A very enjoyable evening.
The food in general was really yummy, samosa starters were lovely, curry’s, naan bread, rice etc in were all very good, but not spectacular. The lamb curry whilst delicious, was overly chewy which whilst I can totally get on board with some bite, we all know the best lamb curry’s are cooked with a little bit more care. Rubén’s hotel need to ensure the lift for this restaurant is fixed as we struggled a little with our pram. Service here was very good, they really took care of us and our little one which we really appreciated. I really do wish however that restaurants, (especially restaurants that aren’t cheap and are more high end), would invest in better high chairs - I cannot explain how frustrating it is for parents to go to a nice restaurant where we are likely (almost certain) to spend £200-£250 on food and drink, but to greeted with an old, highly uncomfortable wooden high chair with absolutely zero comfort and no tray table attached for them to eat on - anyone who has ever had a little one will testify that this can easily spoil a great dinner if your child is not happy/comfy. 4/5
Be the first to ReplyLovely meal.......but
We visited as a Christmas treat. Initially I had booked the English Grill in the hotel but my booking was cancelled and I was offered the Curry Room. We all enjoyed our meal, the food and drink was delicious and service great and attentive. The reason for the 4 rather than a 5 is the addition of 15% service charge on the bill. We like to choose our tip and when your bill is already nearly £400 (which is not a complaint) its actually a bit disappointing to have another £60 added without a choice.

Very nicely decorated in a high quality velvet and dark wood style. Service was excellent and everyone enjoyed their dishes. I recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyInsanely Priced Indian
Ate here with high expectations looking at the prices charged, but left feeling severely wanting. The food here was perfectly acceptable but priced as an ultra high end restaurant. Whilst the food was ok, it’s only the same as you’d get at a nice Indian locally for a third of the cost. To give some context you’ll pay £16 for a bottle of Cobra when you’ve added on the greedy 15% service charge. If you like a curry, eat at 3 different Indians in Brick Lane rather than one meal here. Be the first to ReplyUnforgettable Evening
If you ever have the chance to dine here, grab it with both hands! We had a wonderful Saturday evening here recently, starting with drinks upstairs in the New York bar. They not only provided superb service but some top quality entertainment in the form of a singer, who was fantastic. We then went down to the restaurant and enjoyed some of the most delicious food we have ever tried. I have an allergy to nuts and nutmeg (which can be tricky when dealing with curry) but their attention to detail to make sure I was kept safe was admirable. I think it was Mohan(?) who looked after us and he could not have done more for us, even the chef came out to check with everyone that the food was ok. All in all an unforgettable experience and one we will remember for a long time ❤️❤️
Be the first to ReplyClassy Restaurant with fine Indian food. Noisy though!
This is an elegant Indian Restaurant in the very classy Rubens Hotel near Victoria Station. The Chef is Arun Kumar and he delivers on our experience very high quality food indeed. All good but the Kerala Prawns to die for. Ambience is good and service first class. Top restaurant with prices to match. Our experience was a little spoiled by there being a large (12?) party not far from our table. They were very noisy and intrusive.
Be the first to ReplyA great curry near victoria station
Food was excellent. Service was excellent but the price was a bit steep. Multiple dishes tasted which were all great.
Be the first to ReplyGood Experience
We arrived for our dinner and had to wait for our reservation table. The service was very good, and the food was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Staff and Wonderful food
We were guests at the hotel The Ruben. We were searching for an allergy friendly indian restaurant for our teenage son who has nut, sesame, peas, chickpeas allergies. Most Indian food has nuts paste in the curries and had very limited menu options. The manager Mohan personally came to us and eased our concerns and provided us with several options. He closely discussed with the chef and kitchen and was able to make Lamb Curry for my son which we absolutely loved. He and the kitchen staff were absolutely lovely treating us like their own. Our family of 4 thoroughly enjoyed the different entrees and apps we had. Though the place was pricey, we would do it again due to the service we received from Mohan and his team.
Be the first to ReplyOverrated and overpriced for basic flavor profiles. A beginner level of Indian Cuisine.
Attentive staff, but the curries and plain naan is lacking in depth and flavor. For traditional Indian Cuisine, they miss the mark and don’t serve Lassis. It has a prix fixe menu with limited options, the meats are not marinated nor grilled in tandoori ovens, just added to the different curry sauces. We tried 4 different curries, Traditional Lamb, Butter Chicken, Chicken and Prawn, and lastly the Vegetable Pakora which has the best flavor profile. We have been eating traditional Indian for 30 years, and sadly we were all disappointed with the high ranking of The Curry Room.
Be the first to ReplyVery good food and super friendly staff
We were looking for a very good and authentic indian restaurant and we were not dissapointed. Anun Kumar (Chef) made sure that the menue was vegan as requested and really made sure that all our wishes were fulfilled. Our Waiter Abindra who's from Nepal was also super friendly and made sure that we don't miss anything. Definitely would recommend the place!
Be the first to ReplyStunning customer service, delightful, delicious food in beautiful surroundings!
What a superb evening from the moment we arrived at the hotel reception to leaving with our goody bags filled with information, a recipe card and a little pot of spice. The best Indian eating experience ever. The dining area is luxurious with giant red armchairs around the table and a lovely atmosphere. Mohan was superb along with the other staff, all who were warm, friendly and ultra professional with lots of information given on wine and food choices. My other half had the butter chicken curry which was the most excellent curry ever eaten - I tasted it and was instantly impressed. I had Chef Kumar’s Thali which was a selection of three curries of my choice. I was delighted with all of them. I really cannot praise the whole evening enough. Well worth the trip, well worth the money. Fantastic!
Be the first to ReplyThree of us - very, very happy
A wonderful evening, delightfully orchestrated as ever by Mohan. Our guest chose the Thali (three dishes) of fish, prawn and lamb, which he said was superb. We chose our old favourite, Lamb Natal at vindaloo heat, which is spicy and flavourful, not blow-your-head-off so you cannot taste the meat or anything else. The excellent house champagne was the ideal accompaniment to perfect the meal and we left replete and happy. It's a lovely, comfortable space to spend an evening enjoying top class food. So glad we chose to return.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing service and delicious food
We had such an amazing visit to the curry room from start to finish. Walking into the hotel the reception staff and doorman couldn’t help enough in holding onto our bags so we could make our way down to the restaurant without carrying all our luggage. We were the first sitting at 5:30 due to an early train back home to Staffordshire and explained to our waiter the times we needed to leave by. They were so accommodating and even boxed up our deserts for us to give us some extra time to get to the station. We were celebrating our anniversary which I hadn’t mentioned on the booking but just mentioned in passing to our waiter who brought down an addition cake with a happy anniversary chocolate plaque on it. Aside from the incredible service the food itself was outstanding. Myself and my partner agreed it’s the best curry we’ve ever had and living a stones throw from Birmingham the curry capital of the UK we’ve had some that would be tough to beat. I had the butter chicken upon the waiters recommendation and my partner had a lamb curry which he said the lamb was so tender and for mine the chicken was really tasty. We couldn’t finish the meal with the sheer amount on everything so I was able to get the remainder boxed up to take home. We highly recommend a visit especially for a special occasion as this experience is a little bit of luxury without compromising on really flavourful food.
Be the first to ReplyAt last......
It seems an age since we were last in The Curry Room. We always look forward to returning to the quality, service and style of the food, staff and surroundings. My husband ordered his favourite - the famous thali - as always, and I had the superb Natal lamb. Chef Kumar came to the table to check exactly how we would like our spices and we settled back with the delightfully soft house champagne, poppadum and a mixed tray of fresh dips while we waited a short time for our meal to be prepared. ( If you like hot lime chutney you are in for a treat.) After our perfect main course, Mohan suggested the latest sorbet - an intensely fresh orange - and it was the ideal finish to refresh the palate. Another amazing evening in this most comfortable of restaurants and we returned to Hotel 41 on the fifth floor, replete and happy. It's a great pattern for sheer luxurious enjoyment. Thank you again, Mohan, Arbinda and Team. We've already booked the next visit in 2024.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent in every way!
Excellent quality fresh ingredients, combined with excellent service, atmosphere and wine, they even went next door to get me a pint of Guinness. Nothing was too much trouble.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Indian food with great wait staff and food cooked to perfection!
The wait staff was amazing and a lot of fun to be around. Made my wife's birthday dinner a perfect night. This is definitely a hidden gem and took some time to find since it is under a hotel at the Ruben's Hotel. Seriously my only complaint is that they should put a sign to make themselves more visible and I think that would help everyone enjoy Indian food here! If you are looking for solid Indian food then this is THE Spot. The main Chef is from India and had been all over the north and south for 20 years perfecting his craft. We met the managers, chef and of course the wait staff was so nice to be around and served us with a smile the whole way through. It is a little pricey but definetely worth it for a special occasion and you know that the staff appreciates every single person they serve!! Will definetly come back next time we are in London. If you are Indian like I am, they do a great job of getting the spices customized to YOUR perfect level if you ask! Thank you guys again for providing such an amazing experience!!!
Be the first to ReplyBy far the best Indian restaurant I’ve been to
I love everything about this place! The quality of the food, the staff’s attentiveness to our request and how special they made us feel. Mohan the manager is great and Chef Kumar was very accommodating to all my allergy requests. I went with the family and we had the selection of curries- they were faultless! My mum was born and raised in India so her standards are very high. She said it was the best curry she had ever tasted. The biryani was also sensational. The mix of spices was perfect for me and the meal wasn’t too heavy. I always recommend this hidden gem to all my friends and will be going there often. It was so good, that we decided to book chef’s Masterclass experience with Chef Kumar and we really enjoyed the experience. He gave very important tips on how and when to use the different spice blends and their benefits and we then ate the dish we cooked.

I just had a delicious meal in the Curry Room. Every dish was phenomenal from the lamb samosas to the buttermilk chicken. You can truly taste the quality of the ingredients. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic dinner with my parents at the Curry Room. We appreciated how the wait staff was willing to walk us through the menu and offer suggestions. The chef and manager even stopped by our table. The manager was very friendly and even shared with my dad how to authentically eat his meal. It was an amazing time and the food was divine.
Be the first to ReplyOk…but not great.
We went for an evening meal at the Curry Room. The initial impressions were very good, we were early and ordered cocktails upstairs, which we then took down to our meal. My partner had notified a vegan requirement in advance and the waiter knew this and notified us of the vegan option. I ordered the three course with a selection of curries(extra £10) on top of the £75/head..seem d a bit steep. The food was good, but not excellent. Half way through our main course, a singer started in the bar above - it was so loud we couldn’t hear our conversations. The waiters were very helpful in moving us - but the evening was disappointing from there on. We were genuinely shocked to the point of hilarity, when the vegan bread option was two slices of brown toast!!! (Despite our advance notification). You could sense the embarrassment in the waiting staff - and complimentary Champagne glasses were thrown in. All in all - the staff were very attentive and polite, but the food was pretty average and not worth the £245 price tag.

We were staying in the adjacent hotel and had a really special and delicious dinner at The Curry Room. The room was so pretty and all enjoyed our dinners so much. By far the best Indian food we had ever had.
Be the first to ReplyNot the best
Was a really nice restaurant with nice staff, but a very average meal for what we paid, I ve had better curries in our local restaurants and half the price, for £75 i had popadoms, a little samosa a lamb curry and rice, the curry didn’t have much taste, my husband had popadom, Samosa, 3 curries and rice for £85, again curries were ok, I expected more, we had chips that came out 30 minutes before our meal, 2 pints and water our bill was £227, we don’t mind paying for expensive meals, but it really was not worth it
Be the first to ReplyA tasty experience
What an amazing experience. The food was out of this world. Authentic , fresh and so unbelievably tasty. Never eaten naan like this before and the butter chicken … well I have to say you must experience it for yourself. The staff were so helpful and nice and the we met the main man the chef himself . Super guy! We will be back !
Be the first to ReplyElegant dining and great food
Food is pricey and the menu is set but worth it as the dining room is elegant, with old world charm, well spaced tables, food is authentic and the chef hand crafts each item. Chef met with us to ask about allergies, food suggestions. The butter chicken was perfect. I had poached pears, my husband had the sorbet. Both were perfectly served. The dining room is downstairs in the Rubens and is wonderfully decorated. It was a serene place to dine, tables are limited and well spaced for a pleasant meal. Would highly recommend
