Less good than the last visit
Less comfortable semi-cicular banquette seating with less attentive and less acurate service together with one main course and side both served cold. The place was busy so maybe this was part of their problem but at these high prices, they need to raise their game to where it was on our last visit The rating this time is a generous Very Good

Superb food in an art deco glamorous setting. Excellent for a business meal or splurge. The hash with duck egg was amazing.
Be the first to ReplyLovely room, excellent service, and superb food.
We've been eating Christmas dinner in London for years. We've tried many of the top places. The meal we enjoyed this Christmas at the Colony Grill was the best we've ever had. Each course was superb. They were slammed, yet the service was impeccable. We argued over which course was best. The ballotine of foie gras! No! The lobster and tarragon dumplings! No! The scrumptious turkey: flavourful and moist. The pigs in the blanket were the best any of us had ever eaten. We were about to cry because we just couldn't finish the delectable Christmas pudding. The mince pies are not to be missed (we took them home). The room is one of the prettiest and most comfortable in London. Many thanks to Lionel, Robert, and the whole staff for another memorable meal. Do nip into the excellent Magritte Bar for a degistiv. Another lovely room, wonderful jazz, and a superb staff.
Be the first to ReplySlowest breakfast in Mayfair!
20 minutes for the coffee to arrive, we had to chases everything on the order, charged for drinks we didn’t have and then an £80 bill for the three of us!
Be the first to ReplyAn exceptional experience
I joined two colleagues who lived in London and are also into fine dining and wine. I have to say that our evening was an exceptional experience and the food and service were nothing but 5 starts. Mainly this is also due to our Sommelier Sergio, who served us and hinted us to a Gamay that we never would've found or ordered otherwise. The food was authentic and the atmosphere of the place is unique. Thank you for this lovely evening.
Be the first to ReplySuperb experience
We were a party of six old friends meeting up and I don’t think we could have found anywhere more welcoming. Pre dinner drinks in the bar were accompanied by an excellent pianist which was a lovely background experience without being intrusive. The service and ambience at this restaurant are top class and the food superb. Could not recommend it more highly.
Be the first to ReplyFood good, staff great
We were very lucky to find a table free at the last minute when staying nearby. Food (steaks all round) were predictably excellent, but the occasion was made by the staff and in particular the contribution and knowledge of the charming sommelier, Giorgio, who engaged enthusiastically with our inane questions without (as some masters of wine do) overstaying their welcome. A thoroughly excellent experience that justified the price.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dinner with wine experience!
We would like to thank Giorgio for the most fantastic wine experience we had last night, it really made the n of my. He was so charismatic and helpful, as well as choosing amazing wines. The food / service and all other staff were also fantastic! Thank you so much!

We had absolutely amazing dinner at the Colony grill restaurant and also thanks to the staffs who are very friendly and attentive, especially Ahmed & Arianna.
Be the first to ReplySplendid evening great food great wine but above all amazing staff
What can I say apart from I’ve lived in London far too long for this to be my first visit and it was so good that I felt I had to write my first tripadvisor review! We booked the wine tasting experience with four wines chosen by the sommelier to match the food, served blind, guess the wine and vintage and you don’t have to pay (we didn’t manage it but I’m sure anyone who can will want to pay just because the pairings are perfect and the wines excellent so why be mean!). Despite the superb wines and the food it was the service that took the evening to a level beyond expectations. The entire team managed to be friendly, professional, knowledgeable and passionate all at the same time. Special mention to whomever came up with idea of the wine experience and for the flawless execution by our sommelier Georgio who taught us a lot and made the evening memorable. What a place and what a team.
Be the first to ReplyHigh quality all round
We dined at this restaurant yesterday after having drinks in the bar/lounge. Our meal was excellent. The calves liver was particularly good as was the ice cream sundae dessert though the chicken dish was not memorable. Huge choice of wines - expensive of course - but aren't they all!! All of the staff were very attentive and the restaurant, although quiet at 6pm, was soon buzzing with customers. We will be happy to return.
Be the first to ReplyNice room. Bad steak.
I went to the colony grill for lunch with my daughter. Things started well with drinks. The bread was warm and good. We ordered chicken, buttermilk mash and a New York strip steak with chips. The £45 New York strip steak was more like a 10mm thick slice of skirt steak. Somewhat like a thick slice of beef for a Sunday roast. I asked when ordering this for it to be served medium rare. This was a pointless request with a steak that thin. The triple cooked chips had been waiting under a heat lamp for too long and were very unpleasant and dry. The chicken was ok. The mash agreeable. The ice cream deserts were nice. But this is the worst steak I have had in London. And the price being asked for the size of steak was a total rip off which is a shame because the room and staff were very pleasant.
Be the first to ReplyBest grill restaurant in London
We recently moved to London from NYC, we temporarily stayed at an apartment in Mayfair and found this restaurant by chance while strolling around the neighborhood. Since the very beginning we knew we were in a special place, the decor, the ambience, the smiles. We had some drinks at the Gatsby’s Room before heading to the restaurant. Both service and quality were supreme, we knew we would return. And so we did, with our adult children…., having grown up in Argentina and having had steaks at least 4 times a week in my childhood and younger years there I know one or two things about a perfect steak…, and this place does not disappoint, my son and I shared the best Tomahawk we’ve ever had, and we’ve been around the world. In a short period of time, we became regulars and it is now our favorite place in London, even though we no longer live in Mayfair.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing experience with amazing food
Thank you to everyone at the Colony Grill for making our anniversary dinner so special. The service and the food are exceptional and are a credit to themselves. We cannot wait to visit soon
Be the first to ReplyClassic restaurant, great experience
Came for a business dinner (group of 10) and not disappointed - splendid food and service that is attentive, without being too much. Quality wine list Not cheap, obviously, all very costly, but worth it
Be the first to ReplyLovely room, excellent service, and very good food.
The Colony Grill is a beautiful, comfortable room. The food is excellent and the service is attentive and professional without being obsequious. We love it. It took me several visits to order something other than the scallop starter: once I had tried it, I couldn't get enough of it. The beautifully sourced scallops are perfectly cooked and paired with pickled grapes> It's an inventive and memorable dish. My husband keeps ordering the foie gras parfait, a beautiful foie gras mousse with walnuts and truffles, served with delicious brioche. It's remarkably hard to find a good piece of calf's liver properly cooked, so I couldn't stop ordering that either. Always perfect and satisfying. My husband is partial to the Monkfish Wellington, the brill, and the Dover sole. Our son is a fan of the ribeye. In short, everything we have tried over a number of visits has been excellent. The service is charming. Lionel is the distinguished manager and Robert, a kind and generous server. In short, you can't go wrong here.

Lovely setting
Good choice of breakfasts but my smashed avocado on toast with a poached egg was a little bland and I tasted sugar on the toast.
Be the first to ReplyLuxuriously comfortable from valet parking, thru drinks and dinner
It was a lovely cossetted evening from the valet parking to the drinks in the lounge and then to dinner in a nice, comfortable booth.
The food was excellent as was the service
All in all, a memorably good evening
First Visit SInce Lockdown
Gearing up to revisit those wonderful restaurants from pre-lockdown days. The Beaumont has always been a delight, a discrete and shamelessly lovely delight and offers a calm and tranquil environment where the staff teams have always focussed on guest services to ensure a memorable experience.
Not having been here for nearly two years, I did wonder what it would be like...I need not have feared as true to form the Beaumont has geared up to offer as close to what it has always done, albeit making allowances for the struggles in recruiting staff, but really as a visitor you don't really notice!!!
The Colony Grill Room is one of the most relaxed and peaceful restaurants in Mayfair....they have retained that subtle mix of classic service coupled with just the right level of informality....such a delight to have well trained and attentive staff that 1) understand the menu, 2) know how to clear a plate 3) have just the right level of insight to know when you are ready for the next course or a fresh drink and finally....I so love the attention to detail where they still classically 'crumb down' the linen following the main course...call me old fashioned if you must, but its a part of the traditional service standards that I am so glad they have retained.
NIce to see they are serving a lovely range of champagne and blanc de blanc; their by-the-glass selection is noteworthy: 54 wines offered, including fine wines rarely available by the glass. Delighted they have Gusbourne's Blanc de Blanc (from Kent)...it really holds its own with some of the good champagne's.
Turning to food, the menu has been refined somewhat , but has a great range available including their famous Saturday brunch menu ( Try the Full New York with its battered dill pickles...really good,) The Dover Sole is a real treat..beautifully cooked and filleted at the table...served with new potatoes and we had creamed spinach, which is definitely a must have!!.
This time of year , they have a Chestnut veloute....you must try it, very innovative and is served with a cep marmalade which has a fantastic intense flavour and pairs so well with the veloute.
What I would almost insist you try is their homemade ice-cream....probably the best ice-cream I have tasted for a long time....even in the USA!!...I shared three scoops with my 2.5 year-old grandson .....could have done with one on my own..you create your own sundaes from a list of ingredients..such fun, but goodness even if you have the ice-cream on its own you will be blown away !!
Well done Beaumont Hotel and very well done the Colony Grill Room team, we had a fantastic time and it was better than I remembered.....we will be back soon!!!
Great as always…….But
I’ve always been a huge fan of the Colony and the beautiful Beaumont. The new decor is lovely and as always we did have a great evening.
I hate to say it but I just don’t get or liked the new menu!
What happened to the New York grill style that was just fantastic! No chicken pot pie!
It just doesn’t work and I wish they would go back to the original as this one I admit I struggled to find something that stood out!
Saying that it is still one of my favourites in London and I will always support it! Please reconsider the menu though.
Good to be back
It was my first visit to The Colony since it reopened, and although it has certainly changed, it's just as good, if not better. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Food-wise; the eel strozzapreti was simply fantastic, the depth of flavour was amazing. For the main course, I had a rib-eye steak, which was perfectly cooked.
Giorgio, the sommelier, provided us with some stunning wines to accompany our dishes, and his knowledge is very impressive. Just tell him what sort of wine you are looking for and leave him to do the rest.
The rest of the team were all very welcoming, although another mention must go to John, not only is he a great restaurant manager, but he also makes an amazing bananas Foster!
If you're looking for a restaurant in Mayfair, this definitely has to be near the top of the list.
Dinner at The Colony Grill
Lucky enough to be invited to dinner at the refurbished Colony Grill. Elegance personified! We were greeted by friendly and professional staff who made us feel very welcome and offered superb service from wine suggestions to delicious menu choices. The pumpkin risotto was the best I've ever had and the calf's live - a must!
Overall, an exceptional evening. Thank you to everyone who made it so special.
Revisiting an old favourite
This is one of our favourite places for dinner, so to celebrate its reopening after the refurbishment, we decided to visit to celebrate a birthday. We liked the new decor, and it was good to be back.
Although we had a perfectly nice evening, and the food was good, I have to confess that the service was a little inattentive at times and I was disappointed that the restaurant didn't make a gesture to mark my partner's birthday (although they were aware of it as one of the waiters referenced it on our arrival.) I also have to say that I personally preferred the old menu, and missed the inclusion of some favourite items (eg, chicken pot pie, and the shepherds pie.)
The new Magritte bar in its new location was an unqualified hit, though - cosy, intimate, and sophisticated - with excellent cocktails.
So good to be back
So good to be back at the Colony after the long Covid lockdown and the excellent refurbishment that coincided with it.
The room is more beautiful than ever, with colourful murals replacing the former New York steakhouse-style collection of photographs.
If the room has been renewed, the staff are as excellent as ever, with many old friends remaining. Service here is impeccable; courteous but friendly. And ultra-attentive.
A crisp Caesar salad was followed by land, and then ice cream. All delicious, and all perfectly executed and presented. An Argentinian Malbec accompanied.
This place is outstanding. So good to be back.
