A gem! A high end, fine dining establishment- once upon a time it was a pub, but now it is most definitely a restaurant and don't wander in expecting a pint of lager and a packet of pork scratchings. The dinner menu ( at £70/person) includes three courses appropriate to the season ( three or four choices per course). The wine list is robust, and includes a good selection of wine by the glass . While none of it is cheap, there is a lot of art in the food. If I had one small gripe, it would be that the experience is a little on the slow side- dinner was a three hour affair- on the other hand you don't really want to be swilling back your Pomerol as though it were a supermarket Beaujolais on a Friday night.

Great quality food in a nicely decorated restaurand and good deal with their set lunch weekend menu: 35£ for 3 courses. The lunch started with some parmesan shortbread and truffle cream with chervil. Also Irish soda bread for the table (in house made and delicious). For starters we all went for the charred mackerel, radish, ginger and champagne. Super tasty, one of the best meaty mackerel I have had in a while and the sauce was super fragrant. For mains, I went for the middle white pork (very creative and delicious) and my family went for the Hake and lime sauce (well cooked fish!).And for desserts we all went for the chamomile and apple creme brulee. Sooo goood!Overall the food is classic Irish with a twist!I would highly recommend it for a special occasion

It's definitely not a pub but a restaurant, nice interior, excellent service. For my taste a bit too stiff, the jazzy-piano thing seems to me a bit American.Value for price is not what I would have expected - the kitchen is not very creative - especially pudding was not a big surprise in taste. Portions are small (have to say we all were quite hungry after a long day) and if you want to leave the restaurant satisfied you have to spend a lot of money
Be the first to ReplyLovely interior, and wonderful food.
A significant step up from a gastro pub. And good for lunch with the children.
Be the first to ReplyA really nice pub that serves up great food.
In regards to the price, it's not the cheapest but it's not a rip off either. Considering the area and location, I think it's fairly priced. It really is high class restaurant standard food and the drinks are all good too.

Great ale, great wine, fantastic food. The atmosphere inside is nice, but for a truly great meal sitting outside in the sun can't be beaten.

Fantastic Restaurant in former Pub opposite Petersham Gate of Richmond Park. Good for lunch outdoors in sunshine or evening dinner.Great wine menu, excellent steak and soups.Indoors is beautiful, understated Edwardian.Very clean toilets with nice soap too!If you eat lunch here, you can take afternoon tea at Pembroke Lodge, or eat dinner at the Dysart afterwards.Has its own stop on the 65 bus route to Kew Bridge/South Ealing/Ealing Broadway so no problems with driving home after the wine selection.....
Be the first to ReplyWell refurbished , more of a restaurant than a pub.
Been to a couple of the jazz evenings, and while the food was interesting and imaginitive, well cooked and presented, the portions aren't great and I don't belive it is good value.I'd go again for a drink and the music, but eat elsewhere . I say that rather sadly because it would be great if they could make it work. Some good wines.
Be the first to ReplyNewly refurbished, this pub is absolutely gorgeous.
With its high ceilings and period features such as wooden beams it is really stylish and spacious, having a really fresh, open feel. The sitting area in the garden is also really lovely on a sunny day. Just across the road is an access gate into Richmond Park with footpaths leading up the hill to some of the best views the park has to offer. There is also a playground just inside the park or you are just a few minutes walk away from the river and water meadows. The location therefore makes this place ideal for a weekend meal following a walk. If walking isn't your thing though or the weather doesn't allow it, its worth visiting this pub for the fantastic food. The menu is that of a high class restaurant while the relaxed atmosphere is that of a pub. There are also frequent music performances in the evenings, with weekly jazz nights nd many other events. A really friendly, quality pub!
