed to be a nice dinner, as did others dressed up for dinner. However, this looked like a disaster. We will never be back.
Disappointing service.
Decided to have our Christmas dinner at the Inn. Nice ambience as always, but things went south quickly. The service was like keystone cops; the team approach was clearly not working - with multiple servers working the same tables such that none of them seemed to have ownership. Noone was tracking our table and the prix fix menu of three items took 2.5 hours from start to finish; we waited for more than an hour for our entrees. The food was mostly good, though they were out of the entree I intended to have (half way through the day) and the chocolate pudding cake was inedible. We had to ask for bread as it was never offered. The vocal complaints from other tables also created a pretty sour atmosphere. It was a pretty disappointing showing given the considerable expense and importance of the meal. I won't entrust them with another Christmas dinner.
Slow, sloppy and totally overrated
Sunday brunch at a beautiful location but the food is no where near a michelin star restaurant and service was sloppy and slow. Despite the kind mannerisms of the staff, after numerous times we asked where the food was, they reassured it was “coming” and 30 mins later it had arrived. Other remarks: a whole bottle of red wine finished and the waiter did not bring a basket of bread, the wine glasses were not appropriate for red wine (narrow white wine), the salads are below mediocre, food in general did not keep up with michelin star quality and ridiculously overpriced. Brunch for 6 people = $ 600 + And we were hungry and not satisfied at the end. Pros (so to speak): location, desserts, bread & olive oil. Overall remark: ridiculous.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res

Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
